I do quite like how this season gives us a reason for why we never saw Victor on the main line as he is revealed to be a narrow gauge engine which I was actually quite surprised when I found that out considering the engine he's based on is actually a standard gauge engine and yes I do know the reason he was made narrow gauge in the series was so they can have his model interact with smaller spaces in the Steamworks as he is loosely based on the Narrow Gauge Engines that were used to transport parts on flat beds around the massive Warehouse facilities at railway repair workshops like Crewe
Two Crewe Works Railway engines are preserved,one (Pet) at the National Railway Museum and the other (D563) is preserved at the Steeple Grange Light Railway,just wanted to bring that up
17:09 Dear god James, this is my absolute most hated episode of the entire series. Everything about it is just awful. But the final nail in the coffin of me having any chance of even mildly liking this episode, was the fireworks scene. I am TERRIFIED of fireworks. And the scene started without warning, and without the fireworks even having any ignition source. And 8 year old me ran out of my living room screaming the first time I watched it. Sodor Surprise Day is an absolute travesty of an episode.
Also I quite like how they made Stafford the first official electric engine in the series which is pretty fitting considering his basis was one of the first electric locomotives built

I said Douglas because that’s the name of Duncan’s basis engine from the Talyllyn Railway. As I said, the Nitrogen team couldn’t take any photos of the basis like the others, because he was in the workshop getting overhauled. That’s why he was only mentioned but never shown this season. Duncan isn’t getting an overhaul in the episode. He was working, he just wasn’t shown onscreen.
Yes but without the poor animation that ARC Productions started out with. It got better as time went on but I've seen a lot of Nitrogen animation [even if the era was a hazardous travesty] and that is what I am used to.

They probably would, had Wilkinson and Brenner considered them over the Arlesdale Engines (the Smallies were probably chosen because they were easier to model).
For 'Bust My Buffers" you can blame the animators because Miller wrote Derick( from season 5) into the script ( written in his original name) and mistook it for Paxton.

If the miracle of CFR happened, I wonder if the gauge would be the same as the SkR plus the rack rail? The models' ratio between gauges is quite a bit more compared to CGI. The models had no dual-gauge parts, and their first narrow-gauger in CGI was a Cuban, whose gauge would probably be wider than that of the Talyllyn's. If Toby wasn't depicted so wimpy, I'd be intrigued as to how a SkR episode with him could go. I feel BMM works nicely as a finale, though few (notably Happy B-day) would go after. I'd think a steamer's buffer beam repaired at the Dieselworks isn't that impractical - Diesel's look pretty similar to theirs; if it was a boiler, then maybe people would start questioning it. (referring to the start of Snowman) not to mention at the bottom of a steep hill in winter with potentially icy tracks. I still remember your riff of Surprise Day. I liked it. I won't hold against you for preferring Nitrogen over Hit, and I'm intrigued to see how they'll compared to BWBA. But before that mess happens, long welcome the Brennaissance!

I absolutely despise the lack of rolling stock dismemberment in CGI. Yeah I understand that rolling stock with faces in CGI breaking to pieces would be a bit disturbing for some people, but why not shred a faceless brake van here and there? Too bad all trains are not made of whatever that brake van Henry crashed into on the bridge is made of.
You got through EIGHT SEASONS of atrocious productions so that a lot of us don't have to get through them. I only watched the HIT Era episodes back when I was a dumb toddler. Here’s how I envision it: Godred - red Ernest - blue Wilfred - green Culdee - purple Shane Dooiney - dark blue Lord Harry - indigo Alaric - grey Eric - yellow They would also have yellow lining and Lord Harry would keep his old name, rather than being renamed and Gordred would be sent back to be rebuilt after his accident.

James A Williams pushed through 8-16, and I stopped at the end of 5. Wow I got off topic. Blue Mountain Mystery is probably my favorite special. I get that I haven't seen the rest of the specials, but other than Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure and The Adventure Begins, I don't really see anything topping it.

At 13:06, I think the actual final episode produced by Nitrogen Studios is The Christmas Tree Express but you're close. Happy Birthday Sir! was released in April of 2012 and The Christmas Tree Express was released in September of 2012 [in the US version anyway]. I would say it was "one" of the final episodes Nitrogen Studios produced but not the true final, just saying.
I think that before BWBA was greenlit, there was a plan to bring the Culdee Fell Engines into the show, with their introductory episode probably done similar to the Railway Series. We know for sure they brought in the Miniature Railway Engines from Arlesdale into the show, so, I think there is a possibility they were going to do it.

I think Season 16 is an okay season. My top 5 are: 5. Sodor Surprise Day (PLEASE DON'T KILL ME) 4. Salty's Surprise 3. Bust my Buffers! 2. Thomas and the Rubbish Train 1. While I disagree with the Nitrogen era being better than the Hit era, at least there were elements such as the voices of the characters and "bad" entertainment that made it stand out. I would still rather have mostly boring but better episodes with the actual model sets than having stories where the writing is more unbearable, nonsensical, having poor lighting in the animation and unlikable characters.
I remember seeing other episodes of season 16 like don't bother Victor happy birthday sir the christmas-tree Express flash bang wallop and others that I could think of. I remember seeing Blue Mountain Mystery when I was a kid and I was more interested of the Thomas & Friends TV series again and the Trackmaster Risky Rails Bridge Drop is my very first Trackmaster set ever and I'm still collecting to this day.

Season 16 of Thomas is kind of like Season 8 of Spongebob. Still not great, but definitely showing signs of improving.
And the first half of season 9.
I would love Season 16 even more if Luke made an appearance in an episode.

The Gordon episodes are the real highlight.

If the miracle of CFR happened, I wonder if the gauge would be the same as the SkR plus the rack rail? The models' ratio between gauges is quite a bit more compared to CGI. The models had no dual-gauge parts, and their first narrow-gauger in CGI was a Cuban, whose gauge would probably be wider than that of the Talyllyn's.
If Toby wasn't depicted so wimpy, I'd be intrigued as to how a SkR episode with him could go.
I feel BMM works nicely as a finale, though few (notably Happy B-day) would go after.
I'd think a steamer's buffer beam repaired at the Dieselworks isn't that impractical - Diesel's look pretty similar to theirs; if it was a boiler, then maybe people would start questioning it.

Ernest - blue
Wilfred - green
Culdee - purple
Shane Dooiney - dark blue
Lord Harry - indigo
Alaric - grey

They would also have yellow lining and Lord Harry would keep his old name, rather than being renamed and Gordred would be sent back to be rebuilt after his accident.

James A Williams pushed through 8-16, and I stopped at the end of 5. Wow I got off topic. Blue Mountain Mystery is probably my favorite special. I get that I haven't seen the rest of the specials, but other than Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure and The Adventure Begins, I don't really see anything topping it.

At 13:06, I think the actual final episode produced by Nitrogen Studios is The Christmas Tree Express but you're close. Happy Birthday Sir! was released in April of 2012 and The Christmas Tree Express was released in September of 2012 [in the US version anyway]. I would say it was "one" of the final episodes Nitrogen Studios produced but not the true final, just saying.
I think that before BWBA was greenlit, there was a plan to bring the Culdee Fell Engines into the show, with their introductory episode probably done similar to the Railway Series. We know for sure they brought in the Miniature Railway Engines from Arlesdale into the show, so, I think there is a possibility they were going to do it.
I would LOVE to hear everything that got canned because of BWBA.

Race to the rescue Scumas: seriously Miller first you made Flynn stupid in firey Flynn now you made him a coward
Ol wheezy wobbles Scumas: please stop putting Misty island in the Show
Express coming through Scumas: I know Gordon's line is iconic but can Thomas please not act flanderized in it
Percy and the monster of brendam Scumas: once one of those rare cases where Edward Henry and Toby act like cowards together but there's one massive fatal flaw in this Percy he knows not to make them join him to find the monster of brendam and salty usually is a good character but this took the charm of him as cranky was the monster this whole time and I thought Percy's new friends was bad enough
Ho ho snowman Scumas: if Wilbert awdry saw Henry getting scared of snowmen he's not going to be happy in the era
Flash bang wallop Scumas: boy where do I start with this I absolutely hated this episode Thomas should know not to get in the way of the camera and he just straight up cause Percy and James to crash this is a torture episode for these two and thankfully it wasn't Gordon that gets torture he just wanted to be in the most photos and also why doesn't the photographer noticed Thomas doing that but when he's trying to take a photo of Henry Thomas just straight up blew steam at him and cause him to drop the camera and topham doesn't sent Thomas to his shed for his recklessly and have Edward get the spare and help Percy and James but the big kicker that set me off is that thomas is on the front cover of the book which he shouldn't after what he did this episode is so garbage and awful not even the book Sir Topham hatt holding could save this surprisingly despite my pure hatred for this this is not my worst season 16 episode it may horrible but it's not the worst there is an episode that I absolutely hated I Will not mention it until I get there
Thomas and the garbage train Meh: this manage to break the Scumas streak it's just a mediocre three strikes formula episode

Sodor surprise day Scumas: boy I really hated this episode with a burning passion this and wonky whistle is Thomas at his worst he kept trying to get Gordon to have fun on sodor surprise day which he doesn't want to he makes Rosie and whiff run into there cargo and it's a Gordon torture episode like Thomas in charge but the big kicker is that he cause creaky to drop the fireworks How is the fireworks lit when there isn't any match and he doesn't get sent to his shed instead rewarded with a wash down Which he shouldn't topham should have sent him to his shed and have Edward take over his jobs screw this horrible abysmal episode

Thoughts on the season: might be better than season 14 and 15 but it's a high bad close to low mediocre
While I disagree with the Nitrogen era being better than the Hit era, at least there were elements such as the voices of the characters and "bad" entertainment that made it stand out. I would still rather have mostly boring but better episodes with the actual model sets than having stories where the writing is more unbearable, nonsensical, having poor lighting in the animation and unlikable characters.
