Dude! You're the sickest, I love you. How many times did you change headlights for this comparison? Such a quality video, The effort is greatly appreciated

Excellent video as always! Your time spent is VERY evident my friend! I definitely like the DOT light the best. I sent this video to my Dad who just got a 2020 TDubbs!
Just wanted to say thanks for all the content! This is my go to channel for troubleshooting, repair and aftermarket accessories for my 2019 TW200. Keep up the fantastic work!
I have to say, great review! That’s a lot of work changing out the lights and the bulbs. And to take your bike out and do all that work on the road. Again great review! Very professional! Have a good one, cheers
TDK, good to see you back again, kid! Really great concept, camera and execution at the beginning. Appreciate the substance too. Good information. Thanks and keep it up!
Legendary video. Answers everything I wanted to know about stock vs JNS lights and confirms my experience with the JNS high beam. I will definitely be upgrading to the DOT light for spring.
Okay, mad props for the quality of your videos. I know you're bike is a niche sort of model, but bro, your content and production rivals the big names in motorcycle vids. Keep up the excellent work.
Nice review. Thorough. I have the JNS DOT on my DR650 and it is a good improvement over stock, especially the high beam. And like you say, it frees up wattage.

Great video! I have the original JNS on my TW and the DOT JNS on my DRZ400. The high beam on the DOT version is leagues better than on the original on the road and makes me much more confident riding the street at night.
I got a tablet screen protector for cheap at staples, trimmed it to fit and protect for rock hits, for my 1st gen JNS. Thanks for the updated lens review!!
excellent video and comparison. I actually like the 'look' of the stock halogens the most, with the warm yellowish glow. The power draw, on the other hand, is absurd.
Great vid and very well organized. I have the JNS DOT version on a TW and it works very well. Looks like you could adjust yours a tad higher for optimal use. Thanks for a great vid!
Thanks again. Have bought the JNS light but not installed. I have planned on just getting some adhesive foam and matching the factory headlight light suppression wrap. We'll see how it goes. Might end up doing the gaffer tape.
Would love to see you guys, MOBstreet and possibly Dual Dorks team up for a ride/project this summer. Great entertainment and enthusiasm all the way around. Maybe you’ll could run a relay on the TAT, or gang up at Moab. Either would be fun.
Good looking light. I like the tape idea. You also could use double-sided tape and some foam to fill up the space.so the light did not reflect back. Just a different idea. Thanks for the video.
Great video Dubs. That had to be alot of work making that video. Greatly appreciated, thanks. I think I'll go with the Dot approved light for my T Dub. In my opinion the stock light is so bad it outta be illegal.
Hey thanks! yeah I spent a lot of time on that one, swapped out headlights more times than I can count haha. good choice I like the DOT approved one. is your TW older than 2001?
Thanks, bro, cool comparison, helps much deciding on what light to go for. I've been wondering on how to go about enhancing my beam, so far I've found that keeping the stock bulb and adding some side spot lights give me the best solution, but I'm obviously worried about the voltage, so I've started looking for options to replacing the stock one for an LED. I've somewhat reduced my voltage demand by replacing the stock rear bulb with an LED one, but that's not much for sure. My other thought is to get rid of the stock header altogether and replace the whole lighting solution with a couple of aftermarket beamers, which can be calibrated separately for low and high beams, but that'll take a considerable amount of customizing the whole front of the bike. Maybe it'll be worth it; I'll give it a try when I get the chance.
hey no problem, glad the video is helpful. yeah best to go all led so your not over taxing the electrical system. changing the rear to led will help. should work as long as your not blinding oncoming traffic. best of luck
I've watched a few other motorcycle channels over the past month because I want another bike and decided on a 2010 xl1200n sporster. But I gotta say not one channel I watched held a candle...... or a jns headlight to yours. If anyone out there has a position high enough on the food chain at a motorcycle company I'd recommend they give you any bike you wanted, matched your income and then some and bought you any video equipment you needed plus a company credit card for fuel and lodging to make promotional videos for the company.
Oh nice! I like all bikes, thanks, that means a lot. Even being able to do this full time would be cool so I could make more video. Even If I didn’t make much
Hey T, I loved the intro. It reminded me of the voice on the Abe’s video game series. Because of you I bought the JNS headlight for a Xr650l. I am putting it on my Xr650r. I would like to see the difference in the light patterns of their different lights. Have fun and keep up the great videos. Tony
I think the Yamaha universal heated grips consume 22 watts on the highest setting for the 600+ cc setting (there are three heat settings you can change easily, and then three motorcycle size settings you set one time). So that means you could easily run them on the 600cc + overall setting, then still have enough power left over for 20 watts of aux lights and still not be over factory wattage pulled from bike. So yeah that is definitely a great reason to use an LED headlight, not to mention the better light output!
nice! good to know, yeah I can't wait to try some heated grips out. and see how much power they use. for sure so worth it, if you change the rear tail light and running lamps to led you could save even more!
@@TDubsKid yup 👍 The Yamaha grip heaters have an auto off function that works very well. I’ve tested it on my XSR. They just detect if your bike is running or not with the voltage drop From 14v to 13v or whatever. And they shut right off if you forget.
Great comparisons for the headlight look at possibly getting a - Parabellum Suzuki DR650 Headlight Cover, its a acrylic lens to protect your lens, as both bikes have the same headlight should work fine on your TW. Helped keep my JNS headlight looking perfect 1000s of miles later.
Very awesome video as always man . I got the original JNS and I don't like the high beam as well . I think mine has a bad seal too. There is dust on the inside of the headlight itself
hey T.dubs kid .. i'm just busy catching up on your videos and i just gotta say this 1 was verry nice .... yor tw is kitted out really well .. i'll always have a soft spot for the T DUBS cause i learnt to ride on my dad's T.W ... i recently went home on leave and saw what a poor condition my dad's bike was in the clutch is taking really low too ... it sad to see.i wish i could do up our old 95 T.DUB with all the nice parts u have on your bike , but damn i just don't have the budget or the time to do so right now .. maby i'll make a walk around video of the bike i learnt to ride on one of these days ....keep up the great work. i love your videos . Take care . Goodbye now .
hey thanks for watching! glad you enjoyed this one, took me forever to make haha. they are bikes that really grow on you for sure. yeah I know what you mean by not having the time or money. that will be cool. much appreciated, ride safe
Not sure if this is useful for you but it may be worth a try. My dad told me a story about how when he went hunting, grandpa told him to sleep in only his boxers to stay warm in the sleeping bag. He didnt believe him so he didnt do it and slept terribly. Second night he tried it and it turns out to be true. I guess the idea is that your clothes keep the heat close to you, and doesnt allow it to escape. Therefore there is less room for heat to build up, therefore your colder. I guess sleeping in your boxers allows the heat to spread to the whole sleeping bag to keep you warmer. Could be worth a shot ya never know.
I'd go with the DOT myself...having a wider arc of illumination _might_ give you enough warning when a deer (or any other big critter) thinks *now* is a good time to cross the road / trail. 😉 A good set of AUX lights should give you a nice near ground light patch (making up for the DOT's shortcomings in that category).
A cheap and effective headlight upgrade is to use a Sylvania Silver Star H-4 bulb that you can usually find at WalMart. The light is much brighter than stock and they have a fairly long service life. They are a great upgrade for anything that uses an H-4 bulb.
Did your high beam inside the JNS wiggle around mine seems to move. Watched all your videos. Been upgrading my tw with the help of your videos. Keep up the great work!!
Awesome comparison! I would love to see you compare the Cyclops Ultra 10,000 lumens bulb. I made a video comparing it to stock but would love to see it in a controlled environment with the rest of yours. That JNS DOT is pretty awesome, but I love my cyclops. Definitely a different spread pattern.
hey thanks! glad you enjoyed it. for sure I really liked my old cyclops bulb, can't wait to try the new one. can't wait to test some more bulbs and how they compare to the cheap ones. for sure, much different patterns
Surprising how well the stock light lit up the forest and roads with a much wider spread and usable light. It seems like you can see more trees and contours with the stock vs even the new JNS. Your comparisons are awesome and scientific so we can really see the differences. I’m really curious how the upgraded LED bulb in the stock casing and lens compare to the JNS DOT. Maybe there’s something about the stock lens that helps spread the light better?
for sure, I quite like the stock housing too. the cyclops was great, can't wait to do a video on the new cyclops and led bulbs. I'm not sure why that is it's mostly more light closer to the bike
Another great video. Neat to see the headlights by the numbers, and pictured together, well done! I have the older JNS headlight like yours on my Honda XR650L, it is good, but it never really thrilled me. When I installed grip heaters on the DR650 I added a AUXITO H4 fanless LED bulb to the stock DR housing to save my charging system, and have been super impressed on three different night rides. (There is a shameless video on my channel) You can get them on Amazon for under $40. bucks and comes with two bulbs. They work so well I was considering removing the JNS and installing the stock XR headlight with the other AUXITO bulb that came in the package. For the light that comes up around the housing, I went low tech and picked up a few Black hand towels at Wally and simply roll one up and mash it between the light and the housing. It is nice to have a towel handy to clean the visor then just put it back. Pick up Aviation plexaglass cleaner or plastic polish for the scratches in the JNS, mine still looks great after almost two years. You need to get those grip heaters on! It took 45 minutes and even in AZ. they are Sooo nice. I look forward to your next video. Nice to get up and have my coffee watching TDubskid. Time for me to Ride!! Take care.
hey thanks! glad to hear, I need to make a website so that stuff is easier to look up real quick. yeah that original jns was lacking a bit, the new dot one is pretty good though. I really liked my cyclops in my housing before it went bad, can't wait to compare to the new cyclops and one like your talking about. oh cool using a towel as a double purpose, good idea. yeah I need those grip heaters, I think I'm going to put them on a relay so they turn off with the bike. so you can't forget to turn them off. glad to hear you enjoy the videos! ride safe
@@TDubsKid I have the grip heaters wired so when the key is switched off the power is cut. That way they will be off , when the key is off and you don’t come back to a dead battery. Went out today and rode back in the dark, JNS is coming off the XR650L and the stock light is going back on, with the other LED bulb that came in the pack of two. There’s a huge difference! Going to get another pair of $30. Dollar Tusk heated grips for the XR too. I’m spoiled now that I’ve rode the DR with them. Take care. Thank you.
You make the best high quality funny vids. I miss the faces on the rocks tho...🧐 You inspired me to pick up a fresh T Dub....👌🏽 Yamaha Owes you some “In Store Credit”....👍🏽🇯🇵🇺🇸
Awesome! I have not wanted to buy the jns because the high beam was not impressive, this new one just might find its way on my tw, even though i dont ride at night...
Would you do a review on the new Cyclops 10 ultra and the new JNS Morimoto LED headlight? Really interested to see which one you think is better. Love the channel, thanks for all the reviews and maintenance videos. Rolling a T-Dub 2009 that I bought because I found your channel a couple of years ago. Love my T-dub. You should sell some merch!
Another great video T'D'Kid! Inspires me to go ride my '21 w/ 490 mile on it. Haha Put a whopping 70 miles on it last weekend. It has the cheap scamazon led bulb. It's throws much better light than the stock. JNS DOT looks like a winner! Still considering what guards with built in auxiliary lights to get. And heated grips.. And a different phone holder. And where to plug in the microwave... kidding.
thank you so much! Cool, happy riding. nice can't wait to see how those are. can't go wrong with the JNS dot. I love the hbd handgurards but a bit pricy and have to get a different handguard and risers. haha nice
Stock is the way to go. The warmer light offers far more contrast and really does a much better illuminating the landscape. Not sure when LED light makers will realize that 6000k light sucks.
Great video, thanks! While the JNS v2 (DOT approved) is clearly better than the JNS v1 ("high beam is a small dot"), it isn't as clear to me that the light thrown by LED is better than OEM. Yes it looks much brighter, but it is almost so much brighter that the over-illuminated near objects make it harder to see the far objects. I wish LED lights were much more orange or at least natural light in temp than white/blue. The wattage savings are very appealing.
yeah man it's not bad, that cyclops bulb is really great too. can't wait to try the new ultra cyclops h4 it's going to be great. me too, i'm replacing bulbs on my 4runner with led ones. leds have gotten so cheap and good
I'm an old guy and old rider, but I recently bought a couple Tw200s for my family to share. I have been binge watching your videos for upgrade ideas and tips... YT is the best resource for info. I must say, after this video, I actually like the flood and color of the stock light the best. Yes, the JNS dot is bright, but I can't have that sheer blackness directly in front of the bike. Have you found an LED in the last year that beats the JNS?
hey glad to hear! congrats on your TW's. hope you have been enjoying the videos. I agree, I have learned so much on YT. yeah I like the beam pattern of the stock light. not sure what the sheer blackness in front of the bike means. you do need a good cutoff so your not blinding oncoming traffic. I use to have cyclops that was super bright. I think its brighter than the JNS, I have a video on it. czcams.com/video/6HpX2cCxJvM/video.html. it eventually burned out. They have a new upgraded version that is way brighter and better. www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/Cyclops-100-H4-LED-headlight-bulb_p_192.html I would like to get that bulb test it out in a video. make sure to select ultra if you want the brightest possible on high beam
@@TDubsKid Many years ago, I had a Husky 510 that I took to Baja Designs for a street legal kit install. The headlight was an LED system and it was super bright, but it didn't broadcast any light downward directly in front of the bike. Something in the bulb and reflector design made the beam very bright way out front, but cast a shadow up close. Running fast through the dunes or on a fire road was great because you didn't out ride your lights. But on low speed climbs or descents on rocky or bouldery trails, I had to remember the obstacles that were 20 feet in front of me and hope I was on the correct line by the time the front tire was near said rock/rut/turn because by that time, I couldn't see them. I have since ridden a few friends bikes with LED lamps and find they still have the same issue. Don't get me wrong, I love how bright they are, but stock light/lens combo offers a better flood of light directly in front of the bike, with the only shadow being cast by the fender. On your video, you can see that the light from the DOT version shows a halo of light where the center of the beam is focused, about 50-70 feet in front of you, and there is a shadow about 10 feet ahead. If the beam were tipped up, you would get longer vision at speed, but the shadow up close gets worse. I know, it seems petty in regards to a bike as small and slow as the Tdub, but it's something I've always noticed on the LED systems. Notice how much light is flooded around the bike from the stock lamp... it is more helpful than we give it credit for, not just when riding, but for trail repairs or even setting up camp. I suppose some pods or an LED bar could supplement the LED main light, and I am likely asking too much from one system. Great videos though! They are a great how-to resource when I need confirmation that I am fixing something correctly.
I think a lot of the lighting contrast and detail is due to the different spectrum from the stock incandescent bulb as compared to the pure white LED, I prefer the warmer stock tone, easier on the eyes and does show greater definition and contrast.
Great video Tdubs kid! I was wondering if your still taking requests for videos...if you are I would love to see one on Fork boot replacements. Thanks for all you do 👍🏻
It definitely would be sick can't wait for some warmer weather I'm going to head out west on mine. You got me sold on the headlight though what a difference.
I’m sure you’ve been asked this before ad nauseum but do you envision Yamaha at any point upgrading the TW with EFI, water cooling and larger cc’s? Retiring from 32 years in the Fire Service as a FF/EMT-P and can’t decide between the TW and Polaris 4 wheeler. Thx in advance for any insight....
the only thing I could really see them doing is adding efi and maybe an oil cooler like the van van, but you never know for sure. hope you make the right choice, very different machines. no problem
Hey thanks for watching! Its been raining a lot here too. I like it a lot better than the original one. I haven’t been riding as much this winter waiting for summer
No. I'd prefer another DOT approved lamp that was not LED. I'd prefer the headlight that came with my 1987 TW-200. That type gave me more than 30 thousand TW-200 miles.
new has the front disc brake which is nice. old ones are still good though. a long time ago you could get a newer used one with 500 miles for 2500 bucks
Small chanel ho does top qualiti vidios like the greatest chanels, plus really handy and easy to understend content. By the way I would like to ask for the name and brand of the half mitens glove thath you wear at the vidio, they look good quality, they well be really helpful to me in my dayly 15 h working as a courrier with motocicle. Really apreciate and venefit for the helpful vidio bro
@@TDubsKid I have a lot of experience on street bikes. However, I’ve tried learning dirt and due to my size, it’s been a little bit of a battle. I’m comfortable riding with one foot, since that’s I how ride my R1… I just haven’t had any luck on dirt. That’s why I’m getting the TW due to the fat size tires. I’m hoping that will help me get a better hang of riding off-road. So, basically just seat time and comfortability? Also, thanks for the reply.
The blinker was so intimidated by the headlight, that it died in shock.
Hahaha indeed 😂

hey thanks! haha too many times to count. thanks for watching
Nice to see ya back again! Top!
Thanks! Glad to be back the next one shouldn’t take as long.
I should say stock light looks to work ok too =)
for sure! it's not bad, just if you want to run extra stuff like heated grips, best to go to led
Love that you're still making videos!
thanks, More to come!

Oh nice! I like all bikes, thanks, that means a lot. Even being able to do this full time would be cool so I could make more video. Even If I didn’t make much
Hey T,
I loved the intro. It reminded me of the voice on the Abe’s video game series. Because of you I bought the JNS headlight for a Xr650l. I am putting it on my Xr650r. I would like to see the difference in the light patterns of their different lights. Have fun and keep up the great videos. Tony
hi, glad you enjoyed it! haha. oh nice. let me know how it is. thanks ride safe
Helped keep my JNS headlight looking perfect 1000s of miles later.
thanks! oh neat good idea.
Very awesome video as always man . I got the original JNS and I don't like the high beam as well . I think mine has a bad seal too. There is dust on the inside of the headlight itself
hey thank you!, yeah the original one is not the best, darn
hey T.dubs kid .. i'm just busy catching up on your videos and i just gotta say this 1 was verry nice .... yor tw is kitted out really well .. i'll always have a soft spot for the T DUBS cause i learnt to ride on my dad's T.W ... i recently went home on leave and saw what a poor condition my dad's bike was in the clutch is taking really low too ... it sad to see.i wish i could do up our old 95 T.DUB with all the nice parts u have on your bike , but damn i just don't have the budget or the time to do so right now .. maby i'll make a walk around video of the bike i learnt to ride on one of these days ....keep up the great work. i love your videos .
Could be worth a shot ya never know.
hey ill give it a try, you never know. thanks
I'd go with the DOT myself...having a wider arc of illumination _might_ give you enough warning when a deer (or any other big critter) thinks *now* is a good time to cross the road / trail. 😉
A good set of AUX lights should give you a nice near ground light patch (making up for the DOT's shortcomings in that category).
same here, yeah those deer can really pop out of nowhere. so true
A cheap and effective headlight upgrade is to use a Sylvania Silver Star H-4 bulb that you can usually find at WalMart. The light is much brighter than stock and they have a fairly long service life. They are a great upgrade for anything that uses an H-4 bulb.
I'm sure those are better than stock! I like LED because I can free up wattage for other stuff
You did a great job 👍 this was not as easy as people would think 😂 Maybe you can get an idea for some kind of headlight shield one day.
hey thanks! yeah this vid took me a while to make haha. a few good ideas people gave in the comments for a headlight shield.
i liked the original and the halogen color is so much better
much warmer for sure. depends on what you like.
Did your high beam inside the JNS wiggle around mine seems to move. Watched all your videos. Been upgrading my tw with the help of your videos. Keep up the great work!!
Mine was nice and tight. I would tank a close look to see what can be done. Glad the videos have been helpful! Thanks
I miss the faces on the rocks tho...🧐
You inspired me to pick up a fresh T Dub....👌🏽
Yamaha Owes you some “In Store Credit”....👍🏽🇯🇵🇺🇸
Hey thank you, you didnt see mr rock? He was in there
Glad to hear!
Haha I wish maybe they could give me a tenre 700
Awesome! I have not wanted to buy the jns because the high beam was not impressive, this new one just might find its way on my tw, even though i dont ride at night...
thanks! yeah the high beam on that first light was not great at all. the new one is so much better. haha nice
@@TDubsKid just installed the light, its not dark yet but I am very happy with the looks of it!
Hey I would love too but probably will be a while, got a ton of other stuff I gotta finish up. Glad to hear! Thanks for watching
The stock light looked fine the new DOT light was better then the non DOT but the stock light seemed to work well.
yeah the stock light is really not bad, it just consumes so much power. if you want to add heated grips LED is the way to go
Another great video T'D'Kid!
Not sure when LED light makers will realize that 6000k light sucks.
yeah it's just personal preference. wish there were different options
I also like the "eagle wing" patterns at the sides of the stock light.
yeah the stock light is not bad at all. even better with a cyclops bulb but will be as warm colored as the stock halogen
I liked the DOT a lot. I would like to see the DOT compared to the Cyclops h4 bulb. I'm a big fan of replacing OEM halogen bulbs with LED ones.
yeah man it's not bad, that cyclops bulb is really great too. can't wait to try the new ultra cyclops h4 it's going to be great. me too, i'm replacing bulbs on my 4runner with led ones. leds have gotten so cheap and good
I'm an old guy and old rider, but I recently bought a couple Tw200s for my family to share.
Stock looks the best, but draws a lot of power, I'm also curious about the new cyclops, I don't like the chaotic pattern of the led lights
so true. I think the cyclops is the best of both worlds and that's going off the old one I had so long ago
I would love to see that comparison between cheap Chinese brand bulbs and the JNS
I will for sure include one in the epic Headlight shootout video!
Great video Tdubs kid! I was wondering if your still taking requests for videos...if you are I would love to see one on Fork boot replacements. Thanks for all you do 👍🏻
hey thank you! I'm actually planning on doing a video on that before long haha. mine are so ripped up. your welcome, thanks for watching
@@TDubsKid nice! I’m excited. I ordered some new ones off procycle but still waiting for them to arrive. I look forward for the next video :)
Dang now you have extra power for some heated grips 🤓
True that! My fingers are cold!
You should do a cross country moto camping all the way to the east coast, camping in the wilderness along the way.
that would be rad! I will need many memory cards
Thx in advance for any insight....
the only thing I could really see them doing is adding efi and maybe an oil cooler like the van van, but you never know for sure. hope you make the right choice, very different machines. no problem
Binge watched a few of your videos yesterday while it was storming. I went ahead and ordered the new light. Are you still liking it 3 months later?
Hey thanks for watching! Its been raining a lot here too. I like it a lot better than the original one. I haven’t been riding as much this winter waiting for summer
you should get the new morimoto headlight that jns engineering has, it is the best light made so far.
Ill have to check that out, thanks
@@TDubsKid I would love to see a comparison between it and the one you have now.
For sure
Is this still your favorite replacement light? Since the videos a couple years old? Thank you in advance.
yeah so far, the cyclops h4 bulb in the factory housing is probably my favorite so far
Does this light system work with my 1987 tw200? If not would you recommend a lighting sytem for my 1987? Thanks! More power…
It should be fine, its low wattage so shouldn’t hurt the electrical system on the 87
Now that’s a Sasquatch hunting headlight
And no more swerving for deer right befor the whack
hahaha, yeah has a lot of light to the sides
do you have a link for the replacement light only?

No. I'd prefer another DOT approved lamp that was not LED.
I'd prefer the headlight that came with my 1987 TW-200.
That type gave me more than 30 thousand TW-200 miles.
yeah whatever you like the best, I would go with that
What's your thoughts on new vs old tw. Think its worth getting a new one for 2-3k more?
new has the front disc brake which is nice. old ones are still good though. a long time ago you could get a newer used one with 500 miles for 2500 bucks
@@TDubsKid Yea. My first one was cheap! Now you'll pay 3500 for a 1992 here in Canada or 5500 for a new one +++
Is this a newer one
The video is new and the dot jns light is newer but has been out for a while
Can you compare the JNS DOT light to their Morimoto DOT headlight? I'm thinking the Morimoto might be even better.
maybe ill have to get one to compare

Hey thank you so much! I just got those gloves at Walmart, they are pretty nice but were cheap
I’m a 4’9.5” female that is going to pick up a TW tmrw. Any advice/suggestions you could give someone my size specifically catered to this bike?
hmmm maybe just take it slow and easy at first. learn balance the bike with 1 foot on the ground
