Do This To Improve Your Offense And Adapt Faster

  • Every move you do against a good opponent in a fighting game like Street Fighter 6 forces your opponent to adapt or else you can just keep doing them. All though this is pretty obvious, not many players actually plan out exactly what their opponents counterplay can be, and how they can stay 1 step ahead. Lets learn how we can improve our neutral, pressure and overall strategies to ensure we are also getting the most out of our characters.

This is excellent and reminds me very much of how higher-level Marisa players explained using Gladius to me. Layer one: use Gladius to keep them away from you. Layer two: Now that they’re scared to approach or press a button, walk forward and take space. Pressure them on block. Layer three: Once they start pressing again, Gladius is back, baby. I can’t always execute it in a real match, but understanding those various flow charts across a character’s game plan is huge.

Very scholarly of you to cite Armada and his own higher level tactics. Armada himself was a teacher, so perhaps that experience manifested in that way for his gameplan of testing people.
Our fighting styles draw upon our life.

I'm glad you mentioned that bit about punk, great player that plays to his strengths. I came to the same conclusion when I tried watching vods of bison and realized punks style doesn't suit me and started watching kakeru and others instead

The relaxing music is nice. As a newer player I panic whilst being pressured, whiffing and messing up inputs. It helps looking at things calmly.

I really like this approach. Forming a gameplan then think of various counterplay so you can adapt to those sounds much better and easier to do than trying to read opponent's behaviour on the fly. Thank you so much for this video!

    this is great
i realized as i watched this that ive been subconsciously doing this but i would benefit from giving it more deliberate thought like you outline here. i play manon, which means im a command throw pervert and im trying to land it as often as i can. i noticed awhile back that when i show how often i want to do this lots of players adapt by neutral jumping when they know a command grab could be coming. so sometimes i dont command grab, i just crouch block and if i see the jump i c.HP -> cr.HP and snap them back to the ground again and try to meaty them next time
but there are so many ways players can counter my command grab that i now realize i havent devoted a lot of thought to. i often get put into that "exam" you mentioned and end up failing it since i dont know how X, Y, Z, character can effectively react
im excited to lab later now. i have an empty notebook that could use some scribbling

Offense as data collection has been my turning point sometime last year, this is consistent with those concepts. Great, keep these coming as long as you have fresh ideas!

This came out at the perfect time, i was about to start a training session to learn mind games watching some replays... Nice applicable knowledge, thanks 👍
(And if you notice, this helps with defense too, by knowing the offensive thinking path that the opponent can apply to you.)

Bro! I just started using a notebook for my own reference!
I plan to have it function as my spitballing/theory crafting journal, my list of important concepts to review when I feel like I’m losing a lot, my reference for situational combos that I haven’t worked into my gameplan as of yet, and probably more!
