      @@Haiyken underrated in the sense that it’s simply not in the pop culture zeitgeist as much as it should be. Not just from a narrative sense but also a technical one. It legitimately rivals some of the most widely talked about fiction, and is by that metric underrated.

    The upgrade in filmmaking from Matt Reeves is crazy. He took a pretty good Hollywood action blockbuster movie and made its sequel a piece of FILM. The direction, cinematography, acting all is elite in this.

    I absolutely love this trilogy. All 3 movies are incredible and Andy Serkis is amazing as Caesar. It's astonishing to me that this trilogy doesn't get more love. Maybe it's because the premise is literally just humans vs apes, but it's just one of my favourite trilogies ever.

    Yeah, I was going to say after watching your Rise Of The Planet Apes reaction, 'Erm... about Koba.' You had nothing but love for that ape at the end of the first movie. It will be interesting to see your reaction as he reveals his motivations through the film. For the record, the first remains my favourite but the sequels are also very entertaining and well constructed movies.

    KOBA has a name that's just as significant as Caesar... Koba was one of the names used by a guy who later changed his name to Stalin. Stalin, of course, was a revolutionary who ruled by terror and violence when he got into power...

    I think Dawn is still my favorite, for going full Shakespeare with the drama, and focusing more on ape society. War is also very, very good, though. Rise was so much better than I expected, and got me intrigued for the sequels when they came out, but I think both of the sequels are superior to it. One of my favorite trilogies.

    Be sure after this trilogy you watch the original one for the 70s! You don’t have to watch all the old ones but the first film is a Classic! And will be great after these for context 👍🏾 ⚡️

    This is a great trilogy. It works as a prequel to the campy 1970's series as well as being a reboot. Andy Serkis as Ceaser is definitive proof that digital performances should be eligible for best acting Oscars.

    Amazing film in every way. And I still find the technical achievement here astonishing. Living breathing apes entirely created via live CG performance capture in out door settings. Not for a moment do you doubt their reality. Ceasar, Koba, Maurice et al are living breathing emoting characters. Simply astonishing.

    The “10 winters” line is a little interesting. With most of Mankind gone, I imagine that would have a massive stabilization effect on the climate. And since they’re in the Bay Area which is notorious for not really having a winter, I wonder what weather events they’re using the count the “winters” aside from maybe increased rain.

      And apes kill other apes. They fight organized wars over territory,
      and even practice cannibalism on the ones that they kill.
      Our close relatives are not any different from ourselves.
      that instinct that we have comes from them.
      And I don't think we will overcome it anytime soon.
      The only difference with us and them is that we have the capacity to understand that we are violent and can make a decision to not be a violent.

      One look at the state of the cityscape should be enough of an answer. How are you this dense???
      From their perspective, intelligent apes sprung from nowhere and humans began catching a decease that wiped out majority of them, so now humans and apes are at a 50/50 point in terms of survivial.

    I am old. I watched the original planet of ape series. All the planet of ape movies are my favorites.they hold so much truth. I found your channel because of searching it. But I am subbed, because as a grandma, nothing warms my heart more, than a young person, who is intelligent! When you commented about Caesar being betrayed, then mentioned Brutus, well, what a bright, and beautiful young lady! Subbed!

    Caesars voice and movements are by actor Andy Serkis who also was the voice/movements of Gollum in Lord of the Rings movies. He also a very good director.

    Did you know that in this movie, Koba is the most human like ape, even more so than Caesar. He speaks English more fluently, he’s the first of them to use a man made weapon, and he’s shown that he’s more than willing to kill his own kind to grab power.

    The Actor that played Koba also went on to play Kong, in Skull Island. And, interestingly, Andy Serkis, who plays Caesar also played Kong in the Peter Jackson King Kong. 😄
    After this trilogy PLEASE check out the original movies. They are excellent!

    This was a greek tragedy for sure....Othello is another great parallel. All three films are excellent though, but this one was the most tragic imo

    War is my favorite of the three but Dawn is the best made. I can’t wait for you to watch WAR. That is where Caesar became my all time favorite Hero in film.
    I’ll also recommend maybe after watching the trilogy to check out the two graphic novels that tie in & reveal what happen to some of the film characters & show what happen in between. They’re pretty awesome stories

    I’m hoping they make more ape films that take place so many years after War For The Planet Of The Apes. They did plenty of set up for it with the mention of the NASA ship that went to Mars going missing.

    koba going down that path was inevitable even when he was still loyal to ceaser his hatred for the humans out weighed any notion of peace for him great writing love this trilogy

      It was obvious if you know history
      Stalin used to go by the nickname Koba
      Smallpox left him with facial scars and he was injured at 12, leaving him with a minor disability.

    One of my favorite shots in this film: As the ape celebrate their surviving this battle, Malcolm slowly recedes into the shadows, the last time in this series that we have an example of reasoning, thinking man. I all but cried in the theater.

    Always loved the subversion of expectations that it was actually the apes who started the war. Now the humans didn't do everything right but peace and coexistence was possible but an Koba ruined it
