On March 25, 2003, the American Air Force responded to the F-15 devotees, who went so far in their devotion that they became F-22 Raptor critics. So, the USAF put five skillful F-22 Raptor pilots into the cockpit of F-15 Eagles and pitted them against just one F-22. As per the F-15 pilots, they didn't even see the F-22 for once during the entire fight. Their radar was oblivious all the time to the F-22's presence, while the F-22 was locking them from beyond visual range. One by one, all five F-15 Eagles were done, and the F-22 Raptor won.

@@whiteblackgraymanUnless the Eagles have v2 AESAs, they will lose wholesale in a head to head fight, period. Further, the v2s are the only ones that may able to get a lock and get shots on a F-22 that is in full “wartime” configuration (ie all stealth capabilities applied).
For those who do not know, BVR is Beyond Visual Range. RANGE is term used by the military in place of the word distance. . My job in the Navy was m8ssiles and guns. In a eye doctor's office, I said to increase the range. He was confused. It took me a few seconds to figure out to say distance instead of range. Then it was. All good..

The f22 has advantage in stealth and long range radar detection...the f22 also has the huge advantage and the ability to jam the opponents radar systems...thus effectively being invisible to their radars...
LOL you realize that when a radar is jammed, the radar operator will realize it and say oops we have an F22 in the area!!! LOL please, stop with stealth, that's it, it's outdated since 1975!! the RIAS radar built by ONERA in France is capable of detecting your F22 or F35!! LOL even with jamming!! you have to evolve a little and not stay in the middle ages LOL

I think the thing most people are missing here. I dont think anyone is trying to dog or hate on the F15. It truly was a gangster of its time. And recent upgrades make it even better then the original. The F15 is a damn beast.....but lets keep it real....the F22 is a monster, and has had some upgrades of his own. The F22 is on a whole other level from most planes, coupled with incredibly skilled pilots. Theres a reason its been the superior fighter for 20 years.
Because the F15 is the GOAT 104 to Zero... Until that day NOTHING could touch the F15, 40 years and conflict around the world and nothing had ever beat an F15.
Besides being the GOAT the F15 is the only fighter to shoot down a satellite. And it was the only fighter to ever score an air to air kill by dropping a gravity bomb on another aircraft... an enemy helicopter that it spotted after using all its missiles, so he dropped a bomb and hit it.
So splashing five F15's was a feat unheard of at the time... And would have seemed an impossible feat until the F22 Raptor was conjured from the depths of Kelly Johnson's Skunk Works miracle factory.
It's a wonder just knowing all the work that went into these air superiority fighters.

The F15 being so good that you have to play war games with yourself to get an actual challenge. Having said that, I would not be surprised at all if the very latest upgraded variants didn't have some next-gen radar systems capable of somewhat seeing the F-22.
Just newer, put the same RD system in both of those planes and it's down to the pilots. 1 major adv for the 22 is the thrust vectoring tail feathers
F15 is faster, the F22 has all other advantages. Tech and mounverabilty you can't hit what you can't see.

I'm an Eagle squadron veteran. My pilots who were young enough were all excited about transitioning to Raptors.
The pushback was directed towards those voices that said the Eagles were now irrelevant, not the F-22 itself. The Eagle Driver community was generally stoked.

The F-22 is not designed for dogfighting, it is designed to hide and take the opposition at a distance. In an actual dogfight with an F-15, the Raptor would lose.
The Raptor wouldn't be seen long enough to lose the dogfight. It would outmaneuver and outpace the F-15 before destroying it.

The F-22 outperforms the F-15 in every aspect within the merge. F-22s regularly beat F-15s at WVR exercises. It was literally built for every factor of air superiroty. Thats why it has a 10g limit, a gun, and thrust vectoring.

How about putting the good radar on the 15. All that is nice , but that plane flies one hour and you have to work on it for 10 hours. Pretty soon.We'll find out how good that airplane is.😅

To give them the best possible chance against a fighter they know inside out.
Would be the same results. Just the f15s would know where it came from. For a sec. Would have to change weapons, wings, fuselage...whole plane. Which they did. It's the f22.
My thing with all of this is always that you have sensors telling you that a projectile is coming to you, so even though you can’t hit what you can’t see, they also can’t hit you even though they’re shooting at you from far away

I was one of those critics having been an F-15 crew chief for 21 years so yes I was biased.
My beef was that the F-22 was pushed into service to fast (I was at Langley and saw the growing pains)
Hell, they were lucky to get one jet airborne. It was ugly in those early days.

Because the pilots trained for the F22 had been previously trained on the F15s. Having a pilot experienced in both was supposed to give the F15s the advantage of knowing how the F22 flies. It didn't help a bit as they mentioned only one saw the F22 because it buzzed his canopy to taunt his buddy.

Out of the top 10 of the fastest jets in the world, the F-22 is truly the slowest but bar none, there is no other jet like it. You can't shoot what you can't see.....

Technical obsolescence is the key to military aircraft and computers. The technology keeps turning over faster than it could be installed. But every piece of equipment we have made trump’s the previous by leaps and bounds. It’s just a nature of that industry.

Honestly why would you even be comparing the two. The F-22 is a stealth fighter the F-15 is not. The F-15 has already proven it's value with shooting down 104 enemyJets with F-15 never been shot down. The F-15 is the most heavily armed jet we have. But like I said it's two different categories of fighter jets you can't compare them

The F-15 is still the best, most capable fighter plane the USA has produced and you proved one of the several reasons why...Experience. There's a reason they still use this plane today even though it was first commissioned in 1976.

It won't. The radar cross section of the f22 or 35 are so tiny that they register as likely birds of that unless they are carrying external tanks which is rare in a conflict zone.
You know how the A-10 was built around the gun? The F-15 was built around its radar system.
As such, the F-15 has the best airborn radar system short of an AWACS. You can't make it better.

From what I've read the f22 had better electronics than the f15s. Stealth technology does not mean the f22 is a better aircraft. What excuse for why the f15 does not have radar jamming and stealth technology? Did the American pay for a new plane just to carry new electronic systems?
