Portland here. If you've ever traveled the back roads in Oregon...especially through the rain forest...especially at night, you'd know, *anything* is possible. 😐

Washington's worse! Some of these small logging towns up here harbor some deep dark secrets... don't forget a lot of the serial killers come from up here too (the ones you know about at least).
And there's monsters all right. People just call it Bigfoot but that's nothing but a deflection, a catharsis to deal with what's really going on.
Personally I think it's the lack of sunshine and all this rain. And the forests they're mighty dark and deep here... hundreds of miles of logging roads. I walk them all the time.
Considering the area, sasquatch could make an appearance!🥶😱
Well, I had an interesting story to tell about horror and and other serial killers here in the PNW, other than vampires, but the _Karen_ of this channel decided to delete it for some reason.
Not bad. This short novel by King still haunts me decades after reading it. It's truly one of the best short horror stories of all times imo. The slight characters changes aren't annoying but it lacks in pure dread and cold despair as in the story!
I like that this short film is a mini-continuation of Stephen King's, "Salem's Lot" book/film. Terrific follow-up!!
It's based on "One for the Road," a story from "Night Shift" that's exactly that, a coda to "Salem's Lot."
This has always been one of my favorite Stephen King short stories. Not exactly like the written version but still creepy and well done.

Silver Bullet was me and my family’s favorite scary movie growing up. I didn’t know until a few years ago that it was by Steven King. The part when Marty is lighting fireworks scares the hell out of me.

Terrible acting. And when is this supposed to take place? Our time or ten years after the events in Salems lot? Because she says ten years ago that people went missing. But they’re talking about Google, and not being able to smoke in bars as if it’s today. So are you moving the timeline up? Because she mentioned the bar starting up in 1971 which would’ve been around the appropriate time for the books, but then she says 10 years ago people started disappearing. If you still mean for this to take place in the same universe as the books, or if you mean it to be historical accurate according to the books, then the book Salems lot being 10 years before this would make it 1985, still way before Google and woke bar policies.
@@bwy553My thoughts exactly! Too many self-serving hacks too lazy to do decent research of the genre, who's monstrous egos are fueled by friends and family and gaggles of sycophants (usually the actors you see in the movie) at their so-called "premiere"!

Stephen King is like the most popular author in the U.S. I will say his Salem's Lot movie has one of the scariest scenes of all time when the Glick kids are floating outside the window asking for entry. Never invite them in!! I don't even like to think about that scene and I'm almost 60! Best, from Colorado!

100% AGREE! This FAB King short screams "full-length" using the same actors. They were terrific!!!
As a kid Salem's Lot messed me up, so I absolutely loved this one. And if I'm not mistaken that was Bella Lagosi's Dead playing in the background.
The jail scene left me physically shaking, I was only 9 years old when I watched it.

Hello Sunshine. I would like to say that this is a wonderful adaptation of Stephen Kings short story sequel to Salem's Lot. I love the acting and the drama in this short film. It is so brilliant. Please keep this video on CZcams Sunshine. This is a real treasure and God Bless you for sharing it

It’s already a movie. It’s called “Salems lot”. It was made in 1975 and the a sequel in 1987. I heard they may be coming out with a remake this year.
@@hotlittlezombiekiller2729 this is an adjacent story to salems lot. It is in the book “Night Shift” if I remember correctly. The prequel is called Jerusalem’s Lot.

This is excellent. Good old fashion horror from humanity and the story. Not mindless crass gore.
The original Salem's Lot was scary as hell when I saw it as a little kid but the book, I read that in high school and I swear I was looking down hallways and checking the end of the lockers for a time after I read it.
Nothing like his writing but King knows how to bring the fear.

Brilliant short film, simple and effective acting and script. Stephen King's stories don't always translate well on screen, but this one goes a long way.
I live near "Jerusalem's Lot" and its true there are vampires here, but they're mostly the energy sucking variety

This is one of MY FAVORITE short stories of Stephen King….. creeps me tf out every time I read it… this one, The Boogeyman and 1408 all had me sleeping with the lights on….. good adaptation !

This is the best adaptation of One for the Road I've seen so far. Salem's Lot is my favourite ever novel and I'm really looking forward to the new movie (if it's ever released). Only nitpick was changing the setting to Oregon, and the lack of blizzard (but that's understandable) Great short film.
they're talking about portland maine, unless i missed something the story's geographical area is the same as the story.
@@jasonbatteiger2421 When they're talking in the bar about Salem's Lot, Booth mentions that the town is named after an old town in Maine. There's a couple of other clues, but I'd have to rewatch to be sure.
@@jasonbatteiger2421 Booth says that the founder of the Lot came out there from Maine in 1863, and named it after some town in Maine.

portland (maine for sure) is mentioned in the story, it's the expected place rich folks dumb enough to buy land in the lot often come from, also those ignorant enough to even take the highway exit near the lot.

True King style and love that he brings in the provenance of his past literary creations. Stephen King's world feels real. Love his stuff and his characterization is spot on

Nice work! This has always been my favorite short story by Stephen King. It's too bad you couldn't do the snowstorm, since it adds so much to the direness of the situation and makes it difficult for the characters to see what's going on. But I totally understand. That would have been impossible to shoot. But you all did fantastic! I really liked the lead. Good choice!
It would've been very eerie to see the red eyes of the vampires flitting by the windows as in the short story.

This was fun. The only thing that isn’t consistent with “Salem’s Lot” (other than the location change, which I don’t understand…) is how quickly a person becomes a vampire. SL says it takes a few days, but this has people changing almost immediately (or so it seemed to me). It’s been so long since I read “One For The Road” that I can’t remember if that is what happened in that short story.

The adaption of this story resulted in making the series 'Salem's Lot" There are many more short stories by King when he was writing as Richard Bach

You know, Salems lot is my favorite vampire story. And I love one for the road also. But there is one hole in the story. At the end of Salem’s lot, it goes through a bunch of newspaper articles that shows animal attacks in neighboring towns where are the animals blood was drained and it even had some missing persons in neighboring town. And yet in one for the road the vampires are portrayed as staying in Salem’s lot. If they’re not restricted to the soil, as Dracula is in the original Bram, Stoker book, why would they stay? and why would they not eventually close access to the town and send someone in to investigate all the disappearances?

This is my favorite story from Night Shift, hands down. I love that the protagonist is a woman. This is the best thing I've seen all year.

I honestly do not know why some of these adaptations of One For The Road change the gender of Lumley's child from a girl to a boy. The little girl vampire from the short story is much more terrifying, and besides, we already did the little boy vampire thing with Danny Glick.
Yes,they should have kept Lumleys child a girl. The endline was "she was waiting for her good night kiss"
I agree and the fact it was snowing not raining and the little girl was walking on top of the snow and not creating any footprints. This story wasn't bad though. It would have been expensive probably to do that so I do not want to criticize too much. Thanks for making it.

I like this one. I know that I risk antagonizing fans of Salem's Lot (1979), but I think vampires are much scarier if they resemble humans and can walk among us and lure unsuspecting victims to their death I was put off by Barlow being the ONLY Nosferatu type vampire in the movie.

Stephen King and Anne Rice are my two favorite authors!! I love Kings short stories, direct and to the point and always excellent!! I learned to write by reading Kings book called "Memoir of writing". It's amazing read it if you can

This was a good short film adaption of "One for the Road", Stephen King's short horror story. I was curious, however, why the location was changed to Oregon from Maine. I mean, not that it changes the film's effectiveness or anything. It just seemed strange, in my personal opinion. Good acting and atmosphere, regardless.
