- The Official Point of View video of The Steel Curtain is here! The Steel Curtain at Kennywood Park opens to the public on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Setting a world record for tallest inversion (197 feet high), North American record for most inversions (9) and Pennsylvania state record for tallest roller coaster (220 feet high), The Steel Curtain zooms across 4,000 feet of track while hitting top speeds of 75 miles per hour.

@@steveo7771286 S&S has built plenty of coasters before with varied degrees of success. They build a set of wooden coasters, the El Locos, the Screaming Squirrels (which are weird things), the 4D free spins, a couple normal 4D coasters, and a set of compressed air launched coasters (I think 6 with a 7th not open yet according to RCDB).

The POV going up the chain lift and underneath the butterfly loop is an amazing site. Wish I lived nearby so I could ride this beautiful beast.

Pittsburgh is pretty cheap to visit, really cool city that is essentially 90 small towns packed together.
I live 40 minutes away from it. It is my favorite ride in the entire park. The view is wonderful, lol!

This coaster is way better than people are giving it credit for. Probably one of the best coasters in NA imo.

According to my calculations, the lift took approximately 64 seconds to clear, the max height of steel curtain is at the top of the lift at 220 feet, making the lift about 1 m/s or 2 mph
This has got to be the smoothest roller coaster I've ever seen.
New steel coasters are usually the smoothest. Those old wooden coasters will give you spinal problems.

From experience on the ride the first week it came out the lift hill is terrifying and also get prepared to hear “right you are billy” a lot

I love that the lift starts out slow and then picks up steam halfway up with the loop lingering overhead and the clickidy clack rattling underneath ... It dramatizes the whole experience! Love it.
And you quickly run out of things on the side that can hold you in. Suddenly you're just up there with no guard rails or nothing.
Yes, I think it even makes it’s way all the way up to 1 mph!

Awesome ride, very smooth. Worst part is that lift at the beginning as it seems to take forever. The ride plays the beginning of Renegade as you are going up. A must ride!!

Omg this coaster is sweet, it always making you think your being kicked through the field goal. It shows the intense feeling of going up and the crazy going down. Wow 😮 feel the story while you ride.

This is one of the best layouts I have seen for a coaster.
If you're trying to get your bearings and figure out where you are in the universe, look for the Racer, that wooden coaster right next to it. That's about the only reliable thing you can lock in on.
The chain lift is fine you wierdos. Take in the view while you’re up there

Going to Kennywood today! Im so excited to ride this! This is gonna be my first ever rollercoaster with inversions!
Edit: I rode front seat on here- i also rode sky rocket,& phantoms revenge. I was a little nervous cause i hate going up the lift hill but i love going down. The ride was very smooth and i felt very safe and secure on this ride. I definitely recommend front seat on this ride! The only bad thing was the waiting
I had to wait 3hrs in line for this but it was worth it.
So...what'd you think of the ride?! I rode is 4 times already, I'm fascinated with all the loops and how it goes upside-down..I love those kinda Rollercoasters💚😅

No it isn't, this ride has quite the rattle. Twisted Timbers felt like riding on a cloud, it's smoother than a fresh ice skating rink. Same with Steel Vengeance, almost with Storm Chaser and Goliath. But I do agree, this park would really benefit from an RMC

@@bunja9101 not saying it's rough by any means but Maxx Force runs insanely smoothly and I doubt that steel curtain has too much more of a rattle. Almost all of the time, vibrations don't matter to me unless they're absolutely awful.

This ride breaks nonstop but waiting in line for 2 hours was worth it
We only waited about 50 minutes today. And it was absolutely worth every goddamn second. It was so crowded at Steel City that Phantom, Thunderbolt, And Exterminator were 5 mins or less of a wait. It was incredible. This ride is going to put KW on the map.

I'm sure it's a fun ride , i just prefer the down & back Woodies. hypers & gigas are cool i just miss the look of a huge drop w/ air time hills winding through the woods barley missing trees. especially at night.
I've been on this coaster, and while I don't think it's worth the 2 hour wait in line, it is one wild ride!
Can't wait to be there at Kennywood on the 22nd for my companys annual picnic and I will finally get to ride this coaster.

It's going to be such an awesome roller coaster! With this new coaster, it will compete with cedar point and many other amusement parks throughout the country. Feel bad that they got rid of the log jammer though.
Frank Rulli I doubt it, every roller coaster at cedar point is crazy. The phantom and the steel curtain would be average at cedar point

S&S really stepped up their game on 2019
I am originally from Indianapolis Indiana and I'm no thrill seeker and my fiancee and her brother convinced me to try this even though I'm deathly afraid of heights. I was so nervous when I got into the seat and while going up the chain lift I was praying inside my head while listening to the music. As soon as I reached the top I closed my eyes and held on tight at first it didn't seem do bad there was a couple times I felt like I was falling out of my seat but I can tell you for a 2 minuted duration ride and 1:15 of it being the chain lift... It felt like the coaster was over before I could finish my prayer it was that fast. It is a good ride and for my first coaster I don't regret it.

Me too. I guess the balancing fluid in my ear gets shifted easily and I get lasting headache for a day so I never go on any upside down roller coaster I just watch.
Siodenesse L. I get headaches too but I have to much fun on them I ignore it. Like the Incredible Hulk coaster at universal I’ve ridden at least 100 times and everytime I get a headache but the adrenaline makes me forget about it

Hi I Bob Arrow parts are still being produced but by other companies. Most Arrows are closing because they’re getting expensive but Phantom’s ratings by enthusiasts make it worth the maintenance. Also add the fact they just need to maintain the station, lift hill and trains since the rest has been replaced.
