    Great video; just ordered one of these racks. I am curious about the center vertical bar. It seems it would be much easier to load the first bike with the vertical bar down rather than dodging it? Is that possible? I am just asking for myself in hopes to avoid hurting my back lifting the whole bike while also avoiding that vertical bar.

    • @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.
      @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi 10Nacious1. I tried with the vertical bar down, but the securing arm gets in the way. If you remove both locking mechanisms, you may be able to do it that way. Thanks for the observation.

    Thanks for the information. Do you think this rack is strong enough for a motor home? A lot of racks even with non electric bikes are not recommended to be used on an RV. Where did you buy the rack and how much was it?

    • @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.
      @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.  Před 4 lety +1

      I purchased the bike rack on Amazon for approximately $300. It may have increased in price since I purchased mine. I would recommend checking the weight limit specifications on your RV to see if it can handle this bike rack. Thanks for your input.

  • @KevinCoop1
    @KevinCoop1 Před 3 lety

    Just a thought. I saw where some police officers give tickets for someone putting something in a hitch that impedes the view of the license plate. If you make a bracket and move the plate to be visible, then you also need to have a light on it. A different law. Just thought I would mention it.

    • @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.
      @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.  Před 3 lety

      Hi Blake Berlin. I cover each bike with it's own bike cover and secure it with bungee cords. This has worked fine for me even with heavy rains. (In very bad weather, I've also covered the screen with a zip lock bag and rubber bands for added protection from moisture.)

I'm trying to decide which vehicle to add the 2 inch receiver, F150 or Subaru Outback, so I'm gonna go with the Outback since cargo in the back of the pickup is unreachable unless it's around the edges.Looks like the Outback tailgate will have no problem opening with the bikes tilted.

    I believe this rack is rated for two 60 pound bikes. I also have two Lectrics and the manufacturer says they weigh 63 pounds each. That's without any accessories. I want a rack rated for two 70 pound bikes. The consequences of having a rack fail is terrifying.

    • @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.
      @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.  Před 3 lety

      Hi James. When I travel on anything other than local rides with my bike rack, It's very easy to remove the 2 seats and the 2 batteries and then I'm below the weight. The seats are close to 3 lbs. each and the batteries are approx. 7 lbs. each. Removing both for each bike lightens the load by approx. 20 lbs. Please check the weight of your seats and batteries to be positively sure.

    All these videos showing e bike racks are placed on pickup truck hitches. Why not just put the bikes in the bed of the pickup.

    • @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.
      @vespaenthusiaststimlisah.  Před 2 lety +1

      I currently have a tonneau cover on my F150. The E-bikes would need to be placed in sideways to fit and could possibly get damaged. The bike rack is actually quite easy and keeps the bikes from getting scratched when used properly.

      @@vespaenthusiaststimlisah. Your bikes fold. I've seen a ton of people get big plastic tubs, and put the folded bikes in the tubs/then into the vehicle. I have 'standard' bikes. I have installed fork mounts along the side of my bedrails. So my bikes sit in the bed. Super protected, and they don't slide around. AND I don't bash my shins on the rear rack...
