Best punishment ever. 🤣

Yooo a pin?!
How honorable
I love how diesel 10 was like the “bad guy” I guess and he was a perfect character to be a villain, but in cgi they watered him down SOOO much.

@@Enterprising11 wsp bro
I know. If only Andrew Brenner brought that back during the Brenner era after Series 17 if it weren't for Mattel deeming him too scary to appear.
Diesel 10 was never scary
@@mcnuggwtscreations Tell that to stupid Mattel. It's like with PT Boomer.
I actually met Mara Wilson in person at a Comic Con a few weeks ago and got her autograph, she was very nice, and I did ask her if she had ever seen the models since the movie, which she sadly hadn't but did say she did some cool stuff during filming. Funny how this video comes out near to that, I did always see Diesel 10 as a proper villain myself.
Wow that’s so cool!
lucky you
So, he tried being evil once, and failed
He tried again with the same plot, and failed
He tried a smaller plot, and failed at that
I guess he realized that if he, a diesel, kept getting beaten by steam engines, then they're on a more even playing field than he once thought, so he went "Screw it. If you can't beat em, join em"
Exactly!
The CGI incarnation of Diesel 10 had potential. Very good potential. I think "The Missing Christmas Decorations" is a well-written episode but I think it could've been better if it were a double-length episode. It showed how Diesel 10, while not being the mob-boss type leader in "Day of the Diesels" was still a crook who gave no second thoughts to steal. Diesel 10 in the Magic Railroad was the best incarnation in my book. Second place, going to the CGI incarnation.
I still think The Missing Christmas Decorations could’ve made a WONDERFUL spin off type of christmas movie 😭 I couldn’t agree more my dude with that and the ranking
@@ItsTrainBoy i agree
The CGI incarnation of Diesel 10 could've got the evilness trait back so that it can in CGI style you know. Brenner would be perfect to bring it back to the show during the era from Series 17 to 21 if Mattel didn't deemed him too scary to appear again.
@@ItsTrainBoy and that James model at the end is a call back to your first a day out with Thomas Video bro thought he was slick also when another video of it
@@angelobarney1670 It’s a custom I just made, you’re tweaking my guy 💀
Doing a history of Thomas himself would be like trying to piece together a conspiracy theory
Here's my take on Diesel 10 (known in my personal canon only as "D10"):
D10 was given experimental modifications so that he would be better equipped to pick up scrap. The machinery powering his claw drained his fuel rather quickly, however, leaving him stuck at his steelworks most of the time. When British Railways engaged in a mass dieselization effort starting in 1965, he took advantage of the shift in power and became a mob boss-like figure, sending out various diesels (and even a dim-witted experimental steamie with ten driving wheels) to round up runaway “steamies” for scrapping. In doing so, he and his minions were rewarded with lots of fuel and D10 was able to make his scrapyard quite a pretty pence.
To the engines of Sodor, D10 is the Grim Reaper of the “Other Railway”, a dark figure who strikes fear into even the bravest of engines. To the diesels he considers his minions, he is a father figure who provides fuel for his men. Admittedly, he can be a rather temperamental one, but still.
Both of these perceptions are somewhat correct, but ultimately incomplete. D10 is indeed irascible and holds a grudge against steam engines due to their mistreatment of his brethren, yet he’s not a purely evil diesel. Truth be told, he’s quite generous towards some of his underlings (such as the twins Splatter and Dodge), and he’s got a fondness for some of the younger diesels. Nevertheless, you don’t want to cross D10 when he’s in a bad mood. He can be rather vicious with his claw when he wants to be…
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 From your perspective, yes. But I happen to be one of those people who likes the idea of Diesel 10 having more character to him than "hurdur steam engines bad" and thinks that "Springtime for Diesel" is fantastic for Diesel. You can have moral complexity, even within Thomas.
I don't like seeing you make comments that amount to "but Diesel and Diesel 10 are ALWAYS bad and they'll never be anything but bad". Let other people think for themselves. Please stop enforcing this belief that Diesel and Diesel 10 can't change for the better. If the steam engines and even some of their fellow diesels can change, why can't they?
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHoncho Sorry but I just want people to understand my thoughts and there are some fans who think the same thing as me to agree on and complains about how Diesel 10's villainy gets watered down throughout his appearances since I'm not the only one you know. Also, because Diesel and Diesel 10 are great and perfect as antagoists and nothing else with no moral complexity mostly along with Sailor John, 'Arry and Bert which thankfully they remain so in the show upon it's end and franchise overall. Besides the steam engines and some of their fellow diesels who are the good guys remains who they are throughout the show despite learning lessons. Learning lessons are for heroes, not antagoists or villains mostly. A pity you don't like Diesel and Diesel 10 as antagoists because that's who they are mostly and always will be in our hearts as we know and like them to be. I can let people think for themselves as long as they understand my thoughts in return like you. I hope you understand that.
Pure evil suits Diesel 10 best and his hatred towards steam engines are just that. He's fine as mysterious with no backstory. Other fans could agree on that with thinking the same thing. No offense and my thoughts which other people could agree on.
I always did see Diesel 10 as a tyrannical leader of Diesel engines who loves to wage war on steamies.
pretty pence???
Yes, Sydney the ultimate villain of the show! Finally someone else who knows the truth!
He really faked having memory issues to get away with his crimes. That’s just despicable!
In a fan mad vid sidney pushed arry in the smelters shed under the claw
we always knew it. just never had the balls to say it
Always thought that pinchy was deliberately (and illegally) added to diesel 10 for malicious intent by whoever built him. Possibly just for the sake of harassing steam engines.
Diesel 10 was one of the most terrifying villains in my childhood, but as I got older I really like his character. He is driven by his goals, and will go to full lengths to get what he wants. Heck when the CGI Thomas movies came out and they foreshadowed Diesel 10's return my jaw dropped
I've always wondered what his backstory would've been, in the Director's Cut.
To be honest, I think the Original Backstory of Diesel 10 in Director's Cut is much better than we got because he's just a new engine arriving on sodor, not liking the steam engines.
I think he's fine being mysterious and no thing else. No offense.
That Gordon face in the aide of the thumbnail is comical
I’m happy someone noticed it 🤣
@@ItsTrainBoy and yeah also
*Diesel 10 attacking in shed why Gordon was sleeping and he screaming and other stories*
I'd absolutely LOVE to see you take on a OO/HO gauge Diesel 10 model whether AU or prop accurate. AU would be epic as its rarely done.
O gauge so we could have a rc claw
Diesel 10 has always been a stand out in my mind, even without having watched tatmr as a child and I’m glad that there’s some more enlightenment on him now
I know people are divided on this character, but I grew up with the movie (albeit I tended to skip the human parts). I liked Diesel 10 for how menacing he was as a foil to the Thomas cast, and I had quite a few theories about him having a bad history with humans. I like to think they kept rebuilding him as he broke down, and him being jealous watching the steam engines go by as he sat in his shed being worked on. Perhaps they even created Pinchy for him upon his request, and he could've used the claw to escape and take his anger out on the first engines he saw next. It would certainly explain his hatred for both humans and Steamies anyway, his number could even be a reference to the amount of painful rebuilds he went through.
Just dumb kids stuff though, right? A shame that we never got to see his full potential, even if he was a throwaway movie character.
Yeah, still my favorite Thomas and friends movie
Diesel 10 holding Mr conductor over the bridge is still the most intense movie scene I've ever seen
I have a theory,
We know that Lady was taken care of by Burnett Stone, but it’s likely the Conductor Family had a hand in her origin as well.
Conductors like Mr Conductor, are similar to Time Lords in a way, one example of a bad Time Lord is The Master, The Doctor’s nemesis.
What if there’s an evil member of the conductor who went rogue and perhaps met someone who was similar to Burnett, but evil, possibly, but not necessarily PT Boomer. Those two came together, and they found a wrecked warship diesel, fitted him with a claw, and then sent him out to do bad things?
Perhaps Lady and Diesel 10 are the train versions of an Angel and Demon respectively!
I remember watching the movie as a kid and I was absolutely terrified of Diesel 10 the claw combined with his voice and his evil looking face just struck fear in me as a child
My timeline for diesel 10:
1959: diesel 10 is built
1960: he is modified with the claw for line side debris
1961-1969: he attempts to kill lady first hand
1970-1988: he waits for lady to come back
1999-2000: he does same thing all over again
2002-2022: he comes old and starts showing wiseness
"A kids show with a villan, how would that work?"
oh go watch trainboy, he can explain
Day of the diesels and magic railroad scared me as a kid, mainly cause diesel 10 scared me, even the scrap yard scene in the Great discovery, also Hiiii train boy!:D
Id like to think that between TGD and DOTD the diesels were promised better treatment and resources but topham had forgotten to stay true to the promise and Diesel 10 had finally had enough. Love this vid btw
Diesel 10 is my favorite villain of TTTE. However I much prefer the characterization of him in TATMR as it's the true definitive of D10 that everyone loves! CAE and DOTD really toned him down drastically! I do like him in Missing Christmas Decorations, but that's just it.
Personally I see the versions from Magic Railroad, the television series, and the CGI series has three different interpretations of the same character.
The one from Magic Railroad is the lovably malicious cartoon villain we all know.
The one from the model series is a grumpy maintenance diesel Who despite having a bad attitude just wants to be useful and eventually forms a friendship with Thomas after the events of calling all engines and even cameos in the great discovery.
I am finally in the CGI series he’s become the head honcho at the Dieselworks and uses manipulation to get what he wants. However he does have a change of heart around the holidays two years later and put aside his pettiness, at least for a little while, during Christmas.
After all I don’t see any way magic railroad can be canon to the TV show and there’s so many inconsistencies between the model series and the CGI series that the only way to justify both would be to set them in their own continuities. (I mean the adventure begins pretty much cemented that the CGI series had its own timeline)
After a little while, goes back to old ways and not changed.
How this was in a kids show (like if You now the reference)
We all know what you mean
They animated Diesel 10 very good
What if the animation seasons and the model seasons are on different canonical timelines that branch off from _Thomas and the Magic Railroad?_ In other words, Diesel 10 in the animation era and Diesel 10 in the model era are from alternate universes of sorts. That would make more sense than his character development being wonky throughout the series.
Of course the movie is not in the same timeline. There is no way that movie can fit into the canon of the show.
He would’ve kept his original villain persona if “The Adventures of Thomas” ( The Cancelled WWll movie ) still went ahead. It was confirmed that the were to a steamie vs diesel confrontation as a plot line, many at the time assumed that role was going to be given to Diesel 10.
But Diesels weren't built until the 1950s. And WW2 took place between 1939-1945.
@@dylanlyles9453 THANK YOU! The biggest glaring issue with that whole Steamies Vs Diesels during WW2 nonsense, I'm glad someone else sees sense.
@@neilsomers9046 🎶What can I say? Except You're Welcome!🎶
@@dylanlyles9453 There were still some diesels in the 30s and 40s but the whole diesels taking over stuff didn’t happen until the 50s and 60s, and most of the diesels in the show’s basis’ weren’t built until after WWII
I absolutely LOVE his design. Probably my favorite in the series.
my head canon for diesel 10 goes like this: diesel 10 was built along his siblings looking like any other warship and when his class started getting outdated the men at the works gave him a claw for MOW or breakdown trains, with the claw being used to either pull up defective rails and laydown ballast or with the aid of chains, rerail locomotives, and like cranes he had stabilizers to keep him upright when lifting, he was later bought by toppham to work as the maintance engine, and since he saw what the steamers saw when they got replaced so he doesn't act like a jerk as we see in many films, he would be a huge halloween buff since he could use his claw to really scare someone but he only does it if he has free time and knows if it's going too far and the reason i say he acts like early thomas is because he could have died and become like his siblings and thinks if he fouls up it's game over (which we know will never happen)so he'll try and cram as much fun into his years before they're over
i actually really love the music to day of the desiels
Am I really going to watch an 8 minute video about the backstory of a character from a show I haven't watched in 2 decades? HELL YEAH I AM!
Ah yes, one of, if not my favourite, Thomas Character of all time. I love Diesel 10, he had so much potential, potential that was wasted. In my opinion, Diesel 10 is underrated and underutilised.
The Franchise was better with him in it, as a Franchise that's all about life lessons and friendship needs a Character to test those concepts and put a strain on them, so the story can unfold around how you can learn to deal with bullies like Diesel 10 or recognise shady and manipulative individuals.
Plus his menacing, maniacal cackle is amazing, it can be either comedic or intimidatingly villainous depending on the scenario. Thank you for making this video and chronicling Diesel 10's history, while also highlighting everything great about him, and where things could've been done better.
I hope we see more of this dastardly Diesel in the future, as I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to hear whatever headcanons you may have regarding Diesel 10. I'd like to see a more fleshed out timeline that details his whole life, pre-Sodor, pre-Pinchy, where he was during his multiple absences, all with dates, etc. All in all, stellar work as always, keep it up!
Ah yes, an analysis on my favorite diesel, this should be fun
Amazing video as always btw congratulations on 60k u deserve it so much I remember watching your Charlie and Billy video when you started and I haven't missed one since good luck
I’ve been on a TATMR kick recently thanks for fuelling it more!
As Diesel 10 is my all-time villian from my all-time movie (Thomas and the Magic Railroad), I really enjoyed this timeline!😁
I've tried to do a Diesel 10 timeline for my own sanity before, but no matter what it's always extremely confusing, especially with TATMR apparently being set in '99 (biggest Today I Learned moment ever lol).
Anyways here is my own take on his time: He starts with TATMR and the implied backstory of that movie, being lost to time for several years until reappearing in the Misty Island post credits scene. That scene has always implied that he's not the same D10 we saw in the models, at least imo. Then going straight into Day of the Diesels where he tries a more manipulative role, before being foiled once more. He goes on to... Steal the Christmas decorations (hate that episode so much, it's just not him), then he carries on to the time of Calling All Engines, where he's been under house arrest by the island for so long he's actually willing to change himself for the better, and he does. My reasoning for the placement being so late is Arry and Bert suggest that they know Thomas and Diesel 10 have a rough history, and unless you subscribe to the theory that they are Splodge (and even then it's a stretch), it just doesn't make much sense. Closing out, is of course, the Great Discovery cameo, where he's made a full 180 especially in regards to Thomas.
TATMR kind of has to lead directly into the CGI appearances imo, it's just too drastic a shift from there to CAE/TGD, back to the Misty Island scene, character regression for him doesn't make a ton of sense, and the Thomas timeline is out of order anyways, even as far back as Series 4. But that's just my own 2 cents on it, he's a quite fun character to write for, but absolutely hell to plot out on timelines. xD
At least The CGI series has him back to being a villain again which we fans are delighted for despite that it's watered down since his portrayal is not so good in Calling All Engines by most fans. A breath of fresh air if you will. No offense to you but just stating.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 He's only a straight up villain in the Misty Island post-credits and the first half of DOTD in 2011. When we see him again in that Series 18 episode I refuse to name, he's just a bully.
And (I forgot to mention in the original post), by the time of Series 22, he's seemingly on decent terms with the steam engines, otherwise why would Rebecca think he's cool and envision herself with Pinchy? It just doesn't make a lot of sense.
Diesel 10 is probably my favorite character in the series
was literally watching his n gauge compact awdry james when this vid popped on my notifications. this is amazing
Would love to see you do a video on Spencer in this format or even the complete history on the classic cousin rivalry of Gordon vs. Spencer.
Tell me WHY am I even watching this? It was 9 pm, and I was watching a video about WWII. How did I end up here, at 3 am, watching a video about a kids show villain?
Another great video trainboy keep up the good shit!
Wow! Cool Story Of Diesel 10
Also, TATMR takes place in 2000 for my HC (Head Canon)
Nice job trainboy great as always
This was a great video. Very informative and a great breakdown of Diesel 10. Could you please do one for Spencer next if you haven't already? I love his character and would love to see a video talking about his complete story. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
Diesel 10 is somewhat consistent somehow tbh I don’t really like to think that calling all engines happened as there is a good theory to avoid it
Wow I know this is not related to the video but I realised you hit 60K!! Good job
Ah Yes, A Diesel With evil intentions should deserve a sentient Claw! - the guy who added d10's claw
Watching this again, I had an idea for Diesel 10's character:
By the looks of it, he was built to handle the loads of scrap metal from old steam engines; he also probably had to hunt down a few, so it makes sense that he wouldn't see steam engines as "people" and get a thrill for hunting them for their parts
Falling off a bridge into a sludge-filled barge was likely very humbling, and he decided to turn over a new leaf after thinking about his actions
-
That's the only reasoning I could think of for why on Earth Topham would ever bring him back, I also love that while he isn't murderous in CaE, he still gets mad the second he sees Thomas
Actually, Diesel 10's appearance in the great discovery is dur8ng the news about Thomas being found and he was in the background
Neil Crone is the best voice actor.
He gave Diesel 10 a presence, even during little segments like "Old MacDiesel had a plan" the voice just called for your attention and successfully got it.
The CGI incarnation, no disrespect to the voice actor there, but he just doesn't have that presence. The voice feels just as watered down as the rest of Diesel 10 in CGI.
Awesome video trainboy
I hate to say it but diesel 10 is forever my favorite character, with so much wasted potential on his character. Also as much as Keith Scott’s voice is menacing i still forever live Neil Crones New Jersey accented voice also the goofy Russian voice he originally was supposed to have
I love your customs keep up the work
Pinchy do be hungry like that
The Darth Maul of Sodor.
Apparently there is a fan theory or fan timeline the D10 has a sister with who has a claw and even he is scared of her because she's darker than he is
Love this one man! Could you do a timeline video on “The Lost Engine”?
Wait, what about that time he appeared at the end of Misty Island Rescue? I know there didnt happen a lot, but still interesting
Superman’s weakness: Kryptonite
Spider-Man’s weakness: Water
Diesel 10’s weakness: *sugar.*
I heard that The Day of the Diesels was initially gonna be a LOT darker. Like, i think VERY dark. The crew behind it were forced to change a lot of things because critics (i dunno who told them to change it) said some scenes would be too scary for kids. Honestly, i think it would've worked better if DOTD was some kind of sequel to TATMR where Diesel 10 gets out of train jail and actively seeks revenge on Thomas for helping Lady escape. It seems more in character for him.
Maybe you could talk about Hiro's Timeline with this format
Best video ever
Would love for you to do a BTS video of your essay video or model video editing process. It always impresses me how you can write edit and upload something like this in under a day.
He was taken to Brendam docks where cranky lifts him out of the barge and back onto the track and Gordon takes him to the works to be mended
@trainboy love you’re content as always will you do a magic railroad review? it would be interesting to hear you’re opinion on it because I know you have a soft spot for it 🤟
Wow, i haven't heard that intro BGM in a LONG time.
Sydney just acts like a nice guy, but really, he's a crimelord with a fancy but evil mustache.
He’s a *crucial* element of the Killdane Crime Families
Bruh
I wish diesel 10 append more in the series
Not quite on topic but Diesel 10 was in TaTMR. I was just thinking the movie would work so much better if it was written Hero of the rails style. Lady and Burnett escaping to a remote part of sodor. Then Diesel 10 returns looking for lady and Thomas finds her accidentally (as he did with hero). Then there far more Thomas in the plot too, though you'd have to rename the movie cause there'd be no magic railroad.
I forgot that Sydney was just dangling from the ceiling for most of the show lmao
Das a freakn good thumbnail
What if that barge in tatmr was a rubbish barge going to misty island, with diesel 10 also being placed on the island and trapped due to the blocked tunnel. Then when the tunnel was cleared in mir to let Thomas and the logging gits through, diesel 10 escaped back through it and that's when we see him back on sodor at the end of the movie. This doesn't work if cae and tgd are counted, however if you disregard these it works
diesel 10 should have appeared in what rebecca does, disappearing diesels, spencer's vip, samson sent for scrap, who's geoffrey, the truth about toby, den and dart (episode), diesel's ghostly christmas, goodbye sir topham hatt, wild water rescue, toby's new friend, henry in the dark, tgr, springtime for diesel, dowager hatt's busy day, phillip's number, the big freeze, daisy's perfect christmas, bwba (movie), forever and ever, an engine of many colors, the case of the puzzling parts, counting on nia, gordon gets the giggles, diesel do right, steam team to the rescue, nia's bright idea, sonny's 2nd chance, gordon and rebecca coming through, henry's happy coal, spencer the grand, tree trouble, fiery flynn, ol' wheezy wobbles, and bust my buffers (episode)
britt alcroft should have explained diesel 10's origins and how he got that claw, cause i wonder diesel 10's life was like before tatmr, between series and cae, where was he between tgd and mir (before the ending), the reason why we didn't see after the missing christmas decorations was propably the writers and Mattel considering him too scary for the audience
That is a pity. Andrew Brenner could have feature Diesel 10 more in CGI specials during the Brenner era and retains his evil trait if it weren't for Mattel. Diesel 10 is fine as mysterious with no backstory if you don't mind.
I thought that claw was terrifying as a kid
I just imagined Sidney with claw and wearing black glasses...
That’s a cool looking thumbnail
Please do Thomas, as my favorite character in the whole series, i kinda wanna see this type of Video with Thomas
Diesel 10 is my favorite diesel in the Thomas series. It’s a shame after season 17 they dropped him.
Yeah, if only Mattel didn't deemed him too scary to appear more so that he can do more evil plans with evilness regained by Brenner's good writing.
5:38-5:46 made my day better haha
I like train
Before the modification he was kind and friendly but then he got his modification and got very aggresive and then he killed a tankengine and then i dont know happen
But that was a fan theroys and you can find this on youtube
If your up to it I'd love to see a video on what duck did before sodor?
If diesel 10 could manipulate percy then probably he manipulated FAT controller to make appearance as sad and sorry just to repair dieselworks.
Please make more timelines
ooh, maybe he was acting, to make Topham think he would change.
"What was Diesel 10 doing during the Cold War? As Diesel 10 was build, he showed a hatred towards Steam Engines, just like the other Diesels of his class. Soon he was wanted for Murder and Arson in at least 25 cases, but was never caught. In 1989, his ultimate goal was to destroy Lady, a magical engine who has powers that, so told, could change reality itself to save Steam Engines from the scrapyard. During this time, he was modified with illegal, hazardous machinery. In 1999, a couple of years after the Cold War ended, Diesel 10 was able to trial on the North Western Railway on Sodor, in hopes of destroying Lady. However, this plan was doomed to fail. After crashing down a Viaduct and landing in a barge, Diesel 10 was brought back to Mainland Great Britain, where he was banned from on December 10, 1999. Over the course of 3 months from May to July 2000, he was seen causing Confusion and Delay in France and Germany, and tried to steal a rare Class V200 bodykit from the World Exposition in Hanover, Germany. Althought the plan failed aswell, Diesel 10 was caught around October the same year, where he was sentenced to 5 years in Rail Prison and charged with a 1.3 million Pound Sterling fine. Where he is of today, might remain a mystery until the end of time."
4:29 yeah I kinda agree but I think cgi is during model before they found Duke. It's unlucky tugs theory. Not mine he did it first.
This is my favorite 🤩 👍!!!
And diesel 10 made his last appearance in the missing Christmas decorations
Good video on diesel 10. One video idea you could talk about, is since the Northwestern Railway is the main railway of the series, why didn't the Rev Wilbert Audrey but the railway company lettering on the locomotives sides, as its only the numbers we see on their tenders. How are readers support to know if these engine are part of the North Western railway?
Cool
I still prefer Diesel 10 as a villain. CAE and the CGI series honestly ruined him for me. I still use him as a villain in my projects. However, I do respect those who would have him a have a good side.
I still prefer Diesel 10 as a villain myself. Brenner should have returned his evil trait in the CGI series.
They should have made it so that PT Boomer was a British Railways executive, who came to destroy the magic so that BR could take over and dieselize the NWR
I’d like to see the full timeline of peter sam & sir handel
I wish this guy was in the rws his timeline would’ve made a lot more sense if it were made by wilbert awdry himself
I would love to see a Thomas timeline
You need to watch the very end of Misty Island diesel 10 is there after the credits
I’ve seen it, it just doesn’t have anything to do with his overarching story as much as it’s an easter egg for DOTD lol
The funny part is that diesel 10 is the only one who can physically harm or kill the humans without them being on or 14 feet away from the track and then they end his note on A FRIKIN GRINCH STORY
