I think it’s interesting how HIT was so committed to the narrow gauge engines during this era. From S9 onwards, they’ve introduced a new part of the railway, a new character and a new piece of lore.
S9 had mighty mac, the transfer yards and Proteus and his legend and the new Gauge 3 Thomas prop
S10 had Freddie, the wharf, Gauge 3 James, the new Sir Handel prop and Freddie’s knowledge of the old lines
S11 had Madge, Gauge 3 Annie and Clarabel (albeit they were used like once) and an entire dvd dedicated to all the narrow gauge episodes that year
S12 had Colin, Mr Percival’s family, Proteus’ statue being rediscovered and the legend of the Man in the Hills
Despite being poorly mischaracterised in this era, HIT really was committed to the narrow gauge railway. Shame Mattel never went as far with them
My guess is that they couldn't continue infantalizing Thomas for forever, and the smaller trains were perhaps thought to be more relatable to the child audience.
I also heard that probably there were plans to conjoin Culdee Fell and Skarloey Railway together, but it kinda duded. It kinda appears, because notice how in a HIT era the SCR sets are more mountainy and rocky. They even went that far to actually include Culdee Fell mountain in Sir Handel's big return episode.
@Dudus366 also I notice they had Culdee in take along and re introduced him in wooden railway around the time. D199 and Culdee really were the main rws exclusives to get merchandise
@@phillipclearman859 which is so dumb
Just a shame they were out of character
24:31 "Let's change this section up and talk about this year's selection of *_new toys_* first."
Perfect description.
Good point
“A toy first and a character second”
That’s exactly what they did with the 80’s Transformers toy line and cartoon
At least they have more character than some of the one off characters in season 5 and even the Railway Series.

You cannot convince me 80s Optimus Prime (generic dad bot) has more character than Optimus Prime in the 2007 movie
@@ARG0T replace 80s Optimus Prime with Thumper and 2007 Optimus Prime with Neville and you have the same result here.

Duncan is truly one of the best characters.
Duncan's Bluff is really underrated
@juanpablo.a we need more standard and narrow gauge interactions including fan stories too. I love how a lot of the narrow gauge were made as counterparts to the standard gauge like Duncan is a hot-headed showoff like James, Sir Handel has such a massive ego it even surprised Gordon and Skarloey is wise like Edward
Even as a kid he was one of my favourite characters in the show
@@iratepirate3896Same! I loved Duncan when I was a kid
@@LegendaryCaptainAnd Peter Sam is small, green, egar and naive like Percy
Even as small child, I didn't like how the engine's would move down sets with nothing behind them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for pointing this out.
This issue is even worse in All Engines Go. In one episode, for example, there’s a busy Knapford Station scene with 14 engines but not a single coach.
It also got on my nerves too
@@nostaldec4705I mean, AEG isn't even trying to be anything remotely realistic though. I'm not saying it's good obviously... but S10 here actually was still at least often trying to emulate realism.
The "light engine" problem definitely stems from the producers treating the show like every other kids show of the time. They started letting the characters just wander around and do whatever, because that's what characters in other kids shows do. In other words, the producers stopped treating the characters like what they are- locomotives on a railway- and started treating them like kids, thus seemingly forgetting one of the biggest unique factors the show had, that being a realistic-ish portrayal of a railway while also being approachable by kids. The changed made with season 7 definitely started this problem, but it really comes into play now.
How did it start with Season 7?
@@ThomasFisher-jr6bn The writing team essentially had new rules to work with that dumbed down the show for younger audiences, and those changes continued to affect the show going forward.
To me, “light engine” should at least have a brake van in case for break down
Maybe it's the train equivalent to taking a stroll?
@@fanofeverything30465 Why would the engines do that? They like being useful, not useless.
Interestingly, there was a learning segment that briefly recalled the events of Edward Strikes Out. However, it changes the story by having Edward feel sympathetic towards Rocky, which is more in line with his character.
Even the people at Hit knew that episode made no sense
I believe said segment (though some research) is “Sodor’s Special Places: Brendam Docks Part 1” and it was produced and aired in the SAME season as the episode it retold. But the “Fun Times with Our Friends: Edward” (Season 11) and “Thomas’ Favorite Friends: Edward” (Season 12) segments recon it.
Another example of HiT prioritizing their pockets and the absolute dumbest toddler in the audience over quality storytelling.
Freddie being a part of the Mid Sodor Railway would be such an interesting story to be explored.
The words Tug would use to describe each season so far are:
S1: Complete
S2: Innovative
S3: BIG
S4: Comfy
S5: Peak
S6: Cute
S7: Eye of the Storm
S8: Milquetoast
S9: Peaks and Valleys
S10: Drawn Out

What about TATMR?
My bet for S12’s description is either “bizarre” or “a fever dream”
Thanks for spoiling the word for me: *Me reading this comment before I finished the video.*
I wou;d say these words describe the seasons very well. I wonder what word he'll use for season 11?

If Tug when he was younger thought that one shot of the Chinese Dragon coming towards the camera in Season 3 was creepy.... imagine how totally freaked out he'd be seeing it do that dance for the first time. 😰
I can’t believe the Chinese dragon 🐉 was return from season 3 but it could’ve return in CGI too
*ITS ALIVE!!!! ITS ALIVE!!!!*
Everyone remember the original wooden model looked nothing like the one in the show? I still own mine, it looks less like a dragon and more like big bird combined with a flatbed truck
This was the version of the dragon I grew up with. I was unsurprisingly traumatized by it when I was a kid.
Tug popping off that a Driver was acknowledged was honestly so funny
Underrated comment😂

22:31 If I had a nickel for every time Tug made this joke with Toby- ah forget it.
It’s kinda crazy how Rosie, Rocky, and then Whiff next season, are the only Hit-model era newbies to become long-running mainstays in the series, lasting long into the CGI era
Whiff is becoming my new favorite character tbh
Don't forget Stanley and Mr. Percival.
@@ABellEngine I guess I overlooked Mr Perceval cuz he’s human, ask for Stanley…maybe that just shows how forgettable he is…

Love how you mentioned the S10 bloopers. For the model series we know the least about with its production, it’s funny how it’s the only hit season we have footage of the bloopers for
Too bad the season 4 Rheneas and Duncan models haven’t been seen since due to the guy who owns them going into hiding. I hope he’s still looking after them.
Can you imagine if the bloopers could’ve been goofs or delete scenes and maybe maybe alternate ending

Fun Fact:
James The Second Best was the final time we saw the Perspex models of James and Edward. The following two seasons along with the Great Discovery only used the brass models.

You know, the advantage of these dumbed down episodes with simple vocabulary is that they are helpful to watch when learning a different language. Because Thomas is so mainstream, he has been translated into so many different languages, making his show a great watch for anyone trying to learn a new language. I am personally trying to learn Russian and because there aren't too many resources to my disposal right now, I am trying to learn on my own terms. So, watching these episodes in Russian has been a good challenge for me. (Also, the Russian narrator is just so much better than Brandon imo.)
Never thought of that, guess I’ll give the hit era that
I was doing the same but with Welsh until they decided to change it to the not very good all engines go. Not watching that under any circumstance
Another great video! Brings back all those memeories of me leaking the S10 bloopers online and seeing everyones reaction. Luke's gonna be really happy on friday, I can tell you! And It seems we pretty much have the same thoughts on Roise haha.
ALSO, since you mentioned continuity, one thing I should mention is that the cow shed that was built in Big Strong Henry is actually seen throught the rest of the season, such as the shed being in Thomas' Frosty Friend and other S10 episodes.
Too bad Rheneas and Duncan’s season 4 models have gone into hiding with TomsProps, I hope he’s still looking after the props he has. Who knows what else he’s gatekeeping.
@@joshuaW5621 Why has he gone into hiding?
@@ThomasFisher-jr6bn Adam caught him gatekeeping the season 10 blooper reels and he said he would get the cops involved.
idk why but Tug's rant about Rosie cracks me tf up.
"She's Thomas's girlfriend"
"She's the pink one"
I'm not even gonna debate the idea that steam engines feel love.
If you remember Rosie's DC minifig guise, being the Girl Thomas makes all the more sense.
@@optiquemusic6204I mean it's not a new concept, remember when the bride kissed Percy and he blushed? I think its pretty obvious that since the trains are sentient, naturally they'll feel love
Gotta say, as much as we meme on Brandon's nasally voices, the one he gives Duncan is actually incredibly spot on.
Plus he’s trying to have more fun. Angelis no offense overdoes the shouting Percy and James a lot
For season 11 he's definitely gonna praise Hector voice
I'm going to guess that Sir Handel's recharacterization was largely due to his name containing "Sir" along with the bible's suggestion that he was an older character. "Oh, his name's _Sir_ Handel, he must be an old and responsible engine."
Whatever it was, at least he grew up since season 4. You rarely see characters grow and change in this era of the show.
@@joshuaW5621but that doesn’t necessarily make him old.
"Okay time to complain about Edward again." nice way of talking about his spotlight episode.
At least you gave some compliment on Michael Brandon's improvs because that's what brings a boring season like HiT to life. He talked about in his interview on Jake's Happy Nostalgia Show where he had discussions w/ HiT Entertainment about giving the characters more reactions to the situations they were in like 'Woahs' and 'Aggghhhs' rather than just reading the lines based on what they say in the script w/ no sound in the recording booth.
Yeah, I saw that too. Despite some of the questionable voices he gives some of the characters, I like that he has energy and he makes the characters sound more real.
Season 10 can be summed up as: Mostly bad, but god bless James
James, even Gordon, were both standouts until the end. They really carried the model series of the show until the end.
One of The reazons james is my favorite but kinda driftin onto douglas
Season 10 is a really drag to get though
@@user-cj6zo8ik6w oh yeah it is, that's when everything from Miller really started to take shape and became more noticeable.
@jordenfilmz also too there nothing special or inserting about it at least season 11 is in HD and has a yellow filter so it at least you can tell it apart unlike seasons 9 and 10
I hate how Sir Handel is known to be the senior of the rest of the Narrow Guage Engines when Skarloey and Rheneas were there before him and Peter Sam.
I 100% believe that, in some part, Sir Handel was re-interpreted as the "old and wise" narrow gauge engine because of the fact that his name has "sir" in it. Seriously. With how the writers seemed to have such a shallow understanding of the characters during this era, it would be no surprise to me if that extended to characterizing him based on his name alone.
Thomas: Mr. Snowman, I told you to go back to the children! Why are you still following me?
Deadpool: Well that’s just lazy writing.
STH: Thomas. That snowman is just a balloon and it has gotten stuck to your buffers.
Thomas: Mr. Snowman, I’ve had enough of you following me everywhere! Go away now!
Comedy gold, thanks to James A. Williams!
I hate you Sharon Miller.
I think Micheal Brandon is at his best when he narrates first few CGI seasons where he voices only the narrator and Diesel while all the other characters have voice actors.
Wait, Brandon only voiced Diesel of all characters in CGI?
@@adventuresofamtrakcascades301 Besides the narrator yes Brandon only voiced Diesel at least seasons 13-16. By season 17 Diesel was recast.
I liked him in Season 8, he was surprisingly good in The Pack, and definitely good during the early CGI series (the narrator and Diesel)
He also voiced Mr. Bubbles the clown in Slippey Sodor
@@vinbus1912 Really? I thought he only voiced Diesel and the narrator and Mr. Bubbles the clown was voiced by someone else that wasn’t Brandon.

@@Avery_Productions How would Thomas be the MVP of Season 21?
I think the MVP for the last two model seasons would be:
Season 11: Hector
Season 12: James (again)
I'd like to think that the reason why Sir Handel is the complete opposite to what he was back in Season 4 is that he was sent to work at a stone quarry somewhere outside of Sodor at some point as punishment for his impulsive nature going too far and while he was there, he was adequately humbled by Freddie, who he meets there and returned to Sodor a different engine. That may sound like a ridiculous punishment, but lest we not forget that it's not as bad as Smudger's punishment of getting converted into a generator in Season 4.
The more I think about this idea, the more I want someone to make a small fan series of sorts using this idea. It would be a pretty interesting way to explain why Sir Handel wasn't present in Seasons 5 to 9 and it's a far more unique way than how his character bio describes him as in the Writer's Bible. The first episode would basically be the final straw for Sir Toppham Hatt as he sends Sir Handel away to a quarry outside Sodor for a while after his actions did him big time. Once Sir Handal is over there he progressively improves on his behavior thanks to Freddie and others he encounters while he's away.
I know Kiefer Adams made an audio story of first episode in your saga "Sir Handel final scheme"
I think what's curious is that, come the reintroduction of the Skarloey engines in the CGI eras, whilst everyone else (thankfully) reverted back to their old personalities, Sir Handel... didn't really. I know they didn't appear as much in that era, but I don't recall him going back to his arrogant, bossy persona he had previously. Almost as if that one change stuck... which is kinda impressive considering even The Railway Series went back to the status quo for him. He does tease Samson in one episode, and brag about his special wheels in another (both these moments also involving Peter Sam, which is nice considering their past friendship), so it's clear that his old side hasn't completely gone away.
@@killdozer7792 Little moments of his old self popping up sometimes is good enough.

One other detail to like about It's Good To Be Gordon is how it's Thomas that warns Gordon about Henry. After all those earlier times of slagging off Henry for whining about being sick, I liked how him realising Henry's illness was a real thing actually stuck following What's the Matter With Henry, even in the worst eras where Thomas was constantly relearning every other moral. He always seems to be keeping his eye on Henry after that, like realising how he treated him before really shook him up.
It is sad the ORIGINAL perspex engines were treated like shit. Even worse being that three were disposed off for no reason after the model series ended
Which ones?
I'm inclined to believe that the original Thomas may of been destroyed or thrown out with how they much they abused it

What they could have done to Rosie is like what they've done to Hugo in later seasons, like, make Thomas feel anxious about her, since she's part of the ones that replaced his kind at the harbours
The USADCs didn’t really replace the E2s completely. They both lasted into the 1960s, plus I’m not exactly sure if that would impact Thomas’s view on Rosie.
@@joshuaW5621 they still made an impact on the E2 usage though, as they were better runners and even shunters than it
That could be where the Thomas-Diesel rivalry stems from
@@fanofeverything30465 well not really, since they both were replaced by Salty class of diesels

"I was gone for a long time, and there's not much coal or water in the Shadow Realm"
All I can think of is when hearing of these types of episodes is “Baseball Bugs”, when Bugs perplexes his slowball pitch, the players strike out and umpire says out “1, 2, 3 strikes, you’re out!” That sums this season up in a nutshell, although I’m sure many of us would be saying that multiple times this season without a doubt
As someone who is a major Looney Tunes fan, I’m pleased to see this type of comment.
I may be a Disney kid and of course Thomas too, but I’ll always have room in my heart for the Looney Tunes too. In fact, I’ve even made a comparison to James and Daffy before too
And then the great discovery is the home run off the tree stump
Sir Handel’s return in S10 makes it all the more unfortunate they didn’t make a proper bigger model for him after S4. We could have seen signs of character development had Sir Handel appeared in S5, S6, and S7, and therefore his new S10 personality wouldn’t feel like such an Out of Nowhere Retcon.
Also imo he should've been used for Old Bridge like he could deal with the PTSD from bulldog
@@LegendaryCaptain that’s literally what I said in the season 7 retrospective and what I’ve been saying for years. Check the S7 video out. I said the same thing there.
I think S6 Could be skipped over But S5 and S7 Would have been perfect for character development for him for example in snow he told the trucks to try to crash into Duncan but end up crashing into him instead and causing the avalanche making him have a major turning point and in the old bridge have him afraid of the bridge since his bulldog incident and have Duke get stuck on the bridge to repay him after he saved him from the bulldog incident. I think I just created a sir Handel character arc
@@Avery_Productions Let me help you expand upon that. Let's take the premise of "what's the matter with Henry" from S7 and turn it into a Sir Handel episode. Let's call it "A sick day for sir handel". Sir Handel is sick for real, but the others think he is faking it to get out of work, which you can't really blame them since Sir Handel has pretended to be sick in the past. When he and Duncan are assigned to pull a massive shipment of slate, Duncan leaves most of the trucks for Sir Handel to take on his own. At this point, you would think Sir Handel would give up, but Sir Handel is so angry with Duncan he decides to pull all those trucks at once out of spite. "I'll show them! I'll show them! I'll COUGH COUGH Show them!" and he is almost there before he finally breaks down. At this point, the others apologize for not believing Sir Handel but also praise him for getting that far despite being sick, Proving Sir Handel CAN be really useful if he puts his mind to it.
@@ryhi5 honestly that’s a great story idea and should have been used
7:04 "You must pull very slow coaches" he screeched
Lol what
This is the era where the wandering engines with no trains and seemingly randomized sets make it increasingly feel as though there is no world outside the set, unlike in the David Mitton era. This is also a problem I see with modern Star Wars, as though the things we see were chosen specifically to fill the frame as opposed to putting a camera inside a wildly inventive world.
James as MVP? Amazing choice❤
James is my favorite character He’s the best character out of everyone all his episodes are great He is great He has some splendid red paint and I love him

At least Sir Handel is now out of the Shadow Realm
I love that Edward is just simply the best :)
Great review on this one, Nic! S10 is definitely the show at it’s lowest but the strange glimmers are certainly there. Neat that despite the story issues, interesting that Duncan was nearly MVP this year and that it took James till this season (where he also gets two new models of him AND two merchandising gimmicks) to get the W. Great to hear Michael Brandon won the dubbing war this time! Strange that we didn’t hear much, but it’s S10 and I’m grateful you spared us the writing.
Also the ‘done’ voice you have throughout was hilarious.
One thing that I noticed that it's always the newbie on the Skarloey Railway that gets focused on in their own debut story. Mighty Mac, Freddie, Madge... whereas Molly, Neville, Rocky, etc are "the new guy" in a story about Thomas or Edward or someone.
That's a great point, I never thought about that. Maybe since they viewed all the Skarloey engines as side characters, it wasn't an issue to let a new side character take the lead?
Great retrospective video as always. This season is definitely the second messiest season of the Hit Era, season 12 being first for me.
Glad that you pointed out the light engine and set issues. I kinda noticed the light engine thing a few months ago and it did sort of bothered me as well, though not as much than you did.
As for sets, I agree that the locations did feel like they were made just for plot convenience and toys. The geography of Sodor in the Hit era just didn’t exist.

34:30 I have heard a rumor on the internet saying that James was supposed to be the lead in this episode but his prop wasn't working during production of this episode. So since they picked the engine closest in size to him, Edward. Obviously there is no way to confirm this unless a former producer/assistant does. However, considering that the 'Thomas HIT bible' depicts Edward as old, frail, and weak... "Edward Strikes Out" feels out of place even for Edward's "character" in the HIT era.
“Oh, but he’s _old!_ And old people hate new things! It’s _totally_ in character!”
Honestly the narrow gauge should have gotten a spinoff series
Kid me would’ve watched the fuck outta that
An excellent summary and review of the series as always!
Unrelated note...has anyone ever found out why Sir Handel was absent for so long after Series 4? His smaller model still existed so you would think they could have had him in the background in Series 5 at least?
Personally I think the writers didn't know what to do with him because of Duncan. On the surface Sir Handel and Duncan can play that troublesome character for an episode, so they decided to just keep one of them.
Obviously the two had more differences than that, but when you get less screen time than Series 4 and less experienced writers from Series 6, the similarities may have got Sir Handel overlooked for while.
Also Michael Brandon's birthday is tomorrow
Happy birthday to him then.
WHAT?! I didn't know that!
As far as engines just running light, doing fuckall, you are definitely not alone.
You know for some reason, I never noticed the light engine thing. Now that you said it, I realise it's been bugging me forever and I could not find what it was. Thanks for letting me rant better.
Awesome video you should add the The Great Discovery with your next retrospective for season 11. You should talk about how everyone in the movie feels in character, there were five models of Thomas used and the bridge and tower scenes and how amazing they are falling apart.
Busy as a bee James was the best thing to come from season 10
I love the Green Controller episode with Percy being a controller as telling them to do like Gordon being a slow coach and Toby trying to pull the express and James the bee engine
James in his bee paint color has to be the best part 🐝.
I like to think that was supposed to be a reference to Buzz Buzz
Imagine a Unlucky Tug and Usual Bloke Luke collab. That would be awesome.
Hopefully before the last season
Maybe, for Series 11, since they're both caught up.
I'd like to see a collaboration between Unlucky Tug and History In The Dark (HITD). He (HITD) is also a very big Thomas fan, and a very big railfan.
Not gonna lie, I completely forgot about the moving Chinese dragon and it kinda startled me. I forgot how unsettling it was.
I whish Edward stricks out was a Harvey episode with him being jealous of rocky thinking he could replace him but then after realising that he can't get gordon back on the rails he goes for rocky and then after he thinks maybe there can be two craned on the island it would've been so much better.
No wonder some people say they hate Thomas, I can’t believe they let the quality drop this badly 😤😩 oh well, At least the human props getting abused in the behind the scenes footage was funny. 🤣
Well, what do you know? The second time he gives a shoutout to Usual Bloke Luke!
I always had something of a soft spot for Season 10. A lot of the tropes we hate about the show really began to pop off here but the handful of good episodes 10 did have, were also some of the best of this era of the series.
A handful a strong eps does not a good season make but Season 10 despite being a harbinger of things to come, had something of a comfy charm to it despite its mostly formulaic set of episodes.
And no, Tug. You're not the only one who loathes the light engine epidemic that the show had taken on. It always looked so detached from reality, even for the HiT era.
13:00 You just made a learning segment, perfect for this era! 😂😅
Here's something to think about: if the engines need drivers to control their movements, wouldn't that mean that the majority of the time that the Fat Controller scolds the engine for doing something wrong, the fault should really lie with the driver and not the engine?
Aside from the Magic Railroad and All Engines Go, the franchise can't seem to decide if the engines can move on their own or if they need their crews to move them.
EVERYONE WAKE UP, A NEW THOMAS RETROSPECTIVE
41:27 I’m pretty sure those R&R cranes actually can move under their own steam just at a snail’s pace
43:29 it's pretty ironic how you chose James The Second Best as your favorite episode this season, as it was the first ever episode of Thomas I watched.
POV HIT be like: Merch first Character second.
5:24 this made me burst out laughing also RIP worker of the sordor railroad also I guess Henry's boiler was overflowing whif fire or eat a bean burrito
I love how Gordon move his eyes away from the blast, like he's thinking "oh my"
@DanChan-qb2ec yeah I know it made it even more funny than ever after all the worker lands in front of both of them
ikr
10:10 I think that was my biggest issue I noticed, being an avid railfan at 5 years old, along with my father. So used to my father's model railroads and my toy trains pulling trucks or cars or coaches, it's the only hiccup I ever found in the Thomas series as a child. All the light running trains, the absence of storytelling around them in this season, as if it's only the engine they care about instead of an entire train. So many past episodes pivot on the trains being pulled, and as the HiT era came along, it was like no trains or one car/ item trains were the new thing. Always felt weird as a kid, and these masterful breakdown videos still validate that 20 years later.
I find it introspective how the stigma of model era Thomas goes:
The classic ceries was known for having beautiful sets but props that were awkward to handle, but then the tables got turned around in 2004 when the props worked well in an era that had sets people found considerably bland.
Although, I find the Hit Era interesting.
27:11 right on the money tug. The only Thomas toys my parents ever bought for my older sister were Thomas and Rosie.
The only good thing about this season is that it gave us Rosie. Shame they didn't go any deeper with her idolization of Thomas (would've been fun to acknowledge her basis replacing Thomas's basis on the SR)
My childhood. If you're a 2000's kid this one will probably ring a few bells.
As a kid watching season 10 I really enjoyed it but I can definitely see why people would dislike it now.
Hold on, didn't Bertie have moving eyes back in Season 7's "Three Cheers for Thomas"?
I’m surprised his eyes didn’t move in seasons 3-6.
Ah Thomas and The Frosty Friend, the episode where Thomas went from 1 to 0.1. because he became the stupidest engine on Sodor.
Ha! Got'em!
I love that you acknowledge the trainz community in the statement about "Good to be Gordon." I would love to see you talk about any episodes that you enjoy and creators on CZcams that create amazing thomas trainz content. 😁
I love what you pointed out in James the Second Best! Also I can't wait for the review on Hero of The Rails which I love! There, it's not just James who acts just like Edward, but all the other engines. Plus Thomas with his seasons 3, 5 & Magic Railroad persona.
Rosie is a character with so much missed potential. They never did much with her even though they easily could have. It felt like she should have been more of a character considering how much she was used in this era of the show. But they never went much further with Rosie other than her being the token girl tank engine.
I feel like Sir Handel and Skarloey switched places in the HiT Era.
Season 1: Complete
Season 2: Innovation
Season 3: Big
Season 4: Comfy
Season 5: Peak
Season 6: Cute
Season 7: Eye of the Storm
Jack and the Pack: Quaint
Season 8: Milquetoast
Season 9: Peaks and Valleys
Season 10: Drawn Out
Come on guys let’s this talented man to 100k subs
Say what you will about Sir Handel’s new personality, but at least he grew up in this era, unlike most other characters. No wonder they kept his new personality in the CGI series.
Unfortunately since Sir Handel never appeared in Season 5 or 6 we never got to see signs of growth, so his Season 10 persona feels less like growth and more like a Retcon.
Although it is a popular headcanon that Sir Handel did something so bad the Thin Controller sent him away and being alone to reflect on his behavior motivated Sir Handel to finally change his ways.
@@ryhi5I think they implied that in a Smooth Ride when the narrator says he was away working at the quarry.
With old and wise removed of course while having some aspects of his old self pop up like boasting about his special wheels and a little cheeky to Samson. For me in fan stories of my own and others, perhaps having some moments of impulsive and arrogance pop up while still keeping his maturity would do well for him to retain memory of his roles in Series 4.
@@ryhi5 Don't forget 7.
Did they, though? Sir Handel barely speaks in CGI.
5:25 For those wondering how that happened, from my understanding this was caused by the smoke generator they used to make the black smoke, which was placed in the tender, overheating.
Edward Strikes Out is an episode that could’ve been so much better. I would remove Edward’s hatred for Rocky, and replace it with Edward working with him as a ‘rescue engine’, sort of what was planned for Barry in the RWS.
At this point in the Thomas retrospective, I feel like we’re truly entering the dark age of Thomas.
Thomas' Frosty Friend could have been a bit better if it was about Thomas wanting to return the snowman to the children but encounters obstacles along the way.
Great idea!
