  • This is my second video about my recalled Sig P320. I'm having some problems with the disconnector staying up during my takedown/assembly.
    If you have any suggestions as to what might be going on or if you see something I'm doing wrong, please let me know down in the comments. THANKS!

    on a sidenote, notice the milling on the underside of your slide vs. the milling on the underside of others' slides. i've noticed a real inconsistency in the milling of the various slides that are being returned. some people seem to have just a little milling, while still others have extensive milling done. also, the shapes of the milling seem to be different as well.

    • @TXSuburbanHomestead
      @TXSuburbanHomestead  Před 6 lety +2

      Thanks for the video suggestion! It's nice to know I'm not going crazy. I'll definitely have to try the pushing it down first before I reassemble the slide.
      I have noticed the milling differences. Mine is amazingly smooth, but I can't tell it was milled much at all really. I'm an engineer and have done some millwork and I was very impressed with what they did. Or was it how they did it?

      Tx,
      Or maybe Sig didn't mill it enough?!!! That would suck!

    • @bikeracerdude
      @bikeracerdude Před 6 lety +2

      I get the distinct impression that the disconnector is NOT allowing you to push it straight downward in the vertical axis, like I've seen on other videos... Are you pushing straight down on the disconnector?

    • @TXSuburbanHomestead
      @TXSuburbanHomestead  Před 6 lety +1

      I think you're right. It may be that it's a milling issue. I have tried pushing along every conceivable axis and I can't get it to drop like they have in other videos. I do mention in the video at about the 3:04 mark that the trigger released. I've had that happen several times and it's the only way the disconnector will drop at all... Looks like I'll be contacting Sig about.

      @flyingcarpeter Před 6 lety +1

      As the p320 developed the slides changed slightly through generations, probably to make it easier to produce. Some had more lightening cuts on the underside, while others had slots milled to reduce weight. This is why some of the cuts seem inconsistent.

    I have a pre upgrade P 320 that had it's upgrade preformed . I duplicated your user induced flaw. 4 times by pulling the trigger while disassembled. the fix is simple push the disconnect with your thumb straight down . their is nothing wrong with the pistol. but user error. Don't pull the trigger with the slide off. but if you do refer back to the simple fix previously mentioned.

    I got my 320 back a long time ago.They did some work that ground off some of the slides metal finish and never retreated that part of the inside of the slide.The trigger is so slim and flimsy looking. It sits in a safe, I don't carry it.

  • @TheScrapaNater
    @TheScrapaNater Před 5 lety

    The take down lever puts a saftey on the trigger, so the disconnect doesn't reset once it's up until you turn the take down lever. I could see that getting in the way of the slide when assembling.

    Looks like the disconnect is sticking in its housing which is possibly too tight for it to move freely. When I first got mine back from the upgrade and dry fired a couple times after the 2nd one, nothing when I pulled the trigger. Turns out that disconnect was sticking and leaving the safety engaged. It did its job from that perspective, but it's currently back in New Hampshire again to correct it

    Just a quick update. I contacted Sig and they said it might be something that, because it's so different, may just take some time to get used to. However, they did say that if I can't get the disconnector to release down and I'm having trouble getting the slide over that it may be causing damage to the striker and they're sending me a way to send it back to them. I should be shipping it back to them today sometime. I'll keep y'all updated on what happens next time.

    • @bikeracerdude
      @bikeracerdude Před 6 lety +2

      Humor me!
      Try this, step by step, without deviation:
      1) Make sure gun is unloaded and has no empty mag in it.
      2) Rack slide three times, then pull trigger on empty chamber.
      3) From here on out, don't touch trigger at all.
      4) Rotate TDLever and remove slide assy.
      5) Push straight down on disconnector- does it move downward like in other users' P320 videos?
      6) Reinstall slide.
      If the disconnector won't go straight down enough to make slide reinstall easier, try repeating the above, except in step 2, do NOT pull the trigger...
      7) Post results.

    • @TXSuburbanHomestead
      @TXSuburbanHomestead  Před 6 lety +2

      Humor complete. I did this very thing and many more variants like it this morning before I went to work. I can't push the disconnector down at all. It's like after I remove the slide, something odd happens and the trigger is essentially in 1/2 pull and the disconnector is stuck. I can eventually work it enough to get the trigger back in the full reset position. I can then finagle the slide over the disconnector, but it's not an easy move like the other videos. I would absolutely post a video for you, but the gun's already on it's way back to Sig. Whenever I get it back from them, you can expect a follow-up video.
      BTW, thanks for all the tips.

    • @bikeracerdude
      @bikeracerdude Před 6 lety +1

      Another thing I just remembered- I read that the P320 slide must be racked fully after you close the TDLever and after the slide is allowed to go forward...
      It's not in this video, but did you rack the slide after pistol reassembly and with the slide all the way forward?

    • @TXSuburbanHomestead
      @TXSuburbanHomestead  Před 6 lety +3

      You're right. It's not in the video, but I did try that off camera. It didn't help either. I hope I don't just get a returned pistol from them in a few days, but rather some kind of an explanation as to why it a having that issue. Don't get me wrong, I'll take a working pistol, but the note would be nice...

    your disconnect isn't down in this video. You have to push hard on it to get it down all the way. You cannot pull the trigger and then try to put the slide back on (which you did in this video). That being said, I find it very finicky to get back on. Certainly not as smooth and easy as any of my other guns.

    • @pbuehner
      @pbuehner Před 6 lety +1

      I will check back for sure. When I push my disconnector down, it leaves a mark on my finger from pushing so hard. I have learned to not pull the trigger when it is disassembled :) On a side note, the other thing that is annoying is how rough the slide action is when you are mimicking a reset (that is keeping the trigger pressed to the rear and racking the slide). It is very sticky and gritty coming out of battery and then back into battery for the first 3/4 of an inch or so. I think it is a part of the upgrade but I cannot confirm this since I bought a gun with the upgrade already done. I was hoping that it would go away with some shooting but I am about 500 rounds into it with no relief.Thanks for the video.

    • @TXSuburbanHomestead
      @TXSuburbanHomestead  Před 6 lety +1

      Sorry to hear that. Mine was butter smooth prior to the upgrade. I really like the new trigger, but the slide/disconnector issue has essentially nullified an amazing upgrade to the trigger. Hopefully when they get it back to me I'll have something good to report.

I have a .40 cal and the interior of the slide is beefier and does not have firing block cut outs, further more, the slide just does that, it slides back on really smooth, like its on bearings, have taken to the range and at 7 to 50 yrds its right on

      Thanks. I was none too happy, that's for sure, especially with how amazing it was before I sent it off. I have no disassembly or reassembly problems at all. I don't get the secondary trigger click. Should the trigger still click without a round in the chamber. I'm new to pistols. My ar's hammers always do. Do I have a problem, Houston? LOL

    • @TXSuburbanHomestead
      @TXSuburbanHomestead  Před 6 lety +1

      Combat Medic if you rack the slide, the mechanism engages and you should be able to pull the trigger and have a tactile and audible click without a round in the chamber. After that, you have to cycle the mechanism again by racking the slide. I always do this without a magazine in.

      That's the entire point of the video. It didn't work anywhere like it did before. I've got a couple of videos detailing my process of sending it back to the factory. When the slide won't go on, I'd jump out on a ledge and say that's not working as per manufacturer specs. TXSuburbanHomestead I'll check it out but honestly I've lost interest in Sig. And I'm maybe being a little too hostile towards Sig, but Smith & Wesson recalled their Shields because the trigger safety might not spring back. Sig seems like they tried to deny there was a problem with a 320, even though there was a mass of evidence that there was. And what is baffled me is the apologist. Ask yourself how how would you feel about it right now, with experiences you've had with the Sig 320, if it had been the Taurus 320. And honestly that's where my issue with this thing lies.

      @TXSuburbanHomestead  Před 6 lety

      No, it was a problem with the disconnector. I sent it back to Sig for repair & have a couple of follow-up videos. It actually doesn't matter with the 320 if you dry fire with the slide off, particularly before the "upgrade". It works fine now & I can again dry fire with the slide off & still get the slide back on no problem because the disconnector drops down to allow for the slide to go back on. This is the case for both a trigger pull & no trigger pull.

      Don't like the grip angle for the Glock. Just not comfortable for me. It's not like they're without issue though. They've had major recalls on triggers, trigger assembly, slide lock on full magazines, barrel lug issues, firing pins, & recoil spring. There's a major recall right now of the new 17's because the slides are falling off due to an issue with the slide lock/recoil spring.
      I like Sig because for me, over the years, they've been reliable. This is one issue that was fixed at the factory (see my second video czcams.com/video/W5vZWZwsYH8/video.html). I do like the S&W Shield. I'm planning on getting the new 2.0 as my new carry gun soon. I've always liked the M&P, but haven't always liked their triggers. I had no misfeeds, no misfires, and no light primer strikes. It's odd that in several thousand rounds that I didn't even have a faulty round, but I didn't. The Sig worked perfectly for me.
      I have never liked the Beretta or it's predecessor on purely subjective measures, (fit in my hand, trigger, control locations/feel, etc.). I'm curious, what made you buy the APX over any number of quality, capable pistols from Sig, H&K, FN, Glock, S&W, etc.?

      Glock's pre-1992 pistols weren't drop safe and had to have six fire control parts replaced in Gaston Glock's "Voluntary Upgrade". Then there were the frame rail length issues that took Glock 4-5 attempts to fix. Then the Gen 4 debacle. Then the Gen M debacle that Indy PD had...
