Going to be honest. Yuko Komiyama and Norihiko Hibino are AMAZING composers, made some awesome music over the years. But the orchestral stuff here, even if it references classic Contra music, doesn't sound particularly exciting/kind of generic/reminiscent of Marvel movies. I do get it's hard to follow up Jake Kaufman's Contra 4 soundtrack, Daisuke Ishiwatari's Hard Corps: Uprising OST, and Akira Yamaoka's Shattered Soldier OST, but I'll hold out hope that later stages have a bit more energy.
I agree, the music itself sounds good, but doesn't fit a Contra game.

I think you can do that. If you own the Contra Anniversary Collection and have save data for it, the option to switch to the originals unlocks.

I still prefer the soundtrack from the older games! The soundtrack for OG sounds too "cinematic" or "orchestral" for a lack of better words.
Yeah, the music in this game it needs something different. Get away from the "Hollywood" sound and go with something more, retro sounding. This IS a game that came out in the '80s.. The composer should have concentrated on making the tracks sound retro, or synthed up possibly rather than going with what sounds like a 2024 Hollywood movie. The trouble with Hollywood is orchestral music is starting to sound generic. It doesn't have soul or memorable melodies within. This music needs to come from the heart.. not because someone wants a paycheck.

@Jackfromshack Who? Me? No. I'm just not a fan of this game's art style, direction in writing, and music. Especially when it comes to retooling Contra. I just hope they don't tamper with this franchise again and make things far more confusing.
What? Why? WayForward made best part of the series -> Contra 4. The same project leader was working on Operation Galuga. There is literally no better team in a world that can make a better Contra game than them.
I agree that music is not as good as Contra 4 had. I don't agree with art style, I think it's ok to make it look closer to modern game, without overrated pixel art. But most important I believe it will be a solid game from gameplay perspective.

Last I checked, Bill and Lance didnt carry around M41 Pulse Rifles from Aliens movie lol. but good try there. I'll let it pass. 2 women in the game- nah. They weren't in original games, and no reason for them to be in these except for PC Ballwashing Virtue Signaling again.
You don't have to pick women if you don't want to. There are 2 mens, 2 women and 2 robots so even in 4-players coop mode you can play without a women.
Btw it sounds funny that you want to play without a women, but it's ok bro, I'm a tolerant man :D

Its literally the fact this is a remake of the original game, at least for the first several contra home console iterations there were no women- let alone some idiot moron islanders who are "supposed" to be on same level as Lance and Bill. Nah.. they can shine their shoes instead.
@@MidwestAINewsroom We have much more gamer girls today than in 1988, when Contra 1 came out. My fiance for example, she is playing with me and together we are going to play this new Contra so I don't see anything wrong with a women character for a woman gamer. Lance, Bill and Probotector are still here and for sure I won't even try to pick anyone else than them.
I would rather be unhappy about skipping Snow Fields, Energy Zone and Hangar stages because these should be in a remake. We will see how full game looks like, maybe these stages are there and maybe game is fun :)
