⏩ What's with the gloves?
Not after any CZcams fame here which is why I'm not in the vids - they're not about me they're about the how-to! I used the gloves for the first couple of projects I filmed which just happened to be messy ones and it kinda just became a thing - easy to spot my videos! If that's not your thing and you'd prefer to watch a face, all good, I won't be offended, there's plenty of better looking ones to watch already on CZcams ;)
⏩ Where did this start?
I really enjoy tinkering with different projects - they usually require a whole bunch of research and learning along the way. It's satisfying on doing a thing and standing back and going 'Yeah! Totally did that!'. I had a bunch of mates asking 'how did you know how to do that?' and 'I couldn't never do that myself so I thought; I need to start something where I can help others that might be thinking the same thing :)
⏩ What will you find here?
The purpose is simply to make these videos as top quality and helpful as I can. They will always be free, there's ZERO agenda and the only motive is to try and upload what I would want to watch to help with that particular project. I'm also keen to keep building this little community and will try to answer all questions when asked - fire away :)

I’m installing this sub tomorrow and going into it with no anxiety at all thanks to your videos. Thanks 👍🏻
The most simple and clear tutorial on CZcams for this 🙏
Thanks man. Actually saved this. Going to buy and install this weekend if I can. Great video. I may do a video on 1998 Merc because the battery is in the bloody boot. In some ways it makes it easier though.
Nice, cheers man 🤟
Great job. Thorough explanation. Had to go through many videos before I found yours which is a complete explanation. Thank you.
👍👍
Going to connect a MDB aw-10e compacted sub to my corolla soon. Will upload a video as well. This one helps me lot to clarify some issues with regard to my installation. Thank you
Such a easy install you did there man!!
Great video man doing one tomorrow and you really made it simple 👍👍👍👍
Excellent video, clear, easy to follow; just need to figure out the wire to positive terminal and good to go! 👍
Finally I got some useful video on youtube to install subwoofer
Yo im your 700th subscriber!! Keep up the great work
Woohoo thanks for the support 🤟
Just ordered two of the 130EA based off of your videos.
Thanks for the content!
I'm hoping two of these should be more than enough for a single cab truck.
Enjoy!
How is it?
Superb! Great job and easy to follow tutorial. Thanks mate!! 😂😎🤙🏽
Glad it helped!
FYI, if your head unit doesn't have pre-amp RCA output, the TS-WX130DA can take the input from the speaker wires. I tapped the rear left and right door speaker wires, convert the speaker wire to RCA using a speaker-to-(male)RCA adapter, and finally, connect those RCA cables to the subwoofer.
Any ideas on how to have two of these at the same time I’m really struggling
@James Evans that’s what I wanna know? Did it work for you? Left for 1 sub right for the second?
@nhatqtran that's great to know, thanks for sharing. I'm just wondering does this then affect the rear speakers volume? Or do they still operate as per usual? Cheers!!!
@@harryhayes2048 I'm speculating that the tap doesn't affect the sound of the tapped speaker since the subwoofer is only using that tap as a sound signal, and not using it to power the subwoofer speaker. The amp in the subwoofer drives the subwoofer speaker based on that input sound signal.
I admire how you tucked those wires.
Easiest and most helpful video I’ve found online. Thanks mate 👍🏽👍🏽
👌
Thanks for the video, very helpful
Hey mate, I'm planning to install this subwoofer in my car with the stock head unit and a line output converter. How should I adjust the gain on the line output converter or the best setting for this sub ? Like the gain, frequency, phase and bass mode on the remote as well. Thanks !
Thanks for a great video and ur thumbs up on the unit. I have 2 x 12's in my car but my daughter doesn't have the room. Hopefully she is happy with the level of Bass available. It sounded pretty good from CZcams. I like ur EDM and Shuffle video soundtrack!!
Ah 2x 12s would be tasty! Especially if pumping out some Melbourne shuffle mixes 😁
@@VideoShowMeHow Love the Melbourne Shuffle vids and sounds. That was actually my catalyst for installation in the first place.
Funnily enough, I am running 2 x Pioneer GM-D8604 600w amps, 1 for the Subs and 1 for the Mids/Tweets.
Good job man!👍
Very helpful. Thanks for the video!
Found video helpful now to install
I just installed this in my 66 mustang. Incredible how it sounds now!! Needed to go in the trunk but I really feel it up front.
Nice! Would prob have a bit more boom in the trunk as well :)
Video Show Me How More than enough! I put sound deadener everywhere, but I have to figure out how to stop the springs underneath the backseat from vibrating!
Wonder if you could hook up 2 of these up under front seats and reg sub box in trunk
awesome vid installed mine today great instructions bud
Cool, they're a decent unit hey
did u use a y connector to connect the sub RCA ? there are also left and right out for the RCA, do u just leave them out ?
Great video, thanks!
Love it, easy to understand very clear instructions
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful.
Question: do you always have to use a Y splitter cable to connect the rca cables to the subwoofer cable on the back of the head unit? Or could you also connect it to the left and right rca?
Do you also hook up your existing car speakers on this amp?
Great sound from pioneer
👌
High quality how to! Thank you for your good work my friend 🤝
Cheers 👍
thank you for the video. but i can't connect rca cables to my head unit. so I would cut them and put a high speaker adapter in between. but is it enough to only connect the front left / right or do the rear ones also have to be added?
All you have to do is strip the audio jacks down to the two wires inside. They're just fancy connectors and any unwanted sound can be phased out with any decent amp
Thank you for the video. Do you have any videos of how to best tuck all the wiring? This is my first install. Thank you in advance.
Great video one question though i bought a car witch has the sound system wire it it for a monster but want to know if i can re use any of it
Thanks 👍 You might be able to use some of it, I'd recommend checking out what wires go where, might save you needing to route new ones
Hi can it fit under seat for Honda City GM6 facelifted model?
I am using RCA outs on back of head unit but I don't have a remote port, any ideas ?
i dont have AMP CON wire in my head unit but i have the ACC wire (red wire) ,can i connect my amp to this wire to remote start it when i turn on the car ? does this ACC wire do the same job as AMP CON ?
Possibly. Get a test light, connect to it and turn your ignition to acc mode and confirm there's power. You could connect using the speaker connect as mentioned in a previous comment as you then don't need this wire.
Thanks
At least i learned how and where you connect that blue wire coming out from my aftermarket unit.
I'm using with it a separate DSP but it looks it needs more settings adjustment.
The bass is lower than i expected.
So one green output into a red and white in sub. I am confused. Do I need a y connector?
Cheers mate, Brilliant.
😁
I was surprised to hear the Alan Walker track as your test track.
Nice!
Great video! However" you should have mentioned this unit does "not" come with any RCA connectors! You'll need to purchase those along with a Y adaptor if your going with RCA and not spk method 😀
Thanks for your help dude.
Np bud 👍
@@VideoShowMeHow I upgraded all the speakers to Pioneer in my EP3. I didn't wanna fit a massive sub in the boot like a spotty 18 year old virgin so I decided to put this bad boy under the driver seat. It produces a decent amount of bass and at certain frequencies an interesting sensation in the ball bag area. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their sound system :)
Hi. I've installed same underseat sub like yours hook up to my android player which have sub out at the back of the unit just like yours. Everything goes well and the sub turn on when I turn my engine on. But the sub didn't produce bass sound. Only normal sound. I've try to adjust the gain from the remote but seems like no effect at all. What have I done wrong?
MrStanzar you don’t have the crossover set properly. You need to filter the audio (low pass x-over) you’re currently running full range through your sub.
Is it possible to match the clipping(thd) of the sub with my head unit as the gain is controlled via the remote?
Poss, depends on the head unit
I've got my TS-WX130DA coming in tomorrow, but I'm just a bit apprehensive when it comes to the yellow wire. How did you fit that through your firewall? I would've thought you'd push the white connector through and then pull blue and black all the way back into the cabin alongside the connector. But in your case the blue was already wired, and there's no way to fit the fuse holder through one of those grommets - or does the fuse holder come off (that'd be a lifesaver for me as well)?
Fuse holder should come off :)
Wanna get one for my Mazda CX-9, but want to keep the stock head look, does the stock one support this sub?
Hey 👋 Unsure on the Mazda head unit but good thing is with these types of subs (is the same for the Kenwood install I did on the channel as well) is you can install via RCA or by using the existing speaker wire. So basically these will work with almost any head unit. Checkout the Kenwood install vid if you want to see it wired using the speak wires way 👍
Hi, great video :), i installed a portable sub in my car, when the car is in accessory mode or in idle the sub sounds pretty good, but once i start driving the sub sounds really weak, any idea on what might be affecting it. Installed in a Toyota Camry
I would prob suggest the extra road noise etc makes it seem less loud. I guess these are never going to be the same as a bigger sub and amp... Maybe you just need a second one 😁
As I just mentioned Camry I saw this. Hm
Hey mate, thank for this. Will be a huge help when mine gets delivered. did you need to buy anything additional to mount the wiring to the car battery?
No had everything, I think I may have used a different ring terminal but otherwise ok 👍 Good luck with your install.
amazing video
Thank you very much. Big help 🙏
Glad it helped
Great video
Cheers
I’m getting mine tomorrow and I’m so excited!! I do have a question. I’m a little worried about routing my wire in my engine bay. Do I need to be worried about it melting at all from the heat? Also will normal zip ties be okay in the engine bay? One more, would it be possible to wire my subwoofer power straight to the yellow on my radio? Or is it to many amps and will blow a fuse? Great install video. Definitely the best one out there
Nice! Thanks for your comment. 1) just keep wire along the sides, no prob. 2) zip ties are fine 3) no you'd need 12v power from battery, it's unlikely you had unit would have enough juice to run 😁 p.s love Mario!!!
Video Show Me How Heck Yea I love to see someone else that loves Mario! 😁 No problem for the comment! You are awesome thank you for getting back to me so quickly!
Great video! Where did you get the splitter cable thats in between the radio subwoofer plug in and the red/white plugs?
Jaycar but can find online ebay/amazon :)
Hi, i had an edge 750 watts active subwoofer but its been taking to much boot Space so i ordered the pionier, the question is can i use the same wiring i had for the edge?
Can't see why not, the pioneer is less power than what you had so that wiring should be fine 👍
Can you do a video for this on the 21 dmax
Hi awsome video very clear instructions, however the sub out port from head unit you had a black cable that was not in your tray. Did you buy this as a extra?
Yeah I needed too as the head unit didn't have RCA outputs. An alternative is to use the speak wire (installed it this way in the kenwood one on the channel)
hey, just purchased this unit and i’m just wondering what cable you ran from the rca out of the head unit to the rca in on the sub is that a Y splitter cable?
Yep
The TS-WX130DA has a 10Amp fuse. Instead of connecting the yellow wire (hot wire) to the battery, would it be simpler to connect it to an interior accessory fuse with a 10Amp or higher?
You could, just you're adding to that circuit that may for example already be using 5amps, sub full draw is 10amp so could be popping fuses. I just have always prefered to run subs direct :)
Trying to install this on a mercedes benz citan 2017 anyone know how i can get my fuze cable to the battery. I can’t seem to find the hole to the front
look some grommets on the firewall, should be there somewhere good luck!
Hi... I’m such an amateur when it comes to things like this. I’m worried I’d break something. Okay so... I have a Sony radio and at the back it has left and right ports for an RCA cable. But, it also has a ‘sub rear audio out’ I’m slightly confused by it. Do I just use the left and right ones?
All good, it's all learning! The sub out will be for plugging directly to an amp. Good news is you've got options. I would just use the left and right RCA outputs, easiest :)
Video Show Me How Thank you. 😊
How did you run the power wire with the fuse through the firewall? Did you have to cut the wire and put it back together?
Yes from memory I had to
Hi, is it really necessary to get a 'Y' adapter in order to plug in left & right terminal on the sub? Can I just plug in either left/right? Will it work the same?
Just depends on your head unit. Give it a shot 👍
Did you try putting in 1 rca cable in left or right or Y cable? How did it work out?
I have a Jeep j10 that I'm trying to fix up and I think this might fit under the seats.
Nice!
Great video. Would you recommend buying another amp for the speakers even though the sub already has one integrated into it?
Another amp for the speakers you could, not needed for the sub (powers itself) 👌
Hi - very interestting video - I’ve just purchased the pioneer subwoofer. On my head unit I have a single wire only which is labelled subwoofer line out, so was wondering how I can connect that to the 2 RCA connections supplied with the amplifier. Much appreciate it if you can help to provide some guidance, as at a loss how to do it.
You can connect via speaker wire, checkout the Kenwood install, shows this method 👍
@@VideoShowMeHow Thanks alot for the super quick response - much appreciated 👍 That clears the point in my mind now to be able get the install tackled - super video!!!!
Nice video. Thanks.
One question though: did you require a 2:1 RCA lead?
Looks like you went from red/white to a single black connection?
Cheers
I did yes (head unit only had a single RCA out), this will dependant on your headunit. If no RCA you can always use the speak wire signal option, I cover this install method in the Kenwood sub install on the channel
best installation video out there! thanks a lot
Thanks 🤙
Hey man, just wondering how and where you ran the wires to tidy it all up??
Hey, mainly just run under carpet etc to keep all tidy 👍
Hey mate great video! quick question. Would it be possible to tee the power wire into the 12v wire on the headunit itself ? or does it need to go to the battery and why ? Thanks! :)
The 12v wire only has a 10amp fuse so you could just wire it into your cigarette lighter socket if you didn't want to go to the battery. With the Jeep I've got all the accessories in the seperate fuse box in the engine bay so that's why I went there 👍
@@VideoShowMeHow that's just the answer I'm looking for! I think you just sold pioneer another unit 😅. Great content. Thanks for the swift response mate!
Haha if only I was getting a cut 😂
You can splice the subwoofer into your speaker wires from your head unit. You don't have to use RCA outputs.
From Crutchfield: . "If you're connecting to a factory radio (or a radio without RCA outputs), you can cut the RCA plugs off of the input harness and splice it to the speaker wires."
I did the exact same thing with another active subwoofer box and it works fine.
Also, if you use speaker level input, you won't need to use a remote power wire.
"Note: If you are using speaker-level inputs, the amplifier will automatically turn itself on when the head unit is turned on. When the head unit is turned off, the amplifier will turn itself off."
Top tip 👍
RCA are superior
Do i need Speaker to RCA converter for that option?
I just installed this sub, cut off the RCAs and wired the input cables to both rear speakers. The sub wouldn't power on though. Ran a remote wire to the accessory wire and it powers on but extremely low volume. Changed the input switch to RCA and all of a sudden it works perfectly sounds great. But my car has an auto door locking feature, and now when I start driving and the doors lock, the sub pops, the volume drops and the signal sounds messy. Any advice would be appreciated, I've tried everything i can think of!
Hi mate one question how how did you secure the sub under the seat or is it fine just to sit it there
Yep secured with the tabs that's come with the unit
What's the use of the frequency in remote and what frequency is recommended?
Basically sets your low pass filter cut off.. sets what freq for the sub to play. The lower the hertz means it will only play the deep sounds. Personal preference :)
Bro, kindly advise me where to buy it’s remote and harness wiring etc, i just got this subwoofer
Hmmm unsure sorry man, I'd contact pioneer directly
Thanks for the great instructions! As an aside, what sort of head unit is that?
eBay android special ;)
Hi =), i am french so its a little bit complicated for me to understand when it comes to the yellow cable. How can i plug it to my battery ? hope you can help me, thank you.
i have a peugeot 107 by the way
Thanks for the video! I am in doubt on how to fix the sub woofer to the floor under the passenger seat without removing the seat ... Can it be done? What' is your method on doing so? And since I would like to install it as in the video, with the RCA cable -shielded, can it go along with the other cables or they'll produce noise? Thanks for the help!
Hey thanks for the comment! 1) I used the brackets that came with the sub and some existing bolts under the seat. I've only attached one of them and has been fine so far even 4wding 2) I would recommend shielded RCA like you said and you 'should' be right. Maybe don't full tuck everything away until you test to see if you get any noise so then you can adjust in need
@@VideoShowMeHow I hope not to have audio noise, otherwise I will have to separate them and make a hole in the carpet to get the cable out of the central tunnel, which I'd rather avoid! Thanks for the help, much appreciated!
I recently bought this sub and a compact pioneer amp I was wondering if I can connect both the power cables into one wire to run off the positive batery terminal? Will that be safe
Hey Johnny mate so long as your power wire is large enough it will be fine. Make sure you run the appropriate fuse as well :) Enjoy!
Wait, you got this sub AND an amp? Assuming the amp is to run seperate speaker?
@@VideoShowMeHow yeah the amp is to power some additional speakers that I've added I just noticed that the power wires are a pretty thin gauge so what I was going to do was just connected them togther before the fuse then run a single wire to the battery
I got the pioneer gm-d1004 compact amp
hi whats that 2nd dial for below the bass level? thanks
Hey, it's a phase control. From the Goog: "Phase control adjusts how the speaker extends and contracts. Since subwoofer sound waves are very large, you can get overlaps in a room that cause nulls in the sound. Switching the phase can eliminate these nulls."
Hey guys with the remote turn on wire, something is already connected to it. Can I just use a connector that allows for two connections from the remote turn on wire?
Yep will be fine. Draws bugger all power, just needs to see a little current to switch the amp on
Hey mate, literraly did everything u did in the vid, yet im still getying no power to the sub? Any advice
I'd put a multi meter/test light on the connection end to sub just to make sure you're getting power from 12v+ (checked fuse ok?) and the signal wire. Then confirm your earth is good. If the sub powers up I'd then be looking at your signal input to make sure that is correct.
For dual sub, one on each seat , it’s possible to control both with the same remote at the same time?
yeah possibly, could use a 3.5 splitter, haven't tested but I think that could work
Great vid, is there any way the power can be ran to the fuse box instead of going to the battery?
Thanks! Yeah you could, would just need to find an open spot that could handle 10 Amps
Awesome, thanks mate!
Can't decide between the kenwood ksc-sw11 and this pioneer TS-WX130DA? What do you think I should go for ? Love your video by the way
I prefered the Pioneer
How is the output of underseat subwoofer compare to bass tube
Unsure, haven't heard the basetube in action sorry
Hi If I wanted to disregard the remote wire do I just join it with a live?
You got it. Would just need a 12v feed
Howdy, just come across this video (and your channel) because I'm getting one of these subs for Xmas. Thanks for the video, I found it useful. I have two (2) observations to make:
1. you didn't say what sort of tape you wrapped that connection with about halfway thro' (it was speeded up), but it looked very much like PVC tape to me (erroneously called 'insulation tape' by many). PVC tape will unwind and leave behind a sticky horrible mess in no time flat in a car interior. Much better to use heatshrink tube or self amalgamating tape
2. The hands and blue gloves style❗ Very ChrisFix, lol. You even sound a little like him too. Was this deliberate?
Rock on 🤘
Hey bud thanks for the comment! Nope not channeling Chris, to be honest first few vids these were the gloves I had and it just stuck. Plus I like blue 😁 I'm not in any of the vids (as the goal is just to film stuff I enjoy to help others who might be tackling the same projects) so the gloves was just to make it a bit more interesting. Unsure if I sound like him though.. am Australian 😬😃 Enjoy the sub install for Christmas!! 🎄🎄
@@VideoShowMeHow maybe the visuals were playing into my brains hearing?? I was listening on my laptop speakers tho', so sound quality wasn't the 'best'.
I'm looking forward to it - my system isn't 'lacking' bass (Hertz EV165.5 in the doors), but I just want to "prop" it up a bit more - I listen to classic rock.
Thanks for the videos mate, I was looking at these on eBay. Quick question, is it possible to run two, one under the drivers seat and one in the rear?
Sure could. Would be easy to wire, you could just split the RCA etc. Extra boom 😁
In saying that pioneer does do a bigger version that might do the job
Food for thought, thanks for the replies 👍 Look forward to watching your channel
@@KC-wo2qe cheers man 😁🙏
Very clear how to. Did you secure it under the seat or it it left loose?
cheers mate. yep used two of the brackets that came with and used existing bolt under the seat to secure :)
Can this kind of sub burn out an alternator or battery? I own a Grande punto which has a small altenator and i already have aftermarket speakers and stereo. I am afraid of the purchase since i dont want to see any dimming lights or headlights in the car
Nah will be fine
Hey mate, I bought one of these subs over a year ago, installed it without any problems and everything was working perfectly. About a month ago the sub began creating really distorted bass when I turned the gain control up more than half on the remote. I've checked the ground, the positive and the plug-ins into the sub. Don't know what to do next as nothing has changed from when it was working well to now. Any idea what might cause distortion at high volume?
Hmmm hard to say sorry mate. Sometimes when I makes that kind of sound MIT's the sub failing.. still have warranty?
@@VideoShowMeHow yeah trying to find the warranty info now. Maybe ill just pull everything out and re install it, hopefully thatll change something aha. Thanks mate
@@aussieo684 Good luck mate
Installed it and the subwoofer works. Got an speaker level input instead of RCA (Hyundai i30) and didnt need to connect the remote cable. but everytime i start my engine it makes a muffled exploding sound, i even have a start-stop automatic function and everytime i let the clutch come and the engine starts the sub makes that sound. what could i do to fix that?
Hmm in unsure. It's the power cable and speaker wire going to the sub directly next to each other? Sounds like some sort of interference. Does the head unit have RCA output you could try?
@@VideoShowMeHow The head unit sadly doesnt have an rca output. had to connect the subwoofer cables directly to the the speaker cables that go into the head unit. my subwoofer is placed under the passenger seat due to easier installing, so the cables all run on the passenger side under the plastics towards the engine bay and to the head unit. my mass cable is connected to the child seat holder in the trunk, which is directly connected to the chassis, maybe i could scratch away some paint and test that out or install something that delivers the power to the subwoofer a millisecond later than the engine ignition.
Is it best to install it under the car seat or underneath glove box?
Wherever you've got the space mate, I'd consider rattles though, if it's resting or up against something it could get a bit of rattle action going which takes about 3 mins flat before being annoying! 😁
the yellow wire can be connected to the power wire from headunit? Is it enough power supply?
Hey mate, would depend on the head unit but I would doubt it would have enough
Can I connect the yellow (+) straight to the head unit or will this blow the fuse? I have a hard time getting the cable from the cabin to the battery you see!
Recommended to get power from battery as up to 10amps
Thanks for the quick reply mate. 😉
I just right now tried connecting it straight to the cable for the radio and it actually seems to work! At least for now. Don't know if there will be a fuse popping one day, but then I will take it from there.
What's the difference between the DA and the EA version of this sub? I just know that the EA one doesn't come with a remote but.. is there a different in sound quality or something?
No difference in sound quality. You get the exact same unit whether you buy the EA or DA. As you noted, you just don't get the remote if you buy the EA.
@@dunebasher1971 Thanks.
I had one of these installed under my seat. Wondering if it's normal to hear a buzzing sound when music is off?. Has a great sound for the size. I'm pleased.
No buzzing from mine? I would check to make sure it is turning off when you turn your stereo off.
@@VideoShowMeHow the light goes off when I turn my car off and the buzzing also goes away . I had a shop install it for me 🤷♂️.
Sounds like you might be getting interference from somewhere (non shielded RCA cables running too close to power cable). Perhaps take back the install shop? Best of luck!
@@VideoShowMeHow thank you:-)
I ordered this sub. Fantastic video. I don't have the blue lead behind to power the sub.. any suggestions?
You can connect via speaker signal method, I do an install this way for the Kenwood install on the channel (they're almost identical)
@@VideoShowMeHowhanks for the reply. I've got the RCA cables connected fine. Ended up connecting the blue to ant amp (another forum said don't use that one though so I was hesitant) and ended up connecting the yellow to a 12v cigarette live. All working so thanks
Can the yellow power wire be connected to the yellow or red wire that powers the head unit?
Yeah it could but your amp would always be on as that is a constant power feed
