I have two issues with the draft: 1 I don’t like them just reading off the names. Go back to what the draft used to be. Either bring back the ping-pong balls, or the randomizer. That at least was more exciting and added a little bit of mystery. 2 If you are going to remain just reading off the names, only read the names of superstars going to the other show. A lot of the picks on SmackDown superstars staying on the same show
They come out on stage announce 5 random ass picks that make no sense then leave... wtf is this draft format wwe has been using.... Why not dedicate a show, hell combine the draft and Slammies into one show, and do a back and forth draft between the actual two GMs.
Im also pretty disappointed they didn’t use the draft to further push the feud between Adam pierce and nick aldis, we finally get real competitive general managers and they weren’t even really involved
Idk why we always get hyped for the draft when it’s always the same thing but apparently it’s gonna be better on raw they just didn’t want to switch a ton of people to new brands because of the way the stories were shaping up
I feel the reason for the hype this year is because we have general managers and it felt like they were doing a storyline between Aldis and Pearce wanting the better roster. They also kept talking about this new era and that kinda got a lot of us thinking maybe things would drastically change, especially since Triple H is in full control this year.
I think HHH said "pay attention" to who was picked because these will be the main characters of stories for the next couple months. Which means holy hell Ricochet will be an actual character?!
R Truth should be the one to start the weekly open challenges (in honor of his childhood hero), which results in Miz turning heel as he has always been against defending his titles. Then at summerslam we have Miz vs Truth.
Truth vs the Miz for the tag team championship. Oh God, writing this I just got an idea and I don't know if I love it or hate it; Miz wins the tag titles and brings back Maryse as his tag parter and the first ever mixed tag team champions invoking WWE to vacate the World Tag titles and adds a new mixed tag team championship that would allow teams like Judgement Day, LWO/LDF and even couples like Miz and Maryse, Jimmy and Naomi, Charlotte and Andrade to hunt these titles as a mid card version of the tag division.
Miz and R-Truth are over as tag team champions right now. They should stay champions for a while. Maybe have this happen around WrestleMania 41 unless they need to lose titles before SummerSlam. Have R-Truth take pin so Miz is justified in attacking R-Truth.
The whole draft just felt really poorly planned out. Like Santi said, they led us to believe that NXT would be DRAFTING alongside the other two, not just have their wrestlers eligible to be stolen. And not announcing champs were ineligible sooner. And why did they put so much crazy emphasis on people like Bron Breakker and Jade Cargill getting signed by one brand or another when there was gonna be a draft in a month or two anyway where they could switch? And why, if they were such hot commodities that both brands were drooling over, did Bron not go until round 3 or whatever it was and Jade not get drafted at all?
Hi Santi, I am currently 9 months into my internship for University. I am doing this to boost my CV as before this, it has been awful. Honestly I think for better or worse, the reason the draft seems boring now is because Vince isn’t involved. Vince didn’t care about anyone’s feelings, in the past people would legit find out live on tv that their whole lives were being flipped upside down, or they were getting split from the guy they’ve been traveling with for the last 3 years and there’s nothing they could do about it. Also back when smackdown vs raw was a thing the managers actually seemed to care and would try to steal picks, champions would move even if it was normally just the mid card ones. Before I think there was a lot less pre planning too, now it all seems to be stale and scripted
I had high hopes for this draft because Aldis and Pearce were actively recruiting talent and competing against each other. I should’ve known better though because WWE would’ve had superstars move brands at will anyway

They should've done the 07/08 format cos all fans are really anticipating is who's paths may cross moving forward.
You know what might have been better is if this smackdown was an announcement of which stars each brand has protected. Hopefully he can get a better after backlash and maybe get some actual promos and storylines.
I wish it had more of a sports aspect. A full list of participants, champions and x amount of franchise tags for each brand. And then they can rig the picks in a logical way that makes sense.
The reason Corbin beung drafted wasn't on the main show is because it wouldn't make sense to the casual audience. A non-NXT watching audience doesn't know what he's been doing. In their eyes, it wouldn't be a draft pick, it'd be a return.
Absolutely agree on King of the Ring, if the winner gets an automatic title match at Summerslam, it’d elevate both PLE’s basically making them like a smaller summertime Wrestlemania
As a fan of wrestling and a fan of numerous other sports I feel like protecting all the champions is a bit overkill. However I really like the idea of protected picks, I feel each brand should be able to protect like 4 or so stars and the rest are fair game. For a quick example Smackdown could've protected Cody, Bayley, LA Knight and Orton or something similar to that.
The thing with the draft is that they have to go away from trying to present like a NFL draft. Like when I knew in 2005 there was going to be 5 moving from Raw to Smackdown and vice versa, it was exciting. They essentially still do it but they announce everyone else as well who will be staying on the same brand as well. So the actual drafts just go unnoticed
They should do a reverse money in the bank, where the championship gets to decide when and where the number contender gets his match. Heels would be all over that. Also institute the 3 strike rule for contenders. You can’t challenge the same guy for the belt if you’ve already lost 3 times. Would make it more exciting and meaningful.
I was disappointed they didnt give nxt picks, like obviously they shouldn't get roman reigns or something so it wouldn't make sense why they wouldmnt take a huge name like that but giving them mid carders who aren't doing much right now like Shinske would have been cool, i feel like shinske could be like a menacing final boss in nxt, wwe did bugout with that
Nxt not having a draft pick kind of makes sense. In kayfabe, why would they ever choose someone like Trick Williams over AJ Styles, the entire judgement day, Gunther, McIntyre, etc.
I think the design of the titles is the main reason to have them not swap brands, and the main reason I didn't want them to swap brands. Back in the early to mid 2010's and prior when every single title had it's own unique look and style. Sure, have them change brands. in the late 2010's to early 2020's when a great deal of titles all looked the same. Sure, swap them. But now where in an era where RAW has World titles (World, Women's World (looks the same just with a white belt) and World Tag which also looks similar) and likewise SmackDown has a WWE title theme where at least the WWE and Women's WWE look the same. It'd now look awkward to mismatch those titles. You kinda need at this point to keep the World titles on one show and the WWE titles on the other. Like I said before imagine RAW having the World & Women's WWE champions, then SD having the WWE & Women's World champions. It's just weird. For swapping the titles in the draft to work either every single title needs to be unique (which I think most of us would prefer) or we go back to all titles being the same. But with how the championships are laid out now, I just don't think swapping them works.
I can see the judgment day splitting with Rhea & Damian being faces, Finn, Dom & JD staying heels with Finn & JD being their own thing & Dom maybe taking over the LWO making them heels
Wait weren't there talks about King of the Ring adding a title opportunity this time? Pretty sure that even Gunther himself said in that promo that he will win KotR and then pursue a title of his choosing, basically confirming that KotR will get a title shot.
I think the only issue with Gunther is we just saw him be ic champ for over 600 days they would have to make it fresh and new and I don’t think they will do that
Protecting the champions was dumb, both brands should have been limited to a certain amount of champions, each brand gets a world, mid card, women’s world, women’s mid card, and tag team titles for both genders
Ilja dragunov might have a storyline waiting.. if wwe wants to jump the gun with Ilja vs Dragunov .. they could have Ilja save Vinci when he's attacked by Kaiser and Gunther to set up a tag match between the two teams . Or he could join Imperium also
I have a couple theories as to why he will stay on SD Tama, Solo and Heyman as the bloodline hot drafted SD so as a Bloodline member he stays there Also if you don't get drafted you usually stay on the show you're already on but then again alot of draft rules are different this year
This could be too soon to say, but I feel Barin Corbin’s draft to Smackdown NOT being televised is already a red flag about how his character will he treated down the road. I hope I’m wrong tho
I like they didn’t include the titles because then they would take up the first draft picks (if they’re going to use draft pick position as an accolade).
The WWE draft used to only focus on wrestlers who actually SWITCHED brands. If you weren’t “drafted” you stayed on your brand. Makes it more exciting. The older drafts where wrestler could fight for a pick from a different brands was ridiculous fun. Or when draft pick would show up unannounced to their new show. Pro wrestling is entertainment, so why not try and make drafts as entertaining as possible?!
The Jey Uso thing makes complete sense in real sports logic as he’s taking on priest at backlash and in laudable if Jey was on smackdown raw would have a chance of losing their world title
Thanks for @mrsantizap for picking my tweet in your video. It honor and privilege to choosing. For anyone wonder it was troll tweet. I really don't think that.
Calling it now, Bloodline gets Drafted to Raw and costs Jey his Title opportunity…. Leading to the bayface team of Jey USO ,Jimmy uso , and Roman reigns vs The New Heel Bloodline
From a sports perspective Jey being number one makes perfect sense because even though Seth is more valuable seth is njured right now and you don't draft an injured player when more than likely the injured player won't be drafted first
It maybe works in the America where people watch the nfl but in uk this is so so boring. They forget that wwe is entertainment, the draft should have storylines like split tag teams, people wanting to leave, a big name leaving, some cool trades like Dom for LA Knight. This gave us nothing to be excited about and is silly to make a big deal about wrestlers not moving brand.
@@WDEWRESTLING As I just read from the 2023 Draft, 22 people got drafted to different brands and the rest stayed on the same brand. Also there were 11 NXT call ups, so maybe they’ll draft more people to different brands on WWE Raw and they’ll have more NXT call ups.
So Baron got brought up to Smackdown but his tag team buddy got drafted to Raw.... I hope they just keep them apart for a little bit and eventually make Baron and Bron a tag team again at some point for a little
The problem with Becky is sort of the same situation from last year, when they introduced the WWE World Heavy Weight title. People mainly stated it was a 2nd tier title not only due to Roman unifying the main titles and they needed another top title to at least be on TV when Roman takes his lengthy breaks, but most of Roman's past title challengers practically going for it, said which made it seem as a loser bracket and no one wanted Cody to win / go for it even though he was mainly on Raw cause it would cement it as the loser's title, so having some one like Seth who's never lost to Roman at a PLE made sense since they can stand somewhat on even ground. The only reason Roman seemed more renowned compare to Seth was the length of his title reign and ultimately Cody. So the idea of Becky winning the title right after she lost to Rhea, practically devalues the championship due to the fact that Becky couldn't really earn it at the biggest of stages or moment. Like especially since she won it by a battle royale, on a random episode of raw too. Like no Backlash PLE, in which stars from their respective brands at the time could face each other to qualify for said final (title match) at the PLE. Kind of similar to what they did with how Seth and AJ or was it Finn faced at night of champion to be awarded the title. Would've made sense due to the fact the Draft could've been right after Backlash to do the final roster shakeups so having people from Raw and Smackdown to face for it could've added more interest in possible / future matchups later on.
I think with Bianca and jade winning the tag titles, the only way would be to do it the way they did with Shayna and ronda, and have jade turn heel, but win the feud.
Just on an on screen perspective Jey uso being drafted first is the only thing that makes sense for Raw. They have him facing their champion already, if smackdown gets him and he beats Priest, they lose their world title, AGAIN. That’s just my logic at least
The current format of the draft sucks balls. It only make sense back in 2002 and 2016 when the brand extension started because nobody assigned to a brand yet so the GM tried to outdo each other to get their hands at best talent they could get their hands on is more fiting to the format But after the brans has estabilished the best way to do the draft is using random draft lottery like they did in 2004-2011 because it adds more excitement and unpredictability to the draft and they can still exclude the champion from the draft if they wanted to
The way I saw it portrayed is that Roman doesn’t want SD or Raw wasting their first pick on him(he thinks obviously he will be first pick) because he is going to be away for a while that’s how Paul Heyman was trying to explain it as

Day 7 of asking for top 10 dream free agents signing with the WWE
Would make it more exciting and meaningful.
release that editor santi
I have a Hot take:Besides Undertaker’s Gong.John Cena’s Theme: My Time is Now is the Most Iconic Intro in WWE history
I can see the judgment day splitting with Rhea & Damian being faces, Finn, Dom & JD staying heels with Finn & JD being their own thing & Dom maybe taking over the LWO making them heels
Bro got sum nice drip goin on today
I love the momentum ricochet getting btw
Wait weren't there talks about King of the Ring adding a title opportunity this time? Pretty sure that even Gunther himself said in that promo that he will win KotR and then pursue a title of his choosing, basically confirming that KotR will get a title shot.
santi u had one job
Or he could join Imperium also
I have a couple theories as to why he will stay on SD Tama, Solo and Heyman as the bloodline hot drafted SD so as a Bloodline member he stays there
Also if you don't get drafted you usually stay on the show you're already on but then again alot of draft rules are different this year
“Until we yeet again” foreshadowing them going to different brands
After the Flair/Lynch incident, they probably dont wanna swap champs anytime soon.
This could be too soon to say, but I feel Barin Corbin’s draft to Smackdown NOT being televised is already a red flag about how his character will he treated down the road. I hope I’m wrong tho
SCUKED😊
When did you get that ps5
Nia Jax on Smackdown means The new Bloodline story is about to go crazy.
Do you want a video idea?
Even if u dont want here is an idea: make a video about injured wrestlers and when are they likely to come back
I like they didn’t include the titles because then they would take up the first draft picks (if they’re going to use draft pick position as an accolade).
Never mind womp womp
scuked
Dijak needs a title run.
Santi video idea do a hall of fame or not video and put in on social media and see driffrent people suggestions
The Jey Uso thing makes complete sense in real sports logic as he’s taking on priest at backlash and in laudable if Jey was on smackdown raw would have a chance of losing their world title
Day (insert number here) of suggesting video idea: Four horsemen of every era in the wwe
Bro's editor spelled sucked, scuked, anyways, the draft was ok nothing too special, hoping for a stronger one Monday 😂😂
Thanks for @mrsantizap for picking my tweet in your video. It honor and privilege to choosing. For anyone wonder it was troll tweet. I really don't think that.
Cody has been drafted to SD and tell that dude dont dare to show up on raw bcz it’s damien preist time to show
Calling it now, Bloodline gets Drafted to Raw and costs Jey his Title opportunity…. Leading to the bayface team of Jey USO ,Jimmy uso , and Roman reigns vs The New Heel Bloodline
3:07 santi absolutely should have read that hot take by sounding like the comic book guy from the simpsons. would have been funny. 😂
Cutting it real close today Santi, I was worried that you were gonna break the streak today.
He never breaks the streak, trust me this is nothing. He almost lost by 10 minutes one time
From a sports perspective Jey being number one makes perfect sense because even though Seth is more valuable seth is njured right now and you don't draft an injured player when more than likely the injured player won't be drafted first
It maybe works in the America where people watch the nfl but in uk this is so so boring. They forget that wwe is entertainment, the draft should have storylines like split tag teams, people wanting to leave, a big name leaving, some cool trades like Dom for LA Knight. This gave us nothing to be excited about and is silly to make a big deal about wrestlers not moving brand.
the draft sucking isn’t a hot take it’s the truth
The draft ain’t over yet
@@snakeeyes2551 i know but the first day sucked
@@WDEWRESTLING As I just read from the 2023 Draft, 22 people got drafted to different brands and the rest stayed on the same brand. Also there were 11 NXT call ups, so maybe they’ll draft more people to different brands on WWE Raw and they’ll have more NXT call ups.
@@WDEWRESTLINGAgreed.The draft was shit.
I usually watch all these hot takes videos and every single time its never a hot take people just write down the most popular takes
In kayfabe, Drafting Jey Uso makes sense because as the number 1 contender you have to take him early.
Ilja is definitely coming up. Listen to the end of spring breakin
WWE need to stop pretending that Jey is a main event superstar, treat him like the midcarder he is
I think with Bianca and jade winning the tag titles, the only way would be to do it the way they did with Shayna and ronda, and have jade turn heel, but win the feud.
Just on an on screen perspective Jey uso being drafted first is the only thing that makes sense for Raw. They have him facing their champion already, if smackdown gets him and he beats Priest, they lose their world title, AGAIN. That’s just my logic at least
I think the Priest vs Jey match will be used to pull Jey back into The Bloodline storyline.
Im pretty sure that they announced that the King and Queens of the ring will be getting titles shots.
The current format of the draft sucks balls. It only make sense back in 2002 and 2016 when the brand extension started because nobody assigned to a brand yet so the GM tried to outdo each other to get their hands at best talent they could get their hands on is more fiting to the format
But after the brans has estabilished the best way to do the draft is using random draft lottery like they did in 2004-2011 because it adds more excitement and unpredictability to the draft and they can still exclude the champion from the draft if they wanted to
The way I saw it portrayed is that Roman doesn’t want SD or Raw wasting their first pick on him(he thinks obviously he will be first pick) because he is going to be away for a while that’s how Paul Heyman was trying to explain it as
5:38 jey being first is not weird at all, for he is the no 1 contender for DP's title
