That one guy is my favorite. Don't act like you don't know who I'm talking about.
I looked for him in the more recent vids and sadly...he was absent. The campiness is gone. :'(
It took me less than ten seconds to find exactly who you were talking about
The wink slayed me!
The contest was won in the first minute.
The contest was won before their ballad was even over... this opening just secured it. 😊😎
That chord at 0:52-0:58 is so frigging solid you could build a house on it. Goosebumps every time I hear that intro. Every time I watch this entire performance, I shake my head and guffaw out an expletive when it finishes. Unbelievable.
guibox3 I do the same thing. Locked up tighter than a cats ass in heat
This makes me think what Carolina Crown from Drum Corps International would sound like if they were doing this instead. Holy held chord! Amazing!
I make that comparison too. I tell my instrumentalist 'shopper friends that Barbershop chorus is the equivalent of vocal DCI
@@KyleHottel yep
Their passion is ELECTRIC, this is so awesome! :D.
***** I think it's a Mardi Gras medley? I might be wrong, though.
I like the guy who does the first flip at 0:20 the best haha. He's so expressive for the entire thing
It's been nearly two years since I last saw this! WOW! This makes me feel so happy!
What does it mean?
I never get tired of this.
Some of the best moments of my musical life were spent on the stage with these fantastic singers. I'm grateful to have the wonderful style of Barbershop as a part of my life.
I've commented on this like 3 times the last 2 years and I have to comment again. Still one of the best performances I've seen and my favorite. The intro is enough to blow your mind, never mind the rest. Awesome, awesome, awesome!
That chord change from :49-:53 is insanity. I just burst out laughing when I saw that, from the sheer joy of it - especially after all the changes leading into it.
The whole thing, just insanely good. But that moment totally floored me.
These guys are off scale...the future of barbershop choir singing is in good hands.
This chorus is WORLD CLASS all the WAY!! Congratulations again Guys!! It was amazing to see this live, and the ballad was also artistry at it's finest!!!
They are so happy, it's wonderful! :D.
@0:32 That sustained chord they hold for forever, which turns into about 4 chords, gave me HUGE chills - and the choreography with it looks so cool. AMAZING job!
Joindre l'exercice phonique à l'exercice physique, l'expression vocale et l'expression corporelle, c'est l'exploit que réalise cette chorale d'hommes
Excellent exercice pour griller quelques calories après les fêtes...
I'm sure there are Angels in heaven who sings like that
Agh, I can't even deal. This is superb, magnificent, mind blowing, and even eargasmic (lol what?)... I've gotten chills multiple times. If I was there in the front row I would've fainted.
One of the finest performances ever...fabulous...what a sound! Relentless!
I've have been a member in S. P. E. B. S. Q. S. A. before. This is a remarkably young chorus. Most of the Barbershop members now are like 70. I'm 44, but I'm a young 44. I wish I had a chorus like this to sing with
My god that was one of the best things I've ever seen and heard!
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this video. I just cannot wipe the silly, crap-eating grin off my face or stop getting chills and goosebumps from 0:38- 1:08. I am teaching 4 choirs this year in my school and I guarantee this is going to be at the top of my list to show them about sound and performance.
To edwards21416 You can bet there are guys in this chorus who were public school boys. The Barbershop Harmony Society it loaded with boys and men from every walk of life. There isn't a chorus in the society who wouldn't welcome a young singer from any school with open arms. What you're seeing here is the cream of the cream of the crop. These guys got here by virtue of ability and above all hard work and dedication. But anyone who loves singing and performing can find a place in the society.
@Esandcircle01 No kidding. I giggle every time I watch from 0:50-0:53. Nowhere will you hear or see cooler dynamics simultaneously than in barbershop choruses.
2:44 - 2:52 That bass solo gives me chills everrtime
@RonRizzy I hear you. Nothing would make me happier than to see more young blood in the Society.
Watch it regularly and it never gets old!
You know you're good when you can put the tag at the beginning of the song.
OH MY GAWD THE CHORDS IN THE INTRO HOLY CRAP.That augmented 6 chord at 4:11 is GOLD (i believe its an It+6)
***** It's just a 7th chord with a weird voicing. It's a G7 (in the key of B major) with the bass on the 3rd, baritone on the 7th a tritone above, the lead on the root a step above that, and the tenor on the 5th a 5th above the lead.
.....that's an augmented 6 chord. Ger+6 to be specific. The only difference between It+6 chord and Ger+6 is one note. Ger+6 in the key of B is G7.... It+6 in the key of B is G7 without the 5th (D). So yeah. Still an Augmented 6.
***** If it helps, the chord is written B, E#, G, D in the key of B. Then it just resolves to a B chord with the Baritones jumping up to the B octave and the leads sliding down a half note. That's what it is in the sheet music, I don't know enough about theory to say what that is. I just know it was one of my favorite chords to sing!
G7. Then its a German +6 chord in B
This is easily my favorite chorus performance ever.
Absolutely LOVED this!
Fun fact. While this didn’t outscore in performance. This actually got more points than ambassadors of Harmonys 76 trombones
That chord change at :53 is really awesome, and the choreography really brings it out.
I just keep watching this. WOW!
So many shivers every time I watch this :). Wish I could hear them live!
the post...good god the post, it was BEAUTIFUL!!
A man named Aaron Dale. The man is blessed with talent.
and then came the chills...
Seriously just blew my mind.
hells yea; i know most of these guys don't come from Westminster; but to know they represent my city; just crazy to think about.........
Vive le Mardi Gras!!!! And long live the Westminster Chorus, 2-time International Chorus Champions!!!! Superbe!
WOW. Simply amazing. So together, such a clean sound. And as cool as the long intro was, those last three chords show you at your best - the sound just explodes!
I love Patrick Haedtler's energy. Honestly so great like the whole chorus!
I really love this kind of music!!
Great Actions..... Super Sound...... Wonderful Chorus
Your the tops!
Fantastic discipline and hellishly good breath control all round.
Guys....just amazing. When working on choreography....our coaches always used to say, "if I close my eyes....I want it to sound like you aren't doing choreography." Well, you pulled it off. Amazingly brilliant. Look forward to more of that in the future.
the countertenor section knocked my socks off
Man are they good!!!!
The final stomp was in perfect sync. Just one massive BOOM!
amazing!!!! Congratulations from Brazil !!!
wow. just....wow.
MERAVIGLIOSI!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely Amazing....
FINALLY!!!!!
I love my brothers in the chorus.
damn! what a solid smooth sound as a fellow competitor i can relate to all the long hours and work that goes into this art form. WELL DONE WESTMINSTER
EVERY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEAUTIFUL!
Yes! Look at us go!
WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! I LOST MY WORDS!!! GOD! HELP!!!!
Flat out amazing...love this!
@BlackLotus1786 The Westminster chorus performed "Lux Arumque" which has extremely difficult harmonies that most choirs cannot achieve, and that really keeps them on their toes musically.
@TRPDDB hang on there. they weren't all "old" songs then, and songs had a longer shelf life than now, if only because it took longer for them to become as widely known. the concept is 4-part close harmony, unit sound, and arrangements (on paper or spontaneous, ie: woodshedding), with some chords that ring - you can try applying it to songs old and new. I'm trying to get some woodshedding going during the Quartets segment of our Tuesday night chorus rehearsals. Woodshedding is way cool.
bravo bravo encore encore
brilliant
amazingly inspiring and near perfect. Stunning performance guys! Keep up the good work!
well it's about time!
fantastic!!!!!
@Protomagi Again, there are different schools of thought on the subject, but my professors teach that someone with a practiced falsetto is called male alto or soprano, or a "falsettist", and countertenors are the men with vocal abnormalities.
3:57 is the best tag i’ve ever listened to by a lot
Brothers don't shake hands. Brothers gotta hug!
This is AMAZING! I am really blown away!
Zayumm thanks for showing us this Shelly
3:05 I got here because I was looking for “a campy dude that made ridiculous facial expressions” and what I didn’t come here for is a cheeky wink
that choreo modulation omg I wish it sounded like that when I did the wave
What an amazing intro! Wow!
it is like a fountain!
Dat flawless stomp...wow.
Love it!
@egraber61 Type in, Westminster Chorus It Only Takes A Moment. You'll find they do "stand and deliver" quite well.
Well done men.
How does this only have only a quarter million views?
Who's the guy with the spikey blonde hair in the front row who consistently makes the most hilarious gestures ever?
Great
@Icyveins906 note that Toronto Northern Lights have repeatedly medalled, yet have one of the smallest choruses around.
this is amazing!!!
goose bumps!
@piercewise1 yes I definitely like that one :), also their great day video is one of my favourites.
@licencedtospill Because It's AWESOME!!!!
Yep, he's directing both Westminster and Masters of Harmony
You know they did above par when you're sitting in front of your desktop/laptop clapping for them like a mad man at the end.
How you gonna put a tag at the beginning of your song
thanks!
gosh. i'd so love to get a copy of the score...
nice haha very wonderful harmony..
Fantástico!!!
espectacular.
As coisas que a minha filha descobre
Bom gosto!
Relojoaria...britânica
Super Good...
Welp. Gotta change my pants. 'Scuse me for a sec.
I'm in one of those now
@edwards21416 I don't have the hard numbers, but seeing as I went to public school and sing in Westminster I can attest that at least one of us didn't go to private school. In fact, most of us went to public school. That's how we recruited each other...by calling up our friends from high school or college, etc...
