I had a nose job last year and I can tell you:
    5. Mine was open, the swealling does last up to a year or more. The first month your nose looks huge, I even got scare of how it looke, but it does change. Therefore, you'll see the finals results until is completly heal
    4. My nose was broken, it doesn't hurt at all but it'll be really weak for a couple of months, so you have to be extra carefull because if you brake it while it's still healing it can get really complicated
    3. I only wore the splint for 5 days, you have to be carefull when you take a shower since it's only glue
    2. I didn't know nose jobs could change your voice lol
    1. DO NOT BE CHEAP WITH YOUR INVESTMENT. This is the kind of stuff that you have to do some research of the best doctors in your area!!! a lot of stuff can go wrong with this procedure, and it can affect your quality of life (you can even get troubles breathing)
Also, reserch your doctors past jobs. There are some doctors that do small, perfect looking nose (that look unrealistic, and everyone can tell that isn't your nose) and some doctors look for the best version of your nose, so it looks natural.
I would also add an extra point: DON'T forget, a bad nose job can give you really bad health issues, that can affect how you breath ( a really important body function) And every extra nose job that it's done to fix previous results, it's going to be a lot more complicated and a alot more expensive.

Huh. I wore a splint for 3 weeks. Each week, a new cast was made as the swelling went down. I am so glad my deviated septum and rhinoplasty during winter. Helped so much with swelling. I even visited a place with snow, which was great for swelling.

I can’t agree more with your comment that nowadays, doctors strive to give you the best version of your own nose. I would say that my doctor had that philosophy so while I would say that I got a BETTER VERSION of my nose, there was room for more improvement. One thing I hate are “ nose job “ nose jobs, With the upturned tip and the very narrow nostrils.

I did my nose job surgery three weeks ago and I'm still too scared to shower by myself🤣🤣🤣. Dad does my hair while I shower my body by my own. The reason I worry about showering by myself is because I still cannot breathe well due to the frozen blood that's still stuck inside my nose. I sniff water everyday to try and get rid of it eventually. Is that feeling normal??😅

I had this too for orthodontic reasons (to fix my bite). It changed my nose too, as a side effect! When they move the upper jaw forward, it makes the nose more up-turned at the end. I find it easier to breathe and don't snore anymore, on the plus side. Haven't noticed voice changes. Just so your son knows, swelling can take a year or more to completely go away.

I had a nose job at 18. My nose was always crooked and I actually had a very deviated septum. I tried as a teenager to be ok with my large nose but no matter what I always felt that it distracted from the rest of my face. Also, the tip pointed down and had a dorsal hump. When I went in for the surgery, they discovered that my nose had actually been broken very early in life, causing it to grow in a strange position. The nose job, in my opinion, provided me with the nose I was meant to have. It is not tiny or 100% straight, but it blends in with my face and contours much better with my features, they took a total of 2mm off. This is how a nose job is supposed to be. Not a drastic change, but a subtle change that compliments your features. Sometimes genetics just doesn't get it 100% right lol
(Also, it did take two tries 1 year apart to get the results I have now, which I absolutely love.)

..hi can you tell me more about your surgery? I never thought about doing it...ive dated a lot and never had women complain at all. Please let me know

    • @arlene4434
      @arlene4434 Před 3 lety +1

@@robd1329 My nose had a "dip" too as in the tip pointed downward. That was one of the things the surgeon fixed along with the dorsal hump and crookedness. He took a total of 2 or 3mm of cartilage off the sides and used some of it to rebuild the tip of my nose so that it points upward now. If you have a downward facing tip, it sags even more as you age and gives you a haggard appearance. The recovery was not pleasant and I required a revision surgery a year later, as many patients often do because the nose tissue is pretty uncooperative. It can also take up to a year for the post surgery swelling to go down. Despite that, I don't regret the surgery one bit as it really helped my self esteem. Mine was free because my septal deformities allowed for insurance to cover it. But out of pocket they aren't cheap. Cuz of cost and recovery, I would only do it if your self esteem is painfully affected by your nose. Hope this helps.

I had a nose job 20 years ago bc I had a bump on my nose. Yes, it wasn’t huge but still noticeable . I was disappointed when the slight swelling went down and it was still there to a lesser extent but to me it was noticeable. I did want a revision because while I would say it was a 50-60 percent improvement I believe it could have been better. I doubt he broke my nose bc I didn’t have much bruising . Therefore I don’t think he could have shaved the bump which I was under the impression he would do since I told him that was my main reason for wanting a nose job. I also realized he did a closed operation.
I never had the revision and was satisfied that there was significant improvement though not perfect.I would advise people seeking such an operation to ask exactly what the doctor would do . I didn’t specifically inquire about the technique he would do since I thought I was telling him what I wanted most, a bump disappearance. Second of all, get that second opinion.

My voice definitely sounds more "nasal" when I speak and my singing voice had changed and I don't seem to have as much projection as I used to with singing. I've also had more of an issue with sinus infections since then too. I had the "closed" technique with almost no scarring. I wore a splint on it for about a month and had some pretty bad swelling/bruising. It actually took about a year for my true results to be visible. It was depressing at first because I felt like I did it for nothing lol. In the end it was very worth it!!

Firstly, I have heard that the singer/actor Dean Martin had a nose job back in the day, and I'd be very interested in a video talking about plastic surgery in history vs now! Also, I actually searched your content for this video, because, although I probably won't get one, I am self conscious about my crooked nose. I notice it even more in my videos, but I shared them to CZcams anyway, including one about how I broke my nose as a kid. I've come a long way to be able to share that. It wouldn't be as bad if my mouth wasn't emphasizing the crookedness constantly lol. After the accident, I was told that I may need to have surgery as an adult in order to straighten it out, or that it might not even grow. One half has grown more than the other, but people tell me that they don't really notice it. I'm sure a professional would, but otherwise, I'm probably my own worst critic. It's still a little tempting, but my husband loves me exactly as I am, so I'm trying to do the same.

If the nose has to be broken the swelling and bruising can be reduced GREATLY by the patient taking mega doses of Vitamin C and E, also A in lower amounts helps infection I know I'm not telling you anything you don't know already but I'd love to see you perhaps address this a bit more. My surgeon (not the best choice, I could use a refinement) refused to believe why I had perhaps 1% or less of swelling when he broke my nose, fixed my deviated septum and did a lot of work on the tip. He said I was just naturally that way ( not true).

My otorhinolaryngologist recommended nose surgery because I have a deviated septum (maybe from a fall that almost broke my nose when I was little) and when I was a teen I always used to say I'd get a nose job because I was very self-conscious about its length. But now I'm too scared of surgeries, I won't do it if it isn't completely necessary..

One year later I fell off a ladder, onto the concrete floor in my basement, facefirst.
Most painful surgery recovery ever . The surgeon even recommended another rhinoplastic surgeon to fix her surgery saying I had shattered it so badly she had a lot of trouble “cramming the pieces back in place”.

NIKKI STAHR I had a nose job a couple of years back and for the first month or so i looked like a pig too! Right after surgery, the tip will look too high and that’s completely normal. As the swelling goes down, the tip will naturally drop a little (give it a month or two), but if your doctor lifted some of the bottom of the skin on your septum or cut it off it may make your philtrum look a little longer after surgery. My tip is a bit wider after surgery even after all the swelling is gone but I’m ok with it as it looks natural. Your nose will take about 6 months to a year to have most of the swelling go away! This is just based on my experience though.

I’ve heard that insurance may pay for a nose job if one has a deviated septum . True?

I had a deviated septum, along with nose job. My insurance only paid for deviated septum portion of surgery.

Sabra Anon I also had a deviated septum. My insurance only paid about 15-20% of the total nose job. Covering only the deviated septum

Stacy B I want to get one, mine was broken before, and now it is crooked. Did your nose job hurt?

I can't have incisions. Any break of my skin causes terrible scarring.

If the doctor that told you that has a good reputation I'd listen to them. Unfortunately every nose has its limits on what can be done. I'm sure you can find a surgeon that will say yes, but make sure to do lots of research on them and read actual patient reviews.
