It's election season here in the states, which means a lot of people are out there talking about what the United States stands for. Well, no one is a better representation of the country than Captain America. Come learn about the character's history and how most of his big changes correspond with key moments in American history. Whether its Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes or Sam Wilson in the mask, Captain America is a constantly evolving figure.

This is brilliant. I've not always been the biggest Cap fan but since 2016 his books have been fantastic imo. I feel Secrete Empire while being a mess actually has a really good message in that Hydra Cap is the best mirror Steve because he embodies Steve's flaws as well having real difficulties accepting that the past is gone. Hydra Cap wants to restore his version of the world, back when things were simpler, as does Steve, however what makes Steve better than Hydra Cap is that he's able to accept that things are different and move on.

That's a really good way of looking at it. Steve is appreciative of the past, but knows things truly do get better.
Wow man that's a hell of a compliment, but I'll take it. There are some other great channels out there putting out content I really enjoy, so make sure to keep searching for new voices instead of reading comicbook.com (shots fired)

Awesome job! What’s your personal favorite Captain America run?
Kind of hard to say because I don't know if I've actually read any completely from start to finish. I kind of grew up with the Brubaker run though. His love of the character and cap's complicated history came together in a really compelling story. Plus Steve Epting's art is just so damn good 👌

Captain America is amazing. Plain and simple. Chris Evans will always be one of my favorite actors in the MCU.
I don't normally "Thank" someone for their video. I usually compliment their work and explain what I thought was good about it., but I don't think I've ever thanked someone for one. I will here. Even though each turning point of cap was touched on briefly when I looked at the full picture it spoke to me. Recently I've been having doubts, on myself, the usual "Am I a good person?" story. However I was having a bit of doubts on my view of my country. Everywhere I looked I saw so much negativity toward it. I still do. Problems keep being pointed out and how they haven't been solved as well. It made me ask myself "Is this the way things are supposed to be? and Should what America is and represents, for all that it's done to and for the world, ultimately be done away with?" It was when you brought up the last and most recent interpretation of the captain, the one who goes back to basics that took me away from all the "Down with America" sentiment, that made me sit back and think of "The Dream." I know it normally represents the improvement of an individual's life with the freedoms granted by this country, but what if it could mean looking at the ideal form this country could take? I thought to myself, "Optimism is supposed to be a core American value, so maybe I should be embracing it more among all the skepticism and cynicism." So thanks for that.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. There are a lot of great runs, but I reccomend picking up something from early Brubaker because he does a great job of weaving the characters history into his story in an interesting way. The current Coates run is enjoyable too and only a few issues in at the moment!

I like you're video for alot of many reasons by telling how the late history and the Comicbook stuff afected Captain America himself as character.
But in the end, I still think that MCU and Chris Evans did the best job with this hero.
I just hope that at least the new Comicbook run will finally give the justice that Cap deserve.

One of the more strange things to read is modern people thinking "Communism" was good. Stalin, Lenin, Mao, in Cambodia, in Vietnam, in all the Eastern Europe more than 100 million people starved, were executed, or died in forced labor camps. The modern college campus embraces communism and ignore the mass starvation in Venezuela. Even China gave up communism, starvation is fun for nobody.

What I'm saying is The Political Spectrum of the US *changes* every couple years since the birth of our Nation. 1780's Democratic Republicans are very different from 1940's Republicans and Democrats as well as 1980's Republicans and Democrats are very different from Modern day Republicans and Democrats.

Centre Right
Moderate/Libertarian(Where i fall)

Take note that the *gaps* between these political ideoligies can range from *Huge to Tiny* and This spectrum is *universal* to all nations different countries have different spectrums but the same ideologies with *different gaps* in between. Conservative to Liberal is where *majority* of people find themselves on this spectrum but what people don't realise is the *Ideals* behind these groups *change* along with *society* and thus a new *"villian"* arises every new political paradime and that's usually the party in in *control* of the *mainstream.* In the early 80's under Regan and 00's the *Republicans* under bush where the *villians* and now through years of new developments and *societal changes* the *Democrats* are the new villains just like they were the *villains* back in the 1860's during the Civil war (Confederates were Southern Democrats). Steve is a *classical liberal* which by *today's standards* is a *Conservative* and this is why people refer to him as *Old fashioned* cause his core beliefs are out of style in our *modern day* world to some people, He is a God fearing, Military man, Grew up poor but loved his country, believes in the rights of *individuals* and the safety of all people no matter who they are and in *Freedom.*

Often it’s because many recent writers want to have politics but are too inexperienced to explore nuances, or make it interesting to the reader that heard the the exact same speal too many times on the news and past the time of relevance.
Hard to cultivate comic writers that know how to make good messages when several other Writting jobs will offer them a salary that they can actually live on.

Unfortunately, that's just not true. Even something as simple as divorce was considered wrong for most of history, and yet, over time, people's morals have changed and now it's (too) commonplace.

It has come more common place but from my own experience with people I know, the long term effects it has on the children of divorce usually range from anti social behaviour to depression. Its clear from the ramifications of divorce, that the act is wromg and just because it has become more prevulant, we shouldn't be desensitized to it. I just agree with the Ayn Rand philosophy of there is a clear right and wrong, with little grey areas.

Please tell me this is a parody video. Just.....WOW! I'd say this guy needs to watch a whole bunch of videos by a certain number of hated comic book CZcamsrs, but I have a feeling he already knows about them, and completely rejects their viewpoints as racist, sexist, etc., etc. This guy actually praised Ta Nehisi Coates, the guy who wrote probably the worst Black Panther comic ever in the main title and then in "...the Crew". And yeah, quote that 240K shipped number for the #1 all you want. CONSISTENT sales is what matters. And no one wants to mention that #2 dropped to about 77K, until sales became a laughing stock. Then, Coates has Cap take the side of an obvious Antifa stand in. You know, that group that the FBI considers domestic terrorists. Of coarse, all this is after Nick Spencer ruined Cap for two years by making him the ultimate uber Nazi. Spencer was just butthurt that his goddess queen of the universe Hillary didn't win the election, and his book all through Secret Empire (one of the worst, and worst selling event comics ever) was nothing but propaganda. And THEN, this guy says Cap is great because he changes his morals to reflect the state of real life America. So, he's all about moral relativism. How is Cap, especially Coates's Cap (lol) an "aspirational" hero?! LOL This is the exact reason Superman and Batman (and DC as a whole) is better for human civilization than Marvel. Marvel is more Liberal. DC is more Conservative. DC's heroes embody actual truth and have core values that they stick with because they're universal values. Marvel, in their zeal to create more "relatable" heroes, have to ditch truth to bring you heroes who are just as shitty people as we are. DC has always hit the nature of hero better than Marvel. They are the "gods" on the pedestal, not looking down on us as ants, but rather reaching their hands down to grasp ours in order to pull us up to their level. It's so sad to know that right now, we have a fake cosmic cube conjuring masquerading as Captain America. Who knows how long this will go. If Marvel never does anything with the Hydra Cap (like a retcon, redemption, or reboot), then I feel very sorry for Marvel fans in knowing the the eventual and possibly permanent fate of original and real Steve Rogers is to remain uber Nazi Cap in mega prison forever.
