Tata Altroz vs Punch Family Feud | Tall Boy vs Regular Hatch

  • The Tata Punch and the Altroz share a lot. They both originate from the Tata Alfa ARC platform, are similar in dimensions and are even priced just Rs 20,000 appart. It’s even possible to pick the same engine from their lineups. But that’s where the similarities end. The Altroz offers buyers two additional engine options - a turbo petrol and a diesel. While the Punch offers an additional AMT automatic transmission, a convenience that the Altroz still lacks. The Punch is positioned as a tallish ‘tall-boy’ hatch with some SUV in its DNA, while the Altroz is a more conventional large hatch. Their similarities were enough to bring them together for this test and their differences are enough for us to be curious enough to put them through a handling, ride and braking test.

@@amlanjdutta9290 the way tata tuned that suspension and handling of altroz, plus its rock stability in highway speeds and cornering....you should know it, this is how i drive my car, so i know. Punch is a good car but it lacks that road manner of altroz, it may be better on bad roads than altroz, but sometimes, things are made for a purpose...plus it doesn't have those powerful engines of altroz, for 8.8 lakhs onroad, one could buy altroz iturbo or altroz diesel.

Altroz might have great rear looks but average front looks where as Punch has a stunning front look like Harrier and an average rear look. So look wise both cars have their pros and cons. Can’t say only Altroz has good looks. If you ask me I would say Punch. And if Punch comes with a i turbo or a Diesel engine believe me it can easily outrun Altroz in sales which it is already doing since it’s launch. But nonetheless both are great cars from Tata 👏

In order to tackle India's inconsistent roads with unscientific speed breakers and potholes, ground clearance is more important than so called "premium feel"...😏😏
And this thing is reflecting in the sales chart. Despite no having a "premium feel", punch consistently selling above 10k units, while despite having "premium feel", Altroz sold less than 5k units. Fortunately Indian people doens't live in a fool's paradise like Mr UrAvgTechie, they have realised that premium feel can't protect their car's underbody from bad roads.

Thigh support is big deal though. But again the deciding factor really is the driver's perspective for the both of us, it seems. Been driving the tiniest Honda and it has me spoiled. I love sitting low, and the power on tap it gives a feeling of a go cart. I understand the alure of the high sitting, but i invariably sink my seat to the lowest setting possible. Have never really liked the SUVs, but lately they're devouring all the segments and that's kinda baffling for me since they're actually less safe (see the difference in braking here too).

I cleaned the rubber beading along the doors and cleaned the contact area with body no use.... Even the service person don't have clue on what to do and how to get rid of the noise. kind of rat squeaking sound from all 4 doors after driving just 650 KM and still its sounds weird. Punch is over priced and for the Onroad price of 7.90 lakhs not even a fog lamp and the parcel tray hook clip falls down so easily, what kind of product they have given for customer..!!!!!
