If you want a story, their album "Metropolis Pt. 2" is a concept album that's like watching a movie
That albums pretty full on, might be too much too soon
oh man, that's like offering someone who just got their first sip of wine and likes the slight buzz crack cocaine...
my favorite album they make
It is not the most suitable song for those who would like to know Dream Theater, for those who listen to them the first time it seems only a jam session.
especially live
Pull Me Under is a retelling of Hamlet from Hamlet's perspective, the abrupt end is when he dies in the play
I can see that interpretation in the lyrics, but do you know if it was ever intended to be like that? Is there any interview that any member said something that confirms it?
(I know about the death of the autor perspective and all, just curious if that was the inspiration)
@@ducas8937 they've confirmed it
I don't even care if this is true or not, it's now my entire headcannon.
Tbh I asked Portnoy at a drum clinic why it cut off so abruptly and his answer was that they had so much tension they didn't know how to resolve, so they took a page from The Beatles and cut it off like on I Want You (She's So Heavy).
@@ducas8937 It's not just lyrical interpretation. It directly references Hamlet intentionally ("I'll take seven lives for one and then my only father's son," "oh that this too solid flesh should melt," "Living my life too much in the sun.")
Yeah, that's how the song ends. Also, this is one of their shorter and simpler songs...please feel free to explore them further and prepare to be blown away!
I've read somewhere that the song ends abruptly like that to signify the unexpectancy of death.
Yes, there was an artistic point with the abrupt ending.
c0il That’s quite right
I wouldn't say shorter, but really is very simple comparing to Metropolis Pt.1 or Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, for example.
Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence gave me six degrees of inner turbulence.
Funny thing is that song end like that on purpose. It symbolizes death, which can happen suddenly. However, in live version band tends to give more definitive ending :)
Oh wow that was actually on purpose??😂 Really thought something was off in my download or something xD
@@GiddyKitty Everyone's first thought when they listen to this for the first time!
Think one of them said they just couldn't think of a way to end it!
More like there has been a problem with a tape during recording the audio and last few seconds haven't been recorded, but your analogy is cool too :)
This song ends perfectly because Another Day starts right after it and its such an amazing transition mood wise.
The funny thing is that this is one of their more straightforward songs. It was actually their only hit when it came out in 92.
It was written for MTV... hence it had to be short and simple. ;)
@@lxathu actually there's a radio edit of this song, and somehow it's the only music video in their official channel on yt
Sándor Gombai you’re an idiot lol
@@lxathu actually pull me under was one of the ones not written as a radio friendly hit and the band were surprised when it was that one that got lucky
dream theater the best band in the world
it is!
Yesssssss
Kansas

You should react to their song "A change of seasons"
It's 22 minutes song and it's one of their best song!!!
Octavarium, The Best of Times, The Count of Tuscany
Yes I love a change of seasons!
no
and then "six degrees of inner turbulance" and its xmas. because this songs are so long. and so gooooooood
A change of seasons was the first song my boyfriend sent me, first time I’d heard DT. the love was instant.
Dream Theater are amazing!. Been listening to them for many years and it doesn't matter how many times you hear there songs you always get something new from them.
Garry Walker dude is your avatar from the movie The Sentinel?
@@PaulHilburger Yes it is. One of my fave movies.
Aaaaand Dream Theatre gets another fan... well deserved. Extremely hard working musicians
Should do "Count of Tuscany"
One my favorite
i don't think she can do that one yet
@@desonoranter5419 yep she's not ready for this... that's too much power for a DT beginner, she might not survive
Dude! 😂 this chick is NOT ready for Count of Tuscany. Lol
She’s too much of a rookie to handle an epic like Count of Tuscany
React to their song called Illumination Theory. Especially the live Breaking the Fourth Wall version. Buckle up and hold on for an emotional ride. You wont be disappointed.
Or Octavarium
Facts, Illumination Theory is breathtaking. Octavarium is also good. Sacrificed Sons is amazing though; it's about 9/11
Dreamtheater is known for complex and experimental songs and songstructures. So, if your dreams are quickly changing moods and are a bit crazy, this might be a good background music for them
Yess, finally reaction to my favorite band of all time!! Been waiting for this reaction for a while. My favorite thing about them is probably how they experiment with song structures, it's not the typical verse, chorus, verse, chorus stuff. Otehr than that they're really incredible on their instruments. This song is pretty simple by their standards but on songs like Metropolis pt.1, The Dance Of Eternity, Outcry, Beyond This Life and many others, they really go to the extremes with the instrumental craziness, some of the best musicians ever imo.
Beyond this life is one of my favourites by them. The whole Metropolis pt 2 is out of this world, Finally Free in particular. One of the most dramatic, epic, perfect compositions I've ever listened to.
@@marius9372 Yeah, it's probably my favorite album of all time, it was amazing to hear it live in its entirety few weeks ago.
Great choice for a newbie, I will definitely recommend this first before recommending my personal favorite from DT.
Let them test the water before drowning them haha
One of the first intro I learnt playing the guitar!
Woah that's a pretty daring choice for a beginner xD
@@GiddyKitty The intro is actually pretty easy, the rest of the song of course isn't lol
I'm currently learning Barstool Warrior. Not an easy song but definitely fun to play
You will love A Change of Seasons, The Glass Prison, Six Degrees of inner turbulence, Octavarium and, of course, Metropolis pt. I
Love this song!
It's a good song☺️
@@GiddyKitty welcome to progressive metal its call add time signatures in the music. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DT ? Oh yes please ! :O
edit: this sub-genre is called "prog(essive)-metal". Once I started with progressive rock/psychedelic rock/progressive metal, it pretty much took over my listening habits. It is a prefect blend of hardness and complexity.
Other great bands include: Rush, Tool, Mastodon, Death, Liquid Tension Experiment, Symphony X, Queensrÿche, Gojira and Cattle Decapitation.
Being a songwriter, musician, vocalist and body builder this was one of my favorite songs. One of the things I was really impressed with about this band is that they all have college degrees in their instruments. They all went to Berklee College of music. They also have 14 studio albums.
They are known for big and difficult songs but they also have more soft and shorter ballads, like "Along for the Ride". You should try it, very melodious
You should definitely listen to more Dream Theater. They go through a million different sounds and emotions all the while maintaining their signature style and flavour. Each member is a god in their own right, and together they are literally magic made real.
First time viewer here. This is by far the most popular song by Dream Theater, as it's their only real mainstream hit.
If you want to listen to more by them I highly recommend either "Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper" off the same album, showcasing their extreme progressive side. Or "The Mirror" if you would prefer a heavier song.
Great reaction! Hopefully you fall into the rabbit hole that is dream theaters discography 8)
metropolis part 1 changed 1993 (when i get the album) my whole musical thinking! it changed everything!
The last time I watched one of your videos is a long time ago
I think you would love the song "Paradise Lost" by my favourite band "Symphony X". Some people call this the most beautiful song ever!
SX and DT are both Progressive Metal
I am really really enjoying your Car reaction videos, and how more and more better your videos are ,
I am so so so proud of you Rana .
Love You
Fantastic, I've been waiting for a Dream Theater reaction for a while
Do more dream theater! Next one might be "In the presence of enemies" or "A change of seasons"
Yes! In the presence of enemies is amazing! The last 5 minutes of pt. 2 gives me chills every time!
Such a fucking wonderful song "in the presence of enemies" god dammit
Yes finally you've listened to your first progressive metal band. Next in - Opeth and Tool.
And Haken
@@fabianwinters7826 haken is an amazing band! Love them
Fabian Winters bro Haken is fucking awesome! So excited to see them with Devin Townsend.
uhhh nice saw them last year on vainstream but I wish I could see them live in Amsterdam with the Affinity album
And most certainly Ne Obliviscaris. I recommend "And Plague Flowers The Caleidoscope" live: czcams.com/video/rNuVdsx7qJY/video.html
Dream Theater - Take the Time Reaction
A potential female Dream Theater fan? Marry me?
Okay, now that we've gotten that out of the way. If/when you decide to continue going down the Dream Theater rabbit hole, I recommend watching pretty much anything live. It will give you the opportunity to see what kinds of masters these guys are with their instruments. I can't begin to count the number of times that I have seen this band live...but it's a lot.
And I'm not sure how they are about copyrights and reactions, but, if I were to offer up a recommendation, it'd be "Metropolis, Pt 1"...it gives you a chance to see each of the band members strut their stuff.
czcams.com/video/pEkWYrmk7OA/video.html
Yesssss metroopolis is amazing, especially if you add the dance of eternity and one last time....just amazing how they are all connected in some way
I agree and it's one if my fav Songs ever but I would ease her more in to Dream Theatre with under a glass Moon, Learning to live or Panic Attack?
@@Laros82 learning to live is pure perfection. I almost cry by the end of it
@@marius9372 Indeed the whole Album Images and Word is amazing like that for me
You should react to "the count of tuscany" that song has a lot of things
FINALLY a man of culture
yup, you're gonna enjoy dream theater as much as you enjoy buckethead! ❤️
your new patreon knows the type of metal you're enjoying to! its so satisfying seeing you jamming and bobbing your head around! I love your reaction as much as you love the song! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
also I love the part where you said "your dreams have background music just like in movies." like how? 🤣

Would love to see you react to "Under a Glass Moon" by them.
Oh yes. Definitely one of my favorites!
This ^
You just barely scratched the surface of the mirror.....
The Mirror...
get out
This song is so awesome the first time I listened to it I was just blown away and I was like that can't be the end
I was so looking forward to you checking out DT. You went with the thing that makes the most sense but definitely not what i would have suggested
Dream Theater is one of the bands that I listen to when I study (do homework, not study for a test)
Me too
Need to see the live performance of Under a Glass Moon by Dream Theater, live in Japan.
The Glasgow Kiss by: John Petrucci (Dream Theater Lead Guitarist) is one of the most epic instrumental songs produced. Better than BucketHead
The song is talking about living every day like it is your last. The song ends abruptly for a reason. That people are here and alive one day, and at any time they could be taken away and gone. It is a creative way musically of getting that point across. Of how short life is, and how life can end at any second without any notice.
Thank you, I love this band 👍
Great reaction!!
The album Scenes From a Memory is an amazing tale with insanely good songs.
React to Another day by Dream Theater, and I can guarantee you goosebumps and watery eyes
Yeah, this is a great song
True
'Learning to Live!!!' Those 2 solo's will crumble her, lol.
You should react to "6:00" from the Awake album at Christmas at 6:00 am...trust me...it will be worth it trust me
Hahahha yessss
You should react to their entire discography it's really good. Edit: and maybe the algorhythm made DT fans come here, because i wasn't searching for it
Yeah I got here via algorithm
ok this pop up on my feed because you did a Dream Theater reaction. This is awesome already. You're beautiful btw. cheers
Full color, full sets, all people real in your dreams? All previously unheard music and choreography? God, me too!! It is driving me nuts! It won't stop. Also, I love DT, and am a Petrucci fan. This is a simple song for them, one of their early hits. To hear JP talk, it was completely unexpected. Dream on.
To Think Pull Me Under is 30 years old given..never cease to amaze
Learning to Live, Metropolis Pt.1, A Change of Seasons, Octavarium, The Glass Prison
Dream Theater was my favorite band in high school some 15 years ago. Dream Theater and Nevermore, 2 of the best band in Metal. They literally took the classical work to another level. And starting with Pull Me Under, one of the classic and one of my favorites too, the lyric is just epic. Like a Eternal being seeing the blue sea dry and give way for the blueberry fields.
South Koreans love this band. They're bigger in Europe, Asia, and South America than in the states!!😎
Must listen dream theater songs:
1. Finally Free
2. Octavarium
3. These walls
4. The best of times
5. Illumination theory
6. Change of seasons
7. Wither
The Best of Times from Dream Theater has some beautiful moments. The first time Ive heard Pull me under, I was impressed at how crisp the quality is of their playing. That was a while ago !!
Have seen this song performed live several times, it's fantastic...!
This is best Dream Theater song ever !... a band so catchy... i love them!!!
I loved this channel and the song 😍😍😊💜 more what everything this channel 😍 my english is bad Giddykitty :"v
As a long time Dream Theater fan, it’s hard to recommend one song that defines them. “Pull Me Under” was their only massive “hit”, so it’s a safe jump point into them.
If you wind up exploring a full album, Metropolis Part II: Scenes From a Memory will engulf you into an incredible story and musical whirlwind.
Although, any point is a good one to get into their music. Each album has its own identity. Including their latest, Distance of Time, which is a strong collection of music and ballads.
Hope you enjoy them as I have for the past 20 years!
go explore more of their music. They're an amazing band
The Spirit Carries On & Six Degress Of Inner Turbulence, this is the super epic song that will blow your mind !!!!!
DREAM THEATER IS THE MASTER OF ALL BANDS ! always and forever.
I love Dream Theater and yes that song really does end like that
Finally !!
Giddy Kitty and dream theater in one video.
Mike Portnoy one of the greatest drummers of all time and the king of switching time signatures!
I'm glad you like them, as they are/were my favorite band for a while (Leprous or Haken might have taken that spot).
To be honest with you, that was a simple hit song like Another Day. Personally my least favorites as their craft is so much different than those two songs.
If you want a good ballad, try "Through Her Eyes", or "Hollow Years Live at Budokan" (album version blows), "Ministry of Lost Souls".
For dark abs Heavy, I would recommend "A Nightmare to Remember" "Dark Eternal Night", "Glass Prison", "Change of Seasons", "Home", "Shattered Fortress" or "Honor thy father".
"Octavarium" for a nice epic, "Count of Tuscany" as well, "Metropolis pt 1".
"Pull me Under or Another Day" are like their "Smoke in the Water". Deep Purole has way better songs that represent them.
Overture -> Strange Deja vu
Greats Songs, all people like.
This is one of their most radio-friendly songs. It was their first music video. Album came out in 1992, which explains the lingering 80's feel of the production.
The song ends that way because it talks about Hamlet and the concept of death, so the cut in the end is death's unexpected arrival
PLEASE REACT AVENGED SEVENFOLD -SO FAR AWAY
THE SONG IS TRIBUTE TO THEIR PASS AWAY RUMMER.
ITS VERY SLOW AND FULL OF EMOTION
You should do "The Best of Times" if you want to tap in to your emotional side. Everything in that song is mind blowing the solo in the end can bring teary eyes.
Imagine the day when she listen to Octavarium
That is a masterpiece
@@andreluisconceicaolemos6552 eu sei ! Uma das minhas músicas preferidas
Me senti um palhaço escrevendo em inglês agora kkkk. Sim é magnífica a música!!!
@@andreluisconceicaolemos6552 não te preocupes o meu nome não está em português kkkkkk e Sim!
Its interesting to see how alians able describe Dream theater s music style. Observing how my favorite band being describe from different prospect(fan) is great idea(light passing through a prism).
Lol she's impressed by old Dream Theater,... I'm jealous she gets to take the fun journey. Wish I could go back to that. She has a treat ahead...
Cutie pie. DT is my second favorite group. This song introduced me to them around 1992. I've never looked back.
Just throwing this out there as a life-long metal fan, but I'd actually like to see your reactions to K-Pop too...you inadvertently drew me in and once I was hooked that was it lol. The fandom of many groups reminds me a lot of the very loyal and yet rabid fandom of Metal. Both are just a black hole that continually draw you in (in the best ways imaginable of course lol)
Now do "dance of eternity"
That's not nice. Let her work up to that. ;)
When u understand the band u will see they don't focus only into the instrumentals. Their lyrics is so f*cking good every single music
I highly recommend listening to Learning to Live. Simply amazing.
Great pic btw
This song is about accepting your inevitable without fear. It ends abruptly because our lives end without warning. The end reminds me of the ending to the Sopranos.
Their new song "At Wits End" off of 2019's Distance Over Time is a mind throbber for sure! Can't seem to get through a day without hearing it at least once
I recommend At Wit's End from their latest album
That's just the surface of Dream Theater.. Try Metropolis part 1.. Or The Presence of Enemies pt. 1 and 2..
yeah go beneath the surface please !
@@whatashamethisname I see what you did there.. 😉 Clever comment..
Dream Theater - Scarred or Voices...Some of their most dream like songs
Excellent! Voices was my first ever song by Dream Theater.
Well the reason why it ends suddenly like that at the end, like still in the middle of playing is actually a tribute to the Beatles as they did the same on one of their songs but I forget which one.
That song is based on Hamlet. Famous play of Shakespeare
You should listen to learning to live by dream theater. The fucking singing in that is out of this world. From the instruments to the singing it’s got it all.
Pls react to Blind Guardian - The Bard's Songs
More Dream Theater reactions please!!!!!!!! :) Greetings from Argentina :)
Well well well... look what we have here.... another reaction video by the Princess of Lebanon!!!🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻
AWWWW 🙊😂❤️
You're lebanese and you're reacting to my fav band... you got my sub
The first song I heard by them was Metropolis pt 1. and I thought it reflected their name well.
All Dream Theater 's disography is a invitation of a powerfull musical journey with a lot of differents moods :)
Your beauty increases if you listen Dream Theater
You could keep listening to the album and see how a great band can do different, and so brilliant, things. "Another Day" is an amazing song.
Then, don't forget to listen to the most famous song in this algum/band: "Metropolis".
This is one of their easiest and earliest songs. Keep listening. These guys are the pinnacle of rock and prog. Nobody can touch them. Try Illumination Theory. They are incredible.
I feel you with the pictures in the mind kind of understand why kaleidoscopes and such where invented :)
Dream theater-the glass prison
That's a lot of fun 😁 One of my favourites
I’m not surprised you said this reminds you a little of Buckethead. I’m pretty sure Dream Theater in general and John Petrucci (the guitarist) specifically are some of his biggest influences. :p. Welcome to the world of Progressive Metal where DT reigns supreme.
Well... DT has written the most material here (fact) - but if I had to choose the best, I would take Shadow Gallery into serious consideration.
Glad you liked dream theater!! That song was from 1991. You should check out something from them that's a bit newer I reccomend As I Am. New subscriber here! Keep up the good work!
The song ends abruptly. Just like life sometimes does. That's the point.
I guess it's the first tome that didn't get bored hearing a Dream Theater song... Pont to you! Thanks!
The band is named after a movie theater, i think it suits them pretty well. The album "scenes from a memory - metropolis part 2" is like watching a movie, like, if you listen to the whole album it tells a story. And it's very visual.
