  • Today I show you how to transform your steering wheel at home, with a custom alcantera, suede, leather or vinyl wrap. This project was done using an East Detailing Steering Wheel Wrap, and will make it so you need NO previous upholstery or wheel wrap experience.
I got my wrap at www.eastdetailing.com/

Note, their ship times are not extremely fast since these are custom covers made to order. Fitment, at least for the Miata wheel cover, was near perfect!
Steering wheel covers like this one from East Detailing are great, because they do the most difficult upholstery work. They send you a custom made wrap, with your choice of colors and materials, and you just need to stitch it up. This is MUCH easier than starting from scratch to make a custom cover!

It's a lot easier than you think. This guy did the most complex way possible lmao. Check some other videos out. I just did my Chevy Silverado and I did it in an afternoon over the weekend. You definitely don't need to dismount the steering wheel.

No, Don’t remove the old leather! I did it on my first wheel and the cover was loose. I had to find another wheel because east takes the thickness of the original leather into account when the make the cover.

Ive noticed every single East Detailing demo is always on a simple wheel without any leather wings. These covers look nice, but the one I got for my Type-R is cut too loose, the thread gets so twisted after a few passes the thread knots up. I regret buying from them, and it really sucks because theyre expensive.
