I would like an update on what those pink berries taste like too, I've never seen such a thing. I was surprised that there was no snacking on the way home and it all made it home. lol
FD & FM, this is a fantastic haul. I am so glad that the two of you are such kind people to give so much to others. BUT…it makes me sad to even think about how wasteful this grocery chain is to just throw this out to go to the landfill. The two of you are so blessed. I'd hate to take anyone to look at how much food banks throw out. They probably throw out at least 10% of all the food that they get. It is really sad. I volunteered for one a while ago and if a piece of produce hit the ground they had to throw it in the compost bin due to safety regulations by the state where I live. Thankfully compost bins are now mandated, though.
That honey is a late summer/fall honey. We have gotten late fall honey from our hive and it was so dark even darker than that, it is so rich in flavor. Around here the last flow is from an evasive plant called Japanese knot weed. Nice haul.

I tried to replant those pineberries years ago, since they were rare and so expensive. Pineapple flavored strawberries 😋 but the ones I plantes years ago never made it. Thanks for reminding me to give it another go this summer if they cross my path 🤠

Here in the UK, we have people who collect all the things they can't sell at every store they take them to the homeless or food banks, local churches and distrbuted to the local community who may be struggling, free of charge, nothing is wasted, I d think that America is struggling with homeless and rising prices. I am so glad to hear that you are rescuing perfectly acceptable food from being wasted. Its sacrilege all the waste, that clearly is fit to eat. Our food is costing more, even so America is paying up to 5 times more for staples. Time you all ask why.

The rack of lamb looks good. Upon cooking the rack lamb, I found cooking the rack of lamb in a bundt pan. Laugh all you want, but true. Simply line the bundt pan with foil, then lightly spray it oil (thin layer). Place the rack of lamb ends up, surrounding the inside the bundt pan. Slightly tie the ends firmly. Now, to prevent the ends from being overly cooked, take pieces of foil and cover the ends securely not too tight. You want the rack of lamb to escape the steam. Now place the rack of lamb (in the bundt pan) on top of the cookie sheet. And bake it in the oven accordingly.

I was in ShopRite here in NJ , the produce guy was pulling out items that expire that day. I asked if he’d mark them down he said no, they won’t scan at the register so he has to throw them out😮😮😮.

Our Aldi has a sliding door on both sides. I never have to get in. I find lots of great stuff. I have a family of 7 and we eat better than if I had to buy everything. Fruit, veggies, and meat. Our fridge and freezers are full thanks to rescuing perfectly good food.

We use the cauliflower dips, mixed with some shredded chicken, and spread on a flatbread topped with shredded cheese…it makes a delightful pizza! They also have a buffalo cauliflower version 😋

I have anxiety really bad. I dont drive anymore and especially in stores where theres a lot of people, choices of products and bright lights. I get overwhelmed, start to get hot and sweaty, confused. Its awful sometimes. Ive left a cart full of groceries and just walked out crying. Its horrible and embarrassing. So it sounds plausible that someone would leave a grocery cart full. Thank goodness for home delivery! It saved me a lot of my sanity lol.

I want you to know that baby food is a wonderful additive when you are making banana bread or apple bread or any kind of bread that you call a fruit bread. It is just the right moisture. It’s wonderful.

Oh FM I'm so jelly right now. I cant drive at night cause my headlights crapped out on me. And I am missing the hauls so much. This food looked Amazing! I hope your kitchen has dried out nicely. And I am so glad you and FD are feeling better. This flu or whatever hell that was going around really put a lot of us down this year. Prayers for better healthy days ahead. Can't. Why would u even think a store would dump food from a shopping cart? Especially when there’s that much food in the dumpster regularly. My grocery store retrieves any carts with food in them after 10 min. the most, if left unattended. No, these stores just trash shelf items for extra space for newer items.. New food comes in dated much later. So, the older version has to make space for constant new items. My cousin works for Trader Joe’s. New shipments come in daily. It’s absurd.

Possibly because when they find an abandoned trolley and have no idea how long perishable items have been out of the fridge or freezer, their policy is to throw everything away rather than put it back for sale and risk someone getting food poisoning and sueing them?

If it’s a decent grocery, they have floaters checking for that so that food doesn’t spoil. A whole cart of food thrown out would be hundreds of dollars. They pay ppl to spot food left out of the freezer in wrong areas. My friends son works in our closest grocery, everyone is trained for that.
Hardly anyone abandons food carts because they left their wallet home. Of course ppl forget their wallets, but staff puts the food back right away. If I’m at the cashier and decide I don’t want the ice cream anymore, I tell them I’ll just put it back. If grocers said, “No, we don’t put items back, they lose a ton of money daily. Mostly opened items get tossed, and in dumpster cases, it’s mostly discarded foods making way for newer ones.
I do believe they don’t restock certain items that a customer rejects, but not a whole cart. That would break profits big time.

That particular chicken can stay in my fridge a week past date, and is fine when I open it, as long as the shrink/vac seal hasn’t been compromised.

My Greek mother in law favourite chicken wings in rice. I make it regularly. Brown onions, throw in fresh or dried herbs, then garlic, paprika, turmeric, then 2 to 3 wings per person. Brown for 3 to 4 minutes, turn heat down add tomatoes either ripe fresh or a tin, 3 cups tap water, 1 or 1 and a half cups rice, chopped up spinach, cook slowly until rice is cooked.

Lamb on the grill is my favorite way to cook it. I use rosemary and garlic with salt and pepper. You'll love it.
The plants for those "pine berries" is a bit more than a regular strawberry plant. I thiught about trying to grow some, but the squirrels are after my all my veggies & fruits lately.

Ooohh. Chicken wings make great chicken broth. Something else for you to can.
If u don’t want ur lamb dried out on the grill, first boil it on low for 1/2 hour. Add some soy sauce and white vinegar to the water first, just about a half cup each for that size lamb. U won’t taste it. Season the outside the way u want it afterwards to grill it. The outer skin will be so crispy, and the inside like “buttah” !!
U will thank me a million times over for that secret! Do the same for pork ribs. Then u can put that in ur recipe book down the line, but each viewers recipe should be credited. I think FD had something there with this unique cookbook from viewers. 🌝👏👏
p.s… season the fatty skin all around with garlic salt, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, and a spec of cinnamon sugar. That’s just one idea. U can season however u want before grilling, but the one I mentioned is amazing.
