Around here Restore is such a last ditch donation place, they take stuff no one else will, not thrift stores so its not like there is anywhere to donate it again. So I can see how they get overloaded with nowhere as an outlet...u would think they would purge some of their more odd stuff like scraps of trim and knobs from the 80s...but if the place had too many light fixtures, I guess that's what had to go. Too bad the store manager couldn't do some networking to get the stuff to another store, maybe trade the dumpster fee for a trucking cost... maybe after they see divers and the commentary they will be creative with thimgs that are better overages. Or maybe they encourage divers to come reap the rewards.
Last time I was at Restore it was very picked over older builder's brass fixtures, nothing quality or things ppl are using in current builds. That's rough for them to turn over, I get that. These are nice looking but needed to be heavily discounted for this quality.
@@PurdueAlum01 I’m a regular shopper there and you nailed it 100%. All I’d add is there are some people who go in and scoop up anything somewhat modern there. It’s like they somehow know before anyone else.
That said, I’ve gotten many great items there and crafted so many awesome things out of what looks like scraps. I think this store should focus more on targeting those who like to up-cycle. All that Re-Store needs is someone with a large social media following and savvy craft/rehab mind to feature them as a place they regularly go for supplies that can usually be found there - like trim, paint supplies, old doors, etc. The videos on TV that I see only feature the one off miraculous finds, or not at all because they’re all about their own stuff or their sponsors.
THE perfect graduation gift for your Big Gril would be a new 2023 car!! AND, of course, she gets to pick it out! LOL

That storm was unbelievable…the thunder was BRUTAL!! Lasted for hours and the rain was welcomed…we had flood warnings, but it wasn’t torrential…just scary thunder!!
Frugal Mommy& Frugal Daddy. You guys should really go diving at the College Dorm dumpsters when students move out in May. Thats my favorite time to dive. Lots of food, cleaning supplies, home decor,etc. I know youve gone to Princeton before. I think youd find a lot of awesome stuff. Much love

@@charmainewithrow7566 I have heard of HfH before & know of all the good they do which is why this haul was such a shock to me. They could have used those lights, at least, in some of the places they improve for people in need. That store is not helping their cause.

Well I'm from the US & I tried hard 2 get H4H help my family w 2 disabled sons & all I saw was them building home after home after home for foreigners not born here or paying taxes here all their lives like I've been doing!

We always keep, donate what we can to family/friends/neighbours then it goes on marketplace. It’s your time, petrol, risk etc its not ‘free’ for you guys - so sell it!! & don’t let anyone lowball you

Why wouldn't the Re Store mark the vanity lights down to 5 or 10 dollars rather than put them in the landfill? It makes no sense.
9 times outta ten it's just another write off for the companies....and they get full price for them write off instead of discounting it n getting lesser money for it

My family was chosen to receive a home through Habitat for Humanity. For 2 years, every Saturday we had different groups of people ( church groups, a bunch of sailors from the Navy Yard, Sororities, Fraternities, people came from near and far to help us build our home.
My family was required to put in 200 "Sweat Equity" building our home. When it was done we had a wonderful home with a nominal 15 year mortgage, which we paid off.
If you could have been there every Saturday for those two years, you might feel differently.

As far as graduation…We found that cash and a party is much appreciated 🎉
Our daughter has put herself through college 100% and is graduating next month with her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy ❤ we’re so proud and decided that a immediate family dinner at her favorite restaurant then, graduation party at our house with family and friends…and some rent money to help cover a month or 2 once she moves out 😊
Hang those light fixtures with the open end down and you won't collect so much dust.... The light will shine down which is how I think it should go... FYI we don't need to know about all the poo....LOL

Could they use some kind of weird bulbs that are hard (or impossible) to find now that they changed all the bulbs in the last few years? I would be extra sure you can find replacement bulbs - or any at all in the first place - before getting carried away installing them anywhere.

To me Habitat for Humanity is azz backwards. 600. For a worn out couch, but throws out brand new items still in tbe box
We call the long tall bins "skip" bins which are usually used on building sites off cuts, wires, etc (in Australia) 😊
Yes, in South Africa we also call them skips. But I would never encourage anyone to dumpster dive in our country... 99.9% guaranteed you will be assaulted, robbed of your car and phones and equipment. Chance of you losing your life also ranges in the high ninety percentages.. so I really enjoy you guys doing it under relatively safe circumstances.

With the dogs take away the regular food and only give them boiled hamburger and rice it will settle Thier stomach
I use rice and boiled chicken. The rice “water” is also soothing.

We got our vanity from Habitat Restore. They have great sales on items that r new & ones that r like new. I love shopping there! U gotta wonderful blessing Frugal mommy & daddy!! When we were able we got quite a bit of good stuff dumpster diving & "curb market" stuff!! We had to stop,sort of. One time we found boxes of rubber/plastic wood look flooring!! 🤗
