Quintrex 400 Trigger - the newest tinnie, designed for a F25hp

  • Back in the good ol' days 2-stroke outboards were ideal for smaller tinnies. Since those days are no more, we are left with 4-strokes which are in many, many ways superior to 2-strokes, but can be slightly more heavy. This is an issue for small tinnies and has put a 'soft cap' on the horse power on tinnies under 4m. Quintrex realised this and came up with the 400 Trigger which is rated to a 25hp 4-Stroke.

2 strokes were banned to stop Chinese power equipment from being imported a total scam
      I loved 40 and below 2 strokes
Ban cruise ship is pollution was the real issue

@@BrisbaneYamaha definitely an overkill. There isn't that many boaties on the water out to cause any pollution problems. Can't beat a small 2 stroke, so easy and transportable compared to a 4 stroke.

@@BrisbaneYamaha ban luxury yachts in southern moreton bay aswell those assholes run semi trailer size engines burning oil at a rate uncomparable to a dozen 40 hp 2t engines they tear shit outta the sea bed as yamaha warned years ago in the tide guide back in the day let alone the precious mangrove lined islands being torn to shreds by the mere wake so these assholes can showcase there wealth drinking wine and eating hoderves whilst the average earning aussie battler cant buy a tinnie and 2t outboard off the shelf at a realistic price to enchance him his wife and especially his childrens lives on a day out fishing

You’re just teasing me with this video. Waiting for mine to arrive in Jan. All back ordered and late. Should note that the electric tilt/trim is only available on the long shaft.

    Nice review, thank you.
I was surprised to hear you say that “Yamaha is miles ahead of the pack”. Imo they have been trying to catch Suzuki’s designs for more than a decade. Now Tohatsu is coming up with some brilliant designs and is going to great length in weight savings. FYI the Tohatsu 25/30hp efi is 3 cylinder and 1kg more (58 vs 57kg) than the Yamaha 25hp efi twin cylinder. It offers 500cc vs Yamaha’s 432cc and is considerably smoother running from the 3 cylinder design. It also offers the idle settings for troll speeds. You should try it and you will be surprised to find that Yamaha still has some work to do in catching the pack. FYI Yamaha’s 30hp efi is a behometh 92kg vs Tohatsu’s ultra lightweight 58kg.

Wow that’s very impressive research and technically correct however in Australia Tohatsu’s almost don’t exist they are available through a very few small dealers their market share is almost nil and if you do buy a tohatsu 4 stroke your resale is very low while their pricing is high and reliability not great
Now don’t get me wrong tohatsu is the oldest Japanese brand and their 2 strokes were unstoppable and I loved them
Owned a 25 hp for years but for unknown reason they were late to 4 stroke technology shared Honda models and other disastrous business decisions
As for Suzuki they’re dropping off the continent too their market share in Australia has halved because of corrosion issues really dodgy dealer network and very poor reliability and bad factory backup after haines signature stopped importing them to Australia
So if your going to buy a 25 hp
Just do what everyone else is doing and buy yamaha for your peace of mind it will never break down, and if you want to sell it, you’ll get top money and it’ll be sold instantly plus it’s a fantastic outboard as you know
