Lol. Before I became an RN, I worked as an ASM at Gamestop and a sales rep at T-Mobile. With that being said If I could get a dollar for every dumb ass who tried to still open the door when the damn gates were down I wouldn't need to work anymore. I actually asked a customer one day why would you try to open the door with the gates down, the lights are even out do you wanna be blamed for trying to break in.
I've been binge watching all your videos over the past day, and I can say that they are pretty good

When I opened, I usually had to be there at 9. The store opened at 10 (Central time - it could be different in different time zones). I know my manager would sometimes show up earlier than that - he was salary so he wasn't stuck following the same rigid "you must not clock in early!!!" rules that all of us hourly wage employees had to follow.
I work at a store thats like gamestop but local so its less shitty, I have people on a daily basis asking me about things that literally dont exist. You know the usual, mario kart for the xbox 360 and the likes. Could you do a video about anything like that you encountered

I work at a gamestop and last week we had a kid come in and ask about Monster hunter codes from an old 3ds game where it said “go to your local GameStop for codes” and we had no idea what he was talking about, looked it up in our system and nothing. Lol

This precisely mirrors opening procedures at any Blockbuster Video I ever worked at in both the US and Australia. Same, same...even the morning announcement bs.
Other than a new game just releasing the night before, I cannot fathom why somebody would be at a GameStop before it opens in the morning...lol

FANTAVISION yeah. Believe me, the one time I showed up at gamestop before the dude unlocked the door in the morning so I could get my son a gift, they made sure to make me feel exactly this way. Lol
KNACK 2 THA FUTURE i work graveyard so I often go into a store a minute or two after it opens.
one time i was on a bike ride, and i was like "hey, I have a gamestop giftcard on me and I don't know how much is on it" so I rode my bike there, and I was there 4 minutes before it opened. So I waited. The dude opened the store, and I asked if there was a way I could check my card balance. $1.42. I was just like "ummm, well I'm going to go now, bye." And that was the story about how I was at gamestop waiting for it to open.
SGA here. Since my manager has been at conference I've been opening the store every other day (I usually only close). Our FedEx guy got to the store early the other day before opening for a delivery and was trying to see if I could return a game for him also, I had to tell him I hadn't even gotten the registers open yet or the safe. But opening for me has been rather easy and simple. If I have time i'll go ahead and get the perpetual count done for the day and straighten up anything that didn't the night before. Oh and I am going in at 9:30am and we open at 10am. We have a virtual district meeting at 9:45 on the tablet, so not much gets done.

Dude I have seriously binged your videos for like 3 hours today. Your GameStop videos have been quite therapeutic. I got screwed over as an ASM at my location. I might share my experiences now.
Glad to hear you've been enjoying it and that it's been therapeutic! Definitely want these videos to be something for people to relate to and realize that they aren't alone. Plus, I feel like a lot of people don't know just how truly awful GameStop really is.
for the last week i got this new routine where i watch your video and smoke a bowl of the pot while you talk and drink a cold one. i used to work for walmart for 2 years and before that was at a local grocery store called winn dixie. i relate to a lot of shit you talk about. thank you.

The price problem happened to me twice. Once at Gamestop and the other was at Blockbuster. Back in 2006, Smack Down vs Raw 2007 was just released and as a kis I loved this. My family and I had went to blockbuster to rent it for me, but I actually had a habit to look around at games. I happened to stumble upon SvR 2007 for 7 dollars while all the other copies were 60. After a huge argument with employees and managers my dad managed to get me it for 7 dollars. The next time it happened I was looking for a game at Gamestop and I saw Assassin's Creed Rogue (a new copy) for 15 dollars. The manager actually saw and said I had good luck on finding that and that was the end of that story.
Still watching these now, man. Everyday feels a little more bearable knowing someone else feels the same way. :D
I only ever lined up outside Gamestop before opening to snag an amiibo I failed to preorder in time. Collecting that first series of Smash Bros amiibo was a competitive sport all its own.

Yup! I think I mentioned a few occurrences in past episodes, but if I can think of enough new ones, I'll make a dedicated episode on it!
Didn’t work at GameStop but this is pretty much how opening at Staples was. The whole 15 minute safe thing was the bane of my existence.
I understand the reasoning (sort of) but it sucks for sure
Category counts... fml. Walk in, turn off the alarm, set the safe, start register one (because you have to do it backward in the monrong but there is one you have to start before all others). Once register one comes up you start category counts (02, 10, 909 for sure-- thats new systems, new accessories (I think but maybe it was tablets) and used systems. Then you still may have like game categories (15, 932, 21, and 954)- new and used PS4 and new and Used XB1.
Then there was rhe prepetual count. A randomly assigned count by corporate that usually is mostly comprised of used accessories.
Then you have distro that comes in. Which is the UPS guy that drops off all the stuff coming in. You type the distro number into the computer, verify the contents of the box based on the sheet inside, fix it if necessary in the computer so you don't take shrink. That was usually about 10-15 boxes of various sizes with another 5 boxes of other store to store transfers for specific requests. Those were accepted and thrown in a hold drawer....
Marketing was always done the last sunday of a month I feel like. I remember having to put posters up in windows, hang banners from ceilings, and fill individual DVD cases to make a picture on counter cabinet doors.. everything was a rush. You never got enough time to do everything and almost never got all your marketing stuff. So glad I left.
Hah, I was a manager and opened and close a lot, I hated the goals, it was like, so the store is dying? I hated it.
I remember going to game stop to buy RER on switch and seeing a collector guidebook with pins for Watch dogs 2 priced at 0.01 dollars. I asked if it was a mistake and they just gave it to me for the price

It used to be we have to go clock in at 9, recently it was changed to 8 (at least in my district), and also the price changes are on Wednesday. All ds games under $10 are in a yellow envelope, the ones above that price are in little plastic containers which are locked in a glass display case. So basically still the same thing lol but 3ds games have actual cases just like everything else. Also wii games have their own cases now. The tv isn't loud in my store tbh, but very very annoying and it's at the point where me and my coworkers imitate stupid lines they say or if there's a song that plays it gets stuck in all of our heads. Marketing is oh just god awful lol and the mornings, so much fun. Totally agree with you there's always weird people in the morning. Fun times.

White Belgian are my favorite type of beer. Blue Moon is one of them , pretty tasty in terms of flavors.
Those are definitely delicious! Used to drink Blue Moon as my go to mass produced Belgian White, but I've switched to Shock Top. I like the more citrusy punch it has.

I love these stories because there are a lot of hidden gems. I almost always buy my games off the PSstore now but I remember as a kid going into gamestop with my mom and them forcing DLC down my throat. Mind you I was probably going to get it anyway but the constant pressure they would put on you was fucking ANNOYING. But that was only when i was a kid and was accompanied by mom. If i came in with my dad, they never fucked with us. We would just get our game and dip. But i`ve never been swayed off advertising anyway. I buy what I want to buy not what someone is pressuring me to buy.
Another thing is that a lot of people think that these minimum wage type jobs are supposed to suck and that is not true. If you work for a company that is built on caring for you/ customers, it makes working there ALOT more pleasant. I started off working at McDonald`s and as you might guess it fucking sucked. But I, just like others, came into thinking it was supposed to suck. Fast forward two years later and I work at Publix which for those who don`t know is a grocery store in the SouthEast region of the United States. Publix strives for premier customer service so they ONLY hire people that genuinely care for the well beings of their peers/customers. So where I started off working at shitty McDonald`s where JJ and Sharkesisha are fighting over by the grill every damn day, I`m now at Publix where if i have a question, my co- workers are helpful in me finding the solution. We work as a team, if someone might be a little slow, we compensate. There are benefits as well that mostly come with seniority. If you have worked for a year, you get stock in the company and that is the ONLY way to receive stock in Publix which is HUGE. They help pay for my college. I`m personally studying to be a Pharmacist and by the time I am able to become one, I can work as one at Publix and the list goes on. And it is not like I want to work a minimum wage job forever but if you are a teenager or young adult, jobs like these really look out for you of course if you are doing your part.
I remember in the Wal-Mart video you said something so profound. You said that when working there, you felt as if the customers looked at you in a way that felt like you were beneath them. That`s EXACTLY how I felt working at McDonald`s. What is so ironic is that I grew up in a family that probably made 2 times the families of these people trying to belittle me and that is not to brag but it is just to put in perspective the situation.
If you are a teenager/young adult looking for your fist job or breath of fresh air, find one that looks out for you in the long run because the reality is that you are going to have to work. It does`t have to suck.

In my gamestop its sunday nights for price changes and monday mornings we do what we couldnt finish the night before
I only went to a game stop once back in 2016 to get gta v I went at like 8pm and kids, running around like crazy... Ever since that day I have never went back thanks to pc and digital stores.

I was one of those people that would hang out at game stop. I would do it because I would wait for people to trade in there games or consoles and buy it straight from the customer for cheap I would even sell some on eBay and make money.

3 Times in a row now i have gone into a gamestop looking for a game that was new for $20 (the last one was Final fantasy 15) that was hidden under the counter and them try to sell me the used one in a basic case (no cover or intructions) for more money then what it is new pisses me off and having to go into my phone to see what the sales are on the website
Buying new games is such a pain at GameStop because you never know what you are going to get :/ They really do do a piss poor job at letting their customers know about sales on games, but that's probably because most of the sales are on new games and they don't want to sell those.
You might have not minded the GameStop and EBGames in my area, the sound was off in the games and it just played. Either that or it was low.
i was thinking about getting a summer job at gamestop after watching your gamestop videos over the last few months im really starting to talk myself out of it. it sounds like gamestop drains the life from your soul
Vince Playz GameStop is not the place to be getting a summer job. You will barely get any hours the whole summer and just when you start to the summer will be over plus good luck even getting hired in the first place because GameStop doesn’t have very many employees and hardly ever hires. I’m assuming you want a summer job so you’ll have your own money to spend while your not in school take it from me man you won’t make hardly any money working at a GameStop.
But, you get a pretty sweet discount, and depending on the store you can be kinda busy so you'll get some hours. I recently quit my job at GameStop; I've had a full-time job for a while on top of GameStop, and I stayed for this long literally just because of the discount.

I don't know about your area, but all our stores have this alarm thing that goes off and tells customers that they are being monitored and recorded. Really makes my customers feel uncomfortable, afraid that we are about to get robbed. Even the ones in the mall have it.

It was! Yeah, those ads make want to shop at GameStop even less. So loud, so annoying, so repetitive, and it's usually just game trailers followed by corporate mouthpieces trying to sell you the game pre-order.

Right. Gamestop Corporate is very disrespectful to the game collector and the gamer itself. Throwing out the case is all the proof we need with the mounds of evidence to prove it so. No wonder why they're is so much hot water as it is. Wonder how they'll dig out when that time does come along. Hmm...
Why would gamestop instead of opening new games then trying to sell back to you a used game as new, ( laughable btw ) Fill the entire store up with dummy blank cases and when a new game comes out have the manufacturer send you how ever many game artwork labels you need or print them out yourself to put in the blank cases you have on shelves ? problem solved
WarhawkLegend69 They wont send you just the artwork or an empty case. That requires them to take time to change production. Every minute of downtime typically cost a factory thousands so they don't like changing anything on a production line.
Please stop, you sound dumb. First off, No gamestop would sell a USED game as new. They make MORE money from selling used game so they would lose profit trying to sell you a used game as new. Thats completely illogical and stupid AF.
I also wish they had a way to display those games, but it would probably look really shitty with a bunch of fake cases and the art work/ back of the case doesnt match whats really there.

My manager and ASM always liked opening. Had to be there at 8 and open at 9. I always closed, but we only stayed open until 7 Monday through Saturday and 6 on sundays, so I liked closing. No waking up early and I had my evenings/nights.
