Good info, JM. Thanks
I liked the video. I put magnets tail lights with zip ties. Also took all hooks off net. Put net on. Re hooked. Works like a champ from Mn to Az. Thanks for idea
Good video.. I have the curt lights on my bike rack . Works nice. Thanks for the cover recommendation
Nice setup you got there 👊🏽
Thanks, Jeremiah. Watching now.
Good job ! Gave me something to think about.
Thank you for the review. As always very thorough and well done.
Thank you!
Thxs J, I bought one for Xmas because of yr awesome videos.. can’t wait to switch out the handle bar. BIG thanks!
My pleasure! Enjoy!
Great video
I purchased them both today 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I purchased the Obsidian non transport version. We carry our two Lectric XPs folded in the back of our Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. We fulltime in our motorhome and use the cover on the bikes when they are parked next to the motorhome at a campground. I thought about getting a rack but your video showed the difficulties of license plate and lights with the bikes covered on the back rack. The non transport version has the same features and I like the built in strap and cords to keep the cover on in windy conditions. In rain it keeps the bikes dry. Once out of the storage bag the first time I couldn’t get the cover back in the storage bag. It has to be folded back tight.
Thanks for the info. The transportation Cover it’s supposed to be made with a ripstop material and help with tearing in the wind.
Thanks for another great video!
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Great Video!
Nice cover. Nice review
Thanks again for another CZcams video. We have two XP bikes too, the bike carrier and the Obsidian XL bicycle cover (the last two items we bought through your vendor-link). I like your honesty and showing your mistakes when things don’t go right (I do this all the time but I don’t have a camera watching me). Also, we have the bungee net with the hooks. I spray-painted the corner hooks a contrasting color to aid in the placement & hook sorting. It might look like a rat’s nest, but once a hook is in place, the rest will unstring one at a time.
Thank you.
Nice and compact
Thanks for the tips. I bought a set of lights from Harbor Freight...$35. with magnets on the bottoms to mount them to your car roof. They come with a flat 4 connector plug. They work great. I have the same rack and bikes that you have. I bought the Pro Tool Travel bike cover.
Is the cover from Pro Tool a transportation cover or just a standard cover?
Excellent video on bike cover and netting
Thank you! I appreciate that!
You have given me a lot of good advice on buying a ebike and I am looking at getting lectric ebike the step through model is the 1 I am looking at buying
It’s an awesome bike! We love ours!
Nice 👍🏾 thank you 😊
You’re welcome!
Hummmm good point about brake lights. I’ll need to make sure they are visible with my gladiator. No issues when not covered. Problem will be covered
Nice! Can you make a video on what screws and bolts to tighten right out of the box? I heard that the shipping loosens the screws and bolts. Mine is coming in a few days and wanted to get a proper insight from you. No one in youtube has any videos on it. They mostly unbox it and skip to the ride.
I have started removing the batteries as well as the seatposts before loading, saves about 15 lbs. on the rack as well as my back. I also have found grill covers to be better made than bike covers.
I usually remove mine as well. I thought of trying a grill cover but figured I would give this actual transportation cover a shot first because of the warranty.
Hey Jeremiah, I wonder for any ken Anyway thanks for the video
Wow looks a right pain. Tow bar hitch is the way to go. By the time you’ve done all that it’s time to come home again!
lane passing on the highway would be a nightmare...now you need mirror extenders...lol
Will I be able to run 14 mm chain thur those holes you mentioned
I've just got my Fortis e-bike delivered, it not as well optioned as the Lectric, it is PA only, is 250w, no walk mode or throttle, it is $899 AU dollars and I have 2 different trailers to tow behind it
Putting a bike on the back of your car is a great way to get out of paying tolls.
😂
You can't see the car lights with the cover, how often are you stopped? I know the RV will not have that issue
Thanks, Jeremiah, I might have to make a long trip and this video came out just in time!
I have the same two Lectric bikes, I just fold mine and put them in back of my SUV. All I need is my 4"10 80 pound wife to help me just a little two save my back, Its no problem with her help
Put licence plate on back of roof box
How does it perform in the rain?
Try you lights on the box on your roof? Keith Kindle
Problem I see is your vehicle lights are not visible at all and your Curt lights would not be visible either. I put the Curt lights on my rack lower bar and that cover would cover them completely! Thoughts?
Def gonna need turn signals and brake lights....gonna create some confusion for other motorist without them.
Great video. Might have a solution to your light and license plate issue. How about adding a spare tire hitch mount to the back of your hitch. Then mount your lights and license plate on that. A bit price but might work. Cheaper than buying a trailer.
Thanks for the tip I’ve been thinking about adding something back there and the rack I have is actually a 4 bike rack so I can put the other piece on for the other two bikes and attach the License plate and lights to that but then the rack is huge. I’m still working on it though but I do appreciate the recommendation.
@@JeremiahMcintosh I agree, I will be big but I imagine not as long as having the extra 2 bikes added. Was thinking adding the spare hitch and attaching the license plate and lights to it instead of a tire would be as long. And lighter then the 2 bike attachment. I was thinking on the Draw tight 6715 mount.
You can not see the car at all. Makes you wander if a small trailer would be better, or a cargo extender?
Hey, did you do any reviews years ago on gimbal mounts. You look and sound familiar.
Yeah.
Jeremiah: thanks for this video. Please do a video on how to clean ebike. I am afraid to use to much water on it.
Thanks Kathy. I just use something like a mist and wipe spray it on and wipe it off.
hi can you use a good solar panel to give some power to your ebike if it ran out in country lanes ??? regards alan from england
I’m not really sure to be honest.
Jeremiah, we have a question and would appreciate your input on it. It is about winter storage. We live in Michigan where it gets below zero. We have taken out the batteries and storing them in a warm basement. But, is it okay, in your opinion, to store the bikes in an enclosed trailer that is not heated? Will there be any damage to dash (LED readout) in the trailer? We did contact the company and are not convinced with their answer. Sorry Lectric. Living in AZ, do they realize how cold it gets in Michigan for days! Would value your opinion. And we do enjoy watching your videos! Thank You.
i keep mine without the battery in the shed and i live in Canada so we get pretty cold. Never an issue with the LED display...so long as it's kept dry, you'll be ok
Thanks for the great information. I didn’t see the link to the tail lights kit you used. Can you post it for me? Thanks
Thank you for letting me know. The link for the lights are now on there. Let me know if you find it.
@@JeremiahMcintosh Thanks got it and purchased. Thanks for quick reply.
No problem glad to help!
Nice cover, my question is:
Isn't it illegal to hide the license plate ?
I need really to cover my bike, because here in quebec winter time all the slush, dirt and spreden sel on the roads is making my fatbike very dirty during the transportation.
Yes it is illegal that’s what I was saying toward the end of the video where I haven’t come up with a solution for remounting the license plate yet.
Do you have a link for the blue strips that you have on the wheels?
Yes They are in the description of this video. Thanks czcams.com/video/63o3vQeeDqU/video.html
Hey quick question
Is there a warranty on the bike when you get it
Because the wind blew my bike over at the gas station and shattered my screen
Yes there is a 1 year warranty however I’m not sure if that will be covered. Just give them a call.
My rear tire just got a flat yesterday:(
That XL cover appeared to be rather baggy. Do you think a single bike (L) cover might fit? Thanks for another informative video!
Hmm I’m not sure but once you pull the strings tight I was surprised how well it tightens up.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I ask about the cover as I just ordered two Lectric bikes that I intend to transport on the back of my 5th-wheel RV for months at a time, rain or shine. A tight fitting cover will be really important and it needs to be quick to get on and off so that bungee netting is a no-go. Is it possible to rotate or drop the handle bars to reduce the width such that the single cover would have a better chance of fitting?
Yes you could drop the handlebars but still cannot be 100% the single cover will fit without having it. I’m sure it depends on your bike rack as well if the bikes are spaced the same distance apart or closer than mine.
With that much flexing and movement when you’re going down the road I would stop every once in a while and look at The hitch where it goes into the receiver for excessive ware marks. A friend of mine had movement like that going down the highway and lost their whole bike rack with four bikes. That’s all he had left was a piece of square tubing in the hitch.
Oh wow Thank You for the tip. I do check it regularly.
Its against the law to cover the license plate and brake lites.
I can’t see my license plate with the bike rack loaded without a cover.
Utah you don’t need a plate for a single axle trailer which will cover the license plate.
Your bike rack is 60lb max-per bike. The Lectric 2.0 is 65lb. Is this Ok to ignore?
If you’re too worried just take the battery out and you’ll be under 60 lbs.
I bought a cover that has clear ends so your lights shine through, no brainer to me.
Where did you find a cover with clear ends to show your tail lights? I’m interested in getting one too.
@@jimclarkson8813 Amazon, just type in bike cover with visible tail lights or something like that.
you would have been better off going for a 3 bike cover because in a couple of years or so your child will be older and he might want a fat tire ebike then you could cover all 3 bikes, just a suggestion?.
True but I would have to get a new car lol. I wouldn’t trust that much weight on a crv hitch! Also I purchased this one about a week before they came out with the 3 bike version 🤷♂️
Is that a Yakima bike rack ?
No it is the overdrive. Here is my video on it if you would like to check it out and there is a link for it in the video description. czcams.com/video/HdIFijjhZSg/video.html
@@JeremiahMcintosh thanks for the info....
I dont think that is legal since you are covering license plate #
I bought one of these and one trip and it just shredded ripped all over the place
Thanks for the update Did you purchase the transportation one or the stationary cover? This is the transportation cover that I recommend. I would reach out to team obsidian it carries a 2-year warranty. I haven’t had any problems with mine yet but haven’t used it a whole lot.
@@JeremiahMcintosh Yes they’re going to replace it but my concern is that it’s going to happen again and I put netting on it just like you did and I put two lights in between the netting the strap that goes underneath the clips it together just shredded holes in it I couldn’t believe it yes I want a long ways with it but the netting held it pretty tight so I’m gonna try it again they are going to return it so I can get a new one
@@JeremiahMcintosh I’m thinking if I can find smaller netting maybe euro hold it tighter the cover is really cool I like it but it sure didn’t last long
Sorry it didn’t work out for you! So the strap underneath came out of the cover? Did you register for the extended warranty as well?
@@JeremiahMcintosh yes
Looks very shaky and you can't even see your car with the covers on - just saying.
Jeremiah PLEASE STOP POST YOUR VIDEO , COST ME ALOT MONEY LATERLY.. ;)
🤷♂️😂
Over EIGHT minutes of monkey chatter before you FINALLY get around to starting the test. The test for the cover pretty much ends at minute 13 as well. So you took over 16 minutes to produce a 5 minute video.
BTW, it is illegal to attach a license plate to anything but the vehicle it's issued for. At least in California. That includes installing the plate on cargo of the vehicle. If the cargo blocks the plate, that's fine and is not illegal. So, bad advice.
Lights must be visible, so adding additional lighting is a good idea. However, that's not what this video was about and since you never really added lights, only showed a product that was defective right out of the box, that added nothing to this video. That should be a video all on it's own. I bought mag mount lights an attached them to the roof of the car. They also can attach to the bottom of the rack and hang below the bike cover. Just a suggestion.
The netting was a near-fail as well with the hooks and the size. This information was helpful on what NOT to get in a truck bed netting so is useful. All in all, you probably should condense this video down a lot and keep it to just what the title suggests; an ebike transportation cover.
Lastly, the video going down the road was useful, although there was some really bad break-up during that part.
So, slow down and take a breath once in a while. Seems you rush through your dialog and that makes it hard to understand. Keep the video on topic and save your viewers several minutes of unnecessary chatter.
i'm guessing you're fun at parties
Wow…what a complainer skippy. I very much appreciated the informative chatter. Unbelievable.
