“Sir, why were you making homemade bombs”
“Cause my dog was sad”
Timothy McVeigh could've walked with that excuse
This made me laugh 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😅🥰🤷🏻♀️

Marzipan is used for traing. It has a similar wiff to a lot of explosives.
She said, “Look, I’m a working girl”. She was not ready for retirement. Glad she’s happy now.
So we're not doing phrasing anymore?
So glad he realized what she was missing and how to make her happy again ♡
By the way does anyone know the name of the song he's playing on the guitar?
She wanted her hobby back. 😁
it's beautiful. dogs like this need jobs. it pains me to see them regulated to house dogs that do nothing.
Exactly!
When he said “all my plans are centered around her” I felt that. Literally all my plans include my dogs
What an incel
Same here
Love it when he said that ❤
That’s a statement from a true dog owner!❤️💯 pets are family🐾
For the 18 years that we had our dog we always make sure that she is allowed in many of our activities. Always came with us to vacations, i gived her pets on the backsit while my parents were chatting on the front.
What a brilliant dog owner this guy is... Understood what his dog needed and made it happen. So glad to see the pup happy and enjoying her new life.
Come on, it was obvious from minute 0, that dog will miss and need its work and engagement. Work that was done and rewarded for 3 years.
It would require a really dented human to not recognize that
@@ImRandomDude what are you going on about?... there are 1000s of exservice dogs, exrace dogs, exhunting dogs that don't have owners like this... so instead of trying to knit pick like a miserable fool just grow up and show appreciation to the owner doing the right thing for his dog.
@@ImRandomDude Not going to lie, exactly what I was thinking. It was very obvious to me too that she really wanted to still be working. It's great he is helping her do that in a much safer and no stress way.
Lmao look at the Americans fighting in the comments, they think a particular thing or subject can't be 2 things at once, they're all black and white, left or right, always one end of the extreme.
It was quite obvious the dog missed it's work yes, but it was also very good from the dog owner to continue to do this for his dog, not many would.
So both of you are right, stop eating each others head off.
"Do you wanna go do something?"
"Will there be bombs there?"
"Probably not..."
"Then I'm not coming."
Lol
Lol
very very funny 😂😂 good job!
Good one, had me laughing :D
So funny 😂👏🏻
Dorka is like a senior who was forced into retirement but really enjoyed their job. Bringing back that stimulation brought back the happiness. 🐶❤️
Some people/dogs just need to have a job to feel fulfilled. Great that he did this for his puppy.
Exactly! These are highly intelligent dogs who need both physical and mental challenges each day. This man brought that back to her and it's enriched both their lives.
What a good girl
They are an excellent match. He understands her completely. He needs to see her active and happy. She needs to be active and happy. I'm a Dork(a) too.😂❤
My tripod dog loved sleeping and singing. It was awesome.
Maybe she would like being part of search and rescue as a volunteer. It would be nice if she could be involved in something real that wouldn't have to be set up for her. She seems full of life and energy. She's amazing!
That's a great idea 🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕
Although the idea sounds great, but they will need to uncondition the dog off the explosive odors and that's a long, tedious process--and, I bet the dog wouldn't like the process of it. This is why they have different dogs for different purposes. For example, if a dog who knows drug and explosive detection, then we don't know how to approach that situation since both are two different substances and require different handling.
@@Brown-Penguin Thank you for explaining!
She likely wouldn’t be the best dog for finding people since she’s been trained specifically to find bombs not people, not saying she wouldn’t be able to but she would need to be retrained first
They volunteer at a big event as security
That just shows how important it is to have a purpose in life
I played tug of war with that dog a few times in Afghanistan. Yes, that particular dog. I was a Medic so we kinda liked to get to know the dogs just in case the handler went down and the dog had a strong protective instinct. But anyway just browsing what the algorithm gods have given me today and coming across this video with a guy and a dog that I have personally dealt with is funny af.
love that :) hope you have a lovely day
that's amazing!!
Nice!
Wow!
This would be a nice nice nice comment if you had been more classy in your language, but writing "af" which brings the image of the "f" word is NOT classy.

@Jj LI, I'm sorry about your illness & the other things you face but this is where you have to believe in yourself. I don't know your faith or how you feel about it but God believes in you. If you're not a person of faith, then maybe give God a chance after all He knows how it feels to have others, including those He loves, not believe in Him either.
Mate, unlike dogs, we can find passion in more than 1 occupation. So keep looking based on your current health condition, it could be art or a desk job in an area which stimulates your senses. I hope all the military dogs gets the same love and care when they retire. She’s a lucky dog and you two have such a special bond. I’m so glad you took her in after she retired.
You went the “extra mile” to take care of her like she’s been taking care of you. You have given her back her life and that is love at its finest. ❤️
Very well said
Yes, well said
Precisely. Beautifully said.
This is why I say, even with emotional connection and a nice family, without purpose it always feels like the things you get in life are being given to you rather than conquered by you. Her purpose was always to seek and protect, and being rewarded for that was her way to understand she was doing a proper job. You gave her back purpose, she understood that everything she got after that was a proper reward.

We seldom think of it with service animals. But they, like humans, need to have a sense of purpose after retirement. Their former job may end, but their life must go on. Very creative approach by Monte.
She could work someplace like a courthouse entrance or airport too.
In fact all dogs go to work when they go for a walk - if their owners recognise that all that sniffing around is the equivalent of our reading and processing the world through eg. newspapers. I hate it when I see grumpy owners dragging their dogs along and not allowing their investigation.
@@elkpaz560 same! They are loving it so let them.
It's less a purpose, and more a game. My dog did search and rescue and LOVES to 'work.' He knows if he finds someone who's hiding they are going to play SOOOO hard with him so as soon as I say "Go find." He gets crazy happy.
He didn't pass but every couple of days we play hide and seek. It tires him out more than our daily runs. The mental stimulation is just so great for them... and he sleep so well after he's done ten minutes of searching.
@@elkpaz560 Yes, agree! My dog's trainer taught me that sniffing is not only necessary for them obviously, they like to sniff on walks so they can recognize the path back home, to explore and investigate as you say and, it is VERY stimulating for them mentally and fun. When they sniff a lot on a walk, they will be very tired, in a good way, and this was a trick the trainer taught me when I needed to tire my puppy out, not just exercising them. I see some owners get irritated if the dog stops to sniff and yank them along. Sometimes you are in a hurry or running with your dog, that's fine - but you need to build in that extra few minutes for that regularly, it's crucial for them!
She kept him and many others safe in Afghanistan. Now he is keeping her safe from sadness. What comes around goes around.
Safe from what, heaven? They could have been safe at home, AK can´t shoot over the ocean...

No, I disagree. Look at the damage that intensive training and subsequent rejection has done to her. Instead, what happened to her should be a model of how not to train dogs to the point where they ONLY connect their self worth to their ability to WORK. Dogs are persons too, and need the same affirmations we allow ourselves, that we are good enough, without needing utility.
@@Zaihanisme That's just a German Shepherd Dog being a German Shepherd Dog. Even GSDs that have only ever been pets occasionally need to feel that they have a job. They're a working breed and it is an innate trait.

Thank you both for your service. 🙏
The military retired her but she was obviously not ready to retire. Great work seeing what she was needing to be herself, doing what she was the best at in-country.
I watched a program on P.B.S. about 30 years ago. Vietnam Veterans were being interviewed. Several of them talked about the dogs that walked with the point guys. How close they were. One of them said he had been shot, and his dog ( German Shepherd) played down beside him. He then started crying, at that time the military wouldn't let them bring the dogs home. They were left behind for the Vietnamese Army.. WW1 horses that served, were slaughtered by the U.S. Military. Like the dogs left behind in Vietnam, considered U.S.Government Property. So glad that's changed. Those animals were 4 legged hero's.
Just like most Vets, her sense of purpose was lost in her return to civilian life. Thank God, she was with another Vet who understood her!! Thank you both for your service!! Big Hugs and Love~

We must all agree on one fact here, both of them are gorgeous! :) 💕
Oh yeah, definitely
Almost all my plans are centered around her. Literally story of my life.
No but frfr ❤
I'm 100% disabled vet, who adopted a 10 week old aussie border collie mix three years ago. I thought I'd be fine hiking her, training her to play. I was slow, but could get 1 mile in.
But within a few months of having her, I ended up with crippled hips (service related ) and had hip replacement. So our hikes for me were a struggle and shorter for the two years I had surgery and recovery.
I felt bad cause she was bored. So one day I kicked a pine cone on the trail, and Panda caught it and took off. She returned, put it in front of me. I kicked it, she catches it, does major zoomies, and our pine cone soccer hiking began. It kept me moving forward slowly, gave her her exercise and mental stimulus.
I'm now at 2 miles a day, three years later. On hiking poles, but getting way stronger. I'm so happy Panda is excited about our hikes now.
This is such a wonderful story: a real-life example of how important it is to think with imagination and pay attention to unexpected solutions. So sweet.
@@adamstrauss81 Thank you. I didn't add, six months after the hip replacement, I ended up with a quadruple bypass open heart surgery June 2021.
I didn't see Panda for a month while in hospital. My best friend who took care of her said she would take a pine cone into the field by her house and toss it up and catch it and run around for hours alone. Didn't want to be with the other dogs.
It broke my heart that she was doing that alone, but also showed me how much Panda and I were connected. When I returned home she clung to me more than ever.
Now that I'm so much healthier and stronger our hikes are a blast. Panda just zoomies and plays soccer and looks so happy now.
She's my sidekick all the way.
