Celisse, church is not about religion, but rather fellowship with God as well as the other believers which make up the church..remember, the Bible defines the church as the body of Christ.. and Christ is the head..The Bible also instructs us, not to forget meeting up with one another as some have grown accustomed to doing (please look it up)..there is no do it by yourself Christianity in the Bible..believers were always with other believers..loving these movies alone is not a ticket into heaven..we must become Christians and do the work of Christians..
@@gfservantforlife841 there is no "ticket into heaven", that's a lack mindset perpetuated by different religious organizations for centuries, in order to keep people in fear & reliant on an idea of God, being outside of them. If you understand how conditioning works, you have clearly bought into that. So you're not telling me anything I wasn't used to hearing growing up in the church... you do not need to be surrounded by other people harboring the same comfort zone fear based lack mentality, in order to have a relationship with God. My relationship with God grew in leaps & bounds after leaving organized religion behind many years ago. I've also healed deep seeded traumas & conditional limitations, that were never even touched on being brought up in organized religion. Not going to church to listen to a 1-2 hour sales presentation on God, isn't going to block your soul from returning from where it came from. Not buying into a black Friday fear based promo around "accept Jesus as your one & only savior... or else!" doesn't phase me... listen to how much that mentality was perpetuated back during the same & previous ancient times that Jesus grew up in, & you'll understand why that mentality is still being pushed today, because modern times can't seem to make the transition to understanding what the INTENTION was, being certain biblical text, being written by the minds of man back during those times when fear & relying on an external power was the daily survival mode train of thought. If you didn't accept the governing kingship, you were left out in the cold, subject to hunger & death... same mentality was applied to God, not understanding that God doesn't segregate... HUMANS do.. so please, do not push your fear based mentalities around God on me, as if I didn't grow up reading the bible, heavily involved in church based indoctrination. My relationship with & to God, is as solid as it comes & I regularly commune with other's who are similar on their path in life & finding expansive growth, as a result. My enquiring mind wants to know, what would it be that would make a person with a heart of stone make a statement like that.
I remember reading that when Cecil B. DeMile was planning on making the movie, he had Yul Brenner in mind for playing Ramses. He simply asked him if he wanted to star in a movie his grandchildren would remember him in. Yul gladly accepted.
I saw this movie many times I was younger. I wasn't born in the '60s by the way, I'm actually 20 now. Anyway, back then I didn't fully appreciate cinema like this. I love how Heston has Moses answer "Yes" with a different tone, the first being incredulous as to his decisions being questioned by Pharaoh, then the second with a firm determination to stand up for himself and then the third with a confident assuredness that he made the right calls and was prepared to explain in a way that even Ramses could not insinuate otherwise.
The cast, costumes by Edith Head were stupendous and God even gifted Charlton Heston with baby boy Frasier Heston who portrayef baby Moses in the basket 🧺 Our favorite movie of all time. May they all RIP

It is a great movie. But as a believing Jew let me tell you that it's a complete fiction, except for convincing pharaoh to give the Israelites slaves Shabbos off. G-d doesn't ask any Joe shmo to be a prophet. One had to reach an extremely high level before you could be let's call it promoted to prophecy. Pharaoh was a monster of hitlerian proportions and so was his son. Oh and Korach was a spiritual giant who made a sinfully disastrous mistake. The real villains in his story were Doson and Aviram. They were the 2 Jews who told the authorities that Moses had killed an Egyptian.
@@chanitalevitz4945 🤔 Interesting response. So are you also calling “complete fiction” the ancient scrolls, and other research material used that spawned the script/story? Henry Noerdlinger, the film's researcher, consulted ancient historical texts such as the Midrash Rabbah, Philo's Life of Moses, and the writings of Josephus and Eusebius in order to "fill in" the missing years of Moses' life,[18] and as the film's last opening title card states, "the Holy Scriptures." The legendary producer/director Cecile B. DeMille was no joke.
@Finn MacCool it isn't just hating Christian's, he hates Jewish people too. It's already been proven true by archeology. This guy believes that it's all a myth? Me on the other hand? I'm fifty nine years old. When I was in my mid teens watching this with my family, I noticed John Derick playing the part of Joshua, I told my family how much I liked that name. I said that if I get married and have a son I'd name him Joshua. Thirty four years later and married. My wife gave birth to a son. I lived up to my promise and gave him that name.
My dad did the same for me, I was born 4 months premature. My dad named me Joshua. He said "He'll grow strong to cut stone one day". I'm honored to share the sentiment :) God bless your Joshua and your family .

"cities are made of brick, the strong make many the starving make few and the dead make none." that's a quote that SHOULD be on the mind of every president and C.E.O. in every company in the world with the way the push those working under them to their breaking point. They wouldn't even have their fancy suits, flashy cars or nice houses without the strength of the backs of those who labor under them as they get fatter, lazier, and weaker. their day of reckoning will come sooner than they think, just like Pharaoh's.
Americans worked to the “breaking point”? Don’t make me laugh. If Americans get bored, frustrated, or disappointed with their jobs, they turn to drugs or food. Then they are wasted or obese.

You stay in your box of beliefs, if it suits you...
Celisse, it is never to late to return to God.
Watched it last night. I have a copy but always wait till Palm Sunday to watch. Classic !!!! "Behold his mighty hand" !!!
They used to show it on Holy Saturday but changed it this year to the weekend of Palm Sunday for some reason. Still, I hold the tradition of watching it every year!

Also it is "Highest"... "most" only with adjectives with 3 or more syllables.

The part where the music kicks in when the obelisk is raised is simply just epic… They just don’t make movies like this anymore

The writing of this movie is just amazing. Every line feels so epic.

No, Price is in there. Plays Baka.
The greatest film of all time!
Moses was not just a prince but also an engineer, humanitarian, and future leader. ❤
Like Joseph before him, Moses had practical knowledge as well as spiritual wisdom. 📖
Saw it in the theater in 1957. The intense saturated technicolor, the mellow vacuum tube audio, and sculpted lighting was awesome and cannot be duplicated today.
The best movie ever !!!!! All actors and actresses we're superb !!!!! From evil to good, God wins !!!!
Because the producer derictor was God him self with cicel b demill produce.
Of course God wins, He made all the other creatures lower than Him. He wins by design, God does not even have to try haha
They don't make movies like this anymore...I don't believe they know how.
Couldn't have said it better my friend
No man could wear that bald head better than Yul Brenner, excellent movie, ahead of it time. Still with all of the advancements of today, this is above the rest.

@@kchishol1970 I'm not sure what was bigger. Ramses ego or his hatred for Moses.
@@alonenjersey
The biggest was when Ramses said..
Moses God is God.
He's the same person who said, I do not know this God neither will I let the people go, then later on says, Moses God is God.
My enquiring mind wants to know, what would it be that would make a person with a heart of stone make a statement like that.
Best movie, ever! A motion picture masterpiece, and easily the Biblical epic of all time!
I never get tired of this film. I watch it every single year since I was a kid.

I remember reading that when Cecil B. DeMile was planning on making the movie, he had Yul Brenner in mind for playing Ramses. He simply asked him if he wanted to star in a movie his grandchildren would remember him in. Yul gladly accepted.
And this was his second movie version of Moses, if I remember correctly.
Yes that's true
I saw this movie many times I was younger. I wasn't born in the '60s by the way, I'm actually 20 now. Anyway, back then I didn't fully appreciate cinema like this. But watching it now that I'm older, I am really fascinated with the dialogue, and blown away by the set pieces. This movie is truly a marvel.
dialogue is amazing in this one, watch The Northman also has great ancient dialogue
Of course. And then he backed up his decisions with results.
I’m going to watch this with my wife either tonight or tomorrow night.......... been about 30’yrs since I’ve seen this.
Well, did ya?!
The cast, costumes by Edith Head were stupendous and God even gifted Charlton Heston with baby boy Frasier Heston who portrayef baby Moses in the basket 🧺
Our favorite movie of all time. May they all RIP
Words have difficulty in expressing or describing the dramatic events in scripture as brought to life here by the best that Hollywood ever produced. When I first watched this movie I felt like I had moved back through time and was there on the front row watching these events unfold. Without question the 10 COMMANDMENTS was the best cinematic event ever to be.....
Would love to see it made into an 3-d IMAX version.
To watch these kind of scenes as a child it's quite impressive, it makes you love films.
My father loved this scene so much that he always watched this when we were young. Wish he could have seen it in youtube. Sadly he passed away.

May he rest in peace 🕊️
I hope your dad has a front row seat in Heaven, watching this.🙏
May his soul rest in peace
May your memories of him always be a blessing for you.
Those- are REAL ACTORS- bringing Biblical, Historical figures to the screen!! SUPERB!!
Henry Noerdlinger, the film's researcher, consulted ancient historical texts such as the Midrash Rabbah, Philo's Life of Moses, and the writings of Josephus and Eusebius in order to "fill in" the missing years of Moses' life,[18] and as the film's last opening title card states, "the Holy Scriptures."
The legendary producer/director Cecile B. DeMille was no joke.
Masterful acting.....so superb. Wonderful actors, directors and story telling.

I always liked this movie. I'm not religious really. But it's a really good majestic work of art.
I remember watching this movie as a kid, I'm 34 now, and I remember watching this particular scene and thinking it was the most epic think I ever seen, I was completely blown away by the scale.
Then they are wasted or obese.
we are seeing now that even all the money in the world cant save you when there are things hunting you that are beyond the control of wealth and influence.
That's my favorite line in the whole film.
Slavery is still rampant even today. Especially in developing countries where people work less than $1.25 an hour. Some of them have to work in poor conditions and dont have life security. If they die, they die and replaced. Its sickening.

Yule Brenner played the part of Ramses excellently, Charleston Heston played the part of Moses excellently, and Edward G. Robinson, played the part of a slick snake excellently.
Edward G. The best.
"I bowed lower than my brothers to the Egyptians, and now the Egyptians bow low before me."
Even the staff that Moses had played the better role then the others staffs that other movies of moses had.
Ramses looks deflated in this scene, that's why I always rely on Trojans, they give the best protection.
Narvia Williams You forgot the incomparable Vincent Price as the master builder Baka who is so satisfying to see as the Egyptian that Moses later on kills!!
Edward G. Robinson was excellent as the Kapo.
Will go down in cinematic history as one of the most awesome scenes made using cinemascope
True...still holds up!!
Cinemascope?! Actually the film was shot in Vistavision, Paramount's answer to Cinemascope, that used the equivalent of two 35mm frames of film per frame, running vertically across the camera. I mean it's true that the scene is epic, but saying that Vistavision is Cinemascope is like comparing an apple to an orange.
I'd forgotten what a great movie by fantastic directors and fabulous actors, this was!!! They rarely make them like this nowadays!!! I must watch this masterpiece again, sometime soon!!!
Cecil B. Demile truly gave his best in everything he has done in this movie. This is one of the best classic of all time. Just like "Gone With the Wind" and "Casablanca".
He combined religion, sex an patriotism!! It Never fails!!
