- Another cover from the SoloDallas team, done back in early 2019. Entirely crafted in our studios, this cover aims at reproducing sounds and feel of the world's greatest rock band of all times: AC/DC.
A new Gretsch G6131MY Malcolm Young Signature Jet was used for all Malcolm Young parts, with its pickup replaced by our SDF63.
Lead guitar is a 1971 Gibson SG with its pickup replaced by our SD71 'T-top' replica.
All SoloDallas SD50 amps used, as well as a Solodallas Solo-X pedal for lead parts.

I zoned in on Malcom Young as the foundation of my guitar playing. Best decision ever, period.
Post some evidence of your playing please, I'd love to see it.
One of my top 5 favorite AC/DC songs. The way the song builds up from the opening base note is something to be reckoned with. Awesome jobs guys. Spot on as usual.
This is time-travel magic. Summoning the spirit of 1975 through great gear, fantastic playing and an obsession with accuracy!!
I love the way malcolm swings between the E and B chords in the intro. It's hard to nail it the way he does.
Not really. You just play the cords one 8th note early every bar and you got it!
I agree, hard to get the groove right on that bit, and
It's where all the attitude is
What is that you add to the fret of the SG?
@@tonytrotter2708 Probably just tape: to mute the high strings while he's playing Angus' rhythm parts so they don't ring out in the recording.
Simple chords and and an unparalleled dynamic was malcom young....
2020... but you teleport me to 1975-1981 when i listen your solos.
05:07 bend and vibrato ALWAYS ON THE SPOT. you are awesome. Is a pleasure for acdc fans that you play at this days.
Brings me to tears, Jesus what a solo.
Do Soul Stripper !!!!!
You're a man after my own heart with a pure AC/DC ear.
That's insane! The tone is spot on.
Love this song
Old school Ac Dc 👍
malcolm and angus would both be so proud of both of you, you both managed to nail these tones like it was off the album from the studio. and fil man you hit every note in that solo and it sounded awesome! keep up the grind! dont stop now
Awesome job guys.. just keep coming up with fantastic recreations.. and I LOVE my STORM. best boost on the market hands down !! .. I recently picked up a G6131-MY used form a touring musician with a little buckle rash "character".. but its awesome.. but the Powertron loaded stock is quite higher output ~ 7.5k.. (vintage filtertron ~ 4.2k??) so i find myself turning the volume down 30% to get the older tones.. full blast on newer songs.. perhaps this was done when Mal was looking to "catch up to Angus" when he started a bit more gain and boost.. perhaps Mal should have just used a STORM pedal instead.. haha.. same effect in the end.. keep it up guys !!
Thats the way you do it,less is more🤘
Off the HOOK!!! you guys are the money, giving me chills! Awesome work !

Awesome playing and sound reproduction guys. That SG lead tone with the Solo X was great. You really get close to that Angus vibrato 👍
Simply astounding.

Can you guys just make a AC/DC tribute band and tour the world when AC/DC is no more!! This would be the next best thing to getting to seeing them.
I'm grateful enough to see them live before Malcolm passed away 😔 RIP the backbone and genius.
Freaking AWESOME!!! AGAIN!!!

Super son, des guitares acérées, une basse en appui, il ne manque que bon scott pour le show ;-) merci
Gday from Australia Guys...
WOW the was impressive and awesome.....
Obviously being in Australia, "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" (AU Release)
WAS and IS one of my ALL-TIME fave albums....
every track is great and The Album Artwork would have to be one of my ALL-TIME faves.....
Maybe only second to "HIGH VOLTAGE" (AU Release)....
Love the Gretsch sound alongside the SG....no better crunch n combo really.....
Once again SD you've blown this Aussie Core-fan of AC/DC away once more with your setup...your sound...

Off the charts brother. One of these days, I'm gonna drop a vox track on to this doing my best Bon impression.
U bros are tight as the young brothers.rock on
Yessss! Finally!!!!!!
You guys could do a 4 week "instrumental" tour of Australia. The crowd will do the vocals ! ! ! ! !
That was fantastic !! The only way I am getting that tone is if I tape up ALL the strings and put on the album.
LOL Randy you gave me the laugh of the day - thank you brother! Fil
Isto sim é música maravilhosa
AC/DC = good. I salute u from Argentina !!
Diego, ACDC aren’t “good”, hermano; they are “amazing”

Молодцы очень круто

And that's what Rock and Roll is about
My woman just got jealous, because now,,,,,,,, I cannot perform. Great show, great show. I also like the gone shootin too. Bad ass dudes, really bad ass
Naied it!
Great playing - but am really impressed by how well you nail the sound and feel of vintage gear. With modern more available alternatives.
Appreciate you. The fact is though that, modern alternatives don't deliver - most of the times. In recent years, Gibson, Gretsch and Fender have gotten better at nailing the same quality (guitars) and then, sound, that their original, vintage counterparts used to deliver (still do). But the newer gear is harder to make work in these contexts. Which is what drove the vintage market to the levels it's mostly been at in the past decades. Nowadays, companies like mine (for example) DO offer some products that will 'warm up' the colder, stiffer instruments that one can find as modern alternatives - so there's that as a positive aspect. The amplifiers we featured on this video, as for another, practical example, are ours (you can see it via our logos on the amplifiers themselves). That was a huge effort on out part in terms of research, investment, time, skill et cetera. I hope you'll enjoy that.
@@SoloDallas what I mean is the vibe of 60s gear seems to be somewhat reachable. With your gear. With todays money.
Easily my favorite song in the whole wide world.
👏🥳👍
Holy mother of good god!
History
Instantly I’m thinking tnt honestly, I know it’s not the same tuning but that gretsch nails it
I heard that George used to face the cabinets towards the wall to get a better sound.
🤘😎⚡⚡🎸
r0ck r0ck r0ck...Fil and company kills it every time...
My favorite song, next is Sin City. These songs get my blood pumping something awful fierce.
I would pay just to watch Fil's face pulls. Lol
Hi , love the video and the tone is all malcolm and nice playing. I have the same signature malcolm guitar and a Marshall SC20C 800 lead series studio classic amp. I have seen guys getting the great malcolm sound like yourself . Are you going straight from guitar to amp, and what are your settings on your amp pre amp, master, treble, mid, bas, presanceplease as I am getting very frustrated anything I try doesn't work. I would really appreciate knowing your complete up .
Thanks
Geoff

Just some thoughts, maybe some stuff from Razors Edge? Or even from Power Up?
what's that black little box that the schaffer is sitting on??
Hey Fil , just great brother Can I ask for the gretsch are you using the Schaffer pedal and if so what settings are on the input and output ?? 👏
What was the stopper/mute thing placed in the bridge of the Sg at the 6th string?
World tour? Well at least come and do some gigs in Glasgow, you know you wanna, the Young brothers may be pleased. 🤞👍
What’s the tape for on the SG fil?
What's the trick at 1mn14s with the adhesive tape ????
Hey Fil, I was wondering why you’d put tape on the frets on the SG? Is it a harmonic thing?
Malcolm was the epitome of what I wanted to be when I picked the guitar at 12. The man was a fn machine, so tight, full chords, not bar chords, full chords and those string sound like they are getting smashed. Just curious maybe I missed it but what did you place on the fret of the SG?
The main two are great but let’s hear it for the bass player ( if it’s not a loop).
Noticed you guys have an SD50 Mal Soec. I thought Malcolm used 100 watt SuperBasses.
Mal used Superbasses for the most part; but the SD50 is essentially a modified JTM45 WHICH was a bass amplifier and which SERVED as the basis for the Superbass by Marshall itself. If one is careful enough, many sounds can be had
Shot in the dark
No no, we shot it in the light
your left hand finger tips must be solid
What for is the plastic thing on the 12th fret?
This
Curious myself. Looks like clear adhesive tape. Why?
@@fieraci8500 I think it's to serve as a partial capo to make the B power chord ring out differently. If you listen to the original the chord also rings out with that weird high-pitched effect as well, which I'm assuming was emulated in this case by using tape to keep the B fretted at the 12th, which is the octave of the B played within the chord normally.
According to The Story of AC/DC: Let There Be Rock, Angus Young created the distinctive opening guitar part by playing with all the strings taped up, except the B. It was a studio trick he learned from his older brother George Young, who produced some of AC/DC's albums and was in a band called The Easybeats.
@@billnelson9413 wow great info 🤘
Is that tape that you are putting on the fretboard? What does that do?

@@billnelson9413 thanks man much appreciate it, that’s a cool little trick! I can hear a difference of the guitar which sounds awesome I need try this. George and angus and MALCOLM are the most creative musicians I’ve ever seen/heard of. R.I.P Malcolm and George young.
Wha pickup is in the Gretsch?
