Also the shot of Gohan as Super Saiyan 2 with tears flowing up his face then Death Staring Cell is one of the most beautiful scenes in any form of entertainment I have ever seen, even as a 29 year old I still get chills.
I've always loved it. Tears being blown from his face, as his rage, fear, and grief push him into levels of power never seen before. And then, the tears, the fear and grief, burn away, and all that's left is the rage.

No one ever seems to catch it but my favorite joke is the on about filicide. Krillin thinks it means murdering ponies because a female pony is called a filly. So "filly-cide" 🤣

Personally I love the joke that all of us were waiting for when Cell finally called out Piccolo as Gohan's dad. It was nice to see him get some actual acknowledgement for all the work he put in to raising Gohan. ...Even if it didn't quite start out as fatherly as it could have...
Actually a baby horse is called a filly and an adolescent female horse is called a pony. That's why the cast in the show My Little Pony is an all female crew.
@@white0thunderwhite0thunder71 pony is actually a different breed of horse (and is effectively a dwarf version usually staying under 14 hands high), a colt is a young horse, a Foal is male and a Filly is female. MLP is actually not all female but the main cast is because it was originally a show aimed for girls.

This was my favorite episode of DBZA these last episodes have jokes but TFS really payed respect to the show. Android 16 really was the MVP of this arc and that extra context that He was an android based on Gero's own son that joined the red ribbon army but wasn't really a bad guy but he died when Goku destroyed the base as a kid it really helps to tie in Gero's hatred of Goku and why he made all the androids in the first place.
They really went all out with Gohan's transformation. And the english cover of the original song goes perfect with the transformation. Gohan's tears flying away with the power up is crazy
@Haku infinite reread, toriyama confirmed that android 16 was modeled after his son who was alive during the red ribbon army days when goku was a kid in dragon ball.. Goku killed the ENTIRE red ribbon army, and at the time, geros son was in that army and was completely obliterated by Goku, which is why gero made a souless killing machine based after his son that is known as android 16
A part I think almost everybody missed : when Cell says “we both know he never had a soul” it’s a reference to episode 38 (11:20) Android 18 standing over 16,s pod says “ there’s a soulless machine joke there but that’s beneath me” .... well beneath her at that moment was the underground lab where Cell was at lol . That’s how far they went with their hidden jokes lol
I didn't even think about that particular part. Ik cell making the joke kinda was a nod to when 18 said it, but I didn't consider it that cell was in the lab beneath her. That's funny.

So, people have mentioned that the Cell Jrs are named after Cell's various voice actors, but I haven't seen someone point out that one's name is Curtis, which is the real name of Takahata101, his voice actor in this Abridged series.

Since Cell is giving "birth" him saying "you did this to me" is a common joke in tv shows when a woman is giving birth, theyre in so much pain and pressure they yell at their husband that line because pretty much the husband is the reason the woman is going through everything at that moment.

22:00 - might be my fave shot in this whole episode. Cell's face when he realises Gohan has suddenly become absolutely no joke. It's not funny any more and for the first time, faced with this *storm*, Perfect Cell feels a shiver of fear.

16's speech was so amazing because it was beautiful and real at the same time. Oh and btw when Gohan said that he snaps when he gets angry, keep that in mind for part 2. His personality....no I won't spoil that. Just watch it.
God, I love just how much respect and reverence they gave this scene. It was probably one of the most important scenes in the entirety of Dragon Ball Z and they nailed it PERFECTLY

These last 3 episodes are TFS's Swan Song, their Magnum Opus to DBZ and to the 12 years of us fans watching and waiting for them to release new episodes.

funny part is,goten and kid trunks just playfully fight the remaining cell juniors that went into hiding.
@Haku infinite well the cell juniors gohan apparently "killed" did survive and were out hiding or causing problems. even in dragonball z kakarot,which suppose to expand more on the story. vegeta had some and made himself as their boss.
It's honestly amazing that a fan-made parody managed to do this scene better than any of the official dubs.
Favorite moment of this episode is also quite possibly my favorite image from all of anime. The shot of Gohan right after he let’s go, with his power literally burning away his tears till his eyes are clear and he’s ready..
Kaiserneko (lead editor and basically CEO of TFS wanted this moment to have as much weight as they could put on it. They took the song playing there (Day of fate/Spirit vs Spirit) and translated the song into English and hired a singer just to perform this one part. This version of the song did not exist until they created it, just to put the respect on this part that he felt it deserved.
I’d say they nailed it :).
You might not of noticed this but when he transformed everything is going up, his hair and tears are going up showing his transformation to Ascended Saiyan/Super Saiyan 2. This is THE BEST transformation out of any ascension or breakthrough that any character has ever done to this point imo. I still get goosebumps watching this transformation.
This episode had tons of great moments, Goku's plan, Sixteen's speech, Gohan breaking, I fucking loved it the first few times I watched it.

i'm sad that most kids grew up with the american version of this scene lol. When gohan transformed to SSJ2 for the first time it was to this epic song, and team four star translated it!! so awesome

So, fun fact: each part of episode 60 premiered on TFS's twitch channel a week apart. Part one peaked at somewhere around 30k viewers, two was around 35k, and if memory serves three got up to almost 40k viewers. The deluge of bit drops and subscriptions broke their software *every time*. On part three their streamlabs broke before the episode even began, all from it not being able to keep up with us.
Digging the new intros, so goofy. The cake thing was a reference to Death Note where the editors note made a reference to Keikaku meaning plan, also Vegeta Jr Jr talked like Nappa, which is absolutely hilarious to me.
We need part 2 ASAP!

Okay, just gonna say it.
KaiserNeko and Lanipator (voices of Trunks and Vegeta respectively, and also writers on the show) specifically wrote Goku and Cell to be, in their words, "fightsexual".
This is why Cell sounds really...excited...to fight strong people.
Also, the final song when Gohan went Super Saiyan 2 was in the original Japanese, but TeamFourStar specifically hired someone to sing the English version of the original.

@@silver7215 I mean they hired somebody to do this cover, but MasakoX (voice of Goku and Gohan) does song covers on CZcams, as do Little Kuriboh (Freeza and the Narrator) and Megami33 (Bulma, baby Trunks, Puar, Chiaotzu). And obviously Takahata101 (Cell, Guru, Dende, Nappa, Popo) has hella pipes as will be clear in a couple episodes.
Day of Fate has a cover by Johnathan Young (in the style of metal). It's very good.

I binge watched all your reactions over the past couple weeks and have finally caught up! Can't wait for parts 2/3 to come out! I love how much you all also enjoy their progression/improvement as creators. It's almost not even an abridged at this point, it's just a comedic dub, so ridiculously well made.
I fucking loved this episode, Goku's plan, Gohan letting go of his tears, Sixteens speech, they just gave me chills when I watched it the first few times. Just an amazing episode. I'll post references in a minute here

Android 16 was able to get to Cell because Cell couldn't detect him, thanks to being an Android.
The Cell Jr. named Vegeta Jr. is the reincarnation of Nappa that Vegeta killed back in the Saiyan Saga.
"You're two Slow" is a reference to Sonic's classic line from Cell Jr.
Android 16 is TFS' favorite character in the whole series
Oooohh!! Tht makes perfect sense about Android 16 getting close to Cell! And its not hard to imagine him being their fav character. He may seem simple but actually has a deeper understanding than it may seem and is so human-like despite being an android. And he seems like a gentle giant in a way! 🥰

@@craigime Vegeta Jr Jr does have Nappa's voice from the Saiyan Saga. Basically it is the Saiyan Saga version of Nappa's spirite in him. That was what I talking about with it.

Despite how powerful characters are in Japanese shows, nukes seem to trump a lot of that. HxH is a great example with a lot of people dying from radiation sickness near the end of one of the arcs, even if they survived the blast.

Just wanted to give yall a heads up (cause a friend of mine recently asked this after watching DBZA) There is no more DBZA after Ep 60 Part 2. They have a video about why they stopped but you can really see all the hard work that they put into these last 2 episodes cause it is brilliant! Honestly I struggle at times to say if I like OG Dragonball Z or DBZA more. But damn if TeamFourStar didn't do a fantastic job!

I remember when they first released this episode (all the parts) they of course did a twitch stream. I was there for all of them and each one broke 30K viewers. This first part basically from 16s speech onward I was caught in my feels. TFS are amazing!

Hercule is actually one of the best characters in the show. People like to call him weak and a lier, but he's just a slightly above average guy that willingly put himself into danger to do what he thinks will help against beings he can't even imagine the power of. I'd honestly call him an honorary Z-Fighter.
I think the bit Cell is saying about Yamcha not deserving of the beating he gets is a reference to the idea that he's weak. Team Four-Star was actually the people that started the joke about him being weak when he got exploded, but he really isn't weak. He started training a year after Goku with Roshi, and if he hadn't, he'd probably be keeping up with him, if not surpassing him. For example, Goku trained for two or three years with Kami and Popo, but barely beat Piccolo. Yamcha trained with them for a single year (which showed him 2v1ing two other members) and he was stronger than Raditz when he was done. This being after years of inactivity. Then he trained for half the time Goku did with King Kai and was stronger than the other Saiyans. Basically, in terms of strength, he's about a year behind Goku. Probably one of the stronger members of the group if not the strongest.

And I feel like if satan got the turtle hermit training, hed be potentially stronger than al the humans. Assuming hes a legitimate champion and not a total fake, if he had that extra boost with roshi or tien, hed probably give base goku a hard time.

I'd say he's currently on par with a mid-tier fighter in one of the original tournaments, maybe more. If he'd trained at the same time as Krillin or Yamcha, then he'd probably be on par with the other humans.

@Peter Richard-Johnson he only had one fight though, against the Saibaman. Which then exploded, something nobody knew it could do. The closest thing to a fight afterwards was against Gero, who again, used an ability nobody could've guessed he had to steal his energy
Make sure you watch part 3 all the way to the end it is sweet and hilarious.

Yamcha's limb aka arm getting wrecked is IMO Cell's cruel callback on Dragonball - rare for Toriyama, where Tien who was still "evil" jumped On Yamcha's leg breaking it. That episode even being called in the Dub Yamcha's Big Break O_O
TFS obviously let Cell state Yamcha getting kicked by Cell Jr. is like a metaphor.
It's a shame that y'all don't remember the original anime before watching this. It gives the Abridged version more connectivity because there are things they say that you need to have watched the original anime to understand. Like the joke about the Cell Jr names, or the joke about Goku's stolen techniques, or why Cell was ragging Gohan so hard about not getting angry. But all things considered, yall still are one of the best reaction groups out there, I always enjoy watching yall videos 💯

These next few episodes have tons of references to previous episodes.
Team Three-Star is the team Krillin made with Vegeta and Gohan on Names, which was a parody of Team Four-Star.
The Keikaku but is a reference to bad fan translations which had unnecessary editors notes like that a lot.
Got a reference to the Krillin or Vegeta bet between Piccolo and Tien.
Gohan had Goku's trait of squeaking when crushed.
Basically everything in Goku's life
/is/ a fight, he never really learned anything else and I thought that was sad when I watched for the first time.
Piccolo is generally considered a better dad to Gohan than Goku, but I can't really blame Goku too much for it. Like I said above, fighting is all he knows.
When Hercule wants a fridge, it's a reference to Indiana Jones when he escaped a nuclear test in one.
There was a reference to his bomb being gone earlier when he said he felt fifteen pounds lighter.
Piccolo is confused about the lack of an egg because that's how he was born, his dad spit him up as an egg.
Naturally we have a reference to Vegeta Junior, the Saibaman who talked like Nappa. This Junior said "I'm fighting you" instead of haunting. They aren't as strong as him, but Goku is tired, so they're stronger than him right now.
Got a Sonic reference with the one fighting Krillin
Yamcha getting his arm broken is a reference to a movie you haven't watched yet, Lord slug. Piccolo is about to break a minions arm and they say the same stuff.
Yamcha is actually a professional baseball player
