The Best Car I've Bought? Big Miles in My McLaren 675LT Spider

- Exactly as planned, my McLaren 675LT Spider is properly back in action! Just two weeks since it returned to the garage, another 5,000km / 3,000 miles have been covered on this mega road trip so far. However, there's a long leg from Italy back up to Germany with plenty to discuss about what it's like to live on the road in a 675LT.
Having re-collected the McLaren 675LT only two weeks ago from Topaz Detailing after PPF installation to complete the extended process repairing some oxidisation issues on the front wings and bonnet, I promised that I would get it back on the road for a serious road trip and that is exactly what has happened. After departing the UK to Germany, attending the insane Koenigsegg event with Esser Automotive and many laps at the Nurburgring, it's now down in Italy on some amazing roads.
With plans taking quick u-turns thanks to new travel restrictions that have been introduced relating to France, after meeting up with PowerslideLover in the Dolomites, we've ventured over to Lake Como ahead of a mega drive back to Germany. Already having added 4,000km to the clock, it's another 800km drive from Como up through Switzerland to the Autobahn for a stretch to Frankfurt in order to take a voluntary and paid virus test, before reverting towards Stuttgart for the coming days.
However, the car is running perfectly! It may not be the most appropriate car for a massive tour of this nature due to the total lack of luggage space, crazy low front end, and loud, intense driving experience (apologies for the old man perspective), but on twisty roads, race tracks and the derestricted motorways it is an absolute delight. With the sun shining in Lake Como let me tell you more about living with the 675LT Spider on such a big adventure, before we make our way back towards Stuttgart where I left the SLS Black Series.
You can find the Shmee150 sunglasses here: shopshmee150.com/collections/...
I can confirm the virus tests have since returned negative results as expected.
Thanks for watching, Tim

The miles are building fast on the 675LT on what is becoming a very big tour despite plenty of last minute enforced changes with new restrictions. With an 800km slog from Italy to Germany, let me show you what it's like to live with such a car on the road.
Can't wait to see the video, time to make my Friday evening!
Great video how many miles has the lt got now
ㅤ
i'm not jealous of your life at all Tim honestly.
keep up the excellent work Tim the recent output has been superb , thanks.
I love how Shmee actually spends time reading the comments and responding
This car still looks so good after all these years I think that the SPEC is also part of the reason why
I think so too
look at one doug has reviewed like 2-3 days back it is a coup with a roof scoop. Shmee's spec is beautiful but a roof scoop is just ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@yusufkacchi9012 Ehh. Roof scoop is cool an all, but I'll take the top down experience over that anyday.
@@yusufkacchi9012 the roof scoop is ugly
Doug: Hey, that’s the car from my latest video!
Funny coincidence
Casey Levins a little too tight ?
The comment about the yellow number plates 😂 😂 😂 😂 LOL.
That could've been me saying that exact same sentence
So true isn't it!
Shmee150... the sort of guy that runs a front number plate on an exotic in the USA. 😐
and it's not just in Germany they do it.
On behalf of all Dutch people I apologise
@@Sir.VicsMasher yeah I wish I saw him in the USA; I would've told him that he doesn't need it in the USA because they don't enforce plates that are out of their state haha
You know that now that you let me drive it you won’t get it back, right? 💜
Püppi150 uh oh, is this a civil war at hand here with the driving wheel?
Subscribe For No Reason why haha, no! But I’m definitely keener to take the wheel more often now because the 675LT is SUCH AN AWESOME car to drive.
oh hey Puppi
Just tell him you brought it to topaz to get detailed, might not notice it’s gone
Lol
I just wanted to say thank you Tim. You brought a little bright spot to my day watching your adventures when I needed it the most. Unfortunately we just had a death in our family. And after a few days of sadness and quiet contemplation, I finally joined the land of the living. Again, thank you so much Tim for giving me a 22 minute escape. Cheers.
I really appreciate your constant grind shmee! Hopefully you never run out of content!
Working hard but it's getting tough at the moment with new rules etc
Shmee, what would you say has been the best part of having the 675LT back so far?
I’d love to see his response
The 675LT is a mighty car
Remembering quite how special it is, bother as a car technically but also significance to me as the longest I've owned a car in my life, most memories and big experiences too.
Shmee150 great! Well I can’t wait to see it more on the channel, do love the colour combo you’ve gone for and it’s one of my favourite cars in your collection
Got to be the excitement of not knowing when it’s going to break again?!
*Dutch driver keeps on the left...*
Shmee: Turn off the camera for a bit...
a few minutes of cursing off camera later
Thank you for sharing this with us . Be safe 🙏
Hi Tim, you may remember the conversation we had about you leaving London and living in Germany full time while you were showcasing your new Mercedes GTR Pro and with a stunning back drop and yes you said you want to keep your vlogs fluid and I sort of get it but since then I have noticed you find reasons to leave London and back over to Germany, Switzerland etc. I could be wrong but may be your attractive lady friend has given you a nudge and has made you see all the positives and I also note that Tom (TGE) is looking to leave London and move to the Cotswolds. I again would urge to take a moment and stop and look around you what a stunning part of the world you spend a vast amount of time and you want to come back to London as Boris drives the U.K. into dark places. Well I wish you both well and have safe travels. All the very Best Alan B x
Thanks Tim for taking us along for the ride. Not able to drive anymore means I can really enjoy watching the different countries you drive through. Thanks again, enjoy the rest of the journey and stay safe. Regards, Bob M. South Wales
The more i think about garage queens the more depressed it makes me feel incredible machines that never get to be fully understood and appreciated it's a shame and a waste to treat a car like a art collection. Bringing yourself to in terms of skills as close to a professional race car driver as you can and having the access to test these machines is probably better than owning them, in alot of ways it's less stress more fun. Guys like Chris Harris and Tim get the experiences without have to own them they are definitely the lucky few.
Well sometimes car collectors don't wanna damage such precious cars.
What do you mean without having to own them? Shmee owns all his cars....or so you mean when he reviews them lol
@@claycrawford9009 he test drives alot more than he owns, he basically is a freelance automotive journalist with access to cars only the lucky few get to test.
These roadtrip video's are my favourite! Keep them coming, Tim!
3:31 puppi150's shoes collection is a blue plastic bag😂😂 Shmee you are definitely lucky to have her by your side!
That looked like fun, thanks for your positive attitude and commitment. The 675LT and SLS look great together
Oh wow Shmee! I am enjoying your road trip videos with the beautiful MSO Orion Purple 675LT Spyder! I love it! What a car! One of my favourite cars!
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the content with it
Im loving this 675lt roadtrip video series!
hey shmee just wanted to say i really love you videos and your an inspiration to me keep up the good work
Thank you, appreciate it
hello Shmee, A long and interesting drive, good to see you in the passenger seat for the latter part of the trip, would be good to see your co-driver from time to time. Regards, RichardA.
So glad to see the miles of fun add up for you on the 675LT.
shmee! Thank you, your videos have helped me get through lockdown, I am now hooked and checking most days for the latest videos, keep enjoying yourself and sharing. Thank you Chhheeeeeerrrrrrssssss
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure. Fun to see the reality of traveling in a car like the 675LT.
Good on you for stopping to be tested at the Frankfort airport. It's a pleasure to support a responsible member of the car culture. (unlike so many in the US)
Awesome video Tim !!! Really enjoyed watching.
Thanks for letting us come along for the road-trip Shmee. The scenery is simply amazing between Italy and Switzerland!
Thank for taking us to so may Adeventures. Entertaining every day. Great job Shmee and Shmarc :) nice sitting right next to you :D
Shmee, just wanted to let you know that I love your videos/content and I admire you. Also, you have an amazing car collection which I hugely respect
Enjoying the touring vlogs!!! Safe travels
Watching each and every upload aaaaalll the waaaaay from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
Enjoying everything !
Shmee! Been really getting back into cars in the last couple months, enjoying the content and been lucky enough to order a dream car along the way. Keep it up!
Great video as always!! Love the content. Plus 35mpg is insane!!
Love these kind of videos!
1:29
All Swiss people stopped watching the video
Suits the mentality of Swiss people
Just speaking the truth! You don't want to get pulled over in a supercar in Switzerland, the fines hurt
Swiss roads are beautiful but the fines are expensive lol
Shmee150 Even in a non super car I always drive a bit below speed limit to avoid any fees 😂

Best car in your fleet! I love this car! Keep it up Shmee
Another great video. Absolutely love watching them (although sometimes just a tad jealous 😂)
Many thanks from Miami for your vids! Please do come back down and do another South Beach cruise...
I can't believe you got 35 MPG in a McLaren!
Nice some of the bugs have traveled further than me this year😁👍 Got to love the LT.
Tim,
Great to see a Supercar being used for a decent length road trip.
Always good to see these cars actually used as their makers intended.
It looks especially nice next to your lovey SLS Black series.
These videos are amazing, feels like im watching old shmee and the X6 M50d road trip
One of my favourite cars in your collection, might be my favourite colour on any car.
Excellent video, thank you 😎👍
I really enjoy these road trip videos
Shmes is the type of guy to took 2 out of 3 aircon vent to himself. Both while he driving and as a passenger 😁🤣

8:40 4 different petrol stations on a one short street?
Crazy right
Petrol station companies typically space their different locations a certain distance away from each other. They are probably the furthest point away from their closest other location that still keeps them in Switzerland.
This is also likely a contentious area to have a petrol station as the large customer pool will make it profitable even if your petrol station gets only 5% of the customers.
Alternatively... money laundering, which is my bet
Petrol is cheaper in Switzerland, many Italians cross the border to fill up
first thing coming to mind is... well, not that legal.
35mpg?! That’s better than my mini!
I'm very thankful to u because u show here mclaren I love all mclaren it's different from all supposer cars
Awesome vlog as always
That's funny, I just went from Como to Swiss a couple days ago. We went up over a mountain pass, where I encountered a small group of Super- & Hypercars, including a Senna. Amazing to spot in the wild and of course made me think of Shmee.
So cool!
wow lcuky
Gotta admit this one of mclaren 675lt spec you have tim is one of the best specs I've seen silver goes well with the dark colours this car totally pops
Thats great fuel economy for any car, but a supercar, DAMN
For sure
I like the 675LT more than the Senna.
Love road trip videos
Hi From Toronto, :) I remember the day you got this and the 650s been watching since 2014. Hope to see you again if you even make it back, cheers
Already know it’s gonna be a good video😎
Just love your 675LT buddy 😍
20yrs living in Germany and I still take care when Im back there and I see UK plates on the autobahn,UK drivers doing 110mph think theyre driving fast then are overtaken by an Astra or an A4 diesel. I was overtaken when cruising at 105mph on the A7 towards Denmark by a Dacia Sandero which has a theoretical top speed of 108mph, it's not de-restricted there either.
I drive my 66kw tdi golf 4 flat out every day. Does 180kmh on a long stretch :D
By the way, the color of this 675 LT is so phenomenal 😍😍😍😍
Damn I didn’t have the chance to see you in Switzerland well hopefully you will visit Zürich soon..
We all have that one car that just perfectly suits your personality & taste. Imagine that car being this exclusive & fast tho. The Shmee Purple 675LT sure is special
Both my favorite car in the world in your hands and more 💯🔥🔥
Great to see that sort of car really used. Well done.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
You are very very right, although being dutch myself I'm often surprised how many people always drive left and stay there.
When McLaren gets a car right, they fucking nail it. You've got a beautiful car there Shmee
Shmee, you haven't driven your Aston in such a long time! We want to see that on the channel soon 🥺
For sure, hopefully soon
Beautiful colours 👏👏
Great video, and this goes to show McLarens' can be very reliable and usable. I also noted there were no "things" in this video... cheers....!
love your Daytona Tim!
I remember collecting friends at Frankfurt airport in my Irish registered Mini. had to get out of the car to get ticket to go through, cops were laughing when they realised what I had to do, fun times!
The 675LT is amazing
@21:05 V8 hotel has two of your V8s stowed away. Neat.
That's a nice one isn't it!
@@Shmee150 now that I have your attention - why won't you buy a V10 & "complete" your garage?
#Shquad...... Hi Tim and Puppi, have a great adventure back to Germany enjoy the v8 room
Coop video and both cars look good next to each other
Love this car!
The Proper Power cruiser just putting up those miles on miles....😃
this would be perfect for an 812!
Much love from Rwanda
I believe that this channel is the number one super car channel at this time. A lot of this is attributed to Shmee`s driving ability.
@schmee150 you can use motorcycle earplugs from Alpine.
They baffle the windnoise significantly and you can still enjoy the sound the car makes but without the tiresome noise especially with the roof down.
You should have taken the San Bernadino pass rather than the Gottard tunnel. A longer route, but a spectacular pass and a lot of fun. Also, you can do 6km above the limit in CH and not get a fine. Above that its a 60CHF fine for the first few kms, then it climbs rapidly and is means tested if you go crazy.
Cleanest spec!!!!!
Really enjoy your reviews, let us know when you go back to Miami.
As I remember, last time you're having you're 675LT on a long tour (can't remember the name) your having a crash whit another car, and your having a new front bumper (car was new) you're brand new Senna having a having a randevu Whit a Asda truck. Brand new. Now it´s a senior LT675, on a new long journey, take care and safe, have a fun journey. Thanks for great contest Tim (and good filming Puppy150)
The trip you're remembering was when it was 1 month old, 4 years ago!
Shmee-ga Mega Drive.
Why use the Gotthard tunnel when you have two great passes above it? Was it a time thing?
going hard on the autobahn, my man.
Stunning car and proving to be a bit of a mile cruncher
675LT Very Cool!!
