Downtown Portland, Oregon during a Thunderstorm | 4k 60fps | Virtual Walking Tour | Rain

- This is a virtual walking tour through Downtown Portland, Oregon in the evening during a thunderstorm. I begin at Pioneer Square and mainly walk up and down 5th, 6th Ave, Broadway St. This is a glimpse at city life in Portland.
If you live in Portland, you can probably tell I'm just walking in circles instead of walking to a destination.
I used an umbrella to cover the camera from the rain, and I recorded my own slip and fall.

I'm from Portland and I get homesick quite frequently, this video was nice and made me feel as if I'm not as far from home. Thank you. :)
My pleasure, hope you found this nostalgic
literally same :/ i recently moved an hour away from pdx

I miss our Beloved HomeTown as well, moved out of state 23 years ago, I regret it each and every day :(
Not missing much. Ain't a place to raise a family anymore. The leadership just ruined it here.
I slip and fall at 2:20
Sacrificing your body to bring us this cool chill video.
Bro your stabilization rig must be insane
Haha love how you tagged that part :) this is a great video by the way
Nice save there, man. I know that if it were me, the camera would be flying
@Helicopter Dad Lol the Democrats aren't communist.
I’m an international student who rides subway everyday in NYC everyday. This video reminds me that US is still the most advanced nation in the world lol
You’re so disgusting. You should get out of beautiful USA and don’t come into my country in Asia as well. Gross. Not welcomed anywhere.
Naw we wish, Asia and Europe are bodying us in that regard
True but unfortunately our public transport is waayyyyy behind
It's so quiet... I love it.
I spent a rainy night walking around downtown Denver recently, there is just something about walking through big cities during the rain.
I agree, much less hectic and noise and it feels like you’re more free to roam. It was important to take advantage of this day to film before the hot weather comes
If you like walking through big cities, you might try mine, NYC...hopefully, once this pandemic recedes, the streets and shops will be bustling with activity.
It’s rain that’s beautiful, doesn’t matter where, be it raining in a big city or a small countryside.
@@PS-kd1if Actually depends on where it is. You have no idea how butt ugly and horrifying some places in the third world are. I would know as I grew up in the third world and have seen some of those places up close.. my original country became richer in the past 20 years but I still have plenty of experiences seeing the shithole countries like China, Nepal, Laos, Cambodia, around my country.
pandemic?
No one seems bothered that they aren't carrying umbrellas. Beautiful scenery
We always say that you can tell Pacific Northwest locals apart from tourists by whether they cary an umbrella in the rain or not. 😂
@@catherinehansel yup
Antifa bought all the umbrella supply in Portland
Shirley Qualls we don't use umbrellas in portland. Thats only for the pussy tourists
Its a Portland thing lol
I hope to live in Portland one day !! Only hard work and dedication will tell ...
Hah! I bet you are re-thinking that plan right about now.
@@stewiepid4385 I support blm but damn destroying our city wasn’t the goddam point
Nothing has changed other than downtown.
and also detoxificationn!! on your part !! ha ha
Me too!! There's something just so beautiful about it 🥰
In Portland, we are only allotted 5 thunderstorms a year so they must be used wisely
True, I almost didn't make it to Downtown on time as well
Marjorie Parker in the motherland thunderstorm have you
One of my favorites: the warmth of the lights, the gentle rain, so gorgeous and serene-thank you.
I used to study and live in Portland during 1997-1998. Nothing change much!! It like more than 20 years But Portland is exactly the same!!!
A one of very few cities in USA where i would go to live in a heart beat. So beautiful town.
LMAO! You are NUTZ!
I guess you don’t watch much news. May want to pick another place to visit.
It really is. I've lived all over the country, and Portland is a lovely city.
@@Nostromo_1 I guess you only watch right-wing media for the narrative of people fleeing for their lives from the rioting in the city. What BS! Try to get a table at a restaurant or food cart downtown today - you won’t. Perhaps they’re all just stopping by for lunch during their escape from the destruction?! Idiot.
Watching this brought tears to my eyes. I used to work in that area and lived right above Voodoo Donuts in Old Towne. I had to move to Utah temporarily while covid is happening. Thank you for this video. I miss Portland so much!
Damn it’s so pretty and clean and green. Currently in NYC and it’s grimy and gray here. Lots of garbage everywhere. :/
Common Unicorn funny because I would love to live in NY :,)
회색 Eloise let’s switch lol
Me too the garbage in the street never bothered me, NYC is a town full of rich history, amazing Museums, just like Portland it has a lot of forest in a park called central park!
I worked in downtown Portland for over 30 years and this video brought back a lot of memories looking at the streets featured here where I walked or shopped during my lunch or break time. Thank you.
thunderstorm and people are out in shorts, t shirts, and no umbrella. just like home haha
The first few minutes it looks just like Market St. in San Francisco! I had to re-check your title lol
I was expecting Portland to be more dreary. This kind of looks like every city everywhere.
it looks like some shit out of a terminator movie now. All run down. Thank politicians and their wonderful policies.
7:18 Awwwww. lol
Thank you. I needed this so much. I haven't been anywhere since march except lab work last may. So to see Portland is really refreshing. This was really relaxing and kinda fun. Especially after all that protesting over summer. Keep it raining and thundering brings the peace along with the rain and thunder. I needed this. Will tell others. Peace. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.
Sitting in Omaha Nebraska. Dec 30, cold & snowy. This video is so good for my soul! Thank you 💕
Wow neat. I’d love to trade places for a few days I want some snow footage
Your city is high on Forbes, Business Insider, etc. lists for low cost of living and a growing job market. If it weren’t for the snow, I’d consider y’all..I just can’t stand the snow anymore, jesus
@@FunnyVideoMaker77 Snow in Portland? Maybe 2-3 days a year max.
what a beautiful colours... I'm fallen in love with this city.
Greetings from Italy, Europe
Portland was a really sweet town. Mellow. Friendly. Beautiful place to live. It was Gorgeous here the year 1980 .
Strange part about this is everybody seems to enjoy getting drenched. Hardly saw umbrellas !! Beautiful city and nice video. My heart skipped a beat when you tripped in the middle of oncoming traffic !!
Yeah this happened in the middle of summer it was a little out of place and thanks, appreciate the comment
It is my dream to live in Portland. As a ginger, I belong in cooler, wetter climates not dry, hot deserts like Utah.
Salt Lake City is beautiful, sincerely an east coaster who’s sick and tired of concrete and cold...so fucking cold...I’ll take that dry climate any day of the week brotha lol
But I also wanna move to Portland one day. Or SLC. Or Denver. Wherever I can get a decent job, where it doesn’t get dumped with foot of goddamn snow, and where I can actually buy a house.
@@FunnyVideoMaker77 Haha, if you don't want any snow, you don't want to move to SLC or Denver. We got tons of it and are known for our skiing. Best go to California where it's dry, Oregon or Washington where it rains instead of snow.
mrArchduke do you guys get East Coast type slushy, stays-on-the-ground-for-weeks snow/2+ footer blizzards every other month in the winter? I’m genuinely wondering, I haven’t travelled out to that part of the country yet. Excuse my ignorance haha
@@FunnyVideoMaker77 Actually it is pretty rare to have snow in Portland. Some years the flakes don’t even stick. Other years, the streets will be snowy for a couple days.
Words cannot describe how much I love this.
It's raining, but there's a warm :)
Home sweet home...just as beautiful as it always is ✌😊
Such a beautiful downtown. The rain and thunder add positively to the walk. Portland’s got a tram and buses-wow! Gotta visit some day.
downtown PDX is prettier than downtown Seattle. It has more trees and narrower streets. I miss walking around Portland. It has such a 'healthy' downtown. PDX city government could teach a lot to other cities about good zoning laws.
Maybe you should re-visit downtown Seattle. I bet you’d change your mind (especially since they tore down the Viaduct!)
I love both cities, but I have to agree with you on this. Seattle is becoming more corporate. Amazon has practically colonized parts of downtown. Longtime businesses are closing, people are being priced out.
Portland has some of these issues as well, but it still has a lot of charm and authenticity. And you can still afford to raise a family there. ‘Keep Portland Weird’ isn’t just a saying. It’s almost a rallying cry.
You wouldn't be saying that now!
LMAO! Portland and Seattle have FALLEN!
@@stewiepid4385 Really? Your right-wing Fox News narrative proven bogus yet again! The city is abuzz with tourists on e-bikes today and it’s difficult to find an open table in the downtown outdoor cafes. Sorry to disappoint you, uneducated and misinformed idiot.
沒有伞🌂雨天美景👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This is really cool. I’ve been living here for 5 years and still obsessed lol
An interesting fact about Oregonians: even though they live in one of the wettest places in the country, most of them don't use umbrellas when it rains. It's almost a cultural taboo there to carry an umbrella.
it's not rly a cultural taboo here. it depends on the person on whether they use one or not. we don't pay much attention to who's using or not using an umbrella. i personally don't tend to use them but that's just because i love walking around in the rain (with a windbreaker on obviously).
@@brielle4558 that's the main reason, we like the rain here in Oregon
I ditched the umbrella years ago. If you keep your head and your feet dry the rain is not a problem. You have to adapt because it rains for about nine months...we call it baby making weather.😏
It’s raining and it still looks beautiful - love the walks!
Wow beautiful portland. I subbed
I am going to Portland in 2 days it’s been 16 years since I’ve been there
Nice video! It's always soothing to hear the rain and see the sights!

I really sat and watched this whole video, I can’t wait to move to this city it’s beautiful. Awesome vid
Still is, if you havent made it yet.
one of the best video on rain walk .
I love your videos so much! I watch them over and over, so relaxing and so well done. I lived in Portland 10 years ago and it's like I'm right there again. Thanks!!!!
Appreciate the comment and thanks
I was missing Portland and I came across this. Thank you so much!
Super clean video! Love the colors.
Matt.Cook.Oregon thanks. Played around with the colors a bit
So much like downtown Seattle and Vancouver (BC).
Oh man you're tempting me to drive up to Seattle to try and capture a video like this there
Do it, dude! Get it on!
It's a lot like Vancouver Wa. in the USA. In fact you can walk across a bridge or two and your in Vancouver Wa.
In love with this city. Even tho I don't live there no more. I miss it a lot. Thanks for the video. Nice and educated people even homeless were cool, I felt like I was in my home country. Thanks ptown, thanks Oregon.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL city. (💎 💎 💎 💎 💎). Thank you for your time. 👏 🏆 🌹
Even more beautiful ❤️ video Portland in the rain 😍..the Golden lit city is marvellous.. thanks 😘
I have never been there so this is very enjoyable to watch!
This city is beautiful.
In love with this city 🌃😍, even tho I don’t live there but I love everything about it pretty views nature and seeing beautiful bridges , I love walking , missing PDX
.... the burning of businesses, the rioting, the mostly peaceful shootings ...
@@stewiepid4385 Moron spewing the right wing narrative. Sorry - people are onto you all now. Losers.
I live in Portland so this was a very familiar sight to see! Must've been a weekday since Pioneer Place is usually so busy.
Yup
This makes me sad, only because, it's nothing like this anymore! 💔😔
How has it changed?
Why
It may not ever be like this again. Oh my beautiful Portland... may you RIP. 😞💔
Portland will not be defeated! Still a beautiful city! The whole nation is dealing with homelessness, we're just not doing it well. The mayor's priorities were with wealthy developers, leaving the city's most vulnerable to die in the street. That's not a good look anywhere.
Beautiful reflections on the ground. Good job mate, keep walking 🤸🏽♂️
Thanks for the encouragement
There's something about certain parts of Portland that has an old city feel as well as a modern city feel. Maybe it's the proximity of the buildings to each other combined with all the windows each building has, or maybe it's the brick sidewalk with the concrete street and the fact that there are no parking lots easily visible ruining the flow of the city. Maybe it's both, either way it's nice, and especially in the rain. I would love to live there, but the lack of snow in the winter makes me want to just visit (I live in MN and love having snowy winters, but that doesn't change how nice the city is)
So peaceful and away from all other busy and hectic cities just the way I like it 🙂🌧🖤
Great video 👍 very good reflection on the road of colors !!!
Raj Sindha good exposure too
20:40, dude walking out in the grey rain in shorts...I do this on rain days down in California, and flip flops, it looks weird, but it's all just water.
I used to living in Portland, for 4 years
It’s so pretty and clean!
You are making me miss Portland! I recognize all the places you walked and I loved hearing the rain.
Thank. I am in the process of getting a 3d audio set up for recording to make the experience the immersive
Come home Girl, we miss you!!!
A year later and I still love this video. We are officially moving home to Portland next June and I cannot wait!
Haven’t been to Portland in 8 years, but seeing this video makes feel like I’m back there again 😩
LMAO! I don;t think you've seen what has happened in PDX.
Very cool. Thanks for taking the time to do this!!
I was at PSU 1990 to 1993. Time flies......
I want to work in the medical field so I can move and work here. This place is perfect
Yeah OHSU is big in Portland
I visited Portland a few years ago and still dream of moving there one day. My heart is definitely in Portland I need to get out there some day soon
I love how no one is using an umbrella ☔😂
Ooh, now Portland’s got “Miami Colors!” (used to be Gray when I lived there....)
It's both beautiful and sad to see this now.
Nice, clean
It’s not anymore! It’s a Libertarian hell hole!
Your town is so.. lit up? Anyone knows what I mean? So many lights and very warm too. Looks really inviting or cozy even :D
Yes I know what you mean. This is Downtown Portlands at its best, when its absolutely pouring outside. I also modified the colors from the original
Salt lake city is like this to, i love it
jacquie moravec Are you talking about California’s Salt Lake City?? Or is there one in Oregon too ?
@@riverx6802 salt lake city Utah I'm sure
First, thank you for this, it's absolutely lovely. I saw a lot of comments about no umbrellas. It's cultural. A few years ago we were a sea of umbrellas. I don't know when or why, but I ditched mine in favor of a fedora...and I noticed less and less umbrellas. They're almost gone. Go figure. 🤔
Very cool video and really well shot. The videos of Portland I've seen show beautiful weather (which are all great), but there aren't any videos (that I've seen) of rain. I was surprised to see so many people in t-shirts and shorts.
Moisturizer city 🌃 I love Portland Oregon and it’s raining 🌧 right now
Jazzemine Xylia I’ve filmed a lot of new rain videos already with 3D binaural audio and looking to film more. Those videos should be up within a couple weeks. I missed the giant rainstorm in Hillsboro unfortunately
Yes it is. I moved to Phoenix Az from my home town Portland in 2012 and it's so drying. The cereal doesn't go stale like it does in Portland but my skin has aged so much in Phoenix. I miss my home in Portland!
Thanks for the video these places will be within my plans.

hello, i dont think i have left a comment before i want to say my thanks but it has a long explanation !!!
but i have been a fairly frequent veiwer for at least a year now, i live in the UK and when i was a kid i never realy seen anything of other countries besides the odd famous building or city by photo or very breif clip here and there because i never travelled and youtube wasnt realy around until i was in high school.. i had a realy hard time as a kid and most of my teen to young adult years. with quite a LOT of trauma i have dealt with s/harm for 11 years and i am now finnaly in the start of therapy, they thinking i might have PTSD, i am also autistic (high functioning autism) and have severe anxiety and depression, seeing videos of America mesmerises me as well as many other places of course now that there are so many of these videos with my autism i have a VERY big fixation on rain, buses trains cars... so these videos are like gold to me hearing and seeing the sounds, the areas and buddings look so beautiful .. i have a handful of your videos in a special playlist i made for "GROUNDING TENQUIUES" that i called "GROUNDING STUFF"
your videos have helped me so much!!!!
thank you
Very nice!

Great video, really enjoyed this one!
looks very finesse in DT Portland
It’s like a mini Seattle
they call it rose city? I didn't know that. I love roses- but then, who doesn't?
Yeah, we have a huge rose garden and an annual Rose Festival, which has a carnival on the waterfront, two parades, and a Rose princess and queen; the Rose princess is chosen out of many different candidates from PDX high schools. There is also the Royal Rosarians who are basically Portland ambassadors.
Mmmmm yup that's Portland
It's a rainy day, NOT a thunderstorm.
