Alanis's vocal range and dynamics require her listeners to concurrently explain, explore and enjoy her limitless talents. Not to mention an obviously great mom and wonderful daughter.
Her voice has never been copied and she nails every note, immensely talented I miss originality, today’s music just doesn’t have it. she should release this performance as a single
to see how she really sings, watch the star search clip. then she "put on" the singing style and people bought it. I consider myself a fan of AM, but I also realize that its less than genuine. whatever.
Check out some foreign music. There is still lots of talent it's just not mainstream anymore.
@@jv-ep2tc put on? Give me a break maybe she found the best way for her to sing as she matured. People's voices change as they get older plus if you can make your voice unique then it allows you to stand out from the crowd. It's not like it's studio tricks or fake in anyway. She is one of the best singers and songwriters of all time.
@@rizeagle33 no that isn't it. she did this singing style within a short period of time after star search. yes she needed to stand out and that yodeling worked.
I saw her last night live and she literally had more energy than the 90s and looked the same as 95.
This was very uplifting, watching a mother dealing with her daughter while on live TV. I always liked Alanis, I'm glad she's still making music!
I've always loved Alanis Morissette's music. I have to say, her singing while holding her chatty daughter had me smiling through the entire song! And her singing was flawless! You can truly see her happiness while singing and holding her child.
I remember seeing this last year. The song is good, her daughter is cute, and I want to browse through all those books! The whole thing is just so charming. Thanks for reacting to this.
She is at home in her voice, she always was since she was a child.
Alanis is one talented woman who could have done movies like Doris Day did. She started working on a TV kids show in Canada and went from there to music, being coached by a duo called one to one that did well in Canada and took off from there. One smart, talented, well balanced person.
But instead of like Doris Day movies where girl meets boy...they beak up...they get back together, her movies would be girl meets boy...they break up...girl gets extremely bitter, and channels her rage through her music.
It always disappoints me that so many men see Alainis as a shrill man-hating "feminazi" because she's honestly expressed anger at some male behavior she encountered in her relationships. No one seriously thought Hall & Oats hated women because they sang "Man-eater." Women & men experience the full range of human emotions. Love, kindness & anger can exist in the same person.

she's got an whole body of work to draw comment from , through her developing ideas and philosophies.. i think she's always been an extremely honest songwriter and fantastic vocalist
She has a unique style that some either love or maybe don't like as much, but she is one of the best vocalists of our time.

There is footage of this being filmed in the recent documentary and it reveals she is actually standing at the mic holding her daughter in a hip carry position and supporting her weight entirely while singing, which I find even more impressive. There is also an adorable bit where she is explaining what a pop filter is to her. ❤️

It's a beautiful thing to watch this performance with a great artist and a small child who you know full well will never look back with bittereness and have complaints about being ignored or put into second place. Everyone wins. I love it.

She's awesome. I had the privilege of seeing her and for the better part of 2 hours she was non stop, all over the stage. One of the better shows I've seen in 3 decades. Love her voice!

Wish I could sing that well while holding a toddler on my lap! Alanis always had a particular sounding singing voice that I've never been able to describe until your analysis. It's the yodelling, the way her voice suddenly" flips up", like you say. Loved her from the first time I ever heard "You Oughta Know", such a kick a__ song! What a beautiful & intimate performance with her daughter. Cool!!👍

One of the most striking concert experiences of my life was Alanis Morissette singing Uninvited live. Damn near forgot to breathe, and have never questioned her vocal ability since.

Alanis has always been a Yodeler you can really hear it in her early stuff. I always found it unique.

I have followed Alanis’ career since her early days on Nickelodeon’s ‘You Can’t Do That on Television’ in the 80’s. Out of all of the great acting/singing showcases she has performed, being a Mommy, seems to be on of her greatest performances yet. What a woman! You're right of course, the little girl stole the show. People would spend a lot of money to try and 'create such a song' whereas here it's 100% natural. I love it and as other commenters have said, Alanis should consider releasing this as a single. Nice one Fil!

The cutest part is where her daughter covers Alanis's mouth with her hand. LOL I think most parents who runs into someone they know and start talking while holding their kid, have had their kid try to cover their mouth when they think you've talked enough and it's time to get moving

Have you analyzed her singing uninvited live. It’s very good. Live at the Grammys 1999 I believe.
Women rock singers really owe a lot to her, especially to her aggressive song "You oughta know" (love the music. Curiously I hardly ever listen to lyrics). Stevie Nicks, for me, without wanting to hurt anyone's feelings, was indie/commercial pop.
I hated when they compared her to Shakira, a big act, when Alannis became famous.
