I can say with full confidence; The krono sales they were making while this dupe was going on, there was never any rush in them resolving this issue lol

Especially since they can just ban the people who bought Krono en masse using duped plat thereby making massive profits without those subs getting realized.
I remember when they rolled the game back due to NPCs having rare trade skill materials way back like 15 years ago. What a crazy time that was. They probably should have done what you said. Shut down servers immediately. Hunt down all the illicit gains, delete, and restart the servers.

I truly love Everquest 2. I don't play anymore, stopped playing well before the dupe on Varsoon. But to this day, it remains my favorite video game of all time. I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say it breaks my heart to see what has happened to the EQ2 TLE experience. There just aren't any other MMOs quite like EQ2, and to see what's left of the community and game being ruined in this way makes me sad. I miss the Sony days. Thanks for posting videos about Everquest, Bear. And hail to all my fellow adventurers in the comments.

This was my first thought exactly and it makes total sense.
I quit Varsoon about a month ago myself because of this. You said it perfectly Bear, this was my last straw. This paired with the whole Kander drama and corruption going on behind the scenes is ridiculous. This game is dead and it breaks my heart because ive been playing for like 18 years. Daybreaks response or lack thereof was awful. What a crappy ass company dude
Yeah, sorry it hit you in the same way. The EQ2 dupe was really tough to watch, especially since a majority of players are on the TLE. These things have to be acknowledged and fixed very quickly. They also happen frequently enough, Darkpaw needs a quick emergency plan in place to handle it.
The duping pushed the krono price on fv from 10-11m pp to 5-6m pp it is now. Crazy seeing how little krono's go for on tlps.
Exploit Early. Exploit Often. Earned a ton during this and kept it all. Thanks for your kronos ;)
well thank you for the explaination. We only play on TLE , eq2. never liked wow or new world...to many cheaters/quitters. sorry you quit, your guides for ROK really helped newbies. Feel pretty lost in the new expansion, never even got the hang of hunters or epic weapons. I guess you'll be back on next TLE, you'll be missed!

Antonia Bayle server is bad. 6 billion plat, for a krono. There are people handing out ridiculous amounts of free plats. I know duping plat was a thing, when i quit playing in 09. But the economy is ruined, in the game. Bidenomics

You stated all these games coming out with new content, but the private server scene for EQ and WoW is poppin right now! Why pay, when I can play for free!

They should have a way to freeze Krono transactions and leave the server up. Then at any point you find an exploit happening you can just freeze it and clean it up in a few days.
Next time I will just happily dupe away, freaking ridiculous.
The consequences definitely are not hard enough.
Not rolling back was the final straw for me - kiled any desire to play anything darkpaw hosts ever again. I will never re-sub.

what is a Krono?
An in game currency that you can redeem for 30 days play time.
lol oakwynd krono were over 1 mil, they are settled around 700k right now.

For all we know this entire incident was manufactured by Darkpaw to sell more Krono since now so many players need it for plat and game time.
Yeah we lost a lot of people on Varsoon. I think with WoW dropping a new server it’s gonna add to the loss >.

The exploit in eq after luclin dropped is why I quit. I hadn't played in 20 years and was really enjoying myself. I'm gonna give the origin server a try this year. Hopefully there's no issues like these. I keep saying db is on all this, black market krono/pl services included

Steamcharts doesn't show any impact from this. You can extrapolate that the non-steam playerbase is similar. The people quitting might be vocal, but doesn't seem to have made much an impact.
Yeah, all I have only anecdotes, but data wise you may be correct.
yeah the dupe sucks, but it's not true that you can't still get krono.. there are solo camps with good items. Like Fellspine, or various chardok/sebilis camps the you can farm items t hat sell for 100-300k each. The biggest hit is to dropped vendor trash. also why all the SG bots disappeared overnight. not worth the effort anymore. Everything is relative to krono, so moving forward all "new" drops will be priced accordingly. Those who got all their shit bought out on exploit night for nothing really got a tough pill.
Simple solution to the krono issue, make everyone expend all the krono they have on their account.

and don't collect years of sub fee's ? good way to go bankrupt. I got 10 KR on my account, if i had to use it that means no money from me for the next 10 mos.
TBH anything past Velious is a joke anyways PERHAPS up to PoP, but anything after that is a total joke

So I’m just playing on Oakwynd sand paying my monthly payment and enjoying the game, soloing as a mage, making all my gear and just chillin.

Player-run economies are just a bad game mechanic in general. The way DBG handled it was pretty much how I'd expect minus the unusually rude treatment of its EQ2 players. Also the mass deletion / moderation on community posts about issues is kinda gross too.
Yeah, I didn't like the mass moderation but there were definitely a lot of trolls mixed in with those genuinely concerned. I feel bad for those who genuinely wanted to help but weren't heard and/or were silenced.
Anyone who has been playing an MMO for any length of time knows that the economy was destroyed within hours not days...
Also I don't know that the players would care about a roll back... this is the type of issue that makes players cancel accounts.
Darkpaw made bank from the non dupers buying Krono to sell though I bet. They made a couple hundred off me lol

Yeah I came back after a long break due to work.
Looked at AH pricing on Maj and just assumed the conditions were due to the fact that the server was ancient.
Bought a few Krono so I could at least buy basic necessities only to then realize dupers were the core issue.
Plat farming for krono to play multiple accounts is the source of the problem. No one should be doing that. Single boxing is the only way and multiboxing ruins the game. A lot of justification for exploits or bad behaviors come down to multiboxing. If your argument is you "need to multibox". You already lost the game. Not to mention soloing on TLP is easier than ever.
Yeah, I understand people wanting to true box or multi-box especially if they play in odd hours, but I understand the sentiment. I also only play one toon, and I love having 6 full players in a group or full-raid, etc. It's just more fun that way imo.
It's a symptom, not a source. Multibox is a response to a problem, not the problem itself.
