Some of the menus are in Chinese? Man, you REALLY need to be more specific about something like that because that could mean anything from "inconsequential little issue" to "I don't know how my game works." Like, will I be able to understand the screen that tells me the game's controls? Is it going to impact how playable the game is? At this point I can't buy the game now because as far as I know there will be entire sections of the user interface that's entirely inscrutable to me, a non-Chinese speaker. Please be more specific about such potentially game-breaking concerns in the future.
This game is the definition of a hidden gem for me. Despite it's flaws I did enjoy playing through the game a couple of months ago. Yea there are some predictable things and some cheesy things but overall the characters were well written and their adventure enjoyable for me. The biggest flaw was the horrific English translation, the many grammar errors and at times sentences that make no sense but overall you can piece it together. Maybe the devs didn't have the funds to do a proper English localization and I can understand that.
My problem with subs is the whenever characters talk in battle, having long conversations with bosses, you have not time to read that as you dodge and attack. Imagine characters saying lots of important stuff, but you never see it because tons of atks are coming at you and you have no time to read while dealing with it. I've even seen some games where a character died and no subs were there for their dying words on Toukiden. Your father died, the screen goes black, but no subs show his words as he speaks. Same for jokes people told as you walked around. So you miss all the comedy. That's not localizing.
I have to say the storyline AND the soundtrack are absolutely phenomenal. The combat is simple but effective. The only downside for me is the camera and the cgi..apart from that this game is a solid 8.
The CGI? BRO THE WHOLE GAME IS CGI And not only this game. But every computer game in existence because all games on a computer have computer generated images
Probs one of the best games I’ve played in forever. I don’t mind the Chinese and the small mistakes and bugs are easy too over look. I usually just reload an auto save and that will fix any issue. It looks amazing in the ps5. I do wish there were more spirits to collect. The lore, art and story building just blows my mind. I’m so obsessed!
Just finished today. This is a beautiful very well put together game. Although it’s in Chinese, I don’t see an issue for English players as all text is in English. The only downside I could think of is if you’re looking for a hardcore straight to the action game, this isn’t for you. There’s a fair amount of dialogue, long cut scenes etc

No English VO is fine. Wouldn’t be the first time playing a game in a different language, won’t be the last. But…menu options still in Chinese makes this game an extremely hard sell now. Gameplay looks awesome but I can’t support translation errors. It shows they don’t care about that market, if they can’t properly translate the game.
I'd say if you want something like this with a little more polish "Xuan-Yuan Sword 7" is a good bet..still not English voiced but it you watch anime or K-Dramas you can keep up with the subtitles.
I can't keep up with subtitles that are too fast. Especially if there's typos or bad grammar that makes it harder to follow along if I can pause it to double read it. I would have preferred an English dub.

The fact that Americans think everything should be dubbed in English is really unnecessary, getting in contact with other languages is awesome and gives you a whole appreciation for the culture and custom's, so give it a try the world it's huge and diverse and games are one of the best ways to get in touch with diversity.
I've seen some footage of people playing this game on ps5 at 60fps. I know there is no performance mode on the game menu but if you choose "performance" as your preset in the ps5 settings menu, does the game run at 60fps?
The game runs at 60fps regardless. The preset in the ps5 menus does not make a difference. It won’t make a 30fps game run in 60. The preset is just in case the game has graphics options it’ll preset one depending on what u have selected in the ps5 menus
I need a dub. I enjoy watching the cutscenes excellent cinematography and art design and I cant do that if I'm looking at the bottom of the screen. Y'all sub elitists are toxic as hell too btw. Nothing wrong with wanting a dub.

I mean, if this was just a guy ranting about there being no English voice overs that would be one thing but this is a review. For an English speaking audience. It's a completely legitimate thing to point out. I realize we are all fat and stupid in America but believe I or not just about everyone I've ever gamed with turns subtitles on, even with English dubs, in order to read the text and advance the story without having to listen to all the audio. It's a weird thing to focus on but as someone else pointed out some of you feel a certain type of way about this. I don't get it buy carry on I guess. I'm not going to judge a whole country based on a few people's actions either. I haven't met many people from Portugal but the ones I have met are all quite lovely.

So I have had 2 separate situations where a cutscene started to play out and the framerate plummeted while still playing out and the entire games audio desynced. Even after the cutscene ended it continued. The only way to fix it was to close the game and start again. Has anybody else run into this problem? I can’t find anybody talking about it online
Yep. Opening CS crashed for me. Going to start new playthru to see if it fixed itself. Audio sync during the prologue is also a common/known issue. Enjoying the game immensely otherwise.
Personally i prefer english dub, but i also dont care enough, game looks beautiful and plays great, i find it rare to have RPGs meet both for me to enjoy. Plus i love Chinese mythos

Side quest is trash gives you so much side quest in order to advance to the next story and some side quest are locked till you advance in the main story that’s fcking sucks big time and mostly just running place to place for the person like only 5 times I fought in a side quest story is not bad action is fine but the side quest mostly running back and forth no action in it but places to places that’s what bugs me about this beautiful game ruined by cheap side quest

idk how there are so many positive reviews for this game... I ended up reading a bunch and then got the game on a heavy sale and wish i could get my money back... This game is jank and it is not good, it feels like a rushed low budget ps3 game made by one of the trashware studios... the rpg aspects are non existent, the story is extremely long and drawn out at some points so unbearable you skip the cutscenes because you know there is nothing going on... just to be greeted by a second and sometimes third cutscene... The graphics also are not very good I could excuse it if the game just looked amazing.. It feels like I bought a fake game when you see mobile ads there is no real combat outside of random boss fights and 5 min monster guantlets with no explanation.. and the difficulty curve ramping is hilarious even on normal difficulty and it's not "get gud" its like if an elden ring boss had one mechanic they spammed over and over but had 1000 hits worth of hp... It's really bad like 4/10 do not get conned into buying this game, if this stops anyone from wasting their 16.32 cents stuck in their playstation wallet like me I'd be happy

DO NOT BUY this game !!! I bought it on playstation last week for my PS 4 pro. I played it for about 2 hours, and then it started to crash over and over again. It was the latest version too. The game was already crashing on the 1st boss fight, and then it started to run super slow! Sometimes, the main character or the main monster disappeared while the game was still running!! I contacted playstation, and I couldn't even get a partial refund for this particular broken product. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!! Also, the game talked so much, and it was so boring. The game is 97% dialogue and 3% gameplay. The dialogue were over 3 minute long!! I feel so cheated by the company of this game. Playstation should remove this game from their website!!!

Side quest is trash gives you so much side quest in order to advance to the next story and some side quest are locked till you advance in the main story that’s fcking sucks big time and mostly just running place to place for the person like only 5 times I fought in a side quest story is not bad action is fine but the side quest mostly running back and forth no action in it but places to places that’s what bugs me about this beautiful game ruined by cheap side quest

I think it's because what they rated it before (they did a sword and fairy 7 review) on the pc, and since this version is pretty much the same, it makes sense to give it the same score
Didn't mention if the game was running at 60fps. If it isn't then its a pass for me. Can't play anything lower than 60fps in 2023. We shouldn't even be having this discussion but sadly we are.

I don't see how a game based around China and Chinese mythology needs to be dubbed in any other language other than Chinese.

Let's be honest, english dub would be weird. You talk about immersion yet fail to realise the Chinese dub adds to immersion.

idk how there are so many positive reviews for this game... I ended up reading a bunch and then got the game on a heavy sale and wish i could get my money back... This game is jank and it is not good, it feels like a rushed low budget ps3 game made by one of the trashware studios... the rpg aspects are non existent, the story is extremely long and drawn out at some points so unbearable you skip the cutscenes because you know there is nothing going on... just to be greeted by a second and sometimes third cutscene... The graphics also are not very good I could excuse it if the game just looked amazing.. It feels like I bought a fake game when you see mobile ads there is no real combat outside of random boss fights and 5 min monster guantlets with no explanation.. and the difficulty curve ramping is hilarious even on normal difficulty and it's not "get gud" its like if an elden ring boss had one mechanic they spammed over and over but had 1000 hits worth of hp... It's really bad like 4/10 do not get conned into buying this game, if this stops anyone from wasting their 16.32 cents stuck in their playstation wallet like me I'd be happy
Might check it out since it's Taiwan and not China. I like Chinese movies. So maybe this is a good Chinese type rpg game.
This game is literally made by a studio in Beijing, the IP belongs to China and Taiwan is also part of China whether you like it or not.

Why would I want to hear shitty dubbed stale voices? The original voices are always preffered and contain better emotions in their speech, however, bad subtitles is not acceptable

DO NOT BUY this game !!! I bought it on playstation last week for my PS 4 pro. I played it for about 2 hours, and then it started to crash over and over again. It was the latest version too. The game was already crashing on the 1st boss fight, and then it started to run super slow! Sometimes, the main character or the main monster disappeared while the game was still running!! I contacted playstation, and I couldn't even get a partial refund for this particular broken product. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!! Also, the game talked so much, and it was so boring. The game is 97% dialogue and 3% gameplay. The dialogue were over 3 minute long!! I feel so cheated by the company of this game. Playstation should remove this game from their website!!!
