America needed a national hero. In the movie, Walking Tall, Hollywood introduced us to Tennessee's crime-busting sheriff, Buford Pusser. Richard & Gary offer 40 year-old tape recordings by Buford's deputy and friend to help tell the story behind the movie.

Sheriff Pusser was elected three times. Each term of Office was for two years and he severed as Sheriff from 1964-1970.
Well..Buford didn’t sever as sheriff although, he probably did sever some shit or a few things as sheriff though
He was also a constable before and after he was sheriff. He was the chief of police of Adamsville when he was first elected constable.
All the shock he went through he could still tell in the dark it was a blue caddy hilarious
I believe this deputy's account of events.
This is so hilarious
Sad but true story. Thank you for playing this .
Sad but not a true story
there is a lot of wrong information in this podcast...
Never toted a stick
he did have prior law experience he was chief of police in adamsville tn the same town his dad was chief of police of....
Yall couldnt tell the truth if it slapped yall in the face
The people of McNairy county know the truth. That's all that matters.
Bravo! Bravo! You told the story as I know it to be! Mike Elam says you are misinformed!
Mike Elam is also selling a book. Hmmm.
Mike Elam, Jim moffatt, and bill way all tell the truth and this isn’t it right here.
Now in 2024 they have exhumed her body. And the museum there I believe is closed.
An interesting story as to hw he "state line mob" came to be...phenix city al was where it all started...if any 1 knows phenix city its right across the state line from ft moore,ga...formerly known as ft benning...phenix city was the sin city of alabama ..gambling drinking prostituion...gen george patton swore hed flatten phenix city with a.column of tanks...state atty general john patterson was assassinated in PC...he was trying to clean it up...well things got a little hot in PC...and the whole operation moved to NW AL...NE MISS...AND SOUTH TENN
You know this is the Hollywood version what you are saying none of this is true she was carried out that morning and murderd by Buford do your homework
People don’t want to KNOW the truth for some reason!!🤔🤔. They’d rather eat this spoon fed movie BS!! Pusser was trash and as crooked as they come. And definitely a murderer
Never was a marine
I understand he was discharged fot asthma.
Buford Pusser was an honorably discharged Marine. He did receive a medical discharge but to say he wasn't a Marine is just plain nonsense. Anti Pusser Propaganda on full display
He was but didn't make it through basic so therefore not a marine
Neither Carl Towhead White Dewitt Dawson & The Hathcock's Weren't Never mentioned In the Walking Tall Movies for Certain Reasons but Walking Tall Is Still Great Movie
All worthy of a mention.😊
And the backglass wasn't busted, but she was shot in the head from the car going 100mph with no lights on to catch up to him.
They couldn’t have driven 100 mph that morning, i’ve been on New Hope rd many times and there’s no way anyone could drive 100 mph on that road today …much less in 1967. However i get your sentiment, a lot of people question Buford’s account of what truly happened that day.
The State of Tennessee recently exhumed the remains of Pauline. Hopefully before long we will have an accurate account of what really happened to Pauline Pusser. I’m looking forward to having some answers.
So misinformed
So he was driving 100mph with the window down?
If he was às dirty as you say why did he get killed by the ones he was to take down and he cleaned the county up and it is still cleaned up why didn't the ones start back breaking the law
He wasn't killed by anyone ...driving intoxicated at a high rate of speed
Buford just killed the ones that refused to pay, but unfortunately him and Pauline were “separated” but still living together the night “she was ambushed” there was no such car with “no headlights”
The film told a story not a true story
If you think the movie is BS you haven't seen anything until you check out the nonsense this guy by the name of Mike Elam is brainwashing people with. Nothing but hearsay and speculation.
What do you base this on? Explain yourself?
There Is More to The Buford Pusser Story Look Up the Names Carl Towhead White Dewitt Dawson Jack & Louise Hathcock Also Larry Britt They All Have Something to do with Buford Pussers Story There Is a Book Called the State Line Mob by W.R. Morris Covers Allot Before & After Buford Pusser Was Sheriff.
The book by W.R Morris is mainly fiction
Yes My Momma has this book also
Wheres the proof he was shot
Where's the proof he was corrupt? All hearsay, talk and gossip for the most part. Mike Elam has a biased grudge against Buford Pusser so you can't believe anything he says
@@donguess4332what kind of grudge does he have
Sorry for my earlier reply. Mike Elam has been trying to convince fans that all this never happened and that Buford murdered Pauline and shot himself.
There's more to it than people know.
Just follow the facts
I'm not sure he shot himself, Pauline may have shot him first??? Hopefully the autopsy will shed light on this dark event. He was a bully and a criminal, the movie was a lie.
BS. Where is your proof he was corrupt?
@@randylancaster8380The real facts or the Mike Elam facts? Lol.😅
Sorry 64 to 70
Buford served three terms as sheriff, 67 to 70
