So many people ask whether they can use kerosene and diesel to clean chain of their bike?. The chain is an integral component of your motorcycle that directs the power to the rear wheel. No chain - no go!
motorcycle chains can be plain or sealed. A plain chain has direct metal-on-metal links. These are usually found in vintage bikes or off-road motorcycles.
A sealed chain has rubber seals (O-rings or X-rings) between the metal links that keep the grease inside the connecting pins. This helps to keep the chain clean and increase its life span.

Nice. And real hard work bro . I prefer kerosene oil but its not available at all easily in my area . though I have o ring like so diesel and wd 40 is not my preference so I prefer chain cleaner though costlier but its best for o rings safety

I have been using Scooter Gear oil 80w-90 as a chain lubricant and it works best.

I also use 80w-90 gear oil as advised by user manual . I haven't faced any dust issue as my bike has chain cover .
Pros: Getting more mileage.
Cons : every 1000km have to lube. If you will forget, mileage will decrease.

I use diesel for cleaning and motul for lube in my Himalayan 2021 bs6 .
This is my second set of chain is going good than earlier one which used grease, used engine oil for lubing.

Bhailog, jo thora bohot experience hai usse bataunga… agar apke ghar me govt ration se kerosin aata hai, phir wohi use karo. Don’t buy, because otherwise it’s expensive. Petrol/ diesel use mat karo, bohot expensive hai. Chain cleaner is more value for money if you ask me. Aur please gear me dalke chain clean mat karo bhailog, it’s not safe. Save money, stay safe, happy rides 😁

WD-40 and EP140 manual transmission oil is my go to chain clean and lubrication combo. My methodology has stood the test of time. Where my friends vehicles of similar mileage have gone through one or two chain set replacement, mine still is rocking the factory fitted one and still have a little less than half of chain adjustment left. My bike is 5 years old at this point and has about 40k kms of not soo kind riding. A little bit of care goes a long way. But I honestly feel Wd-40 is overkill for cleaning a bike chain. its just tooo expensive for it although it does the job reallly well. Just go for kerosene. It has all the cleaning agents of wd-40 but lacks the lubricative properties of wd-40. WD-40's lubricative properties are quite useless in chain application anyways. Kerosene also doesn't damage o or x rings present in chains. Happy motoring yall.

But bro, I have used motul chain lube many times in the past and I have stopped using it because the lubricant dries up quickly and the chain starts to get rusty. And we can't keep an eye on our chain almost everyday.

I use Always Motul Chain Lube
From my experience I realised that , kerosene is good for cleaning but it damages the body colour. Chain surrounding body/ frame colour.

Chain cleaning is not so easy but cleaning the products that we use in chain cleaning like the chain cleaning brush , cloth for rinsing the chain is very hard. Can you suggest me how to clean and remove the gunk and muck and also oil from the chain cleaning brush and from the cloth?
Best is to throw and buy new brush next time.😂 Waste clothes are also readily available at home.

When it comes to chain lube I have been using motul but it dries up quickly and then rust my dominar chain.
