One thing people don't seem to consider when talking about Freddy in Space 2 is that it wasn't made to be its own spin-off, but that it was made for a charity event hosted by Game Theory. The amount of money collected in-game was the sum that Scott would personally donate to the charity, maxing out at half a million dollars. Don't see many people mention this important detail, since it puts the entire experience in a different context.

I understand when someone says he dont care about graphics and wont count it in his ranking but the amount of money collected is not an indicator of a good game (unless we are talking about "good" in morality - then its the best)

um you're literally the second comment out of the 3 i've read to mention it, also even if it was for a really cool cause, it doesn't cange the fact that it's just worse than the other games.
One thing that I feel should be mentioned with Freddy in Space 2 is that it was made for one of MatPat’s St. Jude Charity streams.
As many problems as I can have with Scott and his method of storytelling and a lot of the choices he’s made, I’ll give him this one. It was a really cool thing for him to do.
Not to mention Scott personally donated 1 million dollars even when Matt, Dawko, and Mark(?) didn't get that many of the in-game currency.
Scott was raising money for a children’s playground in Afghanistan during the war back in the early 2,000s. Dudes a saint idk how you look negatively on him.
@@crhed6328 It’s because they disagree with him politically. Scott Cawthon is a conservative who, iirc, was exposed to have voted for Trump, so people automatically assume he’s a raging racist/sexist/transphobe/homophobe/etc.
Does it suck that he voted for such a horrible person? Yes. Does that automatically make him a horrible person? Absolutely not. People are allowed to exercise their right to vote/support whatever politician they please without it being a comment on their character.
I think the crux of people’s issue with the guy is that their money (his income) went to support sketchy politicians, which, fair enough, but that shouldn’t negate the amount of good he’s done. We don’t know (afaik, been a while since it happened, idk if he ever commented on it) why he votes conservative, and, honestly, it doesn’t belong with us.
Also, iirc, the incident also led to people sending him and his family death threats, because of course it did. Don’t you love politics, especially American politics? 🦅
ETA: I should note that I didn’t mean to come off as rude. I just wanted to give a neutral perspective on the topic, but ig I have a soft spot for the guy as he kinda shaped the later half of my childhood with the spooky robo-bear game 😅

You totallly could have had a spooky time in the pizzaplex if all the lights werent turned on. maybe you could like turn them on and have them as safe spaces, with how segmentated the game is, adn it can still keep the wow factor of seeing a fully functioning pizzaplex.
Tbh the lights being on towards the first portion of the game while you learn the mechanics and then turning off after a certain point would've worked wonders.
We'd see a functioning Pizza Plex through a sizeable portion of the gameplay as the game let us learn what it was like and then the lights would be taken from us and we'd have to use our knowledge earned when everything was more fine
i’m surprised 4 is so low. it’s such a unique game to the series but still feels true to what fnaf is, plus the fact that it’s actually scary. also nightmarionne is one of my favorite characters in the franchise.

Security Breach ranking above FNAF 3 is insane.
There is no reality where I would put FNAF 3 even anywhere NEAR Security Breach. Security Breach isn't that great but FNAF 3 isn't at all great.

I have a feeling this is due to how the survey was created. Tetra says he asked people to only rank games they've played. A lot of people have only played Security Breach; AstralSpiff himself started as a SB only player. I have a feeling a lot of these brand-new players only ranked Security Breach, meaning it had a lot of really good reviews from people who have only played it. Meanwhile, longtime FNaF fans may have ranked FNaF 3 a little lower compared to all the games they've played.
My list would go
10/10 games:
SB - It has two Music Men
Pizzeria sim - It introduced Music Man
UCN - It has Music Man and gives him a voice
and the rest of the game are 1/10 because they lack Music Man

Oh I liked Freddy in Space 2. I wouldn't even say I've played many Metroid like games, it's just a lot of fun, a nice change of pace and with it being made just for a charity event you can't really get mad at it. Great game, would love to see more like it
Thomas Game Docs did a similar thing with other series but also asked for three words to describe their feelings on the game. Would've been great here.

Great video, tetra becoming a softcore fnaf youtuber is something i never thought i’d see.
I really like Security Breach as a world design and the characters, I'd almost prefer it had even less FNAF trappings and be more of the cool mildly creepy 80s adventure movie it seems to want to channel, like The Goonies.

I think Security Breach would've done better if it wasn't marketed as the next mainline installment in the series, because it's essentially a spinoff, a complete departure from the games before, with barely any similarities besides the setting it exists in, and even then that's debatable, it took place in a damn *pizza mall* of all places.

Couple things worth mentioning:
1) I remember pretty distinctly that a lot of people didn't like FNAF World until the Halloween update, which added the majority of the minigames. It wasn't helped by the fact that, on top of it being a pretty severe departure from the rest of the series up to that point, the initial release was apparently pretty terrible. I think the Halloween update really cemented what it was meant to be, which was a goofy little celebration of the series as a whole, so that's when it started to grow on people. (Though it had its cult following before then, myself included, lol.)
2) I don't know if it's still true today, but I recall there being a pretty vocal crowd who did not enjoy FNAF 2's mechanics, with the music box being particularly maligned. That might explain the weirdly high percentage of 4/10 votes, in spite of the game otherwise being pretty popular.
But yeah, definitely interesting to see this list! Surprised by some of the placements, I'm especially surprised that Help Wanted was #1. I guess it makes sense, though, since it had SO much content.
Update 1 of the game was moreso what I remember people liking, and all it did was add 3d sprites instead of pixel art, list of moves when you hover over a character in character select, and attack descriptions when you hover over them in battles. The halloween update which came later wasn't even that easy to get to unless you knew the game well. All in all not much has changed about it so I think it's mostly in people's heads.
Yeah FNAF 2 is weird.
I personally kinda hate it and I think it makes sense that people who don't like FNAF 2 REALLY don't like it. I'm one of them as I feel like it took away a lot of what made the series creepy in the first place and REEKS of "rushed game that doesn't come together well" due to the game just being an RNG conveyor of repetitive animatronics beating you over the head with such an oddly small window to deal with them considering how very few other games give you such split reaction time to deal with them.
I Cant believe SL and 3 was so low. Both we’re integral parts if the story with the full reveal of the killer in 3 and the establishment of Micheal in SL. Without these two the story’s of the games would be so much different.
The ratings seem distinctly based on playing the game and game quality. If you had to consider story importance when rating games, everything would be Whack

SL wasn't THAT bad, it was nice actually. The gameplay was different and tense and all the nights are different
I mean. SL had a cool story but the gameplay wasn't anything very special tbh. I think what really hurts it is it's lack of replayability.
With other FNaF games you can replay them a ton to get better at the game mechanics and know the ins and outs of the game, and it also has a natural learning curve as the nights progress
But SL doesn't have any of that. It's essentially an interactive cutscene if you think about it, there's rarely any gameplay where you react to things happening randomly, most of the game events are scripted and you know they're gonna happen and the brief segments of actual gameplay that exist kinda boil down to "Press W" and watch out.
@@slaybutton1692 This is the kind of thing where I'd say it depends heavily on the person playing and how much needs to be going of for a person to be immersed. If you're immersed in something, you automatically feel the experience. SL is all about atmosphere and characters, all it's entertainment value comes from how willing you are to let it be your eyes. I personally find that intense gameplay usually distracts me from the experience of the games more than anything as they become more and more ridiculous and unbelievable. 300 mph animatronics are goofy. But then I just enjoy them for that instead. Really it's just that they're different kinds of entertainment and shouldn't be lumped together like that. It's like a choose-your-own-adventure book vs a graphic novel, those aren't even considered the same activity.

Security Breach was such a tragedy. It was conceptually good in so many ways, but failed in execution in so many more because it was rushed and not play tested.
What... Exactly is good about it conceptually? At least Help Wanted retained a great atmosphere and improvements to gameplay, with only the story being stupid. Security Breach is just derived from the story started in HW but now that's essentially everything...
What could you possibly think is good about it conceptually?
@@burgerkingfries4941 there are a lot of concepts in the game, both from meta things (setting, story elements, worldbuilding, themes, etc), but also from the gameplay side (alien isolation but fnaf themed def could work, which is essentially what the core of SB is, you can see it in a lot of things, but none are executed well) that were very interesting and rather good on paper
It realy could have worked and been something great, i know some aspects are devisive, but i think that is moreso due to execution rather than anything else
FNaF 1 was BRUTAL and revolutionary at the time. Back then, it was very common for horror games to be aimed towards older people (sadly, mascot horror took over) and you would NOT see a game where children would get KILLED. Scott then made an entire new genre and way to experience a horror game.
FNaF 1 appealed to older audiences due to it being the most lucrative audience back then (Now children are the most lucrative one) and FNaF 1 had a BRUTAL short story, that is what makes that game a MASTERPIECE.
Now for FNaF SB... characters that are almost like people, game def made for children, not scary at all, complex stupid ass dorky lore.
And the obvious furry bait that is Roxanne
Fnaf 1 still didn't deserve to be that high I mean like almost all of the other fnaf games are better and half the reason it was so high is because of nostalgia
It's incredibly surprising to me that the highest rated game got just barely under a 70%. Maybe a good portion of the community is very cynical? Maybe there were a bunch of trolls that also added to the vote? Who knows, but it's a very interesting thing to consider in the grand scheme of the franchise.

Man, SL and SB over 3 is astonishing. I understand that the gameplay was medioker but the story and atmosphere of being hunted by springtrap were top notch, while SL had even worse gameplay (it was a cool idea but made not too greatly) and SB had shit ton of bugs and performance issues and serves a very weak and convoluted story (bringing afton again how creative)
SL has still aged better than 3 and imo, 2. The main saga still clears everything else though imo, barring maybe World and Help Wanted

My personal favorite is Sister location. The change of direction from the first 4 games is always nice to see, and the atmosphere is my favorite. The idea that you are thousands of feet underground, isolated from the rest of society entirely in some creepy new animatronic location is awesome. Ntm the actual gameplay itself which is my favorite out of all the games. Then again, yeah fnaf VR deserved the win entirely
Looked in the timeline and saw a section in the middle that looked longer than the others, instantly knew it was SB, lol. It’s interesting how polarizing that game is. I personally think it’s a lot of fun, but I understand why lots of people despise it (or only enjoy watching others break it).
I mean, it was poorly built, filled with odd gameplay and story choices, and was sorta anti-fnaf in many ways, what could you expect? A lot of people went into it as a continuation of the series. I also think a lot of people were really disappointed because what they showed before it came out looked really good, character designs, premise, setting... but everything else was kinda a mess. It's a really bad look to most people when visuals are the highest quality feature of a game, I myself would have been super glad if they never added raytracing and instead spent time on literally anything else.

I'd still personally rank FNAF world in my top 5 as I have very fond memories of the game. Maybe nostalgia is a factor in this but i remember spending hours on that game trying to get the very best team.

Fnaf security breach is so low on the list? Wow, I started to believe in humanity again. I don’t hate security breach for lore, glitches or cut content, this game just doesn’t feel like horror, neither it feels like fnaf, as all of the features that made this game series so special for me, are just not there

I got to say that phantom Ballon Boy jump scare actually scared me when he showed it on screen it scared me because I was actually looking a little bit away at the screen and when I saw he doing the jump scare I got scared because I thought something was actually coming for me and come out of my phone

Small correction: Freddy in space 2 was made for a gtlive charity stream. Matpat had a charity stream and for everyone dollar amount found, Scott would donate to the cause. I think it gets a bit of a higher rating for me just because of how nice the cause was.

Yeah, I find it ironic that the same people who hate on Fnaf for being a jumpscare fest will almost always hate on Fnaf 3 for having lame jump scares.

@@cardnal44 In my opinion, the gameplay of Fnaf 3 is some of the best. Unlike the first two games 3 actually gives you a reason to use the cameras. Springtrap is also the first animatronic in the series that doesn’t have a preset path.
For me the list is accurate aside from swapping 2 and 1 and bringing World up a few places

They prob are angry that the cameras are gone (which is understandable considering FNaF is known for its unique gameplay) or "waah too scary plus i cant hear breathing!! i go to door and wait half a second then turn on light BUT I STILL DIE!! BRUH this game sucks!!" OR "too repetitive you do the SAME THING!!!!" when other fnaf games are so repetitive themselves lol, at least 4 brings in a new mechanic with Fredbear.
I've never played 4, so I can't give it a ranking or personal experience, but I can say why I've never played 4 - and that's because mandatory cues you need to survive are entirely audio-based.
I have hearing damage, so seeing people constantly say the breathing noises are super quiet and can't be turned up, all while the jumpscare noises are super loud and can't be turned down, has been a huge turnoff. I've played almost every other game apart from 4 purely just because I know I can't trust my hearing, and most of the others have visual cues as well so I can still play them.
Maybe it's not as bad as it once was. All I know is I can never hear the breathing noises through let's play videos unless I turn the audio up a lot - enough to make those jumpscares force my soul out of my ears lmao, and that doesn't feel like a gaming experience I want to go through.
I wouldn't give it a low rating for that alone; it still looks like a fun game from what I've seen of others playing it. But if I had to guess, maybe other players have similar situations as me and that's why it ranked lower?
Feels like its gameplay + horror factor genuinely aged the best. Unlike 1 and especially 2, you can't trivialize the gameplay loop with extremely quick actions, but instead have to stop and listen, which only serves to add tension to an already very effective atmosphere. Probably my favorite of the bunch.

Pretty surprising and based from the community to choose HW as the best fnaf games, i expected maybe fnaf 1 or 2 since they are the most popular or even SB
Even for me, HW is easily the BEST fnaf game so far, gameplay wise its one of the best if not the best one after or before SB, and the Story telling, glitchtrap and the whole set up to sb is INSANE, i just love that game, its clearly the most balanced fnaf game overall
And i would place SL way higher imo, prob top 3 cuz the narrative of that game is prob the best one with HW, and the gameplay is pretty versatile compared to the previous games and i love the characters, SL really deserves more
I rate fnaf games mostly based on how good narrative is cuz in tzrms of gameplay most fnaf games are equal as their gameplay arent that fantastic tbh, so thats also why SL imo should be in the top 3 and i like how different it was from the other games, and also the voice acting was neat and new at that time (except for phone guy)

Ok, Sister Location ranking 6th is a literal CRIME. Easily my favorite of the entire series...
it has amazing story but gameplay is weak (aside from custom night, its one of my favourites)
It's just an objectively bad game bringing more bad things to the francise than good things. Custom night was the only good thing.
Seing Spigg in the wild was a nice surprise.

Fnaf 3 is the most underrated and best game in the series to me it incapsulates everything amazing about the first 3 games and easily has the best story, main antagonist and atmosphere in the whole series.
For real. I can't see why on earth it ranks lower than Security Breach, though I have my suspicions that perhaps Tetra's audience is biased against it. I've seen many comments here saying that Springtrap is a boring/not scary/bad design, and I genuinely can't wrap my head around it. I've been around since the start, and Springtrap in particular was and is just so intriguing and wonderful from a design and story perspective. It's stand-out in the series for inventing a new gameplay loop, and for being the polar opposite of FNaF 2's too many threats by having only one. But it doesn't make it any less effective, scrambling to keep track of Springtrap and managing your systems really keeps a constant feeling of panic because of the chance that he might leave and take a shortcut to you at any time. It also feels very... personal? Especially after the (then) shocking reveal that the *thing* you're up against is the person responsible for the murders you've learned about in the other two games. I for one love the dingy atmosphere, and it does a pretty fantastic job of giving you an in-universe explanation for every single thing that goes on. I have played it myself, and going through a phantom jumpscare might be worse than the regular instant-death jumpscares, because you have to recover from it and reboot your systems to try and get your foothold back. The concept of Springtrap is terrifying, much moreso than usual. A psychopathic murderer trapped eternally in his own creation, fueled by nothing but bloodlust and revenge. But he's not fully in control, the suit takes over and walks towards sound just like it was programmed to, and it freezes him during normal operating hours. All of everything just culminates in an extremely memorable experience, and it'll always be my favorite.
@@AlexyoTheFirst i think people dont like fnaf 3 for pretty good reasons, not saying it is bad but it just doesnt work that well. the games very hard to see, which, yeah is the point but it just makes it rather innaccesible and ugly, also being overwhelming, while that can be panic inducing, is generally not a thing people like for games. wrong type of panic i suppose
fnaf green simply seems more frustrating and confusing than scary, and once you figure things out its not the mechanical challenge that other fnaf games have (supposedly, atleast)
now i dont think its a bad game, and it seems to be effective at what it tries to do for the most part, it just seems that it isnt very fun, and it isnt very scary (panic doesnt really count for horror like that, its simply different)
as for springtrap specifically, people generally like him and his design but well its been worn out a bit and doesnt hit as hard anymore when its common knowledge, sure its conceptually rather disturbing but the series has done worse (ennard certainly is a scarier concept, being worn as a flesh suit and all) and honestly, it's not even *that* bad when you think about it, it's not very different from the haunting we already had, this time the body is just still there and the ghost has more sentience

Security Breach is my absolute favourite game, not only in the fnaf game context but just for all the games I've played. I think this is because of a mix of reasons. I love all the bugs and glitches that allow you to play it however you like. I also love how easy the game is to mod and how many things you can make
out of it just by thinking around the limitations and features the game gives you. It's also the first fnaf game I've played and one of my most played games with 526 hours on Steam and around 300 untracked as I'm writing this. Lastly, it was the game that intoduced me to Spiff who quickly became my favourite creator by far and I have to give points to SB for that. If I had to pick my favourite game, it would be Security Breach.
Security breach is a bad game. That’s not something you can disagree with but like you I do personally enjoy it although I don’t see it being my favorite game of all time when there are so many better ones

Remember when people said after FNAF 1 the games were way too easy because of the "Domination"? Then Security Breach comes and everyone hates it because its missions and challenges were way too difficult😅
Edit: NOT SAVING after 6 am was a terrible idea and i understood why the game was so hated, but now they removed it and NOW you can save you progess at atrium at 6 am

fnaf ar actually has a really good consept but illumix just started shoving pay2win stuff and it has a worse progresion system than launch.
to fight harder animatronics you have to lvl up which take a really long time instead of the original streak system where the higher streak you had the harder animatronics would arrive (the streak system is way better).
it's also really unotpimized (worse than sb) where every 5 encounters the game would crash, draining the battery on my phone really fast and would make my phone really warm

Fnaf 2 hasn't aged well though unfortunately. 4:3 aspect ratio for some reason, and also the flashlight being disabled makes no sense. Fnaf 2 isn't bad but not in my top 3 for sure

5. Pizzeria Sim - days are good, salvage is good, and nights are fun when you learn mechanics, not too easy not impossible.
4. Fnaf 1 - the first, a classic, paved the way, but got quite monotonous very fast.

This game is great, use of sound is the best part.
2. Security breach / Ruin - actually very fun, not monotonous like most other games, has good visuals and bugs were and are fun to abuse. Much more fun

Fnaf world will always be my favourite next to ultimate custom night, they might not be that great to others but its the only 2 fnaf games i was able to play (and still do) without getting scared since im not that good with jumpscares
I appreciate the spin off boys. the fighting game, world, ar, and space 2. I can repsect games that take a spin eith the characters and world, fnaf world helped scott out mentally i believe, and taught him to respect the fanbase. I like them, even if i havent played 2 out of 4

It's crazy to see how much more favorably my least favorite mainline FNAF games (2, Sister Location, and UCN) are seen by the community than my favorite mainline games (3, 4, and Pizza Sim)
Oh and I haven't played Help Wanted or Security Breach and FNAF 1 is decent
