Can you lose weight and get fit while riding an e-bike? That is what this video and upcoming videos will be all about. I currently weigh 262.2 pounds right before I went on my first R&M Homage 22-mile ride on November 24, 2021. I would love to hear from you in the comments plus I’ll do my best to answer any questions.
Steve the owner of Seacoast Ebikes was amazing to work with and he also is a fellow Homage rider. He currently lost 42 pounds since owning his bike. I got a tour of the shop and I was AMAZED at how many Riese & Muller’s bikes he has in stock plus other e-bikes.

Lovely ride, your Homage is cruising well. Living with heart & bone ills and leg/knee troubles, my dealer has talked me into this one. It assists us, the lame, the short and tall. That frame can accomodate up to 6'6-8". It has power, range and can go off-road. Compares favourably with the Super Delite. Really, if you aren't twenty anymore, well, what?
Great video. Its hard to find owner reviews. I look forward to more rides. I'm hoping to get the Riese & Muller Supercharger 2. Great video.
Thank you. So far I love riding my Homage exploring where I live. I’m always amazed how I can go up so many hills with help from the bike that I wouldn’t be able to do with my non Ebike. You’ll love your Supercharger 2.
Great bicycle! Have fun on it!
Congratulations 🎊 one getting my dream bike loool enjoy
Pretty cool set up..
Nice bike. Hope you have enjoyed having it.
Thank you.
Great bike. Ordering a Reise & Müller Charger 4 HS later today.
It is a very informativo video. Thank you.
Thank you. Happy 2022.
Is there a year later update following this? I would really like to know has the Homage still your e-bike of choice, did you lose the weight, are there any changes you made to the accessories, etc?
Hi. Thanks for the detailed video. Can you please provide more info on the Specialized Bennies Platform Pedals? What made you pick those particularly? Are you still happy with these for commuting?
Thank you. Seacoast E-Bikes had the peddles in stock so I added them when I picked up the Homage. So far, they are great. Ride safely.
Lovely video- this is the bike of my dreams, but out of league price-wise. Curious to know how you find the R&M front bag. Like you I have this on my bike (a Nevo 2) with Ortleib Back Rollers.
I actually find the back rollers a lot easier to take on and off...
Thank you for the comment. I keep my front bag on all of the time holding tools, batteries and my spare charger. I don’t keep the rear bags on but instead using a trunk or milk crate.
how many of the gears on the Rohloff do you end up using? I have a enviolo CVT on my Gazelle and adjust it all the time as I am riding to get the right gear; like a volume dial.
Once I get into low gear climbing up steep hills I don’t change the gear. I also have 85nm or torque from the Bosch system so I never had any problems climbing up hills.
What do you do when the motor dies? Can you purchase a motor on its own and what do you do if they don't make that particular motor anymore? Is the bike basically scrapped?
How is the navigating function on nyon display? Is the 3d map good?
I haven’t used the navigation on the Nyon display since I have the smart phone mount. Hopefully, I can try it once the weather gets better in the Boston area.
Had a roll of 75 cargo bike witch I chop in fo homage I waiting delivery the 75 took over six months to get to me may have been Covid. Anyhow I would like to know the comfort handle bars are and are you likening them ,by the way I’m getting a ls low speed cargo motor, why ? The reason is more grunt for towing my burley ocxc camping trailer single wheel for keeping the weight off the bike when off road fitted with go tires only regret was I did not order a seat drop post. Uk
How is the pedal cadence at 28mph with that Rohloff in top gear? Do you have to pedal really fast, or is it a fairly reasonable cadence?
To get up to 28 mph with pedal assist I’m peddling pretty hard on E-14 gear. I’m working hard to gain that speed. Next time I ride my Homage I’ll try to remember to have the GoPro looking at the lcd.
@@WaltervanDusen Cool, thanks - When I'm going in top gear with mine, I have pedal pretty fast at 28mph (usually going downhill), so I'm curious about the Rohloff...
I like the look of the handlebars the way they are swept back, do you know what this style is called.
R&M Comfort kit
The perfect option for anyone wanting to ride in greater comfort: the classically curved handlebars and wider saddle enable you to sit comfortably in an upright position.
Can I ask what the make / type of the rear saddlebags is. I really would like separate rear bags for my Homage but can’t find any that fit their specialist rear rack type.
They look like Ortlieb "Back-Roller Pro Plus" panniers.
How far can it go with dual battery change? Thanks
I haven’t drained the battery to zero percent but I did recently go around 35 miles on very hilly roads mostly in turbo and still had around 35 miles of range. Such as anything dealing with range, weight, ride mode, road conditions, etc always plays a factor. I personally feel very comfortable and confident if I only ride in Turbo I would get around 40 miles where I live which is very hilly.
What does the riser seat do? I’ve never used one before and curious as to it’s purpose. Thanks
It’s a dropper seat post. I corrected my verbiage in upcoming bike ride videos. By pushing on a lever mounted on my handle bars I’m able to “drop” the seat when approaching stops then pushing the lever again while rising up. This allows me to stay seated with my feet planted on the ground. Very useful for off reading but for me especially helpful for the many stops I have to do where I live.
@@WaltervanDusen ah! So when you're stopped you're not on your tip toes! Great idea! Thanks
@@Fogmeister it’s very nice to have so from now on, I’ll not have an ebike without a dropper seat post.
Nice bike, but what's that, sorry, poor frontlight?
When you order it in the EU you have a epic frontlight with highbeam function, a Supernova M99 Mini Pro-45.
The Highspeed version should have the best frontlight even more.
The amazing Magicshine® Monteer 8000S Galaxy V2 MTB Headlight that I installed for night time riding is much more powerful than the Supernova that came with my bike. I’m in the USA
Just out of curiosity, are you losing weight using the bike?
Slowly but surely I am. Now it’s winter here in Lexington, MA with very icy roads so no riding at the moment.
I was watching your MinuteMan Trail video. Prior to looking at your channel I was pricing the Riese and Muller bikes. Whew. Although I want a bike, I'm going to have to spring for something a bit cheaper. Still, your videos make the R & M bikes tempting...
