      I don't think they are underpaid... It's the football that pays too much to the athletes... Why I say this? Well, how many engineers/doctors and others that have high responsibility jobs (that are responsible for peoples life's and safety or even for people's jobs...) are earning +1million? Still, for some of these professionals, if something goes rong, they may just lose their freedom (prison) or at least their job FOR LIFE. Plus, most of them had to invest a lot in their education and spend a lot of time studying to become what they dream to be while these athletes were already living their job/dream (instead of going through a very long and demanding process to finally start to race...)
      You can say there are only a few athletes with this level and for that reason they should be valued... Sure but more than those professionals that are responsible for your life or your job? The pressure these athletes feel is only regarding their career, not others lifes or for instance, if their brand goes bankrupt... ;)

      Ernest Frigelj so premiership footballers deserve 6+ million a year when at times they might not even pay nor perform. My issue really is that many sports are way ahead in terms of pay and they are not putting themselves in the line of fire every week. It’s more that the other sports over earn but MTB definitely deserves to be on par it’s a huge industry with high cost products

    • @AUSTIN_RIDES
      @AUSTIN_RIDES Před 4 lety +18

I want to obtain that and i have really big motivation for this. My friends say that with my bike i could race because my technique is good and with that motivation i have i can be a champion one time. Thats the dream of my life! But in my country this sport is really in the background and you cant really show what you have in your pocket. @@misterlove6225 Exactly. It is not only how good and awesome they are. It is about the money involved in the sport A.K.A, how big is the audience and therefore how valuable is that platform for sponsors.

      Not sure why you would hate a sport just because it generates more revenue than mountain biking. The market decides how much these riders get paid. If a ton of people watch mountain biking, then the riders would get paid more. It's as simple as that.

    When you look beneath the money, glamour and fame, these people are really just being used by companies to get their returns and even sad that just one fall is all it takes to end all this. You give it your all and you lose it all, it's all you. It's a bittersweet livery to live with. Hmmm...

    I'm genuinely surprised how little money Gwinn makes, one of the very best in the world and takes home 1 million with all his sponsers combined. Thats like 2 or 3 weeks pay for some sportsman that arent even the very best in there sport.
    Imagine what the main stream bike manufacturers make in a year.

    • @corail53
      @corail53 Před 4 lety

      Gwinn makes a great sum of money for how tiny and niche the sport is. The audience for DH racing is super small so there is less products to advertise and sell (not to mention their cost). Not many people are going to watch a race and then go spend 10k on a bike to be like Gwinn. The barrier to entry is high and really is dependent on where you live so it makes getting new blood in the sport harder. For those of us in the sport - we see it as much larger than it is and because we know how risky the sport is we tend to think it should be valued more but that often doesn't come across to those who aren't involved. Also there are a ton of players across the major league sports making under a million a year.
