- This is a TV special that aired on ABC July 4 1992.This concert was in support of his Whenever We Wanted album.
I saw this concert on this tour at The Woodlands Pavillion in the Woodlands Tx.Great show, one of the best concerts I've been to.Had front row seats left center{but not in the pit}and during one song in the concert John and one of his backup dancers went into the crowd and he stood right next to me and sang the song{I was on the very end seat of the section, shook his hand:)}before heading back on stage.I recall him pulling someone out of the crowd to sing Rockin in the USA with him on stage, and I remember walking thru the parking lot after the show and someone saying "theres the guy who got pulled onstage!" Memories
I've had this VHS in my possession a lot of years now that I recorded off the TV.I've always wondered why this was never released on DVD. - Hudba
I was 32 when I watched this special on television in 92. Man, life was so much better then. I'm 63 now, and would love to go back in time to those days. Think I will pop a few Busch Light beers and watch this on CZcams this fourth of July, 2023.
I'm presently watching a John Mellencamp concert which was performed for American ABC on 4th July 1992,he sings all his hits and more,he really gets the whole audience from their seats and dancing as his music even up to the present day,it's really bringing back so many happy memories of wool shed dances I used to go to as I'm now 70 years old and have been following his career right back to his days when he was known as Johnny Cougar, now that makes me real old but I'm still rocking along,
thanks John for the happy memories.

John was 41 at this time, looking and performing like in his 20's. One of America's best!
sexy as hell!
Now he is 72 and his smoking has caught up to him.
He's so cool he pisses ice cubes.🙂
In more recent years, he looks more like somebody who at times doesn't really want to be out there on stage anymore.
@@PaulJackson729 yes, age has certainly taken its toll on John, but I'm glad to have seen him live, in his prime.
What a concert and what a band !
John Cascella and Lisa Germano... great musicianship!!
They were the heart of his most creative period.
John is one of the greatest American song writers.
wow, this dude had more hits than I thought. I remember mom & dad listening to these
Miss this band!
Thank you, really enjoying this so much!❤
I was there. I was sitting right behind the guy they pulled up on stage for R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A. That guy had a 'Johnny Cougar' cover band. I never saw him, but a lot of people said he was really good. Sadly, John Casalle, the one on keyboard and accordion just to the right of the drummer passed away of a heart attack the following November. He was just 45. Of course, Toby Myers, formerly of the Indy band Roadmaster on bass.
I remember watching this Live broadcast on TV that night. And yes, it was a live broadcast not filmed. Holy Crap Batman! It's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
We'd just got home from Fireworks near DC, so being an hour later than Central Time, I was pleased to see this show on TV. I'd have missed it if I'd been living in Cali.
'"Recorded earlier tonight".
I would have given ANYTHING to have gone to a John Mellencamp concert.
Absolutely adored him & his music was tight.
My husband introduced me to his music not long after we were married in 1987.....but we couldn't go because my husband had just gone into a wheelchair due to a motorbike accident.

Sorry to hear about your husband, yeah back in his prime his concerts were pretty awesome

What a beautiful man and a real rockstar he even let the sistas shine brute in the spotlight wow! What a beautiful soul he was back then before he started to recluse on us! I wish cougar the best always! Respect
Extremely Human Music... just LOVE IT!!! 🎵💜💙💚💛🧡❤🎶
Saw John many times--- each time a step and half better
I saw this tour that year- them opening with Love and Happiness, John wearing the tux…the largest version of that great band I think he ever took on the road. So good on every level. I was spoiled early on by seeing Bruce and E Street in 1975. When I first saw JCM and band in the 80s they showed they could hang in the same league…where on a given night they’re as good as it gets. plus I liked John’s songs more lol.
I saw John 4 times during his peak years (and one time more recently- still very good). I feel like the 1992 show may have been the best..but idk they were all so good. Here he has all his big songs all written and part of the set, played in their (now) fully realized acoustic-electric Americana style. And like all truly great rock bands- nobody sounded like John and his band. Just great.
Thanks to the OP for sharing this document of John and his band at their peak.
Mellencamp is an amazing concert experience and this was a fantastic tour great upload thank you
Great singer ,great man!!
I went to one of his concerts in Green Bay, WI but I couldn't see him so thank you for posting this it is a great concert.....
John Mellencamp and his music....."Aint That America"......yes it is.....
So so good .
The most entertaining hour and a half on CZcams!
awesome song a awesome singer♥♥♥.
I was there for the first show on July 3rd, 10th row center. It was a great show.
That’s awesome! I saw that tour in the Woodlands Tx and I also had 10th row center😂
Well it was the front row after what the venue called the “pit”,not sure how many rows were in the pit,10 at the most.I had the very end seat on left center, can’t remember what song it was but John and at least one(coulda been both🤷🏻♂️) of his backup singers came off the stage and stood right next to me and sang some of the song(got to shake his hand)definitely in my top 3 concerts I’ve seen out of about 100
JOHN "Cougar" MELLENCAMP Band fantastic musicians. A.E.V.G.
Kenny Aronoff is one of the most underrated drummers of all time.
believe me , is not underrated
He,, great Star great song wrote great act, to things for,, memories keep gone
I'm a forever fan, thank you for sharing!
The irony is GREAT! Ain't That America!
Always have like John Mellencam music since i was a teenager, this concert was amazing, his hits are one after another and this in the 90's so much more after that. Would love to see him in concert live, but this was great to see. I also I love the commercials, a tire for $21.99 and new cars for $10k, you can not get a used car for $10k. thanks for posting the concert.
Bravissimo bel repertorio!!!!!!
Awesome!
Now this I call rock'n'roll!
I can still remember the time when a particular party asked John Mellencamp if they could use the song (Pink Houses ) in their election campaign in regards their housing policy not realising what the song was actually trying to say and John refusing,I really got a laugh out of that, good on John Mellencamp and keep on rocking.

Sure beats the pharmaceutical pushing nowadays...
Absolute best, One of Yours John ..like minutes to memories..lv iT. Thank You!
( Now lets remove Said S0lar farms out of indiana.)
And ban
It went through my ear at 7:30 pm yeah!!! Now I have three!!!
He had just come back from his "I quit" hissy fit in 1989. He also got rid of his AWESOME1980's guitar - Larry Crane - Never thought he was as good after that - no one knows his songs post Larry Crane!
While I was a fan of Larry Crane to say no one knows his songs post Larry is ridiculous,Whenever we wanted on up to 98’s John Mellencamp had a lot of great songs but after that not that much of a fan of his music
I agree. I think Larry really crafted Mellencamp’s hits but never got a he credit. I love all of Larry’s music.
Maybe if Larry had understood that people were paying to see John Mellencamp and not his lead guitar player, things might have turned out differently. Plus Larry got greedy and demanded a bigger cut of the action than the others. He got a big head.
@@peterguglietta5260 A bigger cut. Ask EVERYONE that was in the John M 80's band if they feel ripped off. As far as John as who they were going to see -- No sir - there were plenty of us who quit going once it became bubble gum guitarist. What arena does he fill now? What radio station plays that newer crap - post 80's songs? NONE! What you hear only these days - is the timeless 80's songs! Hurts so good, Jack and Diane, Small Town, Play Guitar, Aint even done, I need a lover, the Crane songs go on and on. Oh yeah, that was Larry years! Baby John gets cranky because his fans live want him to play that 80's stuff most even these days.
Guau bello❤️😘👍
Check it out my favorite song,¡fantastic John Mellencamp !
He is a multi-artist -- any chance to see his paintings take that chance to do so...
I often wondered what ever happened to the person & to the pink house they won back in the day...
Anyone remember that give-away?
Holy ManGina....Just here for the Mentos commercial....THE FRESH MAKER

Quite the drum theatrics Kenny. LOL 14:08
As talented as his replacement was, Larry Crane was sorely missed. You can hear the change
Deer Creek ain’t exactly In Indianapolis. It’s in Noblesville, a suburb of the city
That's the last time I liked his hair
Good stuff but I’m partial to the Larry Crane days!
I liked Larry Crane also but Whenever we Wanted was a great album
Thanks for posting Great concert Even the commercials a treat. Could not believe number of white people in them.
Where's the moshpits?
I wonder who the lady and Snoopy were at the end.
Well I recorded this on VHS in 92 when it aired,so that was some footage I recorded over. That was my wife and my dog, from the looks of it she looked like she was trying to work out with those ankle weights on, she would kill me if she knew this was on there😂
Shouldn't you be smoking a cigarette ?
He was a biker during his heyday. Once he became famous, he dropped his biker name "Cougar", then dropped the bikers, then he dropped his wife for a model. Typical cliche.
