I loved how Goldie had major development and stuck around this time around instead of her normal disappearing act.
The glance to Louie _made_ that scene. Rough edges or not the maternal instinct is there.
And the final kiss like FINALLY
When Scrooge goes Youth is wasted on the young, I have to remember the second part wisdom is wasted on the old.
So with his birthday apparently being July 8, 1867, Scrooge is exactly one week younger than Canada.
I liked how they implied that Huey don't put all the work into schedules because he likes it. He does it because everyone found an arbitrary reason to leave him in charge and he became like that to prevent things going awry, fearing being the one held accountable for all three's actions. In the halloween episode it was pretty clear that he made his plans specifically to avoid bad things happening (them loosing all the candy they would have gathered). I can imagine that the more he plans, the more people expect him to plan, the more he fears people will blame him when an unforeseen problem arises and I'm now feeling really sorry for this little redhatted duck
I think the bro also suffers from severe anxiety as seen in the first episode of season 2
I really hope they explore that throughout the rest of the season.
Given That Huey was stated to the be focus for this season....
@@MarcusDandridgeDee_Kae Yeah; Louie had HIS Character arc in Season 2; and Dewey had HIS Character arc for Season 1. . . the Only Triplet left to have a Character Arc for is Huey, and So Far he's getting it in Season 3 for the most part!
@@New3DSLuigi364 yeah but in seasoon 3, he doesnt have any arc or character development, its just a few episodes that include him as the main focus
I gotta say, having Ponce De Leon be a lion was pretty smart and man his death was actually creepy. I also wasn't expecting John D. Rockerduck to return to the series, but I'm glad he's back. And I do like how gradually the relationship between Scrooge and Goldie has been developed over these 3 Seasons.
When I saw his death my brain was like “your brain has crashed” as I had to swallow the fact that we saw in animated form how mother Gothel died and turned to dust.
Did you mean the ending of season 2?😅
@Coconut Pal Is that what we're calling it now, "Scroldie"? I don't like it. But I suppose it's better than Grooge.
@@Rognik Not really any good combinations of the first names. Could go with the last names I suppose, something like McGilt or something isn't 100% terrible as a portmanteau couple name.

Bravo, Seaniccus, bravo.
Yes, I'm so interested excited for the episode and review.
@@heidichrist4000 Me too.
👏👏👏👏
yeah i still need to review the halloween episode
My counter to "youth is wasted on the young" has always been "wisdom is wasted on the old."
When you're old, you have experience, but you don't have the energy you once did.
When you're young, you've got boundless energy, but a lack of experience to use it properly.
Yeah that’s true but depending on the age, you can show your wisdom and give sage advice.
All the more reason for the young and the old to work together, rather than be at odds with each other.
Just think of how many have people died at this hotel.
geardog24 the death count would have to pass like ten thousand right
@@GreenEyedPsycho The count is probably a lot more than that if you take into account the era the manager came from
This episode was really well made. But that Ponce De Leon death? Well animated, and freaking traumatizing
Him aging that fast was terrifying looking
Y'know When I First Saw It I Couldn't Sleep That Night
Webby: I'm not old, I just had a bad day.
LOL
The design of Ponce De Lion is like a mix between Scar from The Lion King and Prince John from Robin Hood.
I personally think huey is very overshadowed, sure this is his season but it's only barely focused on him so this was a great episode. As seen in season 2 episode 1 huey falls apart when his stitches fall out, and I don't think they hone in on this plot point enough, I think out of the three he feels the most responsible for everything that happens and suffers from severe anxiety because of this
What I liked about this episode is the continunity between Goldie and Louie.
Before she took off once again, she look back at the trapped boys and focus on Louie looking bumped out. She choose to recuse everyone either as payback to Louie for saving her from the pycho rich kid from the last season or just genuine cared for him to be selfless for once!
Before Louie saved Goldie in that ep, she had saved him from getting hit by Boyd
I’m practically in love with young Scrooge and Goldie. I’m glad that their relationship has officially “tied together”. I loved their flirting with arguments, especially Goldie messing with him, and their blushing. Also old webby was one of my favorite things, like her “Curse Me Kilts!” Also, I liked Ponce De Lion, that was incredibly smart, and the pool of aging was so cool, but really creepy! Even as a 13 year old, I love DuckTales, one of my favorite obsessions ever. Also, I might have to steal that gizmo duck funko from your background!
I'm 13 too but I'm still obsessed with ducktales...is this normal???

Pop trivia: In Italy, where Donald has two superhero personas, the Duck Avanger/Paperinik and PK, there is one comics in which one of Duck Avanger "frenemies", the Collector, states that apparently Scrooge will have AT LEAST 4 centuries of history ("You're a big icon in the 22nd century. And in the 21st. And in the 20th. And in the..." "I know how old I am, thanks.").
Young Scrooge and young Goldie are very cute together, this episode never fails to make me smile.
Well Scrooge isn't the oldest duck in the world. We've seen his parents.
This is a good point and I done messed up
His parents are immortal too
It's still a good video
Which is where the timeline change happened. I suspect that during the events of New Laird of Castle McDuck, Scrooge found a way to accidentally grant his parents immortality. But the caveat to that was that the castle disappeared and only reappeared every five years. Which would alter the timeline fairly dramatically. It also raises the question of what, if anything, happened with Soapy Slick. Slick mocking Scrooge with the news of his mother's death is what motivated Scrooge to unleash the full McDuck + Irish rage on that river boat.
True
This means Scrooge is at least 153 years old.
yup.
So scrooges aged up 30 years like the show.
Loiue is quickly becoming my favorite of the brothers. I'm also glad Huey finally gave Dewey a taste of his own medicine.
I mean... wasn't there a flashback episode where it says that Scrooge and Goldie were both frozen for several years? And then the constant dealings with supernatural things and beings?
I was impressed they left in a horrific death scene, let Goldie have character progression that felt natural, and tied the split narrative of the adventure and the boys age squabble up so nicely.
I had one major issue with this episode, they were following a river to its source, but they were following it downstream rather than upstream!
Scrooge and Goldie, Romantic rivals, not rivals in romance, rivals who have romantic moments.
Edit: "Supernaturally oldest is still oldest!" He's so desperate, and it's great.
I think this was the best episode yet (if not in season 3)
I agree!
I loved it
I like seeing Scrooge and Goldie flirting as teenagers.
So he's not gonna talk about how Scrooge and Goldie kissed?
Scroodge in most episodes: Active and still moves lile he's young
Scroodge in episodes about age: *Old body problems* Bonjur
Ayy Sean finally caught up to the DuckTales backlog!
So far, this is one my favorite episodes of Season 3. The mystery that plays throughout the episode, the interactions between my favorite characters (Huey, Dewey and Louie), the sword fight in the climax and it's the first episode where I actually cared about Scrooge and Goldie's relationship. It actually went somewhere instead of Scrooge saying he likes Goldie and Goldie saying she likes Scrooge only to steal his money and leave. And, that brief callback to "Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake!" where Goldie looks at an entrapped Louie and starts feeling guilty is the cherry on top. Also, has anyone noticed how many callbacks to "Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake!" there have been this season?
i think i like this episode for what they do with the mythos of The Fountain of Youth. i thought it was weird there was just suddenly old folks growing in numbers and then when they find out why: i made the old myth cooler. what that drains youth and gives it away? that's pretty cool.
Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides did a similar thing to the old myth. I think it's pretty cool
Tomorrow is Darkwing Duck time!!!
I think the more appropriate phrase would be, "Let's get dangerous!"
Woooo
Wait it’s tomorrow? LETS GOOOOOO!!!!
This has been supposed to be Huey's season, but where Dewey and Louie's arcs were relatively solo, Huey seems to be getting his stories by having others act as foils to him. They don't seem to be able to find ways to have him lead stories without reacting to someone else.
I feel this may be due to Huey's more responsible nature. Dewey and Louie also shared screentime for their development, but because they are both quite chaos orientated, they are often more capable of CAUSING the problem they learn and grow from, or at least, contributing to it. (eg: Harp-B-Gone.)
Huey, meanwhile, is often shown to be cautious and plan heavy. His issues often seem to lie more in his relationships with others, and his confidence in himself. He isn't going to start a zany scheme, but he does need to come out of his shell a bit.
@@keirgomcginlay2044 He did cause a zombie apocalypse before Donald got stranded on the moon.
@@Dragon_Lair Please refresh my memory.
@@keirgomcginlay2044 In the episode “The Golden Spear” in season 2, the episode was split between Donald and Della. Della was desperately trying to fix the Spear and build a friendship with Penumbra and Donald was desperately trying to relax because he was molting from stress.
Hewey and Webby borrowed his VCR to play a cursed tape they knew could be bad but wanted to see what would happen and Donald had to fight off a zombie apocalypse with a chainsaw as a result.
I love this ep! the massage of "it's never to late to have a fresh start" is something many people should learn. it was amazing how even trough they gave up on been young, they still decided to change and have a fresh start.
Your going to tie into “Let’s Get Dangerous!” aren’t you?
U actually did it.
Now then,..."Lets Get Dangerous"
This is one of my most favorite episodes this season so far. It was great seeing more of Scrooge and Goldie's relationship and how they originally viewed each other in a happier light. Plus, I really admired how after she planned to steal a bottle of the fountain's water, she changed her mind after seeing Louie in danger. It's a nice callback to their own adventure last season.
The twist on this Fountain of Youth was also very clever and intense, with a frightening death for Ponce de Leon. As for Rockerduck, I was glad to see him return here. Although, I can kind of see your point in how he could've been taken out of this episode, unless he and Jeeves just appeared near the end to secretly steal some of the Youth water and maybe brought it over to FOWL.
This was my favorite episode in the season thus far. Its perfect as far as adventure and character development goes, plus a little Scrooge/Goldie ship action on the side.
Goldie Gilt? It's O'Gilt
Somehow, I thought Ponce DeLion was going to be that version of El Capitan from the original series. Then I remembered he was some dog/rat thing. And he kinda looked like an evil version of Talespin's Wildcat. Also, it's always nice to be reminded that Goldie and Scrooge do care about each other. The rivalry frustrates, yet intrigues Scrooge. Someone just as devious as he is, not just someone who's out to get him, but rather someone who keeps him on his webbed toes. This episode emphasized how much they do actually love each other, not only as younger versions of themselves, but how Goldie sacrificed herself to rescue Scrooge, rather than just take what she needed and leaving him to fend for himself.
This episode as well as it’s climax has given me vibes to the Futurama episode “Teenage Mutant Leelas Hurdles”.
Michael McJunkin I was just coming here to say that episode of Futurama with the Fountain of Aging. Yes! 👍
@@79silentg yeah I could’ve said that incase no one understood.
Ponce we Lion's death was legit one of the most macabre things I've seen in in a mainstream weekly kids show.
Yeah if I saw that as a young kid it would have been very traumatic. I'm surprised that made it into the show.
@@79silentg yeah no. I’m NOT surprised because this is normal 🤣 I’m surprised that YOU’RE even surprised by THIS
I called most of the episode just by looking at the image of Ponce de León (of course he had to be an actual lion) but still pretty enjoyable
OMG SEANICCUS IS CAUGHT UP
It was a really fun episode. The Scrooge/Goldie stuff was great. I'm glad that, for once, she did the right thing without just slipping off.
“What he might do in the season finale”
“If only that was the season finale and not the series finale”
🥺
I feel bad for Jeeves, I feel like he got done dirty by both the show and John rocker duck
Casting Nestor Carbonell as Ponce de Leon was a real stroke of genius as it's pretty much a combination of his two best known roles: someone made immortal by magic water (Lost) and running a hotel with a dark secret (Bates Motel).
I'm also pretty sure young Scrooge's hair is supposed to look like the Tenth Doctor's, which is a great touch.
I like the end where the story of Scrooge and goldy become what they suppose to be
Scrooge has been partaking in some occult things to extend his life that much.
We finally got a Scroldie kiss, yesss
Also, I wonder how many kids were traumatized by Ponce De Leon’s death xD
With that uncle pothole joke thrown, I’m surprised (and a little disappointed) that they didn’t make the river muddy.
I really like this episode. Scrooge and Goldie are great. I think one of the small details, but what I loved was the Goldie and Louie unspoken bit since we saw her place Louie's picture in her wallet in that one episode. And I liked that it wasn't just the relationship with Scrooge that helped change her habits of saving herself. I also did enjoy the sibling plot between Huewy and Dewy. However, and I know it was a scheme, but I almost wish it had been Hewy to figure it out as this is meant to be his season and it really feels as of now like everyone is getting the spotlight, but him.
I think they could have done up until the breakfast bit, but then Huewy goes off confused about Dewy's growth spirt and figures it out like Louie did. Or since Louie is important for the Goldie arc, which I love, maybe split it. Like Louie senses something is up, goes up to the room, finds the journal missing (trying to take his big brother's advice on research) and finds Heuwy, who gives a quick recap of the history, and then together they solve the mystery. So cut a few of the Webby bits which while fun didn't add a lot to the overall story. Great job and congrats on finally being caught up with the show :).
1:39 This is the first of the "Missing Mysteries" where it actually felt like a mystery as opposed to just another scavenger hunt.
‘Curse me kilts!’🤣
This was better than in the '87 episode where the fountain only showed their reflections of when they were younger...
I actually forgot Rockerduck was in this episode.
I really liked the balance of the A plot and B plot and how neither felt unimportant to the other- how Goldie and Scrooge get a chance at character development and we get to see them on more amicable terms, Huey, Dewey, and Louie's sibling dynamic and specifically the power struggle between Huey's meticulous planning compared to Dewey's haphazard lack of planning, and we just get some great character moments such as Scrooge showing his morals in not being willing to rob the youth he was disdainful of from their time or Louie showing how he's improved as a character by being the one to figure the mystery out because Huey and Dewey are preoccupied with their fight. And Webby's role in the story, while not very important, is a fun foil to Scrooge and Goldie's newer, younger bravado, and it's just a fun moment when Dewey thinks she's been made older but she just explains it's a bad day, since that's relatable. Just having one of those days, that is, not supernaturally aging and becoming elderly.
Also, I think Rockerduck adds a good sense of feel to the episode, as his appearance is largely irrelevant when Ponce de Leon was already a big enough threat, but for Scrooge and Goldie's end, he added a sense of suspense and danger as he's just lurking in the shadows as they go about their quest. And his purpose was absolutely just to make him younger and more capable for FOWL's machinations, which I think is important enough to have him show up. It makes sense, though, that Rockerduck just leaves when he wins- since focus goes back to the actual main villain of the episode in Ponce de Leon. And man, is Ponce a cool villain- he is a lion, which props for that from the start, since lions are cool. But also, he can go between terrifyingly threatening in a fight to a respectable honest businessman running a hotel. Well, respectable and honest until you go into the pool, then he's a shadowy conspiracy villain, which just makes him that much more interesting. He's a very passive threat until his mystery is being uncovered, and then he takes charge and is a really solid villain.
In general, I loved this episode for the balance of great characters, fun moments, and the mystery and adventure surrounding it all.
NEXT ONE IS “LET’S GET DANGEROUS”!!! YEEEEES
I loved the background sets in this episode. They gave it a comic book/original Disney animated series vibe. I think the introduction this season of new old villians are the set-up for a great finale.
I like your insight on your Duck Tales videos. It's cool hear you talk about show things I didn't notice.
Just a few days ago you were behind the episodes, but I see that you caught up now your in a position to move ahead. Thanks for these reviews, they make my CZcams experience more about analyzing things. Thanks again and sorry for my bad grammar, I haven’t wrote something this long properly in a long time.
Also everyone:
Please don’t act immature over two adults kissing. Kissing is in FICTION. DEAL WITH IT
It’s not inappropriate, if you think it is you are stuck in the past and need to get your head out your butt.
Thank you😅
I agree with this statement
Yeah, I do think people are really obsessing a little too much with that Scroldie kiss scene. I mean, jeez you guys can you calm down a little? I know it's okay to have different opinions on kissing scenes, but come on, it really isn't anything new. Especially when it comes to anything Disney in general.
And that's also why his parents are still alive because they had to produce Donald's mother at such a time that they would still be able to have Della and Donald and have Donald Duck not be ridiculously old
What's weird is that Disney did a short where Donald tricks the boys into thinking he turned into baby after bathing the fountain youth.
I'm 100% certain the rejuvenation of Rockerduck is needed for an upcoming episode. Since he's so old, a device was needed to make him young again, so he can do harm to Scrooge.
I have to admit I guessed part of the solution in the first few minutes. The painting next to the owner of the Hotel was too obvious a clue.
You're putting these out fast!
Man the fact next episode is supposed to be a backdoor pilot got me hyped
I think of Rockerduck's appearance more like the appearance of a BtVS Big Bad in their one-off episodes; might not be doing something important but /setting/ something up rather than being an active part of the plot. For example, Rockerduck's servent/carrier person gets turned into a baby. We will likely see a family develop between the two of them given the show's revolving theme of family, particularly of the non-nuclear variety.
Edited for spelling.
That or Gandra will extract the water Jeeves drank in order for Rockerduck to have a backup power source.
Yeah 🤔 I’m glad he was there given the fountain WAS in the journal
Biggest thing that bugged me, they thought the fountain was feeding into the stream. They were wrong, and they eventually found the ruins of the fountain coincidentally by going the way they were, but they were clearly following the river downstream. If they thought the fountain was feeding the stream they should have been searching in the opposite direction, against the current.
Scrooges age is a paradoxon.
How can he be 150 years old, but Donald the son of his sister is like 40-50.
I wondered this too but we also have to remember that Scrooge's parents are also technically immortal lol
Maybe Scrooge's sisters are just a whole lot younger xD
@@Jezzikinz
Yes maybe. But if this is the case, the Don Rosa timeline would no longer apply, because his sister Hortense is max 10 years younger than him.
@@Samuel-p17 Well the universe has set up multiple ways for this to make sense. Perhaps she is also immortal or also gets into similar scrapes as Scrooge and Goldie
Supernatural stuff on Scrooge but everyone else ages normally
@@pigeon2503 perhaps
7:45 I swear that somehow that sword fight was inspired by Peter Pan; a story about a boy who refuses to grow up.
My only note is that in the old series he probably would have been called Pounce de Leon or Ponce de Loon. Good call making him a lion. I don't think we've ever seen that species in Ducktales.
Look it's simple as hell, but I just can't help but laugh about Ponce de Leon being a Lion. It's just so simple, but it's still a good pun
Scrooge and Goldie remind me of The Doctor and River Song
This episode made me so happy.
In the Darkwing Duck series, there was an episode about the fountain of youth.
Yes yes....
You guys didn't see it or seen the kiss but it was wholesome...
So that mr. Mcduck look like as a teenager. 😀👍
Um excuse me...may I point out that SCROOGE AND GOLDIE KISSED! And it was so well animated and they didn’t have to have them kiss but the creators ship them as much as fans and it makes me happy. 🥰
As a Canadian, Scrooge's birth year is easy to remember.
nice to see you all caught up
"stuck in a timeless demon dimension" also seems to imply he could be even older depending on how time passed in that dimension vs their main dimension
No mention of the fact that they killed a character in this episode.
Nor of the kiss that launched a thousand fan ships.
Aaannndd how does FrankenJeeves stay Frankensteined when turned into a Franken-toddler?
I hated how that happened to Jeeves I hope rocker duck somehow fixes him but probably not
If I’m correct as of 2020 Scrooge is 163 years old, and became like 17 with the fountain.
Congratulations on getting caught up!
Can we talk about the stream for one second? Scrooge and Goldie fell in the river and they came out younger. OBVIOUSLY, they think that the river's source is the Fountain, so they follow the stream... DOWNWARDS TO VALLEY. THIS IS A BIG PLOT HOLE! HOW... HOW THEY HOPE TO FIND THE "FOUNTAIN" IF THEY'RE GETTING FARTHER AND FARTHER FROM THE RIVER SOURCE!?
Same annoyance, they said they were heading to the source of the river then followed it downstream.
Um they followed the stream to the source. How is this a plot hole?
@Balance of The hill THERE'S STILL LOGIC EVEN WITH UNUSUAL THINGS LIKE THAT: LIKE THE NECESSITY TO BREATH IN SPACE OR UNDERWATER, GRAVITY! This is not a BABY show, as you said, it's a "kid" show that adults can enjoy!
@Balance of The hill AND STILL, that's it's not an excuse for characters say "let's go to the source" to then proceeding to to the OPPOSITE!
@@gracekim25 no... they followed the river stream. When you want to find a river's source you follow the river stream o you follow it BACKWARDS? Cause they did the FIRST OPTION.
I think Rockerduck is being set up as the next "Anti-Scrooge", now that Flintheart has kind of faded into the background as he's basking in the adulation of being the 'hero' of Duckburg and Mark Beaks is too... Mark Beaks to be a real adversary to Scrooge in terms of either wealth or shrewdness.
They mention Rockerduck in the haloween epsiode, his house is one of the ones they were planning to visit.
Rockerduck Estates could just refer to a section of Duckburg that is named after him, not necessarily his house.
They hinted at Rocoker ducks involvement was hinted in the synopsis. Though his involvement was to set up he is back and what his plans are. As for his reliance on jeeves it reminds kraang or master blaster. Though many are thinking the child and mando.
2:00, nice touch to make her careful how she stood up from her chair.
You didn't mention "Sweet Duck of Youth" from the original series and how this one compared to it?????
FOR SHAME!!!
Fitting that ponce de leon is a lion.
I knew the lion was Ponce de Leon the minute I saw him
I wasn't really feeling the last couple episodes, but I gotta say I loved this one. There was so much to like about it, character growth, action, moral, etc.
I know the name Rockerduck from the original comics and everything but John D. Rockefeather is such a better pun.
THEY FINALLY KISSED
“So I can restore my VIM and VIGOR”
CUE THE KH2 OST!
Yeah I think rockerduck was in the episode to give him a reason to actually be able to be an antagonist
The Ducktales reboot is finally feeling like Ducktales.
In the first season, the show felt like Gravity Falls with ducks.
While that’s not a bad thing at all, it didn’t feel like pure Ducktales to me.
In the season and third season, the characters have settled into their orignal roles.
Scrooge is the adventurous main lead.
Donald and Launchpad are the comic reliefs.
Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby are the intelligent but mischievous kids.
It’s all coming together. 😎
