- I bet everyone has seen that one OMC video that has over 200K hits on CZcams. It's crappy in quality, but seems to be the standard go-to video for removing the OMC stern drive. Do yourself a favor and just watch mine. This two part series shows how-to not only remove the stern drive, but also takes into effect the need to remove the oil, and support the hydraulics. Make this video the new gold standard for removing your OMC/Volvo stern drive.

Man where are you located at? I need to fly you out as a thank you to San Diego, Your videos have been heaven sent. I was dredging going to a place and dropping too much money.. and here you are with these awesome videos.. thank you good sir.
I am assuming you have to drain the oil in order to remove the outdrive? I change mine in the fall and this spring just discovered a leak in my exhaust bellow, but I don't really want to drain all of my fresh fluid just to change that when it could wait until fall.
Do i need to put it in a gear to remove?
Volvo Penta users yes, put it in gear to remove the prop. If you have a dog clutch you can use a 2x4 against the cavitation plate.
@@michaelromer2016 thank you sir. i just had to remove my outdrive to replace my tilt and trim hydro lines and it was my first time doing this. Your comment and video helped a ton. Thank you!
