Something to keep in mind with Scarlet & Violet sets too is that even though illustration rares are a lower tier rarity-wise, some sets like Paldea Evolved & Paradox Rift have so many in the set that pulling a specific one is essentially just as difficult (ie. The magikarp and Iono SIR from paldea evolved actually have the same odds per pack to pull 1/480).

@@NitemairMedia Pull rates are very high though and a small set i believe. I do agree the art works on some of the cards are amazing.

I think its funny that now all this sudden ppl love the IR cards. I felt like I was the only one buying them months ago. Now I'm sitting on a full binder that looks amazing and it didnt cost me much at all.
Also why some IR cards are more valuable that SIRs is because in sets there are more IR cards than SIRs, so due to variance its harder to pull a specific IR vs an SIR due to the sheer amount of them per set. Since Paradox Rift, Pokemon has been working on balancing it out, and since then has figured it out with TF and TM, hence the difficulty to pull specific SIR's now compared to IRs.
Edit: Ask yourself this, when/if they do a reprint will Pokemon adjust the pull rates to match the current sets? The biggest issue the SV era at the beginning was the pull rates were too easy. And lets not forget base set was printed into the ground. You dont see PE that much but I still see OF in stores. IMO they might not reprint these at all. If they change the pull rates then older boxes sky rocket in value as do cards...and if they dont adjust pull rates they tank the value of the sets. OF is already dirt, and same with Base. I wouldnt be shocked if they only re-printed etbs of PE. Easy way to control the product and make money from demand.
If there is one thing that Pokémon has proven, it’s that their products will consistently be valuable given time
My brother and I opened 35 booster boxes of twilight masquerade and only pulled 4 eevees and two pincers … I guess it comes to show how hard some IR are to pull

@@georgeallen4007yeah it's way harder than ppl realize. It's why I think the Eevee is undervalued right now. I pulled 1 and my local card shop has never even had it in stock for sale. I believe going forward each set will have a dozen or so IR and the variance will make them just as hard to come by.
The artistic freedom and veriety of pokemon will always keep it above the other tcg
that the Yveltal ever went for 5$ is just straight up criminal. It's imo one of the cleanest finishes of a Pokémon from an art theoretical standpoint in existence. The colors, the symmetry, the rather abstract background with the small contours/details surrounding it at top and bottom. And mixed into all of that exactly this Pokémon with it's positioning. Say what you want but the outstanding artistic quality of this one just can't be denied

@@adamcogan211 it’s just a personal preference. I only get exclusives in other languages. The text for me is part of the art I guess.
@@adamcogan211 I think that's part of the problem because the jp ones are objectively less "valuable" in the sense that the packs are cheaper etc. which makes the english one imo more of a status symbol/"the true card". In addition to this comes ofc that as someone else wrote the text is part of the art and maybe you want to have your card having "your name" for it and not some incomprehensible symbols (which jpns simply is for most here)

When a company Already knows what it's doing and they're able to reinvest their earnings from a huge boom then I get extremely bullish. Pokemon most certainly reinvested the money that they made off of the 2020 pokemon boom and that has led to insane art's higher technology better concepts and over all higher production rate. This is an unprecedented time for pokemon and combining that with the overall room that they have to grow I see no ceilings.

It’s so interesting to see the transition into illustration rares. I wonder if Pokémon knew that this was gonna happen from the start. I also wonder if it relates to trainer galleries 1 for 1 back in sword and shield. But I totally agree, we might be ramping up into the most exciting time pokemon has seen in the last 2-3 years as the team rocket set is unveiled and the holiday season rolls around. Only time will tell

Been picking up art cards i like for the past months now. Most are just a few bucks each and they are so beatifull. I do avoid the more expensive ones because i think i'm already to late for those.
Also picked up a 151 mini tin display for in the sealed collection.

Some of the best illustration rares, Deerling and Sawsbuck, are still very cheap. I get that they aren’t that popular of characters, but the art can’t be denied.

I agree these illustrations are the first of thier kind and Pokémon have really stepped up there game and maybe we will never see them again ,however I do question where Pokémon would go with art after the scarlet and violet era,I don't think Pokémon can go back to older style artwork , the question will they crash , if Pokémon continue with these sorts of illustrations then yes I can see some crashing as newer or better illustrations arrive but if they don't and go back to an older style or just straight up flop the next generations of art then these cards could be a literal gold mine
The magikarp was bought out at one point driving the price up and it's just stayed at that price now

The illustration rares are so beautiful! And they also really allow the card artists to utilize the full card size which has been long past due! I also believe that with the digital pokemon card app that is supposed to release later this year, I really think that illustration rares will play even more into importance in the future!

Why not go back to 62 cards in a set but make them all art cards.
I think the marill art rare is super underrated. Paldea evolved as well and who doesnt love pikablu
In Scarlet & Violet, I am eyeing Paldea Evolved, Paradox Rift, and a Obsidian Flames. I think Crown Zenith is slept on from Sword & Shield and has room to boom more too.
I’m trying to pick up some of these singles that I like before they are out of reach. I’m referring to sets that are at least 3 months old. I am sure a reprint is coming but usually pull rates get tougher.

The high waterfall and the climb and at the end evolving to gyrados when completing your goal.

hey philips i have a weird theory is that ultra neccrozma could be the umbreon vmax of sv if done right in artwork i feel like it would make sense and be surprising for Pokémon to do i could be wrong tho but ngl there really arent many ultra necromza cards

The only problem with this take is that they are all still available in the wild. I see over printed cards out there and wonder how they can sustain any kind of value when people start to sell?

I think what is going to happen is the irs are going to bring up the average price of cards. There’s going to be a very very healthy 10-30$ market moving on which I think is good. That’s what cards were like when base came out so it makes the collector side more egalitarian. Because it’s new that’s why we’re seeing such high prices.l, and because they are the first in this new subset I don’t see the current ones joining that 10-30$ club. Scvi irs are likely to always have a premium
