Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition Features Trailer

- Whether you have fond NES memories or want to introduce yourself and your kids to the video games that made Nintendo a household name, you’ll love the compact and attractive console. The hub of the NES Classic Edition is the HOME Menu, which can be used to access all 30 of the classic NES games. From here, you can adjust various settings or just dive into a game and start playing. To help locate games quickly and easily, you can press the Select button to sort by title, two-player games, recently played games, number of times played, release date and publisher.
To make sure every Goomba stomp looks as authentic as possible, all games can be played in three display modes. With the CRT filter, a scan-line effect is added to the screen to give everything that oh-so-retro look and feel. 4:3 is a sharp, clean look that adheres to the original aspect ratio used by the NES. And when playing in Pixel Perfect mode, every pixel is shown as a perfect square, providing the most accurate representation of the games as they were originally designed.
Retro gaming is defined in part by the search for save spots and the need to enter long passwords, but in practice, those tasks can definitely be a little … um … time consuming. While all aspects of the original 30 NES games are intact, Suspend Points have been added to streamline the experience of playing them. At any point during gameplay, simply press the console’s Reset button to return to the HOME Menu and save a Suspend Point that will let you pick up right where you left off. Up to four Suspend Points can be saved per game, so you can track the progress of multiple players or file away your favorite moments. This is great news for parents, as their kids won’t be able to use the “I’ll be there when I get to the next save point!” excuse any more when dinner is ready.

4K is practically useless, considering the absurd amount of power needed to run it. Even with anti-aliasing, 1080 looks just as good as 4K without it.

Lol, entire console. Pretty sure the best part is the volume of (classic) games included on that console for $60 bucks. Basically, the difference between one PS4 game versus 30 or so, albeit DATED classic games along with the console and controller to play them on.

The NX fits in the palm of your hand. That is definitely both a home and portable console. Yes, you have to plug it into the tv and wall, but it fits in the palm of your hand. Did I mention that it fits in the palm of your hand. This home console is definitely portable.

My favorite thing about this is the old television looking filter. I thought about it near the beginning and was surprised to see they actually have that feature.

Pedro Bretones No they aren't, the the NES Classic is a remake of the NES. The RetroUSB AVS is also a remake of the NES. They both have save states, and both play games in proper modern tv aspect ratio. The only difference is that the AVS allows you to play physical NES and Famicom games. They are not completely different.

***** Yeah it's a PC emulator, but it works great with wireless gamepads. I play Mario Kart 64 with friends all the time and the PC is hooked up to the big flatscreen TV.

It's not an emulator. It's the real thing. An emulator EMULATES other software using it's own programming. This is being run by original Nintendo software.

I'm going to be very honest. My childhood console was a SEGA Genesis. I had a gameboy of course (I consider Pokemon to be the game that introduced me to how deep and immersive video games could be) but my first nintendo console was the N64 years later.
So I never played the NES as a kid. But this looks really cool and it is going straight onto my christmas list. But for the record? If they decide to do this with the SEGA Genesis, I will be all over that.

Jacob Carpenter doesn't really matter if they did or not. the only thing I know is its gonna hurt them badly. This console was more of an impulse buy than anything and dropping it right before the holiday season made it the perfect gift for both older people and the younger generations. The demand wont be as strong by the time they have full stock in all areas. They could have done 5 million units before the year end easily.

Mine was a hand me down as well. I played in the 2000's lol. I was born in 1997, so maybe this isn't as nostalgic for me as others but I think it's great! I loved playing this when I was little. I got mine from my mom and ho got hers for Christmas the year it came out. Still works pretty good!

The fact that it is only $60 is amazing. You are getting 30 amazing games and a system for that price. That means the games are only like $1 and the system is only like $30. Who doesnt want to buy 30 classic games and a nostalgic console for only $60. That is the price of 1 new game nowadays.

When I was little I always wanted a NES but we never seemed to find one and they are always exspensive on the internet and now I can enjoy the old Nintendo games and it's also really small so I can travel with it. From what we've seen, it only has HDMI output. But that CRT filter should help if you want a more authentic experience.

from my experience older games look less ugly on CRTs because the HD TVs sharpen the jagged edges older games had. I prefer CRTs to play games from the GCN era and below

Does it have game genie? WiFi capability? Can you add more games? Will AVGN endorse it?
