That’s pretty admirable how Gwinn disclosed how much he made in a year. Most riders wouldn’t say.
Yeah. Instantly doubled my respect for him.
@@paulahner2101 Same here.
Very cool of Gwin and he deserves this coin after all of his great performances imo.
I remember reading one of the reasons he said he did was so that other racers could get an idea of what they could get.
He's gotta be one of the most humble and down to earth dudes in the sport! Definitely a prime role-model for riders.
Phenomenal editing in there. Finally the fruit of Redbull sponsoring MTB. Please don't stifle the small independent producers that also enhance the sport greatly for the fans
Sam Pilgrim seems to be doing okay, just brand new fox forks chillin in his garage
He does CZcams as well tho so he'll be making quite a lot from that
Jim McDonald CZcams doesn’t pay much
@@jooncash8844 he does when it's over 1m sub...
He doesn't run for red bull... That why monster energy pay
@@tallyrobinson9438 Exactly, he has built a brand and large following. He can monetize many different ways.
Doing what you love for a living is priceless, right?
true
Reminds me of an old joke in the fly fishing guide community.
What do you call a guide without a girlfriend?...
Homeless
Still gotta pay the bills brosef
Not when you're old and got to pay the bills
If you're not working for someone to do it yet. It's priceless. However, under contract, you will always have a price. Small or big ... Still a price.
This is the only reason I like Monday’s
Absolutely ❤❤
Here we go, most awaited moment of the week!
Oh yeah I love this series
I love this series so much! Makes my Monday’s so much better!
One of the most insightful videos yet guys, love it. Keep it up.
That was a great episode...I would watch a full on documentary about this subject....so much to get into here!
I don't think they are underpaid... It's the football that pays too much to the athletes... Why I say this? Well, how many engineers/doctors and others that have high responsibility jobs (that are responsible for peoples life's and safety or even for people's jobs...) are earning +1million? Still, for some of these professionals, if something goes rong, they may just lose their freedom (prison) or at least their job FOR LIFE. Plus, most of them had to invest a lot in their education and spend a lot of time studying to become what they dream to be while these athletes were already living their job/dream (instead of going through a very long and demanding process to finally start to race...)
You can say there are only a few athletes with this level and for that reason they should be valued... Sure but more than those professionals that are responsible for your life or your job? The pressure these athletes feel is only regarding their career, not others lifes or for instance, if their brand goes bankrupt... ;)
I’ve been asking this question for the past few years. Finally!!! Amazing as always Red Bull. This never gets old🔥🔥🔥🤯🤯🤯😍😍😍
N 17 can u give me a time stamp for the answer?
RHETTIRO 9:01
i love fast life! never stop producing the series!
The Into for fast life never gets old
They deserve as much as any other sport definitely!
especially because it is extreme sport
Toxic Hobbit exactly! The risk is much higher
wrong....they deserve as much as they bring in
Ernest Frigelj so premiership footballers deserve 6+ million a year when at times they might not even pay nor perform. My issue really is that many sports are way ahead in terms of pay and they are not putting themselves in the line of fire every week. It’s more that the other sports over earn but MTB definitely deserves to be on par it’s a huge industry with high cost products
It really all depends on what the industry dictates and how much money there is to go around you cant really say that downhillers and football players should be payed the same American football is a 15 billion dollar industry and cycling is nowhere close to that just less money to go around is all
Keep going fast life, good job on these series.
8:50 what you came here for
All these riders are phenomenol athletes and brand ambassadors. Given the risks and their short-lived careers, they deserved be paid a lot of money. Also, most MTB riders I know are awesome people!
Very interesting video. Much respect for riders at that level.
It makes me feel soo motivated!!
nba salaries should be like this, effort first before the money
you don't play ball.
I LOOOOOOVE that series so much !!!!!!!
I love that Intro
makes me cringe
Jorge Briceno you gotta just embrace it........like country.
@@jorgebriceno173 it's like dancing, it's better if you roll with the cringe
Super Bruni
Apart from Gwin nobody actually answered the question- the title of the video is misleading. The title should have been ‘how much time can you waste watching a video that doesn’t give the answers it promised’. And the answer is about 15 minutes.
Well now you know not to watch again.
Well this got me fired up about my Nica race this weekend. Lol
Best series ever
I need a series like this for ski
Redbull snow my friend
Wow it's nice to hear from the financial perspective of sports.
I enjoyed this maybe do one about the up and coming pros too?
Great video!
Kate said 50 cent...I done did two movies with him. 👌🏽. Keep doing these, they keep us inspired!
I did * you you don't need to add the "done " have a wonderful day !
My Basements on Fire it just sounds cooler
@@mybasementsonfire4833 The man doesn't have english as his first language give him some slack.
I can’t believe how underpaid these athletes are. Even Gwin doesn’t get paid enough.
Yeah and I for sure believe that the company /companies involved in this sport (and many other sports) are making big sums out of the athletes performance. It's sad indeed.
Used carbon like new it’s partly due to greed but also partly due to that the industry does not get as much proportional profit as other industries
Niche sport.
And some guy kicking a ball around makes 50 times that.
@@dumbr2098 unless he's in college
Really enjoy this series! Not looking forward to it being done😕
What is the song playing at (10:25) ?? It's awesome!
Anyone know what brand and style of glasses hes wearing?
13:20 wasn't Pierron supposed to be 3rd in Val Di Sole. Look at the the timer and when he crosses the finish line.
Also did that whip cost him the ovr??
Definitely lost some time with that whip but I don’t think it was enough for the overall title.........I think he lost the overall with his dab right bfor the flat out pedal section at snowshoe. That’s why dany hart was like .8 of a second behind amuray before that spot and then he suddenly gained a whole second right after it.
Loved it ❤
I wanna be a pro motocross rider and a pro bike rider, and i know what its like to simply obtain a wheelie or a stoppie, and a world championship win could be the best feeling! I want to obtain that and i have really big motivation for this. My friends say that with my bike i could race because my technique is good and with that motivation i have i can be a champion one time. Thats the dream of my life! But in my country this sport is really in the background and you cant really show what you have in your pocket. But im gonna take my every bit of power and put it into the sport, and hope for the best! And these videos always remembering me to never give up on my dreams! Thank you!
it's a great philosophy but just remember very few of people make it. I would recommend not quitting education/jobs/highschool (depending on your scenario) and focusing on education until you are truly good enough. Maybe a better mindset is to just enjoy the sport, want to get better at it not for the chance of becoming pro but because you love the sport in general.
Keep up the videos!!!!
Awesome. Good to see the top guys and girls starting to feel comfortable talking about money. That's the only way the sport will set it's value and see some proper influx of investment from outside sponsors, in line with other sports. As they say "Love don't pay the bills".
But they didnt other than one rider who gave a million figure - the rest were just bluffing
nice épisode
omg i'm so pumped and I don't even have a mountain bike!
lyssword that’s the right spirit! 🤟🏻
Lol
Chop chop, get to it then!
Does anyone know what brand are the eyeglasses the financial advisor is using?
Francisco Ramírez smith optics
Great video
Let’s go new episode
What is the song that starts at 6:15?
Muy buen video
That’s an epic intro
There just like sales reps at the end of the day they have a base and if you win you get a bonus or you come in to 10 you get a percentage it’s up to the rest of your sponsors to make up the salary you want
Does anybody know if I can find a video of a list of what top MTB riders are worth?
Fabio Wibmer must be ballin 🤣
I got a million dollars for whoever can tell me what kind of glasses the agent is wearing!? Marty Whitely?
100 percent Centric.. where's my $1M? :)
If u had a million
You WOULD know
I think we all understand the cost vs value piece of this equation, would have liked to hear more numbers. ... that was the title of this video right?
@Scott Martin Perhaps you should stop using 'click bait' to get folks to watch your videos. The reality is that you could have given estimates for salaries and not posted names...
@Scott Martin HA! I watched the video on CZcams, not a lot of text... but that's ok.
This series is so freakin' good! Would have loved to see some women's DH though - my only gripe.
Missing men's XC as well.
Scott Martin you’re joking.
@@GarryFPV No, he used to
Braŭljo what? I wasn’t even talking to you buddy
@@GarryFPV It's called a "not OP, but okay"
Speaking as an ex pro race weeks were the days of, as well as travel, other than that in order to be the best you have to be prepared to train everyday even on Christmas day in 4ft of snow or 2 ft of rain water with winds that are so cold the dirt off the road freezes to you, when not on the bike you go to gym or whatever your routine is, finally you make sure that your machine fits and responds like an extra body part or all of the above is nearly pointless.
I love how the title question takes more than 14 minutes and still no definite answer.
Try and tell this "information" to the tax man next time you see him, I dare you.
Gwin gave info
I just don’t get how these people have so much courage
Very interesting, the full length version more so, possibly gives an understanding of why some cyclists choose to cheat with the rewards so lucrative.
Very nice 👌
Hopefully their salaries grow as the sport grows
When i come you better run!
The sports been around since the late 80's. How much longer does it need to be around.
Does anyone know what the song is, it's like children singing around minute 3:36
have you found it yet
Whats the name of the song at 3:35
i need the answer to this
Meanwhile some guys earn tens of millions just by kicking a ball on the grass...
Semen Sh. Think about how much bigger football is that Mtb
@Scott Martin IF
Sports linked to Gambling industry always pay well.
chyu89 well, I think we can work something out.......
And this is only money that they earn for playing- maybe a half of that they earn overall.
Very very tough physically and mentally
How come it's always Men's DH and Women's XCO that redbull covers the most when making MTB content? Are their biggest riders in these disciplines? Are these the disciplines that get the most views? I feel like I know nothing about the state of men's XCO and women's DH lol
So true
DOWNHILL
To get handsome men and beautiful women 😂
they didn't even mention Nino Schurter lol :D
We meet again, Zlatan!
Wasnt Shaun Palmer earning 1 mil in like 1999......crazy
X Games and US Postal Service brought corporate money from across the globe into mountain biking because it was the crossover sport for extreme sports and big money TdF (lot of XC racers were on road teams). It was insanity. That money is still out there....
A bad day has now turned into a good day
Uma dublagem ou até legendas para o Brasil séria bem legal
The agent's glasses are dope. Very geometric. Anybody got an ID?
100% Daze or Centric?
Nice
Honestly was super surprised that's all Gwinn had made for a year at his level. Hmm..
The agent looks so much like Martyn Ashton
Whatever it is, it’s not enough, but you get to ride rad bikes and awesome courses. I’m sure it improves your dating odds too.
So between 30k and 1mi pa?
TL:DW? How much?
1 million for the top rider a year.
Between 0 and 1,000,000 (salary, bonuses, sponsors, book tours, etc. Combined)
Why there is no roadbike?
Legenda em português???????
G unit! 😂
makes me miss the USAF... I got paid to go to the gym and stay fit to fight
Seeing how little these athletes are getting paid makes me hate football even more
Yes, let's compare the most popular sport on earth, watched by millions of people with mountain bike riding.
@@misterlove6225 Exactly. It is not only how good and awesome they are. It is about the money involved in the sport A.K.A, how big is the audience and therefore how valuable is that platform for sponsors.
Not sure why you would hate a sport just because it generates more revenue than mountain biking. The market decides how much these riders get paid. If a ton of people watch mountain biking, then the riders would get paid more. It's as simple as that.
Sounds like you were picked last at the pickup football game lol
@@Nattyrute Haha actually i wasn't but whatever.
Gwin be ballin'
This is suprisingly honest
Hmm how much? No real anser in this movie
But I did hear that van der Poel also got an offer from Red Bull.... his anser whas, did you forget a 0
Compared to other sports mtb/cyling doesn't pay that well
When you look beneath the money, glamour and fame, these people are really just being used by companies to get their returns and even sad that just one fall is all it takes to end all this. You give it your all and you lose it all, it's all you. It's a bittersweet livery to live with. Hmmm...
With high risk comes high rewards
special mention to downhill racers. sponsors are here when you famous but if you crash and get handicapped it is another story.
so how much?
so how much do they get paid
Näf is swiss, she isn't going to talk about money.
We all know they ain't do It for the money, they do in it for the seeendddinggg
Forget how much they make, the real question is how much do their parents have to make for their kids to become MTB stars in the first place? Kate grew up in a $6 million Marin estate. How else did she end up where she is now?
Is Pauline's right pupil larger than her left?
The crazy thing is whatever these guys are making you can bet Seth bike hacks and Sam Pilgrim are making at least 5x.
Wow, I thought even Aaaron Gwin doesn't earn squat. Apparently the top racers do earn at least some money.
Yan Doroshenko you haven’t been paying attention to the new house he’s building or his recent car purchases, I guess
@@biznatcho7 Of course not, why should I?
Apart from Gwin, did they say how much the XC riders get? or anyone else for that matter. They all deserve what they get and probably more. Just would like to know.
Nope. I was hoping they would give us an overall average or separated by tiers. But all they provided was the top rider with multiple championships.
I'm genuinely surprised how little money Gwinn makes, one of the very best in the world and takes home 1 million with all his sponsers combined. Thats like 2 or 3 weeks pay for some sportsman that arent even the very best in there sport.
Imagine what the main stream bike manufacturers make in a year.
Gwinn makes a great sum of money for how tiny and niche the sport is. The audience for DH racing is super small so there is less products to advertise and sell (not to mention their cost). Not many people are going to watch a race and then go spend 10k on a bike to be like Gwinn. The barrier to entry is high and really is dependent on where you live so it makes getting new blood in the sport harder. For those of us in the sport - we see it as much larger than it is and because we know how risky the sport is we tend to think it should be valued more but that often doesn't come across to those who aren't involved. Also there are a ton of players across the major league sports making under a million a year.
Surprising to hear north America is the top market.
I miss my Element yellow
Stolen
I wonder how much brendog earns.. UCI races + Red bull events ..
Martin Whiteley looks like Keemstar
In redbull fastlife s12 or 13, i will be featured in it
Hope u do good look
1 million dollars a year??? Damn this guy could buy 1 million bannanas with that kind of money
