it seems to me that all short films are award winners these days.
I wish I'd stop watching these horror shorts at bedtime.
Same 😄
Good thing the acting in most of these are pretty terrible, so it isn't even spooky. "award winning", yeah clearly not for the acting lmao.
@@boredgamer7841😂😂
It's 11pm on a Wednesday, I have to tell myself this is the last one
Let me try to explain this as best as I can. The old guy has come from the future to fulfill some sort of a fantasy where he murders his friends when they were still young. For this, he visited his younger self, and clearly emotionally traumatised him. And then executed the plan where he pretended to be dead and all. He knew they'd go to his younger self with the tapes, and one of the tapes was of their murder that was yet to take the place. He had this tape as well because, well, he's from the future, where he has already done this; when past is altered so is the future. I guess the most twisted part is that it seems more like he wanted to traumatise his younger self. You can see that when the younger self says "he is me", he is clearly trying to fight off some messed up emotions and coming to terms with his sad future reality - the one who where he becomes a serial killer. However, I don't think I completely understand it because the dates present a loophole. He acts surprised when he realises that this guy has been murdering since the 90s, which means that the incidents in the movie take place after the first killing. This further implies that the younger self had already been murdering since a long time, and this negates his reaction in the movie.
i'm still processing what i just saw, but maybe the old psycho travels in time to do the killings? i mean, he went to back to1990 to murder someone, so the date is 1990
i don't know if it makes sense.
I enjoyed the film, overall
@@Oriol-oo7jl That's my thought. It wouldn't make sense anyways because clearly they are in the 2020s or at least in the late 2010s, judging by the smartphone one of the guys is using. So, having in account they look 20-30s, the killer would be either a baby or hadn't born at all when the first tape recording took place.
Also, I think the one we see lying on the ground has been attacked by the other one we see in the house, because maybe he knew the only way to fool them was by actually killing that version of himself, which involves a whole lot of new questions and paradoxes. Or maybe he just stopped his pulse at the exact moment he wanted somehow (I mean, he's from the future).
I don't know which sounds more far fetched but man gotta love these short films...
Could be split personality
How do you pretend to have no pulse? That doesn't fit honestly.
@@MrBeetsGaming That's precisely why I think he somehow killed his other self, hence he really had no pulse (he was actually dying)
"Award winning short" is proving to be an EXCELLENT search query. All you have to do is add a genre to the query to find your particular favorites. I add HORROR, SCI FI, and my real love which is SCI FI OUTERSPACE HORROR.
Thanks to you and the many others who are generating such mind provoking stories. I'm in awe of your talents and skills. Give us more!
In awe of what, badly blocked shorts with lame cliffhangers? Good thing they didnt have to develop that story
@@williamchristie9129some of these shorts are damn good, like “portrait of god” (go check that one), but too many of them are like this. Just super uninspired, unconvincing, and just not scary. And the amount of them with thumbnails of like 50 awards is hilarious to me
Who is giving out these "awards?" Seems like the moviemakers are just patting themselves on the back.
This short's story didn't even GO anywhere....
@@timothyback4235 your mom gives out a lot of awards... what, are you 17 or something
now they just have to keep the award giving for actual good shorts
So here's how I interpret it. If I'm incorrect, please feel free to let me know how.
There's Bathrobe man in the present (B1) who's friends with the 2 final victims. Eventually he'll travel back to the 90s (as B2) and spend 30 years killing people. That's who we see holding the camera in the very end. Then, an even older version of him (B3) sends the completed tapes (or at least the final one) back to B2, who forces B1 to ensure his friends watch it and become traumatized.
How's that sound?
Ya it’s very good, I just don’t think there’s a B3, I assume B2 plays the role of B3 as well as his own for the sake of simplifying things. So what you see in the movie is what you get, it’s hard enough to follow the time travel theme as is in a 9 minute short.....but then to also figure about some unknown quantity is even more taxing.
good enough for me, but how? where was his time travel device??
Yeah but how did he die? Natural causes?
my favourite part of these short films is everyone's analysis. They are always so interesting
Especially when we can simply ask the director.
@@Hilljoona I understand but it's interesting to hear everyone's POV. It's a form of art so even with the directors analysis, it can still be subjective to the viewer.
@@biancaharley11_11 Agreed. I enjoy reading about viewers' interpretations more than the director's intention.
sigo apostando por 'the chair' ...that one was soooo creepy
Yes indeed
Similar to what we are doing here..
So creepy! People getting trapped in the woods being a common thing is already scary enough, and the Sinister-esque home movies on top of that is major Nope territory there!
Gotta love a time traveller who uses the power to make snuff films. I mean... What else could time travel possibly be good for?
A serial killer who can time travel? That's terrific
When some of the best films, are shorts, just like this?! Makes you just want more, and more!
I think I have just about watched every genre, in short films?! And I have to say… they by far, outdo some major films!
Wants you begging for more!!
Great production.
Great acting.
The location. Everything! A job well done! Hat off to all involved!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I think too many films have a great 10 minute idea stretched out to 2 1/2 hours and 100 million dollar budget.
Theyre good cause they only show the good part and miss all the bullsht and bad acting..
I'm sorry but, good acting? I've seen many horror shorts in the last few weeks with excellent acting.. with this one I have to say, the acting was pretty bad.. especially the vlogger guy
WOW!!! That was surprisingly good, I wanted more, and it was CREEPY!!!
"you're the only person we know who still has all this video stuff. " Ouch. My oldness. :P
That was brilliant, one of the best reveals/twists I've seen in a long time. Well done!
I've never seen so much dread packed into so short a film!! I subscribed...want to see more, please!
Holy crap that was good! This should have way more likes. Freaking awesome! A whole, coherent, creepy AF movie in 9 minutes? Yes, please!
I've come back to this film and changed my mind. I now see something very good about the delivery and the concept! It only needs refinement to push into greatness. Well done, all!
As soon as they reveal the date is "tomorrow's," the time travel aspect becomes clear, though I didn't see the twist coming -- that the killer would be the homeowner's older self. That was novel and opens up a variety of potential motivations and psychological threads to pull and play with. The film is very well shot, with great use of lighting -- dim but not obviously so -- to set the mood and amp up tension.
The story is terrific, though the writing has some holes that could use a little work. We're talking more of a tweak here than an outright overhaul. For example, a lot had to go right for the two hikers -- and only those hikers -- to find the killer in the woods. And it was only because, by chance, that one of them took a photo near where he lay and then noticed him -- barely -- while flipping through his photos later that night. And the killer had to rely on the hikers going to his younger self's home straightaway instead of to the police, which would be the more logical and likely option. One could argue that, well, he knew how it would all play out because he's from the future, etc., etc., but ... really? I know it was written that way to drive the story and add suspense but it was still a bit much.
I'm not sure we needed the question -- quickly answered though it was -- of what the numbers meant, either. Of course they were dates. Sure, the hikers quickly reveal that "they must be dates," but the preceding line, "They're all labeled with different sets of numbers" felt contrived -- more a way to add an element of mystery than anything else. It's a little thing but there are a few of those unwieldy details in the film. The acting wasn't bad, but the performances were stilted and uneven at times, and moments of heightened emotion did not feel all that authentic.
All that said, I did enjoy the film and think it has potential as a larger project in the psychological thriller genre. 3.8/5.
cool🗿
If they’d said something like this instead: “We thought that these numbers were dates… but that would make this one a tape from today…” that might’ve worked better :)
@@Emmaloveshorror Exactly. Something like that would work much better -- a small change that makes the scene more authentic.
Great acting and genuine shocks - well done guys you pulled off a masterpiece in less than 10 minutes. Awesome!
Very clever! Very nifty twist, as a horror fan I assumed I knew how it would end- I admire your camera work too. Namaste from Canada
Brilliant! Outstanding!! Bravo!!! & thankyou ❤❤❤ this 👏
As if 2 young guys couldn’t have taken him
Well apparently they didn't?
Both of them.
There was 3 young guys not 2 😂😂
Maybe he knew Kung-fu
My thoughts exactly lol.
Now that's some original stuff right there. And the lighting and cinematography were superb.
I love films that don't make sense. It makes writing them so much easier.
😅😅
Lol ya I know, it’s a time travel kind, where the bathrobe man and the old guy with the camera are actually the same person, just travelling through time
😂😂
Lots of awards for this one...i'm fond of any horror film in the forest & this one did not disappoint.
same here
This short was so great ...scary and creative....would give major motion pictures a run for their money 👍✌️
Dude that was freaking scary my heart is racing. Kudos!!!
Felt like a multiverse/ alternate time-line.. loved it
Wowww back to back chills at the end; good job!!!
that was so awesome, 9 minutes and it's better than most movie I've seen in the last 3 years
Well done! Taut, effective, and surprising.
Amazing. Dunno how you packed that much story into 9 minutes. Super impressive.
Agree
This was a WOW...... Creeped me out so much! Deserves many many many more likes!
AWESOME I loved it!! The ending... phenomenal. It was perfect....what a plot twist. Should be made into a 2hr movie. Keep 'em coming. They are terrific!!
TIME TRAVELING PSYCHOPATH???
ending was weak
Never a long version! The intensity will be lost..this was perfect,PERFECT!
Thank you!❤
How was it a plot twist?
This was amazing! It would fit nicely on the channel, Alter 🖤 Great twist at the end!
Freekin scary ! But brilliant !!! From beginning to end... No flaws. Short but super efficient !👍
Very cool twist on the "found footage" genre. And I loved the music.
Perfect. Would love to see it as a Full length Movie!❤
Awesome. I'm always wary of CZcams videos that have "award winning" in the title. I've seen so many that were far from it. But, this definitely warrants awards. Great concept and execution.
Excellent plot, great OST/Music, the shots and the direction of the camera were really really good, the blood though looked a little off but aside from that this is one of the best short films I've ever seen, the story line is very clever.
Wait... what... whaaaat??
Whoah. Amazing job, idea and cinematography. Well done!
Excellent. Stunning picture too
This was an incredible film. This would make such a great feature. The acting was good, plot, the characters. Really great setup. Awesome awesome film.
Wow! This film is going to blow up at some point. It's awesome. More people just need to see it.
No one needs to see it. It is nonsensical dogshit, and it will never "blow up" beyond a few thousand people sleeping through it.
Absolutely love this film!!!!!!!👍🏼👍🏼
VERY well made! The twist at the end was awesome!
Dude really Good. Just Fun to watch this.
Holy crap that was amazing. Super creepy! Wish it was a full movie!
Wicked-Cool storyline!
Great movie Karl Kimmel. i had no idea that was going to happen. brilliant
been watching a marathon of shorts lately, this one so far, is not as acting but as whole the best one, simple and amazing. well done.
Really cool, the idea itself give me chills which is somehow better than most horrors
Good job guys! It was thrilling!❤
Shocking and really scary. The actors were all great.
This was so good that I forgot I was watching a CZcams short film. Both me and my daughter were impressed and we wanted more!!! I would pay to watch this in theaters!! Great job guys!! I'm a fan!! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽
You are hilarious!
@@Tyler-wp9gk Really? How so?
@@TheManyLayersOfJaz because this film was terrible!
@@Tyler-wp9gk well 2.1k people disagree, as well as the 9 people who liked this comment. You dont have to like it, that's fine. However, there are several of us who actually did enjoy it.
@@TheManyLayersOfJaz I k ow. There are so many people with terrible taste in things
The title "What We Found Out There" reminds me of the skit from Saturday Night years ago where the punchline was "You put your weed in there"
❤ One of the best!
Damn! This is better than writers in Hollywood could ever conceive
Everything was stellar except the line "... I had to make sure... to see the end at the beginning. Just like he did. That I would understand." This dialogue is a contrivance, a purposefully vague antipode in an attempt to give narrative complexity by way of obscure, contradictory language. It doesn't leave the audience with coded nuggets to be contemplated. Instead, it leaves us wishing that character either spoke with clarity or emoted as if he had an epiphany about the killer's directions.
This is a perfect example of why you should leave dead people that you find in the forest alone.
LOL!!
Spectacular work! Keep it up!
Wow, amazing! Loved this. 😍
its well made and acted twisted serial time traveler tale is unique the 4 actors are good but the 2 leads stood out they made the roles fit beautiful set well done
Good premise. Not usually crazy about this genre, but y'all did a great job with it. Esp. like the soundtrack.
excellant .. and the S1 did a fantastic job
This is a great idea! Totally enjoyed it (although there’s something not perfectly clear in his power to time travel, but the atmosphere was so creepy!)
Now this was really creative. Thank you for sharing.
Great tension, love the 2 dudes could take this old timer out, comment, completely went over this persons mind, yeah one of em should have, roundhouse kicked time travelling death as the other done some WWF on his old ass, hilarious, good film ,well done!from uk x
Well-made. Bravo
This needs to be made into a full length film! That was unnerving!
Naah... long movies are mostly boring, extended with useless conversations and sex scenes. This film is good the way it is.
Always listen to the reluctant guy!
Amazing twist..great job 👍
Yes. Excellent.
Brilliant ...horror shorts are the way to go now... ...all these great short movies all over CZcams and 99.9% of them are far better than any big budget movie that comes out of hollyweird nowadays ...its just the crap regurgitated over and over ...well done guys scary and original 👍
I think I would pay to see this in a movie. Great story
That scared the hell out of me! I love it! More please!
Can u plz explain me the ending ? What was it ?
Brilliant. Bravo!
Broooooooooooo….. this should be a full length movie, or even better a series! Big hugs from COSTA RICA 🇨🇷
Oooo! Loved this one!
Weird and wild. Great piece!
Great job, Karl!👍😁
So why the serial killer pretended to dead for two days? How he killed these guys and filmed the victims in the future? Why he's storing the tapes..many questions unanswered.
I took it that the older guy was the timid guy's future self. He really died, but had the tape of past self's murder of these friends.
That's for spoilers in the first sentence of the first comment 😅
@@danielskimagix right? so annoying
Not bad !! I would like to see more of this story !! Thanks.
Well done!
That was great ! 🧡🙏
That’s getn it in w/ 9minutes yo!!!
Well done
Creepy
That was wicked!
Loved it, the ending was a surprise.
No wonder why this film is award winning, story is interesting and not fully clear, also great cinematic work and actor play,it's pretty cool short thriller
loooooove!!!!!
Great short!
Iwasthisclose to figuring it out: it was the shirt.
Nice...great atmosphere, tension just kept building.
Great job, everyone.
This beats Alter. I hope this channel really grows!!
Well done; innovative premise and well-paced. Congratulations on the awards, well-earned.
: That was pretty cool. Very way, man. 🤘
I'm trying to remember the last time I saw a short that *wasn't* allegedly 'award winning'. Maybe if your Mum comes into your studio and says it's the best short she's ever seen and she's so proud of you, that counts as an award, lol. Oh, and by the way, I'm casting no aspersions regarding this particular short, just making an observation because it included the usual 'award winning' epithet in its title!
it seems to me that all short films are award winners these days.
😂😂😂😂😂
That's an Award Winning Comment if I ever read one!
If they weren’t award winning, would they have reached you?
@variousmentalproblems
Yup.
When I first started watching these sci-fi shorts (or any shorts, really) loads of them apparently *hadn't* won any awards, lol. Now, it seems that nearly every single short seems to have won some kind of award.
I guess the judging panels have been busy! 😆
It's 3 guys vs 1 serial killer. I'm sure they'll be fine 👍
👀 WOW! This was absolutely terrifying 😱 that ending I didn't expect and it made me feel all kinds of CREEPY 😬 but I'm happy to see Justin Timberlake is STILL working gigs.
it wasn't terrifying at all. it is confusing.
Literally no one in this looked like Justin Timberlake.
@@in_the_pines , the lake behind the house was named Justin Timberlake.
@@in_the_pines Your mom looked like Justin Timberlake.
Good storyline, cast of characters and timing
Very well done.
you had me at glissando cello
That was perfect. Concise.
Hopefully this one will avoid all the comments like: "I'd like to see this made into a feature-length film."
Awesome!
