To clear up any confusion: It looks like F1 is set to return to the Nürburgring GP Circuit for the first time since 2013 - not the Nordschleife which was the focus of this video.
Does this mean they don't have to go for 20km per lap?
haz waqil That’s correct. The GP Circuit is around 5km long
@@VehicleValhalla during the year when nikki crashed. Did they race in the 20km circuit or was it the 5km grand prix circuit?
Adhnan Riyaz That was the 20km Nordschleife. The shorter GP Circuit was only opened in the 1980s if I remember correctly, after the closure of the Sudschleife

I'm pretty ignorant about this argument. What are the best slick/semislick tyres?
Imagine having a puncture and having to drive all the way around the track to the pits.
Yeah, but nowadays a puncture is a cause for DNF in its own on any tracks. The tire destroys the floor, and after that there's simply no reason to continue.
@@Petidani0330 Your just arrived at that conclusion from Leclerc's puncture at Monacco for sure. Drivers can safely drive thier cars to pits if they're careful. There have been instances that drivers have even won after having a puncture.
@@silveradopunked8329 No, not only from Leclerc's example, but while we're at it, please tell me, when was the last time and what were the circumstances when a punctured driver won in the end? I'm curious what kind of example you have.
@@Petidani0330 Alonso P7 in Baku last year I believe. Had a puncture and a damaged floor as a result of it on the first lap. I know he didn't win but it was an impressive result.
@@sergiutoader123 Yeah, that was pretty lucky actually, as somehow the tire became completely loose from the rim, thus saving the floor from utter destruction. Fair point.

Monaco&Azerbaijan: Are we a joke to you
Runoff areas are overrated lmao. Like you said, we have Monaco & Azerbaijan without them. Runoff has ruined quite a few circuits, like Paul Ricard where you just drive off and back on. It's sad to see tracks like Suzuka be popular for the simple reason of having graveltraps & walls instead of runoff, because that should be a given at all tracks. Runoff is also the main reason stewards have to resort to BS penalties instead of letting the gravel/walls do the talking lol.
If it's safety they're after, just put in some better catchfencing so they don't fly into the trees.

not only is the track really dangerous on its own to the drivers, it also has a lot of elevation changes especially the later parts leading up to the big straight line, which in turn makes the cars a lot more prone to mechanical failures in full length races
The F1 circuit I miss the most is Watkins Glen, still one of the best tracks in the world.
Elkhart Lake, the best track in the world never to host an F1 race.

I’m kinda over Laguna Seca from a spectator standpoint,
aside from the corkscrew it’s too vanilla or my taste.
at Lagune are strict noise regulation...but the turbos nowdays are not that loud. NA V8 would be banned...
Road America, too
@@tomast9034 But usually tracks have a like a few "noisy days" per year for big events like MotoGP, WSBK etc.. It's the same with the Sachsenring. If you want to go on a trackday with your own bike, it's only allowed to be around 95-98db. MotoGP bikes are like 120db i think. So this shouldn't be a problem and as you said, these tiny turbos don't have sound at all.
I agree, Laguna Seca is about the right size with challenging turn such as the "corkscrew".
But I would like to see a modern F1 car set a lap time..
This is still by far my favorite track to mess around on in every game that it's in. Its challenging and fun. 12.94mi long, it is an amazing track. F1 would have to make a lot of modifications to the cars to make it work safer rather than heavily modify the track...either one will be expensive. Though 100 laps around the track would be nice to watch.

Vareos Potshoterzz actually the 919 is faster than f1
@@pipebomb3659 hard to tell probably very similar. I guess f1 is better at lower speed/cornering due to weight and 919 is slighty better on the top end due to the additional power etc. I think both would be very similar but i agree i think the 919 can beat F1 cars depending on the track

Make a video on why sepang track is no longer in the schedule of F1.
(Get this to the top so he can notice this)
My issue with the claim that the corners would be unsafe is that ANY corner is unsafe if you enter it with too much speed.
Honestly, this is why I prefer rally. Rally drivers aren't pampered with cookie-cutter corners and perfectly smooth, high-bite surfaces like F1 drivers are these days.
Really? That's why on some Rally stages the hosts groove out the corners for photographic purposes...While in F1 they overlap the curb stones and elevated hump deterrents to stop the cars cutting the corners?
@@iangoldsworthy2056
I don't see how that's relevant to the discussion.
Are you stupid? There completely different cars built for completely different sports. The reason f1 tracks HAVE to be smooth is because of the way the car is built. If it wasn't the drivers could die. Ps, there's a lot of safety proofing that goes into rally too. They don't let you race if your car doesn't meet health regulations. Does that make rally drivers "pampered" cos the only regulations I can think of for an f1 car are the dimensions.
@@elchompo6114
You're the idiot here. You've entirely missed my point. A HUGE part of driving skill is being able to control a vehicle in less than desirable conditions. Sure, there might be more safety regulations in Rally, but that's due to the fact that there's FAR more room for error. And that's because rally drivers have to deal with those undesirable conditions, whereas F1 drivers literally get to floor the throttle every chance they get because they know they're always going to have good traction and high corner visibility.
Face it, if Alonzo or Schumacher were to get behind the wheel of a rally car, they'd end up wrapping it around a tree in the first corner - not because they don't know how to drive at all, but because they've never had the need to adapt to conditions in F1 like that.

I still remember attempting an F1 endurance race here in a video game, it was the most stressed I've ever felt in a game, and I lost it at the end. The brain function needed to keep F1 pace on an average circuit is intense, this was insane. And that's not even close to what the real thing would be like. There would be so many disasters and deaths unless they utterly ruined this course in making it safe for F1.
I've heard that Interlagos wouldn't host the Brazilian GP after 2020, and that construction would begin for a new race track at Rio de Janeiro.
And I was wondering what if, instead of building a new track, they decided to restore and renovate the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet, in Brasília? What do you guys think, would it be a good track for modern F1 or even F2?
Imagine DRS down that huge straight. SF90 would fly down that stretch.

The Formula One race I enjoy nwatching the most is the Belgian Grand Prix, at Spa-Francorchamps. If I'm not mistaken, it's the longest track on the F1 calendar. It has great variety, with uphills and downhills, and sometimes it's raining on one part of the track and dry on other parts. I can't think of any track that is more appealing to me as a viewer, though Interlagos in Sao Paulo can also be quite fun, even despite how short it is.

BRC(batangas racing circuit) in the Philippines
I still think I should be a great track for pre season testing. You cannot learn about a track I will be used later in the actual season but you will be able to learn the cars cornering straight line and general handling caricaturists.
Actually, I think that a northern loop F1 race might make for very good TV, even if it wouldn't be as great for the people watching at the stadium. With modern camera setups, you could see in depth how every car handled every twist and turn, and with the greater focus on lap times, you would have a very different experience, that would be refreshing to see in the modern F1 setup.
It wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but wouldn't it be amazing to see how these drivers would drive over a 20 km course with large gaps between the cars? You could see Mercedes whoosh by in 1st and 2nd (I mean, it's modern F1), but you could also see how they would make different decisions over a long time. Not every race needs to have a focus on drivers battling it out amongst eachother, trying to overtake in a desperate bid for 3rd place.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

You can drive as tourist there, even when you do not have a racing licence
The Australian F1 GP should be held at the Mt.Panorama Circuit,Bathurst NSW,instead of Albert Pk,VIC.The race would be an absolute buzz
I guess the top of the hill would be problematic for the big fat *ss F1 cars. But agreed would be nice to watch

Watkins Glen!! Would love to see them race there
The argument of length is completely invalid. For decades grands prix were held here and massive crowds attended. There is no problem getting enough marshals as both the 24 hour race and the FIA touring cars prove. The 1976 accident is irrelevant. There have been many worse accidents at tracks still holding GP's, for example, Suzuka, where Jules Bianchi had an accident that was ultimately responsible for his death.
Money... ah yes... now you are talking! The problem, or rather the REAL problem with the North Circuit is this..... Many people can watch free of charge!! No WAY were Ecclestone and Mosley going to allow THAT!
Yes there is validity in the points about trees and run-off areas. but let's not forget, it's the drivers who complain that Ricard is too sterile. A compromise could be reached, ah but that "money" problem....
its just way too bumby(sry im not native english) and the ups and downs would propably lead to cars taking of at places like schwedenkreuz etc so the cars need to be way
You can make the circuit a bit more flat without change this everything
RIP NIKKI!
It will be awesome if they make a similar track to the Nürburgring, but wider and la little bit more room for going out of the track, and because it’s so long race track, they should have 2 Pit Stop places on the circuit.
One regular Pit Box Garage on the start/finish straight (With all the engineers and some mechanics and one Pit Stop Garage in the middle of the track only with Mechanics for changing the tires or doing fast repairs during the race event.
That would give more opportunities for strategies, and it will make the race so much more exciting in my opinion.

I've driven (very carefully) around this track back in the day before there were any ARMCO barriers. If you went off the track then you ended up in the bushes or hit a tree. They won't race on the short track again because the local government there has refused to subsidise the race after losing millions when they sold it. This year the German GP will be at Hockenheim (just a Mickey Mouse track since 2002) and probably there will be no more German GPs after that.

Having a longer track and hence more distance among the race cars would actually reduce the number of accidents that occur when they touch wheels or during overtaking. So it sounds like a better feature than a short track like 5 km one.
Hi Pinar. I think this is one advantage that is heavily outweighed by other disadvantages imo. E.g a longer circuit would require more rescue vehicles otherwise it would take longer to reach the drivers and be more dangerous; this would then strain resources.
Thanks for watching
