DIY M-Sport Steering Wheel Wrap // Any Model

- čas přidán 5. 07. 2024
- Today on JD Cars I'll finally be upgrading the boring stock steering wheel on my BMW E90. I was interested in purchasing a sport steering wheel, but I could not justify spending several hundred dollars on one. This is an excellent budget friendly alternative. In fact you could argue it is better than an m-sport steering wheel as it has the custom stitching and red racing stripe. Thank you very much to MeWant steering wheel covers for sending me their product for an installation video! Please like and subscribe if you have yet to do so!

You my sir are the most patient person I’ve ever seen
Hahahaha not usually! But thank you
AGREED A RARE GUY PERIOD....
AGREED...I COULDN'T DO IT MYSELF....GREAT JOB.
yeah i would have thrown that thing away way before actually finishing it. But nice job. looks great.
Tbh there's 3 kind of patience :
- being able to wait doing nothing (ie waiting in line and shit like that)
- being able to remain calm while doing something that doesn't work out as it's supposed to
- being able to stay calm doing an activity that takes a lot of time but works as it's supposed to.
This is truly not as easy as you’re making it seem although at the end you confess it took you 6hrs which is on par with my experience. By far one of the more tedious customizations I’ve done on a friends car and now mine. Requires a ton of patience and bleeding hands! Lol
I'd be more worried about the startup sound than the wheel
Just sounds like he has some air in the power steering Easy fix. Also could be a cold start. N52/N54s are pretty noisy when they are cold.
I hear the Lifters common problem from what I read sounds like a diesel when running guess it's really not an issue but if didnt sound good when he turned the wheel never heard that before.
Steven Saunders sounds like it’s just air in the power steering system. Had that problem before. Doesn’t sound like lifters to me.
@@matt.108 Cold Start your talking about it just being cold ? Or it has cold start? Cause if it has cold start it should sound quiet likes it's been running for awhile. Yea could be air power sterring. Either way dont think it's nothing to be to concerned about!
Steven Saunders pretty sure it’s just air in the power steering. I had that problem last year and just topped off the fluid and turned the wheel a few times. Went away. Sounded exactly like his car. Lifters would be a really loud tick. That was more of a grinding buzzing noise you would get from a pump trying to move air bubbles.
Just did mine a day ago! Took me 5 hours with the steering wheel off but it looks great!
Awesome!
OMG 😮 You have the patience of a saint doing this 👍🏻
Hahaha
Your steering wheel looks amazing Jake! The leather and M colour trim gives an extremely sexy look. Loved the video as always, gave us all the information we needed and a thorough guide. Thank you, couldn't be better!
Thanks for the feedback!
Do you have for Renault clio campus year 2009
You are talented at filming and sewing. Before watching your video, I would never have dreamed of doing this. Now, I just might. Wow does that look wonderful.
Thank you Jonathan! Glad I inspired you!
New subscriber and I've been on a marathon with your channel. Your videos are the best! My Mewant is on it's way for my '07 335i and I can't wait. Keep these coming!
Glad you enjoy the videos!
Great vid. Thanks for the tips. Will definitely save for reference when I do my wheel.
what a legend, thats dedication and it looks stunning, great video and pace
Many thanks! Glad you enjoyed
The best walk through wheel cover video I have seen on this subject. Now where's the video on covering my beemers wooden bits in carbon fibre wrap.?
I've made a video on that too
I purchased this wheel cover for my e82 135i and it looks awesome! It just takes patience to install it correctly 👍🏼
Yes it does! But well worth it!
THIRD TIME WATCHING YOU ARE A RARE PERSON I COULD NEVER DO THIS YOU HAVE PATIENTS AND TALENT
Hahaha thank you, but I'm sure you can do it!
Just finished my m sport wheel. Thanks!
Looks sick JD... another awesome upgrade bro...
Thanks man!
Bro...I’ve just decided the other day that I wanted to just keep my car instead of buying another bmw and just do mods to it...this is something I’m gonna definitely do to it. Thanks bro!!
Yeah man! Just mod it out!
Awesome video bro straight to the point thanks
Cheers for the Vid, great help as i'm doing my z4. Nice job too.

I COULD NEVER DO THAT PERIOD GREAT TALENT JD.
Thanks Eric!
Sick videos bro. I stumbled upon your channel watching Tjhunt and man am I happy I did. Inspiring me to start my own channel soon. Earned my subscription.
Thanks Joshua! I appreciate it man!
i have the same leather from aliexpress (26$) but with black stitching and the sport steering wheel, it looks and feels awesome, i did it a year ago, and still looks brand new. if you want i can send you some pictures
That sounds awesome! Well worth the time to install it!
Bogdan Anghel how looks opposite side of the steering? All OK?
Can you show me please
Can you send us a link
this video was dope, loved the ending 💯
Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed
Doing my 335 this weekend, thanks for the upload!
Sweet man! Glad to help!
JD Cars Got it done Sunday, and the outcome is truly amazing, took a good 3 hours, but we'll worth it!
I just ordered one of these yesterday and your video popped up on my feed today so it was an interesting watch. You made a great job of it. I was concerned how well it would fit around the spokes so I’m quite relieved it looks good. I’m starting with an M Sport wheel so hopefully it will feel even thicker at the end.
I hope it goes well!
How did it go?
thanks man! looks amazing!
Thank you!
Excellent video! Thank you for putting your time into it and posting. I am going to install one and the video was really helpful, It saved from making needless mistakes. :)
Great job!!! Looks good.
Thank you!
Good video. Better than the manufacturer's video. I am going to get this for my 2006 Honda S2000 and give it a try.
AMAZING🔝 RESPECT✊🏻
Your videos are lit & I like your song selection lmao. 👍👍👍
Thanks man! Glad you like it!
Nicely done. Most of the others I’ve seen so far don’t use much if any tape. I can see benefits either way, but the test is how it holds up after a year or two.
I did this on my WRX and didn’t use much tape. I bought this again for my BMW and will definitely follow his actions. You were able to rotate the wrap fairly easy without the tape.
Great job explaining!
Thank you!
Awesome !Thanks so much, bro😊 glad you like our steering cover and you did good job and your stitching is pretty beautiful! Any problems,do not hesitate to contact us,we are here to help!
Thank you again for sending me your product!
Ouyue MEWANT i want to buy this cover i have the same but is a 330i 2006 and the steering looks different how i can buy you the one for my car?
Thanks for support, friend, you can find us by search ''MEWANT" on either Amazon,Aliexpress,eBay,lazada,Dhgate,we have shops on all these online store. Or meet us at Facebook or Instagram by searching ''Mewant''. If you can't find the steering wheel cover you are looking for, please feel freely to contact us directly via shops or social tools, thanks again.
Ouyue MEWANT will this fit in my 2015 328i with the basic steering wheel?
i was feeling pretty good about this until "6 hours later". ugh, what have i gotten myself into
So bad ? Do you still have it on your steering wheel or have you removed it again?
I wish there was a made in the USA product that does this. Quick question: Is the feel of the steering wheel significantly fatter after installed? Or is it still a comfortable diameter?
Great job!
Really good videos m8! Helping me a lot, doing almost the same things with my e90 as you ✌🏼
Great to hear! I'm glad the videos are of help!!
@@JDCarsChannel The video is now 3 years old. How does the cover feel today?
Really nice!
It looks great!
Thanks!
Love my BMW crew
amazing work
Thanks!
Wow that's a lot of work! Looks great though congrats 👍
Thanks!!
Me gusta la calidad de la funda, saben si es posible conseguirla en Mexico?
Looks Great!!
Thank you!
I would like to see the back of the wheel after the installation, because in my car the original leather looks like an uninterrupted single part.
Y quien coño mira la parte de atrás de un volante desde el exterior como para ver el acabado de una funda? Con que quede bien pegado es suficiente
What brand is the HUD
Very informative. Not easy to find an oem fit aftermarket steering wheel cover. Thanks.
Glad to help!
Good idea... Only better if a couple of shift paddles came in that kit.
Almost forgot there are 2 torx screws on each side of wheel in the back at 3 O'clock and 9 O'clock take those out it will loosened those controls to help tuck!! Your Welcome
Link to the instrumental @7:52 ? I found the full song (Miles Ali- Rite Now) but the instrumental by itself is smooth. Thanks.
Dj Quads - The Improv
that really awesome video. thank you
Glad you liked it!
Awesome job
Thank you!
Wow nearly 6hrs? crazy
Nice sir, this will look nice in my E87 130i. What angel eyes lights do you use???
Spec-D headlights
Nicely done
Thanks!
That's a job well done. Plenty patience as well...
Thanks! Much more patience than I usually have!
Hi thanks for your video, you did a good job !!
Did you buy from MEWANT the Genuine leather or the artificial leather ? I want to do it on my steering wheel which is used and damaged, do you think I should clean it first with a sand paper ? can we see the damaged leather through the MEWANT steering wheel cover ?
Thanks for your answer.
I believe this is artificial. I did not find it necessary to sand first. You cannot see through after stitching on the cover.
Thank You VERY Much for making this video. Were you ready to scream at the end? LOL
i bought this but the suede version for the exact same car and it feels good but its not made of real leather, i guess im gonna have to send it to a place to make an exact copy but with real leather since i couldn't find a place where they sell these with real suede, aside from that this is a really good video and it helped me a lot with mine
Any that fits m3 e92?
I have been looking for a quality steering wheel cover for years. I hate the UNI Fit covers that is commonly sold. I have used similar products like this in the late 70's but I have not seen the quality covers as is from MEWANT until now. Thank you for the Video. It reminds me of the one that I put on my 66 Mustang, back in the day.
Glad you enjoyed the video! I would highly recommend the MeWant cover.
I bought one for mine direct from MeWant for about 25.00. Ebay is selling them for 122.00.. I think I messed up and got the dark Blue Threading but the Threading on the cover is blue also. But I will go to a Fabric store and get some Red if I need to. Again Thanks for the info. It was very valuable information.
Glad to help! Good luck!
Does this same wrap kit work for E92 328i coupe ? Thank you looks great!
Yes, it should!
Very beautiful bmw :) where did you get the angel eyes from? I'm trying to get one for my E90 320i 2005 model. Best wishes!
The angel eyes are now discontinued, but check out the VIPmotoz headlights.
@jdcars i have a 07 bmw and i was looking at the steering wheel covers i dont see one with the bulges on the steering wheel with the red stripe. i have looked everywhere the only one with bulges that i found was the suede steering wheel and my steering wheel is a sport model
Hmmm they may not have a cover for the sport model.
Good Job
Do they offer this for the e46 I'd like it for my zhp, and also what songs were u using? I liked that lalalala one lol
Yup! They offer this for the e46!
Disarming and removing the airbag would make this so much easier Have done a couple of A3s and a Golf
I would like yellow on my e92 looks pretty nice tbh I would stare at the wheel for hours
Contact @controlcustomsuk for a proper steering wheel re trim
And the airbags?
bro, the Amazon link is wrong in descripton. it's for a different type of steering wheels.
Is the sport wheel stitching only for an m sport wheel or a sport package wheel too ?
Great video! How does the wrap do in the long run? Did it wear to the point where you decided to take it off?
It lasted for quite a while with minimal wear. I never had to replace it
6 hours?!!! Geesh is definitely not ready to install mines lol
Great job, I have the same on order now, but 1 question, I have the same steering wheel and was wondering if you've tried removing the trim round the steering wheel controls for wrapping ? I've looked but can't see how. I wanna wrap the trim after the cover goes on to finish it off. Keep up the channel bud 👍👍
I attempted to remove them, but they are fragile and did not want to damage them. Thanks for the support!
My only criticism about this video, maybe add a little tune to the intro video bit? I thought my audio had stopped working haha, otherwise top vid dude! :D
"Nearly 6 hours later we're done."
You sir are a very patient person
Hahahah
6 hours is a bit much, nice result tho… buth I did it in 3 hours. Buth I was not filming my self and such
Great 👍🏾 How About A BMWE64 Cover?!
Looks sick man, do you know if there will be any issues if you have a heated steering wheel?
If you have a heated steering wheel it may make it feel slightly weaker...but I think it will still work.
What is the name / brand of vinyl wrap you have on the panels .. looks pretty dope!
Thanks! It’s vivvid vinyl
hola amigo, para quitar los botones del timon es necesario quitar la bolsa de aire? tengo el mismo timon
This is actually a great instructional video, but for anyone wanting to do this, please just take your steering wheel off! All you have to do is discconnet the battery, remove the airbag and whip the wheel off by removing the 16mm centre bolt. It's soooo much better being able to move the wheel around wherever you want when you're stitching, and obviously means you can just do it in your house rather than being sat in the car - makes it actually quite a nice process!
Good tip!
Mewant please do you have a cover for steering wheel for a Renault clio campus, year 2009.
Excellent video! How has this held up over the last two years?
Thanks! It held up phenomenally well!
Looks great. Was there just not enough material to finish wrapping around the bottom of the steering wheel. I just noticed on the bottom oeft side under the airbag it didnt look complete. Sick otherwise tho. Nice mod
Thanks man! There was enough material... I just didn't get it to fit 100% perfectly.
Hi man! Love it, might do it on my e46! Thanks, also was wondering the song at 7:53 ? Its awesome
The Improv - by DJ Quads. Thanks for the support!
Great video; I would take the buttons and airbag off first.
8:29 The leather at the 6 o'clock spoke looks weird.
it would look better with a little adhesive lie flat on the wheel and maybe a few extra stitches and it won't be so noticeable. This looks like something that cannot be avoided with any stitch on cover but there are ways to make it look less noticeable.
That’s why he left that part out of the frame
Hey man I know you sold the car awhile ago but I’m thinking about doing this to my m sport steering wheel, but I prefer a thinner grip wheel (like from factory) does this add too much thickness to the wheel you think?
It adds a nice amount of thickness to the wheel
Do Not Forget This is Really "Fun" if you Love your CAR !.. and a Great Up-Grade Value too !.. Love it,,,,
Thanks man!!
hows the steering wheel heater with that on?
Small question, i just got mine delivered last week and I also have the M color stitching. However the lightblue and red are already on the cover. But i received red and blue thread to stitch with, just like you. Was the one blue thread for the entire cover? Or did you also use a red one in the middle somewhere?
Awesome video btw, keep it up!
I used blue thread the entire time. Thanks for watching!
What is the song at 7:52? Thanks
looks sick :)
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Do you think that you could peel the original leather off and then wrap it Bc my wheels an m sport wheel and it’s pretty thick already so I’d be nice to know what you think
I bet that is possible... I'm just not sure about the fitment because it's a different steering wheel.
Id like to know what happens when the car is in the sun the entire day at 40°C +. Will the tabe get loose?
Nice work, noticed the lower section was out frame in reveal. How was fitment in lower area?
Thanks! It was good from what I recall
@@JDCarsChannel right on I fully plan on doing this mod this month
Did that wheel cover hold up?
Wow amazing
Thanks!
