What's worse? Getting fired? Or getting demoted? On one hand you lost your job, but you still get severance benefits don't you? You lost the job, but you can now spend the next several months receiving free income as you deal with the massive mistake you made. On the other, you keep your job but get demoted severly and likely stand no chance to ever attain that position again before you retire. Your once subordinates are now co workers, and instead of a desk in an office, you're eating lunch in the break room like the rest.

Rivera was a freaking idiot. He walked into the crime scene and didn't even consult with the officers on the scene before going off half-cocked. It might have been his crime scene as the assigned detective, but the very least you should have done was find out what the hell was going on before he started making stupid decisions. Meanwhile, the patrol officers were trying to de-escalate the situation and Rivera just kept escalating. This kind of hothead is the exact opposite of what we need in our police forces and is a big reason why people don't trust the police.

Yes, and I knew this. But I was not going to be any use to the woman sitting in a cruiser with handcuffs. That's why I gave her my phone number. If she was seriously injured and the cop's interference made it worse, I would have been more than happy to testify against him.

I was robbed in my home 12 years ago. While laying in the hospital the next day I was interviewed by a detective who eventually accused me of selling crack(which I’ve never seen)and started building a case on me instead of finding the guy that robbed me. I’ve been blind in my left eye since that robbery, I’ll never forget that detective, his name was Dan Binkley

I once had a judge call a cop stupid in court cause he wrote me a ticket for going 55 in a 40 when i definitely wasnt (cause why would i do speed with a cop behind me?). I even told the cop durring the stop that my dash cam records my speed but he still wrote me a ticket anyway. So i went to contest it in court, used the footage as evidence, and the just looked so dumbfounded and just layed into the cop (but kept it pretty professional until he straight up called him stupid). I probably couldve legally pursued the issue further, but honestly, that was satisfying enough lol
A year or two out of high school I had my first major accident, 10pm in late December early January. This dude yells at me, threatens me and leaves me stranded because I dared to ask for a ride home in -10° weather. Here’s the kicker, my house wasn’t only 4 miles down the road. He tells me to “Fuck off” and to “figure it out” Yells at me to “get off the road” which I already was, but he wanted me to be shin deep in the deep snow. So yeah, if it wasn’t for a random stranger watching it go down I would’ve slept in a gas station that night.
He’s not stupid he knew most likely you’d find it easier to just pay the ticket and if you did fight it you’d have to either pay a lawyer or pay the time to prepare a defense and show up and best case scenario for you is just no ticket and worst case for officer he gets called stupid. Works the same way with arrest that’s why we have such an issue with cops arresting people when they don’t immediately comply to there every demand lawful or unlawful they rarely distinguish one from the other.

In Serbia, there is a sudden and sharp decline in people running to help others. Primarily women and children. There were instances that a woman was assaulted and a passer by interfered. However, once the cops get there, they simply put everybody under custody. What often happens is that the victim, for whatever reason, can't confirm the helper's story or for whatever reason (shock etc) even says that the helper participated in the assault and then the Good Samaritan is also facing a jail time for helping... As for not helping the children it is simply out of fear smb might shout "pedophile"... However, the most common case when the Serbs end up in prison for basically no reason at all is if they in any way harm the burglar that has just broken into their home. Same stuff; "the burglar has rights, too". Several years ago a drug addict broke into a house where a man, his wife and their 2 months old baby lived. The guy heard some noise, went to check it out and found the burglar in the kitchen. The burglar attacked him with a screwdriver and the guy grabbed the first thing that came under his hand - a kitchen knife. He killed the burglar and ended up in prison for that cos he "used more force than necessary with superior weapon"... Basically, for defending his home, wife and baby...
If you voluntarily and illegally enter someone’s home, you should forfeit any right to sue them or any right to not be attacked. They’re in fear for their lives and don’t know whether you have a weapon or not. The law is so tone deaf.

I had a situation like this. I grew up with physical and verbal abuse from my mother. When I was around 10 years old, my mother physically injured me and attacked me - she called the cops on me and tried to twist the story saying that I was the one who attacked her. She pointed out a "scratch" on her chest that was supposedly made by me (which very clearly was a cat scratch and not a scratch from me). I had a huge bruise on my arm, and she grabbed me by the throat that day. Long story short, my older brother (who didn't live with me anymore) came to help me. He tried to tell the police about her abusive behaviors and help them realize that she is abusive and manipulative. They threatened to arrest him just for trying to help. He was not being aggressive or misbehaving in any manner, he was just trying to provide information on the case so that they would understand that I was not the aggressor. They forced him to leave and forced me, a 10 year old with ADHD and Autism, to defend myself against a 40 year old woman who is a master manipulator. I got charged with violence charges because they believed it was just another case of "teenage rebelliousness". My mother managed to convince them that I instigated the fight and that I did all these bad things and that she was defending herself when SHE was the one who attacked me because she was angry about me using emojis on minecraft. Yes, the whole reason why she attacked me and that situation happened was because of emojis like "XD". She is someone who gets quick to get into a rage, and everything angers her. If they had simply looked into their records, they would see countless police cases opened on her and the CPS cases that resulted in all three of her children getting taken away years ago. My brother once told me, "The police won't listen to you. They never listen. I know this because they didn't listen to us." These police failed my brother, my sister, and me, multiple times throughout our lives. We had to grow up with abuse. Luckily, my brother and sister were able to be taken away permanently with CPS, but I was left behind with our mother because I did not share the same father as them. I was young, I thought the police would help me. But what brother told me is something I can never forget because that was the reality. They don't listen. I now have a trauma with police where I feel that I will get in trouble even for being innocent. My brother was trying to be a hero, and they didn't care about what he had to say.
Cops never help victims of abuse, and are complicit (if not active participants themselves) in abuse, as was your case. My mom called the police and reported my car stolen (it was still legally in her name) because I was in class and didn’t answer her 30+ phone calls and text messages. That particular professor was one of those “no phones under any circumstances” guys, and she knew that for those two hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I would be unavailable. Class gets dismissed, I’m done for the day, so I head to the parking garage, only to see three cop cars, a drug dog, a boot on my car, and several pissed off police. I approached with my hands up and nervously asked what was going on. One of the cops asked me if that was my car, and I said yeah, and he replied with “well that’s funny, because it was just reported stolen by a Karen H*****d”. I told him that she was my mom and asked if I could call her and find out what was happening, which he actually agreed to let me do. She asked to be put on the phone with him and after making it out to be a huge misunderstanding (it wasn’t), they left and left me alone. When I asked her what her problem was, that she knew I had to keep my phone on silent for that class, she responded by telling me that it would teach me to not answer her when she called. 😒 I have been no contact for several years now, but in subsequent years when I would try to confront her about how traumatizing that was for me (I could have gone to fvcking jail), she claimed she didn’t remember that ever happening.

There is so many moments my mother has done something so wrong and she claims it didn't happen or that i'm being ridiculous for remembering it and that I need to "let it go". They always say they are teaching you a lesson when in reality they are only doing harm. I'm sorry that happened to you, and it's insane that she would even do that. Regardless, you were in school. You shouldn't have had to message her at all while you were there. I never had a cellphone growing up, while everyone else did. Those no-cellphone teachers probably don't realize the harm they are doing to some students. There are some teachers who are too intense on their rules. Especially the "no bathroom breaks" teachers. Teachers, for me, have always been an instigator for me getting abused because they always think parents will enforce better behaviors in their children, when in fact it usually doesn't make things better for the child. When teachers would go tell my mother that I wasn't doing well in school, I would get abused. I once had a moment of weakness, where I decided to try to attempt to talk to my mother for once about something detailed, despite knowing that talking to my mother would not end well for me. I thought that I could try to talk to her about my plans for the future. I was 17 years old, and in a couple weeks I would be turning 18 at that time. I told my mother that I wanted to move to Europe, and all I wanted to do was tell her about the country that I wanted to move to and my plans. I wasn't planning to move anytime soon, I still had to organize things of course. But I was just trying to communicate to her and let her know what I was going to do because she always claimed "you can tell me anything, i'm your mother" and I thought it was responsible of me to talk about my plans. The first thing she did is immeditately start to scream and yell the moment she realized that I wasn't going to be in the same country as her in the future. She didn't like that idea, and I believe, despite what she told me, that the whole reason why she got so angry and came up with what i'm about to mention, is that she didn't like the idea of me leaving and wanted to force me to stay. She didn't even let me talk about my plans, and in that moment, she decided she was going to kick me out when I turned 18 because I needed to "grow up and learn to be responsible first". So in her mind, me being homeless, would teach me more valuable life lessons. I had goals for myself, and ideas for what I was going to do, but it would be "better" if I "lived on my own" being homeless first. She put me through so much anxiety during that time. And for a good 2 weeks, she was intent on kicking me out. I was freaking out, trying to find places to live, jobs to get, in such a short time. But to this day, she will either tell me she doesn't remember doing that, or that I misunderstood her, or that she would have "never" done that to me and that I need to let it go. She ended up not going through with her "plan to kick me out". That was an extremely traumatizing moment for me because the whole reason why it happened was because I tried to talk to my own mom. I was trying to open up and talk, for once. Which is something that was always so difficult for me to do to begin with because of my Autism. I would experience mutism a lot. I could never talk to her, but she always held that against me as if it wasn't her fault for not being open and receptive. She thinks of herself as an open and receptive person, but no one can ever talk to her. Her first reaction, to almost anything, is to immediately get angry and explode on you. She always makes rash decisions on her emotions. But if you ask her, she never does that. She's perfectly stable and you can say anything to her. I unfortunately still have contact with her because I pity her. But I probably shouldn't. She brings a lot more stress to my life than I need. The only reason why I haven't severed contact is because I know I would feel incredibly guilty about it and that I would lose contact with the rest of my family. It is much harder for me, than my siblings, to go through with no contact.

I've lived in a Major US City all my life and I know first hand that the police not only in my city, but my county and state ARE in fact effective, when they are allowed to be. When Crime rises, it is not a good idea to take police off the street and say it's to save tax payers money. Like anything else. Punish the bad ones, but make sure to reward the good ones. The easiest way to turn someone bad is to make them feel that the good they do is not worth acknowledging.

Yeah, there are bad eggs to weed out, but it's not just cops. For example, my neighbor is a cop and I would trust him with my life. He is an absolutely amazing person, working in the K-9 division. They call it The Good Samaritan Law, and it should be federally incorporated in all states, it doesn’t prevent a person from being detained but in court completely shields people doing noble and heroic deeds, such as everyone mentioned in this video
The nurse one is extra frustrating, it's not just "civil remedies" if she does something against the law knowingly - and it's all over your bodycams that she is well aware of the law - she risks her license, her livelihood and everything tied to it - her house, vehicle, family, food, is at risk because of it. That is so sick and disgusting. All of these are pretty gross, but that one takes the cake.
Cops are often punished when the government workers do this they are not punished. They are the ones throwing cops under the bus and making people think that cops aren’t punished. Politicians and private government security and strong arms aren’t punished.

I don't know how it is in the US, but in many countries arrest is not the same as putting in handcuffs. Arrest means depriving a person of a number of civil rights. Putting on handcuffs means depriving you of the ability to use your hands. Of course, handcuffing may result from an arrest. But it can also be preventive - when someone could potentially pose a threat to other people around them or themselves. Then the policeman will temporarily use handcuffs.
That nurse lady, she's a bad ass. She personally helped me and my family when we had a minor emergency in SLC one time. I asked about this incident and she blushed and said it was one of the worst days of her life. The positive thing is? That situation lead to an entire rework of how medical staff and police officers interact with one another in the Utah system. Good on her for standing up for her patients.
It seems bizarre that cops weren't allowed to take blood samples from suspects who've fled from them and subsequently been rendered unconscious. Conscious people who refuse to give a sample are arrested so it was a strange loophole in the law. I understand the cops reaction here but the nurse had the law on her side and did the right thing.

@@damionkeeling3103 You got it backwards, the guy they wanted blood from was just involved in the crash as a victim and they were essentially trying to incriminate him by claiming he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time, because if he was sober the fault would lie with the police officers involved in the chase because they arent supposed to do high-speed chases because they tend to end in potentially deadly collisions.
So, they decided to rewrite the laws with the same rules and laws they already had??? Thanks for this video. This reminded me that one of the incidents happened to me. I was so sacred of an accident scene that i came across. I saw an accident while driving passed,a man lying on the floor in a blood pool. I stopped and tried to find out what i could do for this man. I asked around has anyone called an ambulance. They all say they have. I checked his pulse and see if he needed any CPR. Found out he is still breathing that time, so he wouldn't need it. I asked for a knife to cut off the bag and remove his face mask to let him breathe. While the police arrived, i was scared of will i be arrested for that i might cause this injured man deadth. But at that point of time, i can't leave him alone... i was hoping somebody can do something for him to cool him down, making him in conscious mind and reminding him to keep breathing, and he would be alright. I let go of him when the ambulance arrived. I walked away quietly and drove away without anyone noticing me. Somehow, while we help, we dont know what will end up to us, really based on the situation. That was frightening to me. I was praying while i was driving. The Lord must have given me so much strength and brave enough to go down and help.

There was a guy live streaming a traffic stop, a cop grabbed at his phone. It went to court and the judge was concerned about the rites of the police in a traffic stop, wile completely ignoring the civilians rites.

To be fair, the first guy was being really unreasonable. If he'd gone along with what the detective said, even though they were in the wrong in this regard, he wouldn't have been put under so much pressure. The fact he put the gun in his car didn't entirely help, either...
It would be preferable to ask for medical attention to the victim, then? (Just asking as that seems like a fair concern if they wouldn't let the retired firefighter continue with the CPR, which probably brings issues of stabilizing the victim, but could guarantee they get help)

The cops come anyways, I've had to call 911 for my grandmother twice and both times cops came to scout out the scene. Luckily these cops were good, but that's very rare these days, the third time I called (and final time) a cop was in my house looking around while all the paramedics and firemen were in the room with her trying to help.

I've had a cop pull me over while I was rushing my pregnant girlfriend to the baby doctor as she was in pain and bleeding alot, I was speeding, when I got pulled over, I asked the officer who approached if we could go to the hospital which was literally 5 minutes down the road, so my significant other can recieve medical attention, and they refused, kept my gf and me stopped for over 2 hours while they just sat in there car, my gf was feeling more pain, I pleaded and begged the officers to just let me take her to the hospital so we can make sure my baby is alive, and the one officer said mockingly and coldly, "I don't care, were probably doing you a favor keeping you here" it was almost 3 hours until I made it to the baby doctor, I will never forget that, the baby turned out to be ok, but my gf needed to be hospitalized as she wasn't doing ok, I've also had 3 cop cars and 3 cops pull up at my house threatening me for stuff I never did, said I was harassing some girl at a gas station, after I freaked out as I was being threatened with a list of charges I never did, I kept yelling at the officers to go look at the cameras, after putting me through hell, and causing a bunch of stress and depression, they finally decided to go review the footage and found the girl was lying and trying to frame me for shit I never did, she as a result was fired.

The one with the nurse is a good example of cops being extremely out of touch. They do not understand that they can and do get away with ignoring individuals rights, but everyone else is held to a higher standard. You can't request they not send the police. If anything, saying you don't want police would ensure you get police because you might be hiding something and be a danger to the victim or others.

The first case. I understand 100% how he feels, i worked in health care for years, i was a (volunteer) fireman in New York also worked in Nursing and adult homes. I stopped to help a woman in a single car accident. I was checking her vitals when police showed up and treated me like a suspect. We are taught to run to things others run away from. The adrenaline rush then dump is crazy. Now i 2nd guess everything. My father was a police officer and my mother was a Nurse. They were shocked at the way i was treated.

I'm a nurse with an EMT background. I was on my way to work one night when the car in front of me was in an accident. The driver was injured. I pulled over, and crawled in her car to asses her. A police officer arrived and ordered me out of her car. I identified myself as a nurse and told him I was attending her. He told me that if I didn't get out of the car, he would arrest me.
Sad to say this, he actually said it for your own good. Because you could be held accountable if something bad happened. I guess that's just how the law there.

The officer was fired and the LT was demoted two steps down to police officer 3, even getting a severe written reprimand from the chief of police. This video reminds me of when I was a bit younger (16). Got my parents car shot by a bb gun by some kids from school who bullied me all the time. It wasn't major damage but I got hell for the dents and scratches. I had called the cops and, when they got there, they told my parents that I was the one who shot my car and that he suspected I was on drugs due to my studdering problem. Got hell for the car and the drugs I never did as my parents believed the officer over me. It wasn't until years later that I recollected the story to my mom and she told me what they told her. Dude didn't listen to me at all and said I was most likely lying. Never heard anything bsck from the officer nor did the car ever get fixed.

In Canada, they teach us that if you come across an accident or any situation where someone is in severe need of help and you don't stop to help, you can be arrested for refusing to help. If we stop to help and something happens that makes the situation worse somehow, if you were genuinely doing your best to help, you are protected by law. In this video, the first situation was frustrating and i understand why this retired fire fighter would be angry but him lashing out like that was unnecessary, he just made things worse for himself. We all know he was trying to help and as the first person on site, he did the right thing but once emergency services show up, it's time for him to step down and let them take over. He's not in charge of the situation and causing a scene isn't helping anyone.

Rivera was a freaking idiot. He walked into the crime scene and didn't even consult with the officers on the scene before going off half-cocked. It might have been his crime scene as the assigned detective, but the very least you should have done was find out what the hell was going on before he started making stupid decisions. Meanwhile, the patrol officers were trying to de-escalate the situation and Rivera just kept escalating. This kind of hothead is the exact opposite of what we need in our police forces and is a big reason why people don't trust the police.

I once had a judge call a cop stupid in court cause he wrote me a ticket for going 55 in a 40 when i definitely wasnt (cause why would i do speed with a cop behind me?). I even told the cop durring the stop that my dash cam records my speed but he still wrote me a ticket anyway. So i went to contest it in court, used the footage as evidence, and the just looked so dumbfounded and just layed into the cop (but kept it pretty professional until he straight up called him stupid). I probably couldve legally pursued the issue further, but honestly, that was satisfying enough lol
A year or two out of high school I had my first major accident, 10pm in late December early January. This dude yells at me, threatens me and leaves me stranded because I dared to ask for a ride home in -10° weather.

In Serbia, there is a sudden and sharp decline in people running to help others. Primarily women and children.
There were instances that a woman was assaulted and a passer by interfered. However, once the cops get there, they simply put everybody under custody. What often happens is that the victim, for whatever reason, can't confirm the helper's story or for whatever reason (shock etc) even says that the helper participated in the assault and then the Good Samaritan is also facing a jail time for helping...
As for not helping the children it is simply out of fear smb might shout "pedophile"...
However, the most common case when the Serbs end up in prison for basically no reason at all is if they in any way harm the burglar that has just broken into their home. Same stuff; "the burglar has rights, too". Several years ago a drug addict broke into a house where a man, his wife and their 2 months old baby lived. The guy heard some noise, went to check it out and found the burglar in the kitchen. The burglar attacked him with a screwdriver and the guy grabbed the first thing that came under his hand - a kitchen knife. He killed the burglar and ended up in prison for that cos he "used more force than necessary with superior weapon"... Basically, for defending his home, wife and baby...

I had a situation like this. I grew up with physical and verbal abuse from my mother. When I was around 10 years old, my mother physically injured me and attacked me - she called the cops on me and tried to twist the story saying that I was the one who attacked her. She pointed out a "scratch" on her chest that was supposedly made by me (which very clearly was a cat scratch and not a scratch from me). I had a huge bruise on my arm, and she grabbed me by the throat that day. Long story short, my older brother (who didn't live with me anymore) came to help me. He tried to tell the police about her abusive behaviors and help them realize that she is abusive and manipulative. They threatened to arrest him just for trying to help. He was not being aggressive or misbehaving in any manner, he was just trying to provide information on the case so that they would understand that I was not the aggressor. They forced him to leave and forced me, a 10 year old with ADHD and Autism, to defend myself against a 40 year old woman who is a master manipulator. I got charged with violence charges because they believed it was just another case of "teenage rebelliousness". My mother managed to convince them that I instigated the fight and that I did all these bad things and that she was defending herself when SHE was the one who attacked me because she was angry about me using emojis on minecraft. Yes, the whole reason why she attacked me and that situation happened was because of emojis like "XD". She is someone who gets quick to get into a rage, and everything angers her.
If they had simply looked into their records, they would see countless police cases opened on her and the CPS cases that resulted in all three of her children getting taken away years ago.
My brother once told me, "The police won't listen to you. They never listen. I know this because they didn't listen to us." These police failed my brother, my sister, and me, multiple times throughout our lives. We had to grow up with abuse. Luckily, my brother and sister were able to be taken away permanently with CPS, but I was left behind with our mother because I did not share the same father as them.
I was young, I thought the police would help me. But what brother told me is something I can never forget because that was the reality. They don't listen. I now have a trauma with police where I feel that I will get in trouble even for being innocent. My brother was trying to be a hero, and they didn't care about what he had to say.

Cops never help victims of abuse, and are complicit (if not active participants themselves) in abuse, as was your case. My mom called the police and reported my car stolen (it was still legally in her name) because I was in class and didn’t answer her 30+ phone calls and text messages. That particular professor was one of those “no phones under any circumstances” guys, and she knew that for those two hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I would be unavailable. Class gets dismissed, I’m done for the day, so I head to the parking garage, only to see three cop cars, a drug dog, a boot on my car, and several pissed off police. I approached with my hands up and nervously asked what was going on. One of the cops asked me if that was my car, and I said yeah, and he replied with “well that’s funny, because it was just reported stolen by a Karen H*****d”. I told him that she was my mom and asked if I could call her and find out what was happening, which he actually agreed to let me do. She asked to be put on the phone with him and after making it out to be a huge misunderstanding (it wasn’t), they left and left me alone. When I asked her what her problem was, that she knew I had to keep my phone on silent for that class, she responded by telling me that it would teach me to not answer her when she called. 😒
I have been no contact for several years now, but in subsequent years when I would try to confront her about how traumatizing that was for me (I could have gone to fvcking jail), she claimed she didn’t remember that ever happening.
@@auggiet8380 It is always a "teaching moment" to them. And they always claim that it never happened or they forget about it. There is so many moments my mother has done something so wrong and she claims it didn't happen or that i'm being ridiculous for remembering it and that I need to "let it go". They always say they are teaching you a lesson when in reality they are only doing harm. I'm sorry that happened to you, and it's insane that she would even do that. Regardless, you were in school. You shouldn't have had to message her at all while you were there. I never had a cellphone growing up, while everyone else did. Those no-cellphone teachers probably don't realize the harm they are doing to some students. There are some teachers who are too intense on their rules. Especially the "no bathroom breaks" teachers. Teachers, for me, have always been an instigator for me getting abused because they always think parents will enforce better behaviors in their children, when in fact it usually doesn't make things better for the child. When teachers would go tell my mother that I wasn't doing well in school, I would get abused.
I once had a moment of weakness, where I decided to try to attempt to talk to my mother for once about something detailed, despite knowing that talking to my mother would not end well for me. I thought that I could try to talk to her about my plans for the future. I was 17 years old, and in a couple weeks I would be turning 18 at that time.
I told my mother that I wanted to move to Europe, and all I wanted to do was tell her about the country that I wanted to move to and my plans. I wasn't planning to move anytime soon, I still had to organize things of course. But I was just trying to communicate to her and let her know what I was going to do because she always claimed "you can tell me anything, i'm your mother" and I thought it was responsible of me to talk about my plans. The first thing she did is immeditately start to scream and yell the moment she realized that I wasn't going to be in the same country as her in the future. She didn't like that idea, and I believe, despite what she told me, that the whole reason why she got so angry and came up with what i'm about to mention, is that she didn't like the idea of me leaving and wanted to force me to stay. She didn't even let me talk about my plans, and in that moment, she decided she was going to kick me out when I turned 18 because I needed to "grow up and learn to be responsible first".
So in her mind, me being homeless, would teach me more valuable life lessons. I had goals for myself, and ideas for what I was going to do, but it would be "better" if I "lived on my own" being homeless first. She put me through so much anxiety during that time. And for a good 2 weeks, she was intent on kicking me out. I was freaking out, trying to find places to live, jobs to get, in such a short time.
But to this day, she will either tell me she doesn't remember doing that, or that I misunderstood her, or that she would have "never" done that to me and that I need to let it go. She ended up not going through with her "plan to kick me out". That was an extremely traumatizing moment for me because the whole reason why it happened was because I tried to talk to my own mom. I was trying to open up and talk, for once. Which is something that was always so difficult for me to do to begin with because of my Autism. I would experience mutism a lot. I could never talk to her, but she always held that against me as if it wasn't her fault for not being open and receptive. She thinks of herself as an open and receptive person, but no one can ever talk to her. Her first reaction, to almost anything, is to immediately get angry and explode on you. She always makes rash decisions on her emotions.
But if you ask her, she never does that. She's perfectly stable and you can say anything to her.
I unfortunately still have contact with her because I pity her. But I probably shouldn't. She brings a lot more stress to my life than I need. The only reason why I haven't severed contact is because I know I would feel incredibly guilty about it and that I would lose contact with the rest of my family. It is much harder for me, than my siblings, to go through with no contact.
@@auggiet8380 Stop generalizing all cops. Many cops are unhelpful and willfully ignorant or sloppy. But some cops just want to help you. Generalizing them all as horrible people is just going to make good people not want to become cops. You’re perpetuating the issue.

The nurse one is extra frustrating, it's not just "civil remedies" if she does something against the law knowingly - and it's all over your bodycams that she is well aware of the law - she risks her license, her livelihood and everything tied to it - her house, vehicle, family, food, is at risk because of it.

Hospital management failed the nurse. They should have immediately come down to manage the situation.. Also, if she had given them what they wanted without a warrant they would have thrown her under the bus for a serious HIPAA violation where the patient could have sued the hospital.

I don't know how it is in the US, but in many countries arrest is not the same as putting in handcuffs. Arrest means depriving a person of a number of civil rights. Putting on handcuffs means depriving you of the ability to use your hands. Of course, handcuffing may result from an arrest. But it can also be preventive - when someone could potentially pose a threat to other people around them or themselves. Then the policeman will temporarily use handcuffs.
This is the very reason why good hearted just close their eyes to any crime which if it is happening infornt of their eyes....
That nurse lady, she's a bad ass. She personally helped me and my family when we had a minor emergency in SLC one time. I asked about this incident and she blushed and said it was one of the worst days of her life.
The positive thing is? That situation lead to an entire rework of how medical staff and police officers interact with one another in the Utah system.

It seems bizarre that cops weren't allowed to take blood samples from suspects who've fled from them and subsequently been rendered unconscious. Conscious people who refuse to give a sample are arrested so it was a strange loophole in the law. I understand the cops reaction here but the nurse had the law on her side and did the right thing.

I believe she filed a federal law suit on the department and they settled out of court.
@@damionkeeling3103 You got it backwards, the guy they wanted blood from was just involved in the crash as a victim and they were essentially trying to incriminate him by claiming he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time, because if he was sober the fault would lie with the police officers involved in the chase because they arent supposed to do high-speed chases because they tend to end in potentially deadly collisions.
So, they decided to rewrite the laws with the same rules and laws they already had???

Thanks for this video. This reminded me that one of the incidents happened to me. I was so sacred of an accident scene that i came across. I saw an accident while driving passed,a man lying on the floor in a blood pool. I stopped and tried to find out what i could do for this man. I asked around has anyone called an ambulance. They all say they have. I checked his pulse and see if he needed any CPR. Found out he is still breathing that time, so he wouldn't need it. I asked for a knife to cut off the bag and remove his face mask to let him breathe. While the police arrived, i was scared of will i be arrested for that i might cause this injured man deadth. But at that point of time, i can't leave him alone... i was hoping somebody can do something for him to cool him down, making him in conscious mind and reminding him to keep breathing, and he would be alright. I let go of him when the ambulance arrived. I walked away quietly and drove away without anyone noticing me. Somehow, while we help, we dont know what will end up to us, really based on the situation. That was frightening to me. I was praying while i was driving. The Lord must have given me so much strength and brave enough to go down and help.

Don't think all cops are the same because of some fuck ups. You can just as easily find bodycam footage of cops; doing good, going above and beyond their jobs, rescuing children, helping animals, or any type of compellation you can think of. This compellation is specifically about "Hero's being arrested" which is very common.
Why? Because of a law passed in 1975 called the Good Samaritan Act where “A person who in good faith administers emergency care at the scene of an emergency or in a hospital is NOT LIABLE in civil damages for an act performed during the emergency *UNLESS* the act is *willfully or wantonly negligent."* It was joked about in the "Incredibles" movie when Mr. Incredible saved a man trying to fly off a building, this being the reason all the Supers had to go into hiding. The cops come anyways, I've had to call 911 for my grandmother twice and both times cops came to scout out the scene. Luckily these cops were good, but that's very rare these days, the third time I called (and final time) a cop was in my house looking around while all the paramedics and firemen were in the room with her trying to help.

I've had a cop pull me over while I was rushing my pregnant girlfriend to the baby doctor as she was in pain and bleeding alot, I was speeding, when I got pulled over, I asked the officer who approached if we could go to the hospital which was literally 5 minutes down the road, so my significant other can recieve medical attention, and they refused, kept my gf and me stopped for over 2 hours while they just sat in there car, my gf was feeling more pain, I pleaded and begged the officers to just let me take her to the hospital so we can make sure my baby is alive, and the one officer said mockingly and coldly, "I don't care, were probably doing you a favor keeping you here" it was almost 3 hours until I made it to the baby doctor, I will never forget that, the baby turned out to be ok, but my gf needed to be hospitalized as she wasn't doing ok, I've also had 3 cop cars and 3 cops pull up at my house threatening me for stuff I never did, said I was harassing some girl at a gas station, after I freaked out as I was being threatened with a list of charges I never did, I kept yelling at the officers to go look at the cameras, after putting me through hell, and causing a bunch of stress and depression, they finally decided to go review the footage and found the girl was lying and trying to frame me for shit I never did, she as a result was fired.
God that sounds like it was such a nightmare of a situation hope you and your family are doing better

@@tofallto lol not really, mostly every police station requires the officers to always have body cam on, and if they were to "cover" or "muffle" the audio or camera, there would be big concequences, so its pretty obvious hes not telling the whole story, because in no world would a police officer, pull you over for 2+ hours, when you are telling them your girlfriend needs medical attention. And even if they did, they have the body cam footage of everything lol
First dude was belligerent as all hell. Investigator guy didn't try to de-escalate at all, but I kinda get why that turned out how it did. Stopping and trying to do good doesn't really change the fact that he sat there and screamed because he got offended or whatever.
The one with the nurse is a good example of cops being extremely out of touch. They do not understand that they can and do get away with ignoring individuals rights, but everyone else is held to a higher standard. You can hear the cop talking to the nurse in the back of the car that if they are breaking the law, the police will be the ones held accountable. The reality is, the cop will likely get a week of paid leave pending an investigation and then carry on like nothing happened after, while the nurse will be fired, registration stripped, and will likely never be able to nurse again in her life

@@diegosuarez1563 That's not how that works. Often the scene has to be checked and cleared by police for the safety of the victim, paramedics, and the general public. You can't request they not send the police. If anything, saying you don't want police would ensure you get police because you might be hiding something and be a danger to the victim or others.

The first case. I understand 100% how he feels, i worked in health care for years, i was a (volunteer) fireman in New York also worked in Nursing and adult homes. I stopped to help a woman in a single car accident. I was checking her vitals when police showed up and treated me like a suspect. We are taught to run to things others run away from. The adrenaline rush then dump is crazy. Now i 2nd guess everything. My father was a police officer and my mother was a Nurse. They were shocked at the way i was treated.
Yup, the rush and worry is almost shocking, even if you are not the victim. You could say it goes to collateral, but... eh.
You need some time to wind down from such pump up and the way your mind has driven your adrenaline to focus on few important things, and then someone who should represent such things comes and breaks it by being bastard, just disturbs even more, and doubling the shock. OOF.
That old army guy seemed to know how to chill down, or act like a pussy, which is fine, when you may have learned to use your body as a weapon too, in army. Which may show up in body language if you don't do that winding down by just being sissy. Well I don't know exactly what are the keys for some people to forcefully control their minds, even if having a rush of energy.

The nurse part was basically the cop just saying “it’s okay if it’s illegal! We’ll be fine because we’re above the law!”
The cops wanted the Nurse to violate the hospitals procedure, they thought that if she illegally obtained evidence (the blood) and handed it to them then they could use it as they didn't receive it illegally. Then they could arrest her for breaking the law.

I'm a nurse with an EMT background. I was on my way to work one night when the car in front of me was in an accident. The driver was injured. I pulled over, and crawled in her car to asses her. A police officer arrived and ordered me out of her car. I identified myself as a nurse and told him I was attending her. He told me that if I didn't get out of the car, he would arrest me.
Cops...
What happened next? Did you continue to assist her or get out? Was she badly injured?
Sad to say this, he actually said it for your own good. Because you could be held accountable if something bad happened.
I guess that's just how the law there.

She did but the city settled for half a million to dissuade her from suing. The officer was fired and the LT was demoted two steps down to police officer 3, even getting a severe written reprimand from the chief of police. The former LT tried to appeal the demotion but the review board ruled against him.
This video reminds me of when I was a bit younger (16). Got my parents car shot by a bb gun by some kids from school who bullied me all the time. It wasn't major damage but I got hell for the dents and scratches. I had called the cops and, when they got there, they told my parents that I was the one who shot my car and that he suspected I was on drugs due to my studdering problem. Got hell for the car and the drugs I never did as my parents believed the officer over me. It wasn't until years later that I recollected the story to my mom and she told me what they told her. Dude didn't listen to me at all and said I was most likely lying. Never heard anything bsck from the officer nor did the car ever get fixed.

I love how the idea of "obstruction" for most cops isn't actually interfering, or doing anything actually illegal. It's just not immediately bending the knee and complying to every officers' unlawful orders.
And who are you to tell what an "unlawful order" is? If they say you need to get off the road then you get off the road. Simple. They dont have to tell you there could be shots fired in 5 mins because they are trying to catch some wanted fugitive.

Ending "Qualified Immunity" would be the BEST first thing to change Cops "untouchable" attitude that results in almost ALL of this!

That's not what good samaritan laws do. They prevent someone you tried to help from suing you for any damage you may have caused. Like you couldn't sue someone for breaking your ribs during CPR.
Not how "Good Samaritan Law" works at all. It's to prevent personal and CIVIL liability in acts or omissions done in good faith and without recklessness.

In Canada, they teach us that if you come across an accident or any situation where someone is in severe need of help and you don't stop to help, you can be arrested for refusing to help.
If we stop to help and something happens that makes the situation worse somehow, if you were genuinely doing your best to help, you are protected by law.
In this video, the first situation was frustrating and i understand why this retired fire fighter would be angry but him lashing out like that was unnecessary, he just made things worse for himself.
We all know he was trying to help and as the first person on site, he did the right thing but once emergency services show up, it's time for him to step down and let them take over.
He's not in charge of the situation and causing a scene isn't helping anyone.
