- You must all have heard about the term bike run-in period (or break-in period). In simple terms this is the period where you need to take utmost care of your Bike’s engine, and the dealer and the manufacturer will advice you not to rev hard, and stay within specific rpm limits till you reach a specified mileage.
Most manufactures mention 1000-2000 kilometers as the run-in period. So, this is the time when you should be extra careful about your newly acquired motorcycle.
In the new bike's engine, all internal core components such as cylinder, piston, etc are brand new and the bike may done hardly a few kilometer before it reaches you; hence the engine needs to settle down making things inside it smoother.
All moving parts of the engine are manufactured in such a way to fit precisely with one another while it is running. But in real time (practical term) this can be done after you run-in the bike for certain kilometers, during the run in period these moving parts rub against each other, get polished and they get synchronised perfectly. During this period lubricant plays a vital role by setting a thin coat of lubrication on all engine parts.
So one should handle the bike in a gentle way. If you rev it hard to reach the red line in the run in period it will make more metal to metal contact resulting in higher wear and tear which may have grave repercussions in the longer running of your motorcycle. So, proper break in provides longer engine life.

Are bhai mera RE classic ko mere bhai ne barbad hii kr dea tha. New leke hi highway me 100 kms jam ke ragad dea. Natija block, head aur valve sab damage ho gaya.

Ekdum sahi information hai bhai. Maine 2012 mein Pulsar 150 li thi chote bhai ke liye. Par usne pehli service se pehle pehle gaadi ko acche se ragad diya. 80-100 ki speed se chalai aur long tour pe le gaya. Ab 2020 mein uska engine 3 baar khul chuka hai.

2nd 100km 45km/hr mileage 93km/l.
Afterwards 45-50km/hr.

I had ride my rtr 1604v little rough when it was below 500km.
Like around 6000 rpm and 75 speed.
Now i have done first servising and ridw undee 70kmpl speed. Will it create problem in future??

@@sumankoju2955 5000 rpm is okay. 6000 is slightly more for a 160cc. But depends if you have ridden at 6000rpm for a few seconds or less than 5 minutes, then it is not a problem. Only if you have ridden at 6000rpm continuously for 10-15 minutes or more, then it can reduce the life of the engine.
I have dominar 250 wht speed limit should i follow...50 km/hr or 70km/hr..as of now i am riding it between 4k to 5k rpm and in 6th gear it reaches 70 km/hr speed with this rpm.

Recently meine Ninja 300 khareeda hai, waha ke manual mei -
0-200kms - 4K RPM (6K max in certain intervals)
201-800Kms - 6K RPM (8K max at certain intervals)
800Kms and beyond - No limit
Mazee ki baat ye hai ki bike 6th gear mei 100 pohoch jaati hai 6K RPM mei

I have a question here if the recommended rpm is for 4500 or 5000 RPM so in case of high CC bike won't the speed be different as we need go change the gear or should we ride it in the same 1 or 2 gear?

Hi, I have maintained my bike(pulsar 150 bs6) very well considering run in Period.. but after running 250 Kms after first service, I am facing drastic change in sound of my bike and getting vibration at 4000 rpm.. I got it checked in service center but nothing changed... is sound and vibration may be because of engine oil?
When buying bike tou have to be veey careful. Dealers always cheat people whenever possible. May be you have been handed with bike that already has problem. There will be many bikes in showroom then you have to choose your own bike and do jot let them choose and decide which bike you are taking home. So. You have made mistakes atvthe first place.
This happened with me. I am with troubled scooter.
