It is good to be a Mario RPG fan this year.
Between these games releasing in quick succession, the boundless imagination of Super Mario Wonder, and the survey asking about specific RPG mechanics, I'm pretty excited for the future of Mario in general, both in RPGs and mainline games. We'll have to wait and see of course, but I have a feeling we're entering into a very creative era for the Mario franchise.

I love how they essentially took the artstyle from the box arts and the few sprites in the 3ds games that weren’t crunched down to a low resolution for the new Mario and Luigi game
The artsyle looks like it's based on the Giant battles from Dream Team.
i'm sure that's the case but i think they already did that for the 3d models in dream team and just updated those ones
(or maybe even just changed the model's shaders)

What I realised when I went back to watch the Zelda reveal is that I didn't process a single thing about the trailer. I just saw Zelda, realised really late that we could play as Zelda, and blacked out.
This is the one I'm most excited for tbh. Second Mario & Luigi. I don't even think Prime 4 will release for the old Switch since there's no logo anywhere in that announcement.

also, thats not true. he had super mario RPG (legend of the seven stars), paper mario series, mario & luigi series, and mario + rabbids series. so 4. the last of those is pretty recent, so it never even really had time to die.
Nintendo REALLY wants you to remember that good Mario Universe stories exist.

This latter half of the Switches life span has been a good time to be a Metroid fan to be honest.
First 2D Metroid sequel after 19 years, and the first Metroid Prime sequel after 17 years. And now we're getting both within such a short time span.

I think it really fits their whole "Triforce of Wisdom" theme to make the Zelda game even more about puzzles than usual. And more specifically, about seeing the artificial limits of Zelda puzzles and say "actually, I have a different solution". I think they learned a lot from BotW and TotK

I'm so happy that they're improving their games every new releases. More AAA need to be like nintendo.
Maybe one day, we'll get something totally out of left field and get a game with Ganon as the protagonist to give us Triforce-of-Power-style gameplay
@@condor6327 He was a warlock skin in Diablo 3 but well...Blizzard is more evil than Ganondorf could ever be so ehhhhh. And you could play as him for a bit in Hyrule Warriors but the story is still about defeating him. A full on villain protag game would be phenomenal. What would it be called? Something "of Power" if this keeps going.
I'm so amazed that they took the creativity of Wild and said "make Grezzo do this."
Grezzo finally gets the chance to make a NEW game than just a remake, and they sure are stepping up.

I saw it and the Prime 3 fan in me yelled "OMFG it is the Hunter II!!! Its Metroid Prime 4!!!!" Lol, I was jumping up and down. I cant wait for next year!

Oh my gosh, I just felt the years pass me by... I was in college when Arlo freaked out about this in 2017, and now I'm living in another country and a new father. It feels like not that long ago though.
@@TayoEXE I got my Switch in 2018, it was my first Nintendo console (I have gone back since to older consoles) and I was in 5th grade, no I'm almost in the final year of high school, it's about a third of my life.
So yeah I was a bit exaggerating when I said 7 years, but I'm sure it's true for others

welp. so much for them "phoning it in" this year. Also, just for those who dont understand, Marvel and Capcom essentially just localized their Mother 3. Thats how huge that collection is.
If only we actually got Mother 3 localized.. like.. we know it exists on online for Japan so it's not like people are asking for something that isn't even on that set of online yet...
@@BaconNukeThe issue is the demands over the music, which ripped off a lot of other tracks and would likely get NoA smacked with a lawsuit, but they've been told that they can't alter the music. That's why they sort of hard winked at the fan translation.
@@BJGvideos I read somewhere Nintendo tried releasing the Mother 3 soundtrack on iTunes to see how feasible it would be to release Mother 3 in the west, but ithe soundtrack got taken down because of copyright issues.

I screamed when I saw the Mario & Luigi logo. Nobody expected it to return after Alphadream had filed for bankruptcy. To see a new installment -- a fully 3D one at! Is mind blowing.
You can sum up this Nintendo Direct with the phrase “Oops! All bangers!”
My first big foray into Gaming News and Discussions was the E3 presentation where Nintendo announced Prime 4 (and Arlo’s iconic reaction). It’s wild to see it all come full circle like this.
Weird because my first ever hearing of E3 Presentations was back in the mid to late 2000s, when Nintendo introduce the revived Nintendo Revolution console (which later became the "Nintendo Wii") and the rumor of Mario Kart Wii getting up to 32+ players all in one race (or as I saw it as, 32 players playing locally on one Mario Kart game) was wildly shocking to hear that, but it ended up being 12 racers for both local and online racing events instead of 16 or more. In terms of Arlo though, I didn't discover him until 2017/2018 when I came across his Nintendo Direct back in 2017 and such. So yeah, it feels as if it's going to start with a want/promise, and end with getting the product you wished for in return.

Oh buddy, the moment I saw the shading and the style, I knew right away it was another Mario & Luigi game, but the moment I saw the beginning trailer, I wasn't sure if it was a new game or some mention a remake of the first game and such...But yeah, it's the sixth installment in this series (which is weird considering I forgot about the other three games prior to Mario & Luigi Brothership (aka Mario & Luigi RPG 6 in Japan).
I honestly love the idea of 2D Zeldas having Zelda as the main character. 2D Zeldas lend themselves very well to puzzle heavy designs. And since Zelda is the bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom, it just makes sense that her games would be puzzle heavy!
We got so fucking spoiled this direct

I only kinda liked darkest dungeon and mario party but I didn't see Pauline or PomPom in the trailer so I don't think I'll enjoy it as much

Oh totally. Even with series I personally don't have an interest in, I love knowing that people are happy for these. And especially Metroid since I know how much the fans have been waiting.

I know I’m in the minority here, but the biggest announcement for me was the Ace Attorney announcement. Another JP only game gets localized, and we now have every Ace Attorney game (minus the Professor Layton crossover) on the Switch. Huge W.
Same. While I miss the fan translation, which was absolutely incredible, but it is still one of my favourite games of all time and I cannot wait for more people to play it. Also, since there's now no longer any Japan exclusives, the next step has got to be AA7

I watched the direct straight from the Nintendo channel. Then, I came here to re-watch the whole thing just to hear Arlo lose his mind over and over and over again. It was totally worth it.

2025 is shaping up to be an absolute landmark year for the entire industry.
They managed to instantly make me remember prime 3, it has a extremely similar feeling in the style and setup, the fights in the background are probably more a nod to dread, which I also like.
